Katsu Brooklyn Reviews
Really delicious curry and chicken karaage plate. Nostalgic Japanese bento restaurant interior is cute. The owner is super friendly. Great for a lunch stop or late night meal.
Excellent value. Great curry set. Will be back!
Katsu delivers exactly what you’d expect it to at its price point. Good quality food, good price, super consistent, fast service, family-owned. Great for a quick bite or to pick up on your way home.
The woman who took our order was so sweet and made sure we knew what we were ordering. The food was super tasty and the scallion pancake order was massive! I got the gyoza noodle soup and my favorite part was the noodles.
This place has been on my go-to list for a while, and it did not disappoint! I’ve been craving a katsudon, and it hit perfectly. It had that homey flavor and made me feel real warm inside. I’m not a curry katsu person, but my partner got it, and it was fantastic as well! Curry wasn’t too overpowering yet had a great flavor! Prices were also quite friendly; I mean, $13-14 for a katsudon is a steal in the city, I feel like. Definitely making this a regular place to go to. I’d also recommend trying the house tea. It was very refreshing with a mild sweetness to it ☺️ Thank you so much for the delicious meal!
Best dumplings in the neighborhood. Super kind staff
Tasty bento boxes! The cabbage salad is delicious. Will make this place a takeout staple
Love this place. The wonton soup is so good and affordable. Very kind and friendly folks working there!
Pork katsu meal was tasty, filling, and not overpriced. Good service if you eat in.
Great place where even the side dishes are well made. Friendly and attentive staff. My go to place when i’m in the area.
great food at a seemingly impossible price. highly recommend the chicken katsu and noodle soups.
Only way to accurately explain this place, is that it feels like a second home.
Very good, quick, cheap, warm, and filling. Katsu done right.
excellent service, kind staff, good food.
delicious! Our first time and will definitely be back.
Huge portions, tasty and well priced
Great lunch special!
best restaurant sign in new york
Clean simple delicious food .
Fantastic new spot for katsu!!
Best general tso chicken in the neighborhood
The lunch special is cheap, and very well cooked, generous portions, the scallion pancakes are phenomenal. The lady who took my order was so kind.
Incredible food, good flavors, large portions. I love their homemade tea. The man is very helpful and the lady is very sweet.
Local katsu curry in Brooklyn. It hit the spot and very affordable prices. I would come here if I'm craving katsu curry and didn't want to go somewhere fancy
great prices and delicious food, my favorite spot to eat! the gyoza soup is my favorite 10/10 !!!!!
Delicious and affordable pork katsu!
The food is really good, prices are good, and the portion sizes are big.
It’s a newly opened restaurant in the space of a previous restaurant along the 5th Avenue park slope business district. Many restaurants are competing for customers on the strip. Katsu is a casual Asian /Japanese home cooking style restaurant, no sushi. A short menu of quality choices, a mix of noodle soups and bento style meals which includes salad, soup gyoza, rice and your choice of protein. Chicken, pork, seafood etc… The portions are way too much, you probably won’t be able to finish the meal. It’s enough to share if 2/3 students are to get a set meal combo. Affordable casual meal choices are needed in a neighborhood surrounded by mostly sit down restaurants, it’s worth a visit if you live in the area and just want something not pocket busting. Have some money left for another beer at the many bars up and down the street.
I never leave reviews lol but I had to commend how good the food is here! Huge portions so enough to make into two meals and the workers/owners are so friendly!
First time eating here and I already know this will be a staple pick-up spot for me. Very fair prices, generous portions, and a FANTASTIC chicken katsu curry. Excited to try something else next!
i stumbled across this restaurant because of a little girl handing out flyers that contained the menu inside. I went in the restaurant and i have to say that the food was great and theres nothing wrong with it, the wait time was around 10 minutes which is actually very impressive for me and the staff were extremely kind and welcoming. they only asked about how good the food was and in my opinion, everything was great and i’ll definitely come here again.
Great neighborhood spot for tasty and reliable takeout. Large portion of food at a great price that was ready faster than expected. It was easy to place an order online on their website.
dumplings and katsu donbhri are so good
Their Katsu Curry is very good! The store is clean and staffs are very friendly.
great cheap Japanese katsu spot! friendly staff, hope it sticks around
Love your katsu, please consider adding tofu katsu to your menu!!!!
The pork katsu was very good, similar to the one I had in Tokyo.
underrated but delicious! I had the gyoza noodle soup with the thin plain noodles and it was absolutely fire
Don’t sleep on the curry Katsu here, but the overall katsu in any variation is a must!
Really great katsu and curry. The lunch set is a filling meal. We're happy to have this spot nearby!
Crispy fried shrimp tempura delicious. I have to try the fried 🍗 and dumplings soon.
Great food! I loved my pork katsu curry set. Will be back. Wife loved her nuggs.
Great space for a quick meal. The pork Katsu meal is delicious. The pork is nice and crispy, the breading is not as fluffy and light as some other places but I still enjoyed it. The staff are sweet and very friendly.
One of my favorite take out spots. Incredibly friendly and kind people, with stellar food. The katsu is unbelievable (I’d recommend the katsu special). I’ve only had chicken but pork is an option.
I actually came here looking for something quick and cheap and honestly was blown away. The portions were generous and the chicken was juicy with perfect crispy shell. The food was clearly made fresh and high quality. It was absolutely delicious- it is better than katsu I have had in Japan. The owner(?) is super accommodating and nice ! To add, I have a deathly nut and shellfish allergy which you can imagine is a nightmare to eat with, especially with contamination. She really took the time to make sure she wouldn’t kill me, even checking that fish was ok. I was really appreciative of it, not just because I didn’t die but because I appreciate not having to spend the night sick. She was very accommodating, very thoughtful- we were in a hurry for an even and she even brought us bags as she saw we were eating. I really enjoyed the food and will return both for the food and the personnel!
The pork katsu meal was very good and well-priced. Will be working into our neighborhood dinner rotation. Definitely recommend giving them a try to support a small business :)
Owner was so kind! Such a generous portion and so affordable. I will definitely come back!!
We tried the chicken katsu, fried oyster, and fried chicken dinners. All are very good. Loved the cabbage salad, squid salad, and egg custard that comes with the meals. The curry is too spicy for our kids, but the fried chicken is perfect for them. We had no issues with wait times. A welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Very tasty! Split a chicken katsu and pork fried dumplings with my boyfriend, hit the spot. And very helpful service. Just note that you’ll exit with your clothes smelling like the (tasty) food
Absolutely the best spot ! Amazing food portions and everything was sooooo good. The dumplings were delicious.
Delicious food and incredibly kind people running this restaurant! Some of the best katsu I’ve had and it was a very reasonably priced meal for 2. Excited to come back and try more on the menu!
Lovely small shop. Delicious and the people running it are very sweet and caring!
Best curry chicken and sesame chicken meal I've had in a while! The staff is very friendly and the place is super clean. Prices are not that expensive.
I got the fried shrimp for $15, and was pleasantly surprised by the variety and portion of food for the price. There was a cabbage salad with sesame sauce, squid salad, tamagoyaki (I didn't like this but the rest was great), white rice, and a pork miso soup. Definitely would go again.
Great katsu curry and fair price. Tastes like coco ichibanya
Usually grab one of the katsu meals for takeout and it hits the spot every time! Great quality and value, timely, clean, and consistent. Definitely give them a try if you haven't already :)
delicious food, prepared quickly. i got the fried dumplings and the gyoza soup and both were big portions. will be back!
Ordered chicken and pork katsu bento boxes. Both fried on the spot so crispy and tasty. Miso soup with tofu and radish was a surprise hit as well. Great value. Would definitely visit again.
Aqesome food. Incredible food doesnt have to be fancy. Extremelly well executed dishes. The tonkatsu was crisp and hot. Miso soup well seasoned and better than the ones you find on expensive restaurants. Very good pricing for the amount and quality of food you are served. Amazing to see very hard working people in the kitchen.
Best affordable katsu in NYC. Generous portions and very friendly mom and pop Katsu place! I have never written reviews, but visiting this place was worth a 5 star. Their Katsu Curry meal with miso soup, salad, and dumplings is the best.
I am a bit torn writing this review. On the one hand, I selfishly hope Katsu remains a hidden gem. On the other, the kind owners, who I assume are the only employees, are certainly deserving of praise. I have never been to Japan and I can't say I am an expert in Japanese Katsu style dishes. What I do know is kind people, honest prices, and delicious food. You will find all three at Katsu on 5th Ave in Park Slope. I will be back in the near future, and I recommend you try it out for yourself.
Would love to gate keep this place, but it’s too good not to be shared! The food is an extremely good price, especially for what you get! Great portions, amazing tasting food, and a very nice family owned and operated vibe! If you get the chance, check this place out! You seriously won’t regret it!

Had lunch at Katsu in Park Slope, Brooklyn NYC $13. Phenomenal quality for the price. Can't wait to come back.
Katsu is an absolute gem. 5/5 best homemade food I've ever had. Every item from the gyoza, curry, to miso soup was perfect
The chicken karaage don is my favorite! Really flavorful and tender and honestly better (and better priced) than some full-service Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. I never write reviews, but the folks there (maybe the owners?) are so kind, the food is incredible, and honestly they deserve all the business! You won’t be disappointed.
The staff is very kind and welcoming. I had a very wonderful experience having dinner at Katsu. I love katsu and I totally recommend it
I got the chicken katsu curry. It was amazing value and they were very nice. Only $15 and it came with chicken, rice, gyoza, miso soup, curry, tomatoes, and cabbage. In a good portion size too. I was stuffed after. The lady also brought us our food and threw away the garbage which they don’t usually do at restaurants where you order at the counter. I definitely recommend trying this restaurant.
Delicious food served by the sweetest owners. Consistent quality every time I have ordered. They take cash and credit at the same price with non minimum on credit. The only downside would be the ventilation system, which is non-existent it seems, so you will end up smelling like grease after dining in 😕
Great katsu curry set at this place. The chicken is thin and crispy, curry rich and deep in flavor, rice is cooked to perfection, and the ingredients are overall quality. Even the slaw and cherry tomatoes on the side taste great! Good food and reasonable price.
The food is so delicious and fresh! I got the chicken Katsu curry and it came with the most delicious miso soup I’ve ever had. The chicken was tender and crispy. Rice was soft and fresh. And the salad was flavorful and the dressing was so good!!! Highly recommend!
Love the food from Katsu! Really nice portions and perfect for a take out. Katsu meals of course tasty but don’t sleep on the dumplings.
- My wife and I came here with our baby stroller. There was adequate space for all of us. - The staff were nice and friendly. - The curry chicken katsu and chicken karaage meals were both really good. - The miso soup was great. - Good portions for the price. - I would definitely visit again to try the other items on the menu.
What a delicious meal! When walked in, you are greeted by the owners, who run and operate the shop. The menu is affordable and tasty, with noodle soup for only $6! The rice was crisp and fresh! I would recommend the katsu over the karagee, which was very fried. Overall, I will be back!
I rarely leave Google reviews, but I was so blown away by this place that I felt moved to comment. This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Huge portions and varied menu, try the spicy wonton soup.
Wow, this food is excellent and incredibly authentic! I got the chicken katsu curry bento bowl lunch special, and every single thing was phenomenal. The curry was some of the best I’ve ever had, the katsu was lightly fried to perfection, the gyozas packed a very flavorful punch, the miso soup was divine, and the sauce on the cabbage blew me away. Together, it was a perfect meal and a great value. Very fast and friendly service too. Highly recommend!

i was walking with my mom and we saw this restaurant on the block. i think the food was yummy but me and my mom waited around 15 minutes for our food and thats a long time for me. i like how the tables are and they also have free air conditioning which is good.
New place pretty decent food. Somewhat Smokey inside need better ventilation. Good price point on food for the area.
Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt because they opened recently but the food was very disappointing. We got the pork and chicken katsu and both tasted like they were cooked from pre made frozen packs. The only dish of note was the side soup which actually tasted like it was made in house. Overall, wouldn’t come back but hoping the food quality improves as they open.
Tastes like a gas station food in Asia, just average… They should redo all the sides on the bento box, the dumplings tastes like is from a frozen pack, and I had better packaged miso... The owner(?) seems nice and working hard tho. I would still go occasionally to support the local businesses but flavors seems to be more geared towards Caucasians. (Edit) Looking from other comments the place seems to be new so hopefully they are able to figure out ways to improve the quality of their food
Avoid at all costs. Portions are terrible and unseasoned. “Salad” is literally just cabbage. The miso soup isn’t miso soup. And the people inside just play loud videos on their phones.
