Amazing food— the quality is top notch, the vibes are easy, and the service is attentive. I’ve been here for brunch and dinner, and every time I come, I feel amazing about supporting this restaurant. They’re making incredible food, and everyone should know it. This last trip, we enjoyed sitting in their backyard. The bleu cheese burger was absolutely fantastic— cooked to our request, and so flavorful. We always leave here feeling taken care of. Not a place to overlook— it’s not instagrammy, it’s just good.

This is a hidden gem! The food at this spot is amazing! My friend and I went here for dinner and had the warm bread and butter appetizer, the tagliatelle carbonara, and the steak frites with peppercorn sauce. All 10/10. Portion sizes were great, service was very attentive, and food came out quick and hot. Even the tap water was amazing! Steak was slightly tough we ordered medium well but regardless we would absolutely come back. Don’t walk…RUN to eat the food here. It was so good we couldn’t even stop to take a picture of our food. Don’t sleep on the dinner menu!

I love this restaurant! I have been there several times, both with friends and with my husband, and have never been disappointed! The cafe is completely charming and the staff is friendly and attentive. I particularly love having the French toast with fresh fruit, and their generous and delicious Cobb salad. So happy that they are now open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays (the steak frites and mussels are both fantastic) and are now serving beer and wine. I’m looking forward to the warm weather now to be able to dine on their lovely backyard patio!

Love this spot! My sister introduced us to one of her favorite South Slope eats and thankfully, it did not disappoint! French cuisine, American fare. Woo Hoo! After our trip to IKEA, we were starving… so met up with sister & her fam for brunch. What a cute and hidden gem! Cozy space, a few tables outside and an outdoor patio. Love the team and staff here, really nice people, kind and welcoming. The food, wow… they impressed my picky kids… lol Steak & eggs w/ home fries for the 15 yr old, he loved it! Tender and well seasoned. College kid, husband and me all got their classic burger with caramelized onions but sautéed mushrooms for me; perfect medium, juicy and savory - with crispy fries. What’s not to love?!? Great burger. I had a bite of the French toast my sister got and it was fluffy & delish. She & her husband had mimosas (brunch on weekends); it had a foamy cappuccino. We cleaned our plates! And can’t wait to come back and try their dinner menu.

Second time here, second time ordering the salmon with ratatouille — and once again, I ate every bite. The salmon is perfectly cooked, and the ratatouille is packed with rich, comforting flavor. Cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and consistently delicious food. Absolutely delicious — highly recommend!

“AMAZING” Is the only word I can think of to describe what I just ate. We had the steak and the carbonara. Along with the warmed up bread and butter/glass of rose. The steak was slightly tough but we ordered it medium well. It was still great with the pepper corn sauce. Great spot!!! The pasta was crazy good. GOO THERE NOW.

Every time I eat here I’m impressed. Mexique’s food is fresh, the drinks are perfect, their staff is very friendly, and the ambience is great. Excited to grab some to-go breakfast during the week because they open at 7AM. This restaurant is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood. I highly recommend trying it. Pictures are the spinach and goat cheese quiche (with buttery crust), cafe latte, crème brûlée, omelette (had mine with mushrooms, onions, and goat cheese, and the Milanese salad, which is my favorite.

Great salads and omelets! The chefs make a delicious and quality meal, just as nice to look at as it is to eat. Excellent service, everyone working here is very friendly. The menu is balanced with something for everybody. Kids love the French toast and ate every bite. Delicious coffee, we’ve had the americano, cappuccino and lattes here. The crème brûlée was ridiculously good. I’d come back for dessert and coffee. I like the muffins here for something quick to grab.

Incredible experience. From the food to the service, this establishment is absolutely crushing it. We had the mussels and the Coq Au Vin which were both stellar. To cap it off we had the Crème Brûlée which did not disappoint. Couldn’t recommend more!

Such a hidden gem in this neighborhood that is relatively sparse in terms of food. Not only is it run by the sweetest people ever, the food is seriously on point. Have eaten here like 3 or 4 times now since they opened and it’s always delicious. Just has their steak frites (but with gratin instead) and it’s my new favorite. Perfectly cooked and seasoned hanger steak (the best cut for it in my opinion).

I will say.. it was hard to make out what this little quiet gem was. This little French restaurant is down the street from my house and Ive gone there 2ce for Breakfast and Dinner. For breakfast, I ordered the french toast which was divine and the 2nd meal was dinner, starting off with a hearty glass of red to match the Coq au vin. The owners are passionate about food and the menu is well versed and offers something different in the hood. Loved the chill unpretentious vibe and rib sticking yummy food. Happy to see South Slope is moving along this way! Please go see for yourself!

We had the most wonderful 96th Birthday lunch for our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at Mexique Cafe. The staff were amazingly accommodating and went beyond our expectations. The food was delicious and all 10 dishes arrived at the same time. It was quite a feat when all 10 dishes were different! We will definitely return before her 97th Birthday!

Absolutely perfect high-quality French food, in a lovely classic cafe atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. We had coq au vin and mussels and some very good wines, including a Bordeaux from the Medoc -- something I rarely see on a wine list. I live nearby and walk past here nearly every day but did not even realize it was a French restaurant. There's no obvious sign with the name, just some hard-to-see lettering on the window. They rarely post on Instagram. I worry that no one knows what's here -- just as we didn't! I hope neighbors will support this -- it's literally a hidden gem.

Went for dinner early on a weekday, didn't need a reservation. Atmosphere was great; they have nice chalk art on the wall and put candles on each table. Service was also great, our waiter was very attentive! The steak frites with the peppercorn sauce was great, and it went well with a side of mashed potatoes! Salmon with ratatouille was ok, though I wish the ratatouille was a little less sour. Escargot and seafood pasta were ok. Creme brulee was much larger than I expected and tasted good, but a little lemon-y? Overall, food was good and worth the price!

Went for brunch. The food was decent. Had the omelette demanche which was quite good. The other parts of the plate were an afterthought (the salad wasn't properly dressed). I was displeased with the service. The plate was taken from me before anyone had asked if I was done, and I would have loved another cup of coffee, but they threw down the check without asking if I wanted anything else. It all screamed "get out". I was hoping for a quieter experience but that's just me (music was pretty aggressive for my taste). I'll try it again, but this was disappointing.
