Prim Rose Café Brooklyn Reviews
A cozy neighborhood spot with a warm atmosphere. They even offer wine in the evenings. I tried the Teddy Bear and a coffee, and both were excellent. Service was friendly and quick.
i love this coffee shop and all the baristas, truly a gem ~ and it’s so cute in here
This place is right around the corner from where I live, I’ve been coming here for years, since before it was Prima, it was primrose. Now I wrote this review from the front outdoor seating area, sipping on a tasty hot cup of drip coffee, eating a delicious chocolate chip scone. They have plenty of tasty pastries, which never disappoint, and the baristas that work here are friendly and approachable. I feel grateful this cafe is so close to where I live. I also feel grateful that all manners of being are welcome here— I can come to work and feel comfortable, I can come to socialize, to watch the birds, or the many people walking down Greene ave. I appreciate that it’s typically poppin’. My only wish is that the back and front outdoor seating areas be made more comfortable, with plants and flowers. Unfortunately it’s been remarkably barren and it need not be that way.
Absolutely obsessed with this spot. Everything about it is just brooklyn cozy homey wine bar vibes. It’s literally at the bottom of a brownstone building and the ambiance is chefs miss. Wine selection is great and they have food and other drinks too! Happy to have stumbled upon it. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely will be back. As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed by the relaxed atmosphere, smiling faces from the staff and sweet aromas from the kitchen. We decided to go during the week Prima collaborated with L’Attache Paris and couldn’t have been happier. The dishes were perfect from presentation to flavor and portion. We tried many of the dishes along with suggested wine and left feeling beyond satisfied. We can’t wait to visit again and appreciate everyone at Prima and L’Attache for taking care of us.
We recently hosted a private event on their back patio and everything turned out perfectly! Daryl and her team were so kind and easy to work with, they helped make sure things ran smoothly. Every coffee/tea drink that I tasted was delicious, and the food was incredible!! Haven’t been able to get the grilled cheese with broccoli rabe out of my head… Whether you’re looking for a quiet corner to enjoy a coffee and your book or a beautiful back patio perfect for hosting, Prima is the spot! The aesthetic is cozy and modern while still maintaining so much of the unique brownstone features. We couldn’t have been happier with the overall experience and will definitely be back in the future!
I have always had a great coffee there and I like the space itself and they’re vv nice but I think it’s absolutely insane to charge $10 for a single beef patty. You likely aren’t going there for their beef patties though so I’ll let it slide. Still, charging 10$ for a patty has me questioning their ethos overall. Editing to add a star because of the thoughtful response from the owners.
Coffee inconsistent. Have ordered tea and gotten the completely wrong kind in my cup. Place is kind of dirty and absolutely crawling with laptops; there’s nowhere to sit if you just pop in during the day. Please create a laptop free zone for your non teleworking patrons!!
Always love coming here, coffee is fantastic, staff are lovely but don’t even bother going on a weekday. It’s basically a WeWork, four person tables are filled with single people spread out on laptops, taking zoom calls etc. They do not reserve any tables as non-laptop tables so it is essentially impossible sit down and enjoy the cafe as a patron which is a bummer. 😕 I tried waiting a few times to see if a table would come up but it seems like the laptoppers just park and camp out there for hours. Edit: have been back twice since this review at different times of the day and have not been successful in waiting out a remote worker for a seat. The amount of people actively participating in out-loud zoom calls was absolutely diabolical. Full on vibe killer lol
Very popular with the locals. They’re always super busy each time I’ve gone. I’ve found the coffee here to be very inconsistent. Often, the foam on my lattes and cappuccinos have too many air bubbles. Also, they don’t seem to tidy / sweep the back patio upon closing. Many times I’ve arrived just after opening only to go to the back patio to find the tables and chairs all scattered + large crumbs of food on the tables and deck covered in ants and many birds lingering to snatch the crumbs. Prima isn’t the best but also not the worst.
I would love to like this place since it’s the closest coffee shop to me but in recent years my experiences have been lacking. The coffee is pretty good, can be inconsistent but it’s decent. The service is what’s really lacking. The baristas look miserable and can’t even be bothered to say hello. I asked them “how’s it going?” and didn’t even get a response. If you want people to tip you’re gonna have to at least pretend to be nice to customers… as a barista myself I can say that it’s really not that hard to fake a smile and at least say hello.
Hands down the slowest service you can find in a coffee shop, consistently. There will be a line stretching all the way to the back of the shop and the workers will barely be moving. I’ve literally heard them say “I really don’t mind making people wait.” If there was another coffee shop within a few blocks I would happily never come here again.
