Hartz Chicken Buffet

This place has a buffet!!!...Food was fresh, staff was friendly. Will definitely visit this location again.

My order is always right, the food is fresh and so tasty. Rolls are ahhhhmazing!! It's our go-to restaurant when we can't agree on what to eat because you can't go wrong with Hartz.

Fairly new location. Very clean. Food was very fresh and full due to the time of day.

This Dayton,Tx Hartz is by far the best you will find , everything was cooked the right way, gonna be our regular stop on Sunday's.

I travel through Dayton, Texas often. I always stop here for lunch. The buffet is wonderful. The service is horrible. The frontline cashier has been extremely rude on my last few visits. Today I had a hole in my cup, my friend went and grabbed me another cup, you would have thought we were robbing the place. Think I will be taking a break for awhile.

Didn't eat the buffet, got a meal to go and it was excellent!! And priced well too. The chicken was freshly cooked, you can tell when chicken has been sitting under a heat lamp, this was fresh. The sides were good, and the rolls are awesome....

This place Is my go to place, when I don't feel like cooking. I Appreciate the Amazing workers, at the Garth Rd location. They recognize my face, whenever I come in, and that makes me feel like I'm at home. The baked chicken, n the fried livers, n gizzards are my FAVORITES. It ALWAYS hits the spot, n feels me up. I LOVE this place. Hartz Chicken, PLEASE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

The food is always fresh and well seasoned. Everything from the white meat fried chicken pieces to the wonderful okra and tomato and onions... The staff is extremely friendly, welcoming and always cleaning up the tables after people leave. The facility is very clean. But the food is wonderful home cooking.....I highly recommend it. I especially like the coating on the White meat chicken strips. It's crunchy and satisfying. With chicken white meat being juicy inside. It's not dried out at all. I only wish I had more room for them. The fried catfish is always perfectly cooked! The roasted chicken legs are delicious too. And the all you can eat mashed potatoes and gravy wow... They have both the brown and white gravy. Really a well-run restaurant I highly recommend you try it out. You will be Back! Chicken tenders where fabulous, some of the best I've ever had. Seasoned fries where very good. Yeast rolls where perfect. I really can't compliment this meal enough. I don't understand how any other chicken business nearby gets any customers, unless they just haven't tried this yet.

I love this Hartz Chicken location! It is a small location but they have amazing food and it’s always fresh and hot. Their deserts are so warm and good and their rolls are always soft. They have good customer service and is overall a great location. You can tell the cook does a wonderful job and cares to cook the food good because it is always yummy and fresh here. I will always go to this location over any other location. I go here atleast once a week and I love it. You definitely get your money worth here.

Nice clean environment. New location. This location is way better then the one in Cleveland. Way more options; the bar actually has more then 8-10 items. Highly recommend this one and we will be back.

Dayton is on my to go to place for Hartz chicken. I work in Dayton 2 days a week and a recommendation from my boss to go this place. I have no regrets the chicken was great and I am a fried gizzards lover. Perfectly cooked. Everything was great. Great customer service. If you happen to be in Dayton stop by its right there on Hwy 90.

This was so good! We were traveling through town and saw the restaurant from the street. Needing a quick bite, we decided to try the buffet. This place doesn't look like much. It's not fancy, but it's very good and reasonably priced. Service was friendly as well.

This location of all Hartz chicken this one place chicken is extremely good and I don’t live in Dayton staff is very professional i will dry all the way back to this place from Humble Tx just to eat here i wish all restaurants of Hartz was like this one place thank you

I Love this chilis, there a clean facility. Service is great, and they always take care of me and my family when we arrive.i service there cooking equipment and there trash and back area is just as clean as the kitchen. Keep up the great service.

Caroline who waited on us as so very helpful and sweet. The food was great. My husband got the buffet but since I can only eat small portions I got the 4 chicken wings with fries. The food arrived hot, tasty, and very fresh. The restaurant was clean with clean restrooms. Just a wonderful experience at this restaurant.

I went through the drive threw. I ordered a 7 piece chicken only with 3 legs 1 breast and a wing. I ordered a three piece dark with 3 legs and a 3 piece fish. When I got home everything was correct but the 3 piece chicken. When I called back to let them know the manager Emily told me she packed the order and she basically called me a liar and said I didn't order a 3 piece. Well I was charged 42.00 and I received the three piece but it was not correct.

This location is pretty good . I do prefer the Liberty location better . Seems to have a better selection on their buffet . It's not as cramped up either .

I just love this place I never have drove by it without stopping but today they've got new french fries and they were not good at all but everything else was perfect

Surprisingly the food was very good we haven’t ate there in years we decided to stop and get some food the chicken was good the rolls were excellent The vegetables that we got on the side were even good so yes I would eat there again I like the way the chicken tasted

Need to do a better job cleaning dining area. Had Nats around the trash can. Food is good and hot. Staff was friendly. Hopefully the new location will be a lot better. Waiting to sse.

This Harts has been here forever! Older building but don't let that detourer you. The staff is wonderful. The food is great. All you can eat buffet. Very affordable

The new location is clean with a roomy dinning room, lots of tables. The buffet is a great quick meal without a wait but was $15 per person with drink so kind of pricy. We dined on a Saturday morning at 11:30 am for lunch, not busy and open tables. The tenders are great and they have spicy ones now too that aren’t spicy but I think are even better than the regular ones. . The hot wings are good, saucy and tender and flavorful. The fried chicken is good and crunchy and moist. The rotisserie chicken was very dry this time. The rolls are incredible and soft, hot, and fresh. They are so good!!!! Everyone’s favorite. The hot side dishes aren’t very flavorful and actually are very bland. Specifically the beans, macaroni and cheese, the spinach, and the broccoli cheese casserole. The cabbage was good. The mashed potatoes are delicious though with the chicken gravy on them. The cold bar is a good little salad makings if you want that, I don’t ever try it. The potato salad had an off flavor, like cleaner was poured in it, I didn’t like it at all and I was sad because it looked homemade and fresh. The coleslaw is phenomenally delicious!! I love. It with the mashed potatoes and chicken tenders. I wish they would put fried okra on the buffet and fries to give sides that aren’t bland. I didn’t try the dessert as I’m not a sweet eater. The tea, both sweet and unsweet are fresh made and refreshing.

The food is good! The salad bar is good! The service is lacking, the female at the register is not the friendliest, she acts like she's doing us a favor to charge us for our food. She even asked how old the 'senior' person was. The restaurant is too cold inside. I informed the female at the register one day that it was way too cold in there, and she stated that they kept it cold because the back kitchen area where they fry the food gets too hot. But we have been so uncomfortable sitting in the dining room eating that we have to carry a jacket to wear inside, or go eat somewhere else. I think that's why the last 2 times we have been there, there have been less people inside dining. It seems that their carry out has gone up. Go figure!!!! We are/ were regular customers there, going at least once or twice a week.

The food is good, the customer service is beyond horrible. First time I have ate at a buffet where you feel like they are monitoring every piece of food you take.

It's a very convenient family style buffet, but they need to focus on keeping the food fresh and keep the eating area clean.

Hours are incorrectly posted on door as well as Google. We were not allowed to eat in the dining room even arriving 35 minutes before closing.

Better location as far as a newer building. Food is about the same for a buffet style restaurant. I will go back and eat there again if I'm looking for a sit-down buffet style chicken restaurant.

I ordered chicken livers and got chicken gizzards drove all the way back to Mont Belvieu and realize my order was wrong so I called the store they and talk to the manager she wanted me to drive all the way back out to give them back the order they messed up instead of letting me drive back through tomorrow on my way home from work and picking up a duplicate order

Ordering to go is much more pleasant, the food tastes good...but the inside is kind of dated and gross. The last time I used the bathroom the ceiling was falling in. That is why I am not rating it higher. If you plan on eating here just grab it to go and enjoy at home.

Went today before 11 and you would think for $17 dollars a buffet they would have tenders but the employee said they wouldn’t have it today. How busy this place gets they would keep up with putting out food. Very disappointed and no fries available either

I frequent this location fairly often. Normally everything on the buffet bar is well stocked. Today I’m not sure what was going on. Never seen that manager before. Rolls were over cooked. Mashed potatoes stayed empty the entire 30 mins we were in there. No fresh fried chicken. Desert stayed empty. Very poor experience on a Sunday.

used to be great there but they are tending to jip you on what you get now the rolls are half the size and sometimes burnt, gravy instead of being thick and fabulous like it used to be it is thin and runny

16 dollars for lukewarm food on a Styrofoam lunch tray and a tiny fountain drink. Not the worst place ever but probably won't come back

There was green mold/slime in my drink. Strawberry Fanta. Most of their food was good but some of it was bland with no flavor.

The drive thru takes too long. Mc Donald's can do four vehicles to their one. But the person that cooked the greens, awesome job.

I have been eating at this Hartz for years. Until recently I have always been satisfied with the food here. The last two times I’ve ordered take out food here, the fried chicken and the rolls have both been over cooked. The rolls have been hard and dry. The chicken has been cooked just shy of being burnt. The crust wasn’t the usual light golden color. It was a much darker, almost brown, color. While it was still edible, it did not taste all that great. The green beans and the mashed potatoes and gravy were still good. But veggies aren’t the reason people go to a fried chicken restaurant.

The chicken was undercooked, skin was soggy, not crispy and the fries and rolls were overcooked .... not a pleasant experience! Kinda wish popeyes was back up and running, and I am not a fan of them, but I do believe that I would have enjoyed their food today.... Do better Hartz!

This one was ok. Smelly on the inside. The manager has a bit of an attitude condiments. I still think chicken express is cleaner and have fresher foods down the road. Advice to the manager. Be nicer!!!

Couldn't repeat order correctly. After waiting for 20 mins messed up my order when I tried to get it fixed told me they were out of chicken at 730 pm. Can't wait for chicken express to open.

My opinion. Salty fish, flavorless fried chicken, no fried okra on the buffet, no fried liver on the buffet. Waaaaaaay over priced

The food was horrible, I was surprised. Napkins are located on the trashcan, very unsanitary. Tables were filthy, as well as floor.

I just went to drive thru to order food. I watched as the female employee fixed my order. She had a face mask on her chin. Both nose and mouth uncovered. No gloves were worn. I ask is this how they keep coustomers safe by not wearing a mask. She said she was wearing a mask with it still only covering her chin. Will not go to this restaurant again.

Went in when it opened nonfood there had to wait 25 minutes for food to be put out employees had no urgency to get food out. Nats all in the fountain drink tips, Flys were the food goes when there wasn't any food then to top it off the raid can and mildew bucket in the seats someone need to call the health department

Unfortunately I have not and will not taste the chicken from this new location.... 1st visit ... their second week open....15 min wait for legs and thighs....I was only customer in drive thru and 2 people inside 2nd visit.....few weeks later.......was told 30 min wait for legs and thighs at 6:30 pm....only 1 car ahead of me and about 5 people inside Very poor operational skills..........if you want to get this store in order plz contact me....but it will cost you.....otherwise I'll just keep going to Chicken Express or Hartz in Liberty

Ordered my food...was told to pull around waited 25 minutes for my food had to go in to find my food not one person solved the problem...acted like it was my fault for ordering through the drive thru...WILL NOT COME HERE AGAIN...ill stay with chicken express at least the customer comes first there

Half the food was cold, felt very disrespected was told by the manager that I couldn't talk Spanish that if I understood that I was I America.!! Then I told them i can go eat somewhere els if it bothered her that much just give me my money back they said no refunds that they had a sign saying so, the sign did say no refund but only after your plate have been severed nd she had only handed my the cup nd tray at the time................

Worse experience ever , i order liver and gizzards extra crisp half an order with a small okra always order this at this location, just love it ,but on this occasion i get home and my food is burned , hard to eat so i called and told them about the food ,she said the food was done how I ordered it extra crisp but I didn't order it burn so she said there was nothing she could do about it .I will not be going back

This place had old nasty chicken on their buffet. When i asked how long has that chicken been sitting there, the manager said she didnt know. When i asked if they could cook me some fresh chicken, she no i had ti eat what was on the buffet

My husband and I stopped there this evening Monday November 20th. We got there at 8:35pm, and was told that we are going to have to eat fast, because they close at 9, and we will be asked to leave ,even if we hadn't finished. We asked if we could go to our car if it gets 9 and we weren't finished, and he laughed and said no. I will never go back. Everyone else was very pleasant and the food was fine, but the guy at the register was rude......

Your sign says closes at 10pm. On October 2 2024 I came to your store in Dayton TX and the doors were locked, and it wasn't 10pm it just turn 9pm. That's bad customer service on your part that's why a 1 star rating is all I'm giving, y'all need to do better.

I ordered my food and a jalapeno the jalapeno was not in the bag, so i ask for it and the manager was very rude and tried to sit and argue with me! That she had put it in the bag i gave her the bag back twice and i asked to speak to someone higher then her because for her rudeness and she said "I am the boss" there for i will not be back

We got the buffet $23 & some change. The food was cold which made it unenjoyable. The food isn't really bad they really need to turn up the heat to keep the food hot as possible. We basically waisted our money. I threw my entire plate away accept for the 2 pieces of chicken I ate.

The Hartz Chicken here in Dayton Texas is nasty inside. Their toilets barely even flush. They used to have a good buffet but we no longer eat there because of the nasty bathrooms. If they allow the public areas to become that filthy we can only imagine how nasty the kitchen is. We definitely would not recommend Hartz Chicken to anyone.

Building is dilapidated Dayton, TX location. My husband's chicken wasn't cooked thoroughly. The bathroom had a plumbing problem, there was water all over the floor. There were huge green flies in the area we sat in. Gnats around drink fountain. Not a good experience at this location. There is a new building that looks to have just been completed for this business relatively close!! Hopefully the move to new building will bring better service and accommodations. This was MY first time at a Hartz Chicken. I won't let this locations short comings deter me from this chain!!

This Hearts Buffet was awful...will never go back!! Food was tasteless even the cobbler was bad 👎🏻 Way over priced my husband and I are seniors and it was $29 for the two of us. The chicken and the livers were fried so hard you couldn't eat it, the red beans and the rice was very hot(spicy). The mash potatoes were so dry they stood up by themselves. And this was at lunchtime on 9/16/22. Trust me you don't want to waste your money on this Hearts!!!🤮

Cashier Robert did not help anyone standing at the register. Then when he did he was rude, took payment and walked off. No plate and no drink cup. We had to ask for both items. The guy behind us is still standing there waiting. All of the tables were dirty. Every table

I thought the new location would be better. They continue to serve food that is barely warm. My husband has dined inside and watched the employees come out and get food off of the buffet to serve in the drive thru food that has been sitting there for hours and no longer fresh. I have had diarrhea since Sat Nov 25 when I ate there. Very disappointed in the service and food they are serving. We will not be returning period !!!

Will NOT return! The young girl at the register didn’t greet us or even speak! The food was cold, the worker cleaned the tables, took the trash out, grabbed the same rag she used on the tables and started cleaning again, took more trash out and NEVER washed her hands. I told the manager but she didn’t care, she had long nails and a nose (hog) ring which is a big NO when handling food!! Health Department will be getting a call!

Horrible manager, when asked to correct my order, she got mad at me because I wanted the money refunded to my card and she made an ugh sound and slammed her hand down on the register and started tapping her nails very loudly. I apologized for the inconvenience and stated that I wasn't trying to aggravate her, but I needed accurate receipts for work. She proceeded to tell me to stop getting snappy and she was very rude about it. I asked for a manager and she told me she was the manager and there was not another one on any of the other shifts. At no point was I rude to her, but she was extremely rude and trying to act like a big shot in front of the other employees. Come on hartz, do better with your front of house employees.

Visited this location about 3 weeks ago. Received my 1st order, while waiting on the second order, the server placed my first order in a plastic bag and placed it on the chicken to be served to other customers under the heat light. I brought it to her attention. She dismissed my comments and walked away.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I came in with my mother after driving hours from out of town. I got charged for my buffets, but on their system it was saying Comm Error, so they took my card and tried swiping it at the drive thru register and also tried to charge 4 times on his personal phone because the guy said they have been having issues all day. I found that really shady so I was looking at my transactions on my phone and the 32.45 was taken out the first time. I told him and showed him, but he said no money was showing on their system, so a manager or whoever she was came and this time around I had a bank representative on my phone so I had him explain that the transaction was indeed taken out of my account and would reflect in their system soon. She didn't want to hear any explanation and kept speaking over him saying the card was declined, the representative tried to explain that the card got declined due to the amount of times it was trying to be charged and that in fact the money was taken out by her restaurant. She said she didn't have time to deal with him. HORRIBLE SERVICE and how embarrassing that the people at this establishment have no common sense in how to run a business. Don't waste your time here. The bathrooms were also disgusting. Take your business else where.

I was a regular stopping for dinner once a week on my way home from work. I usually bring my own cup to drink from. The Asian lady at the register informed me that I couldn’t use my own cup even though I had ordered and paid for a drink. She was very rude and aggressive and came later to tell me not to bring my cup back again. I informed her that this wouldn’t be a problem problem because if this is how she treats customers, I wouldn’t be coming back. I’ve eaten at numerous other Hartz restaurants and never had an issue. I’ve only had this problem with this particular cashier who seemed obsessed with my cup. I was a good customer but I don’t enjoy being treated rudely by employees at any business that I patronize. I won’t be back. Plenty of other places to eat with polite, friendly staff.

Food tasted ok. Sitting on the toilet is not so bad my only issue I had personally was not so much that I paid $70 for three kids under 9 and three adults, but was that I had to eat my food on a plastic plate with plastic silverware and when I asked for those items they were not able to give me those things as real dishes. So I will never go back to any of these restaurants in my life and anyone who asks me about them I will tell them to go to Mickey D's instead.

Came for a 12pc family meal regular i was given spicy chicken 2 sides were wrong, I didn’t notice until we drive 30 minutes away ! called spoke to “manager” Emily she said there is nothing I can do about it , i asked for someone above her she said it was the owner she had no info on when she would be in said she will not be calling the manager about the issue. I don’t think it’s okay to $40 on food i did not order! and for her being a manager she sure is rude and doesn’t let the customer speak she over talks and hangs up on you!
