Cho Dang Korean Restaurant Irvine Reviews
This gem is located inside H Mart's food court in the back. I initially came for groceries, but mine as well enjoy some Korean food while I'm here! Parking: There's a large parking lot, so finding a spot can be a hit or miss. This lot is always busy. Ambiance/Environment: There are lots of other Korean restaurants offering all types of different Korean foods. This one was most appealing to me bc they had tofu soups, bbq, noodles, bibimbap, and more. There's plenty of seating. It was veryyy busy when we visited during lunch time. Finding a table was a challenge. Service: We interacted with two workers. The male worker spoke limited English but enough to get by. He was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The female worker was courteous and attentive. Foods: Each dish came with banchan and more! 1) Beef Short Rib (soft tofu soup) - The soup was absolutely flavorful with a generous amount of tofu! The beef short ribs were big and came off the bone easily. 2) Galbi (BBQ) - Grilled beef short rib with sweet soy sauce, onion & green onions. Wow, the grilled smoky flavor brought me back to my childhood. The days when my family had our backyard bbq party. You know these hit when they remind you of your childhood. 3) Hot Stone Spicy Chicken (Bibimbap) - This had spicy chicken, rice, vegetables, furikake, & egg. I asked for mild spicy, and it had just the perfect kick for me. The chicken was cooked well and paired deliciously with everything else. Make sure to mix it right away or the rice will burn on the bottom! 4) Bulgogi Japchae - Stir fried glass noodles with vegetables & beef. This dish didn’t feel too heavy. The glass noodles were cooked well and had lots of flavor from the bulgogi. 5) Beef Brisket Kalguksu - Noodles served in beef bone broth with beef brisket. This is perfect for sick days. This dish honestly reminded me of chicken noodle soup but with beef lol. 6) Bulgogi Pancake - Their pancakes are thiccck. Don’t forget to dip! The sauce made it even more flavorful! Again, very generous with the meats. Pricing: The portions were larger than the actual picture. Each dish can be shared at least between 2 people. Definitely worth it! I got more than I should’ve, but now I have lunch & dinner leftovers for the week lol!
I am very impressed by the food here. I had low expectations as this place is inside the Hmart food court but the food quality is similar to a really good Korean restaurant. I love their pork soft tofu soup and it comes with enough banchan to have a very filling meal. The fried fish is really good! The price point is amazing for the quality and the owner is very sweet! Highly recommend!
Great food! We had the hot stone bibimbap great to share or take home. Portion are huge and price os great
it might not as good as bcd tofu, but you also dont need to wait that long for a decent tofu with a lot of panchan
Fast service and completely satisfied my craving for spicy tofu soup!

The food was amazing, and the vibe was very hospitable cuz there was a whole second meal of condiments on the tray, for free! The food took 10 min to arrive tho, which isn’t slow for the quality of the food, but isn’t exceptional either. I highly recommend the #13, “Cheese”.
Love this place! The food is always very tasty and flavorful, and the portions are generous. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. We love coming here with our family and always leave happy and full. Definitely a go-to spot for us. Highly recommend!

food is so so. the soup is a bit salty and not strong enough kimchi favor. the fish is not fresh, one part is bitter
Broth is great! Banchan selection is broad, but could be better. Basically a better version of BCD. Located in the H mart food court. Lines get long during lunch/dinner rush, but it's quick otherwise.
I got an actual good deal on this mandu dish. $10 for good sized mandu with banchan and rice and soup. Can't beat that in this food court.
like this place and had very delicious combo meal, big plate and good for 2 people.

They give you a lot of rice and banchan, which is good, but banchan tasted quite mediocre. It's a nice meal < $20 - that comes with rice, soontofu and the fried fish. But the taste when compared to kaju and bcd, it's slightly subpar. Service was really nice. We got all the extra bowls asked for without any issues. Oh also, we had a 2 yo boy in our group who really enjoyed their bone broth kalgulsoo

The meat might have been frozen for a long time — it had a strong freezer smell. It was so unpleasant that I couldn’t eat it. And it was also extremely tough , I couldn’t chew it at all.I wouldn’t back again.
We sampled a few places at this food court and everything was bad. It was one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Food is good enough for a quick fix without going far. Repeat customers but just waited 30 minutes for our food only to find out they do not give yellow corvina banchan for to-go orders. So for the same price and long wait I end up with less food than I expected.

On November 24, a woman refused to serve us, saying they were closed at 7.42 p.m. However, she served others of us. We came from far away especially for soup. Very disappointed with the service. Had to order from our neighbors.

The food is terrible and wait is long. I got mushroom tofu and there was literally ONE thinly sliced button mushroom in it, no enoki, no anything else but a ton of tofu (medium/firm tofu too, not soft tofu). The taste is surprisingly tasteless with a hint of tomato paste that will make Uncle Roger cry. For the price of it (15.99 plus tax), there's a lot better options out there so stay away unless you want to grab an uneventful lunch/dinner at H Mart. Disappointment!
One was burned too much. So, she had to give up enjoying her dinner. Some staffs look Korean and I think other countries people will not claim about it because of bad communication. I hope all consumers are not deceived with burn foods.
This place sucks. I think most people come here just for the convenience of being inside H-mart. But the food is very disappointing, the banchans are rubbish, and the price rival places like BCD. There are just way better choices in Irvine.
