Udon St Marks New York Reviews
Place speaks for itself, I mean just look at the photos. Some of the best udon I’ve had in my life including salaryman udon in suburbs of Tokyo. Small wait outside which was worth it. Cash only but they have an ATM. Service was quick and friendly and the prices were great. If I lived in the are I’d be here at least once a week minimum. Absolutely superb.
Delicious, well-priced and a great atmosphere where you see all the work happening in front of you. Wouldn't go with a big group, it's more of a casual setting, you can easily go on your own. Probably going to have a bit of a wait too, but the food is great.
This place is a gem! Prices were reasonable and our server was incredible. There was a small line when we got there at 5:30 so be prepared to wait. Overall an amazing meal!
The freshest udon noodles I've had in a long time; reminds me of home! Cash only, the service was quick and super nice. They let me ask questions and made me feel welcomed.
Cozy feeling udon shop! Got a takoyaki and udon set. The owner is Japanese and it was cool sitting next to a Japanese family and hearing them interact with some staff members. There’s a coast rack area by the entrance where you can leave large bags and coats. Some countertop seats and a few takes in the back. Noise levels are such that it can be slightly hard to hear your neighbor sometimes, so I’d recommend for solo or duo diners. Just note that it’s cash only and sitting by the door is pretty chilly.
I haven’t been here in a few years but, was very happy when I decided to try it again. The servers were friendly, and I enjoy watching the chefs working. FYI to first timers it’s cash only
[QUICK STATS] Food: Japanese Cuisine Service: Friendly Staff Interior: Clean and tidy, including the restroom! Price: $$ Relatively Cheap-- CASH ONLY! [REVIEW] Udon St. Marks is a gem in New York not many are willing to search for, but once you've gotten it, it is always a place worth coming back to. If you're looking for a fresh new spot and don't got a lot of dough on you, this place has the perfect portions and quality you're looking to impress your friends with. The interior is rather small, but they do have a lot of bar space if you're going with a friend or two. One of my personal favorite features is their coatrack and the bag hooks underneath the bar-- many miss it but it's definitely there! The bar overlooks their noodle kitchen so you can watch the chef's make your meal right in front of you! Quite the rustic charm, for sure. Recently, I had my all-time favorite, the Tempura Combo. This combination platter comes with a large bowl of udon topped with chives, a bowl of rice, four golden-fried veggies, and two large, perfectly crisp shrimps with a side of tempura sauce. The plating is 100% instagram worthy, and it actually tastes amazing too! Everything on the plate is made fresh and comes on a neat little tray. They even provide spice flakes and other condiments at the table, rich really up the flavor of the soup. Love coming here, and have since I was in High School. This place is near and dear to my heart, so if you haven't already, definitely give these guys a try. They totally deserve it!
For udon and curry at a reasonable price in st marks, this is the spot. This place did originally burn down and called udon west, and since changed the name after re-opening. The food is just as good as I remember( the noodles nice and bouncy and the curry just hit the spot with its meaty flavors bursting through every bite. Prices have increased a little but the value for the combo is literally two meals for the average person. Get toppings to customize your curry or udon. This place is cash only so be fore-warned. Also table seating is very limited to 4 two ppl tables with 3 of them being able to be combined for 6 ppl, but would recommend going with one other person for the most pleasant experience, since most seating is bar seating. Bathroom was clean and staff were friendly!
This place is cash only, and has limited seating. However their Udon and Japanse curry is absolutely bomb!. I had never had Japanese curry before! My girlfriend took me here and I was absolutely amazed. The food comes out super fast as well. They also have a small ATM by the entrance in case you find it that you forgot your bills!
Always an amazing experience at Udon St Marks. One of the only places I found to have truly amazing curry that you can take home and reheat the next day and still be satisfied. The food is always perfect and the service is always quick, perfect place to go to after work or with friends.
Thus place was fun and fast. Just what we needed for a night out. It’s not the best Udon I’ve ever had, but the price was right for the times and I loved all the fun options. For my fellow veggie fans. The kimchi udon + an egg and potato cake was the decadent veggie udon I was searching for. Don’t come here for an intimate sit down dinner. This is place is for a fast, cafeteria style meal.
My friend asked me to try out this place since it's somewhat tiktok famous? The line was a bit long probably due to this reason, but we were seated within 30min. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere, would be better if they didn't charge me 2.99 bucks for withdrawing cash (this place is cash only). The food is okay -- just standard Japanese udon, nothing too exciting but also not bad at all. After finishing our meal, we stayed for a few minutes before they asked us to leave because "other customers are waiting outside". I guess they can justify this by saying that Japanese restaurants do this a lot but then restaurants in Japan never ask for tips. Would probably go somewhere else for authentic udon.
I always came to eat here and needless to say I never had any bad experience however a few weeks ago I payed for my food and the waitress had a disgusting attitude telling me "Excuse me, I work off of tips" and she was desperate for the tips. I never had this issue while eating here and never had a problem with this issue and it is unprofessional behavior.
Loyal customer for almost a decade, but a recent surge in popularity has stretched the staff and severely damaged service. I was rejected from seating twice, the last time my party was waiting in line but we weren't all there yet. They asked us to move to the back of the line once we became whole. Lack of customer loyalty and poor service means I won't be returning to Udon St. Mark's.
Go here if you want to spend 20 bucks on udon noodles that you can easily make by yourself at home with terrible service where they force you to leave even when you’re not finished eating, and then ask you for forced tip. Also, as a secret Japanese speaker, I noticed that the staff here was discussing about the customer’s choice of food, this is unacceptable and rude, I will never go here again.
