Murphy's Law Rochester Reviews
Great old school Irish pub with friendly staff and good patronage. Very hard to get a proper Guinness outside of Ireland. The tap here puts out a good Guinness
I had fun. They have a great selection of drinks, beer (looks like about 26 taps, and lots more cans and bottles) and liquor. The bartender is super chill, really friendly and so are the other customers. There's a good intimate sitting up top and in the back, the music is not that intrusive and it's in a really nice part of the city. If you're visiting Rochester or you live here this is a really good place to go to sit down and enjoy a drink.
The service was excellent and the price of dinner and drinks was inexpensive. My friend enjoyed her soup very much, a tomato basil. The side salads my husband and I had were a good size. We all ordered the Shepherds Pie and while still tasty, it was not the recipe we are used to which has more of a brown gravy. This had a tomato base which as I said was tasty but not nearly as good as a brown gravy!
Security on busy nights is no joke. Thank you for keeping people safe
Been here a few times. Always decent beer selection and decent service. Disappointed to see food services was gone except for a few finger food items. Bartender was nice to recommend food choices nearby. Lots of TV's for sports.
This place is always packed on Friday and Saturday nights. I really enjoy that there tends to be a younger crowd. I've been here a few times and I can say the experience is never the same. Some nights, the music was so loud you needed ear plugs to hear anything. Other nights are pretty chill here. Theres two bar tenders that are really good at watching and working the bar but the others tend to forget there's two sides to the bar and the back side or far end of the bar tends to get ignored. The food here is amazing and honestly I'll probably be back to try some other stuff from the menu. Not all the bar tenders know about the Angel shot. New Years eve, a woman came running up to the bar and the bar tender didn't understand after she tried several times to explain. My friends and I ended up taking care of her. There's always cops parked outside the bar. I actually really appreciate this. There is a balcony here but it's never really open. There is enough seating and they have darts and games in the front corner. And of course, I can't express enough to how much we love Reggie. Reggie is such a key player in keeping the peace and keeping up a good vibe in the bar.
This is a great hangout. We stopped in on a Friday for a few drinks and a quick snack. The bartenders were attentive most of the time and the atmosphere was awesome. It was a nice night and the windows on East Ave were swung open to let everyone enjoy the random music as they walked by, and they did, it made for a great people watching event. We ordered a plate of fries and chicken quesadilla to share. The fries here are awesome and the quesadilla was ok, nothing special, but still good. One big mistake the bartender made was no utensils were given to us, we had to use our fingers to put sour cream on our side plates, she didn't check back in with us to see if we needed anything until we were finished. She was at the end of the bar speaking to a coworker with her back to us, and I had to take away a star for that.
A good place to go if you want to watch a game without the crowd of people. Service was fast and the games were on for football Sunday. We had a few draft beers and they all tasted weird. Walked back to the bathroom and passed the kitchen. It was extremely dirty and looked pretty unsanitary… but it’s a pub. Grab a drink, watch a game, go on your way.
This is not an Irish Pub. It took them 15 minutes to pour me a drink after asking what I wanted. Guinness was poured like a regular beer and served in a regular glass. I was 1 of 8 people in this establishment, sitting at the bar, and it was early in the day. So, it’s not like they ran out of proper Guinness glasses. Also, they do not serve any food that is remotely Irish. Their kitchen is contracted out and they serve paninis, pasta, etc. I was definitely not impressed. If you want a real pub feel with excellent food. Go the Old Toad a block down the street. Service is better and the food is absolutely amazing!
Decent food and drinks, horrible service. Been several times and the bartenders are inattentive and rude. Constantly on their phones and not paying attention to customers. We were given no napkins or plates for our wings, no one asked if we needed anything, and when I asked if there were any hand wipes the bartender responded "feel free to use the hose outside". Plenty of other bars to spend your money instead
This place is hot garbage. These losers act like you should be grateful for being allowed to step on their sticky floors, drink their poorly mixed drinks and use their bathroom that was last cleaned 10 years ago. Bottom of the barrel establishment in this city.
No where near an “Irish pub” been a few years but the decline in that of east ave has turned me off completely and I’m in my 30s now .
Waited so long to get serves and the bartender didn’t know how to make my drink and horrible service
My husband and I wanted to try this place because it looked very nice. We went in and sat at the bar. We waited 10 minutes and nobody even acknowledged us. We had 2 bar tenders look over and see us but never greeted us. A couple came in a few minutes later and they were immediately served. My husband and I got up and left. Upon getting up nobody said a word to us. We felt invisible. Won’t be going there again.
I work for a small brewery and they refused to give back our keg after it was empty. When I showed up in person to get it back, they wouldn't let me in the basement to retrieve it even after offering to repay the $30 deposit out of my own pocket. I ended up having to call the police to settle the dispute, at which point they had me trespassed by the police.
I went here after enjoying a nice dinner with my extended family. Much to my chagrin my adult daughter told me that the bartender "flipped" her off. When I asked the bartender if he actually did this, he smiled and said that he was "kidding". I couldn't believe that a man would flip off a young adult female and actually admit it thinking that this is "cute". I told him in no uncertain terms that showing double middle fingers to a woman is disrespectful. I can't believe that we paid to be so treated with such disrespect. Needless to say, I'll spend my time and money somewhere else where my family and I will not be blatantly treated so rudely. Definitely take your dignity and bypass this place.
The service was terrible… I had to keep asking to get my drink refilled despite them asking everyone around me if they were ready for another drink. I ordered chicken tenders and fries the fries were delicious but my chicken tenders were undercooked. I let the bartender know that they were under Cook and she looked at me crazy and said I’ll put another order in for you. I decided to leave so I asked to cash out and She slapped my receipt and card back on the bar table. I spent $25 on under cooked food in rude service. She did have them re-make my food but I left it right there because her attitude it was disgusting. I will not be going back.
