Maggie McGarrys San Francisco Reviews
Our group went bar hopping in Little Italy and decided this was our favorite spot for the night. Great dive bar with live music every time we visited. One night was a rock band, the next was a group covering 90's music. One drawback is that there is a price minimum to using a card. The bartender waved this for me the first night, but be prepared. 4.5 stars
This is consistently a fun bar to visit and give your liver some exercise. They have live music pretty often. Its located in a very entertaining neighborhood and has lots of great food nearby. The staff is always friendly and professional. I always swing be when I'm around to see what going on.
Great place to grab a drink to start the night. Fridays typically have live music. One of the better intimate, small bar music venues. Grab one of the tables near the moveable wall before the music starts.
Five stars for Arsenal fans. Maybe four stars for the rest. My favorite place in SF to watch football matches. Great service, fun crowd. Be forewarned that they don't serve food and you can't use a credit card for tabs under $20.
When the walls open, then the bar comes to life. What an experience! We had a simple drink and then it happened. A live band appeared behind us and people flooded in. It was absolutely wonderful and magical. Go. Have fun and be mystified if you are lucky enough for the walls to open. :) (literally the back wall is a false wall and opens up to a live band on Saturdays. It's awesome)
Just like the bar tender stated. A typical dive bar. It's very chill, good pours, the atmosphere was pleasant. Plenty of room for seating, lighting was dim but just right for the mood. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely stop by again.
Amazing place. During the week it's the neighborhood living room, on the weekend it's packed, thanks to the great live music. Special shout-out to Kathy, Jenny and Tristan who are outstanding hosts! Thanks for making me feel welcome like I lived here all my life. Love you!
A favorite local place. The de facto Arsenal pub in SF as it often opens early for the games. Now they have two screens facing outwards which is great for sitting outside and watching sport. Always friendly.
Maggie’s is the place to be! They are the most welcoming, and show all the football matches at any time of day. P.S. Come check out the band on Tuesday nights. We love you Bourbon Jam!
Awesome sports bar with a fine range of taps and a very large seating area, often open super early for international games—plus Wednesday trivia nights!
Good drinks, friendly service. Great neighborhood, but take muni, parking is?!!!! No food just libations.
Welcoming Irish sports bar. Great for soccer, especially if you are of a Man City persuasion.
Didn't try the food but the karaoke and the crowd are always a blast. Eileen is the best KJ in town.
Fun stop! Excellent bartenders!
The only place in San Francisco to watch Arsenal FC, Maggie's has been the home of the Bay Area Gooners for almost 20 years. These fervent Arsenal supporters turn up for every match regardless of start time. The atmosphere is electric and Maggie's bartenders take good care of you. You'll also occasionally see a small contingent of Man City fans as one of Maggie's owners is a City fan, but it's a Gooner bar. So if you need an excellent pint of Guinness while watching Arsenal in San Francisco, this is the place. 21+ only please
This place is so much fun!! We found this place during Santacon one year and we had such a good time that now every year we make sure we make it back to party here. The staff here is awesome even with so many people and as packed as it can get they still have good attitudes and take care if the customers right. It is a split building club with two bars, a live DJ, dance floor, some tables to hang out and have your drinks. Just all in all a fun spot to be when we head to the city for different events.
Excellent place! We dropped by for a couple of beers and were treated wonderfully! You definitely want to check this place out!
Fun late night spot! Great local bands ! Got to see the band LIBBA rock the house! 5 out of 5 stars for this North Beach hangout
Fun bar in north beach that gets super packed in the evening. Be attentive as it gets a bit crazy. Good live music though!
Fun bar with a Parklet and friendly employees

Everything an authentic neighborhood Irish bar should be and in a fun part of San Francisco. What more could you ask for?!

Love this place. Such high energy on match days. Mick is the sweetest bartender.

Nice Irish dive in the heart of North Beach, lively atmosphere and cold beers served by friendly staff. Can get busy, especially during happy hours. Good pricing and good beer selections.
Not the cleanest pub you’ll ever set foot in—but what it lacks in polish, it makes up for in proper football vibes. Great Guinness, loads of screens, and a cracking atmosphere for City matches (home of the SF Blues, no less). No food when I went, so line your stomach first. The Irish landlord is great craic and the regulars are lovely.
Nice local bar, had a wonderful time watching FA cup final with strangers and good beer
Sat at the sidewalk seats and caught some of the Euro game. They had the TV turned towards the sidewalk for convenience! Beer was good on the hot afternoon. Bummer was that my daughter was not allowed on pub property because she is underage even as we were outside.
Popped into this bar to have a couple of drinks after having some pizza at the awesome Golden Boy Pizza just around the corner. It was quite quiet up until one guy rolled up very drunk, but it didn't ruin the vibe as we were finishing up and about to go anyway. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff.
Great bar, came here Saturday morning for an Arsenal game. I’m told the front of the bar is Manchester city and back is for Arsenal. Great atmosphere—hit this up for all your games!
They had a young band playing. Didn't understand a word. Still fun place.

I didn't appreciate the cover, where only men had to pay to get in. Seems a little old fashioned if you ask me. The place was crazy packed, there was a DJ in a room we couldn't get to. So we stayed by the bar and got leaned on by giant drunks. Definitely not my scene, but hey, the Irish coffee was good.
We ordered cocktails first and they weren’t great. Ordering beers the second round was a much better choice. It’s worth coming if you like eclectic cover bands, the band played music from just about every genre.
I think I lost 20% of my hearing from the live cover band it was so loud, but they were fun and interacted with the crowd. Bartender wasn’t the friendliest which is fine but I love when people are friendly. Also had a minimum on card purchases so I had to buy more to use my credit card

Went on a Saturday night. The live band was awesome. There's a small dance floor, too. No top shelf booze and gets crowded.

We lost a phone at this location. Staff said they have not seen a phone. We were able to ding it with a watch that was connected. The phone was put on a drain behind the counter with water dripping on it. Staff was terrible and 100% were the ones who placed the phone there even though they said they did not see a phone. Maria was the bartender
The worst bar I’ve ever been in my whole life. The waiter, probably the manager was so rude with us, we were trying to get some drinks and she was attending everyone except us, so we told her and her answer were: “if you don’t like that, you just have to go to the bar next door”, and of course, that’s what we did. Very irresponsible way to treat customers, disappointing.
Came in for a quick beer and it was great until we were at a window seat & the bar hopper thought I was taking a photo of him and came in super aggressive towards me. He didn’t approach me in a curious matter, where I could of corrected that I was not taking a photo of him, instead he approached me super aggressive so I left. Don’t bother.
They are homophobic don’t come here if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. They are not welcoming or friendly towards people who aren’t cis white straight males.
I live close by, and used to like this place until last night (June 14th to June 15th night). We ordered a beer, I said “lager for me and IPA for my friend”, they brought both, and my friend wanted more after she finished her first beer. After the first sip of the second round, my friend found out that it was not the same beer, and the taste was not good at all. I tried it and agreed. I went to a bartender, and nicely said that the beer tasted different, and asked her which one was that. The bartender was so rude, and she said that she had 3 IPA and she didn’t remember which one she poured, and I should specify what I want. I responded “how would I know you have 3 types if you didn’t tell me that”. She yelled at me, so I yelled back. How come when you ask the same drink, they’ll pour anything they wanted? Or isn’t it right to tell me before I order that you have 3 types of IPA and ask me to specify before i order. You have your mouth and you should be able to communicate and take care of your customers.
I did come here due to the good reviews but i was unable to enter the bar because the security guy could not read the birth date on my Romanian id card to validate my age even after i did explain where was my date of birth placed. The bad thing was that my friends had already buy the beers by the time the security guy consulted with the barman about my id, and he didn't even let me sit outside with my friends after i told him that I won't drink any beer and that i only want to sit until my friends finish the beer. In conclusion the security guy was narrow minded and he should be able to read some basic dates on ids.
There was a group of women who came here and had their drinks roofied. The staff at this bar failed to address the situation. This is clearly not a safe place for women to go to. Please ladies, look out for each other and avoid places like this.
Just came in to check out the place as I’ve been here several times before. Bartender was a bit aggressive and made me feel like an outsider. Would recommend the bar next store Tupelo. Much friendlier staff and great music.
My group was treated pretty poorly here by staff. Way better Irish bars in SF and bars in north beach to patron that don’t treat you and your group rudely.
Worst aperol spritz I’ve ever had. I watched the bartender fill 75% of my glass with soda water and ice. It only had a splash of aperol and Prosecco. Unfortunately, I was too polite to decline the watery drink.
they steal your card and wallet in line. I got in and use my id to come in next thing I know my wallet and phone is stolen out of my purse. They are all in on theft.
Guinness had a smell and tasted very off. Not the friendliest of bartenders working the Monday afternoon shift.
