Sakana-Ya Sushi Bar Syracuse Reviews
This is a great Sushi 🍣 bar in Syracuse New York. They have been in army square for long time and always delicious and fresh Sushi. The picture of my favorite sushis are uploaded...
Sushi is probably one of my favorite go to meals, and conveyor belt sushi is just so much fun. I definitely over ate 😂 There were some unique sushi options I've never tried before, one being a fruit California roll? Honestly LOVED it. The mango with some strawberry sauce and fresh fruit? Just wow. Also special ordered the Tataki (think that was the name) and that was amazing as well!!! Keep in mind, specially made rolls are not part of the half off deal (only sushi on the conveyor belt counts). Wish they did a few more of their special rolls on the belt but couldn't eat another bite by the end lol. Give this place a try if you're in the area!!
The sushi was delicious. Many great options, and tons of available sushi. The conveyer belt was always full of different roles. Additionally, you had the option to order small hot dishes (crab Rangoons, dumplings, etc). They also had normal meals available as well. The sushi was priced per plate color (Yellow=12$, Blue=8$, etc). And the sushi was half priced! Definitely recommend.
I mean you can’t really get better than sushi on a conveyor belt. The atmosphere is great. The conveyor sushi belt is such a cool and fun concept. They have easily 20+ sushi options going around at all times. We sampled about 10 different varieties when we went and were not disappointed. The sushi bar is currently running half off sushi form the conveyor belt so not only is it delicious sushi but also a stellar price. This place was a blast and everything fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to go back. Keep in mind, prices are listed by the color of the plate and it’s easy to eat a lot of sushi and rack up a large tab so keep that in mind.
(3/13/2025) Update, second trip was way better. I went with a friend to the dining room for restaurant week and foe thirty bucks a person we got stuffed with amazing Asian cuisine. We loved it. Friendly staff and great food. Very clean and quick service. (First review 8/7/2024) So my sister and I went on a Monday which is apparently half off most items and it was interesting. We had all sorts of rolls. The plates are color-coated to indicate the price and it's easy to figure out but check to see if it's a half-off time window. I didn't realize we were saving until we got the check. I went for my birthday, having not had sushi in years and it was a good experience.
Conveyor belt sushi in Syracuse, ya that is right. In Armory Square area, you will find this little restaurant cranking out sushi for locals and tourists. We were shocked to find it, and after already eaten lunch, we had to try. The sushi rice was very good. Fish is what you expect for sushi in North America, acceptable, but it's not Japan. However, the winner here is the 50% off during happy hour and the conveyor belt experience. Will be back with the kids.
I loved this place! Cheap half price sushi on Monday, conveyor belt sushi is always a blast. But the real treat was when i ordered some fresh The 007 and fruit rolls were 🔥🔥🔥 Absolutely delicious. I went back 3 times for those alone. They also had great crab Rangoons for the price And my server was so so so nice! His favorite roll was also the fruit roll, younger with glasses. I'm sorry i didn't get your name!!! Super super lovely, great service, very nice and welcoming
The atmosphere was clean and bright with a general feel good vibe. The sushi I had was very good. The mango had tuna in it and it was very refreshing taste that was both sweet and spicy. The she so hot roll also was very good. I like hot but this wasn’t super hot but very flavorful. My friend got orange chicken and it was good. My wife got bee bop ( Korean dish) and she loved it. The waiter was very friendly and helpful
Went here for the first time today and will be going back for sure! Family wanted sushi and I looked online and saw that this place had a conveyor and looked fun. Not only was it a fun experience, the sushi was excellent! Also, all the sushi was half price! all plates we grabbed were between $3 and $6.50. We tried 5 different sushi rolls and had two plates of fried dumplings. Or total bill for the 3 of us was $26. Each color plate has its own price and you only pay half. This will be a staple for us moving forward.
My first time visiting and I cannot wait for the next! Quick, friendly service and absolutely delicious food. We also had the honeydew and mango bubble teas, which were a bit sweeter than those we've had elsewhere but still quite good. My boyfriend had the sake jelly shot which was certainly different: slightly fizzy, sweet-tart... interesting. We also happened to arrive when they were offering specific items for half price, which was a lovely surprise, too! Heartily recommend this restaurant.
LOVE visiting Sakana-Ya. Lunch time is the best on Mondays and Tuesdays because conveyor belt sushi is half off. You can get a huge lunch on a budget! Plus, if you don't see the dish you want coming around, they will quickly make it for you. Just be sure to get there early on half price days because the counter fills up quickly! PS the edamame is perfect.
We sat at the conveyer belt for sushi. The sushi itself is decent, with spicy tuna being my favorite. Some sushi plates were mediocre, such as seared tuna and cupcake roll. Overall it was a good experience. Also, the restaurant promoted 50% off all conveyer belt sushi, but the original price ranges from 7 to 14 dollars per plate (4 pcs each), which is unreasonable and unheard of. The 50% off is more like a regular price in other conveyer belt sushi restaurants elsewhere.
Heartbreak roll, spicy salmon, and hot and sour soup from the menu where very good. Clean bathroom! Conveyor belt sushi was an interesting new experience for us. It was half price. Overall good choice.
Stopped here while in Syracuse and I was seated as soon as I walked in. I decided to eat here because they advertised half priced specials! Food did not disappoint — and I’m pretty picky about sushi! Only critique was that it was a bit hard to see what sushi you were getting (though they did have color coordinated plates which made it a bit easier). Overall, definitely recommend if you want a quick and inexpensive meal!
Sakana-Ya is a fun experience with good sushi. It's nice inside and the SUSHI bar is fairly large with a good amount of seating. We did the conveyor belt for lunch on this visit. There's a solid selection of Sushi on the conveyor belt with a variety of prices marked by the color and design of the plate. It can certainly get pricey quick so I'd recommend finding a half price day to attend. Service was fast as we got to sit immediately and the belt was moving. They are very quick to clean up the covers of your plates, but you'll keep your plates and they will total the cost at the end of your dining. Nothing blew me away, but it was nice to try a wide variety of sushi dishes. I recommend giving it a go, I think you'll be pleased that you did. Enjoy!
I went there on a Wednesday for the first time, and was thinking it was going to be all that great because it's half the sushi, half price.... Anyway, everything was good, that we picked, I was actually very impressed. They also had many great options to choose from. Anyways we had such a great time we went back out that same week on Saturday. It didn't have as many different options, and some of them were cold because they been sitting going around. You're paying for what you like, so the better sushi option you have, the more people going pay for it. I didn't fully enjoy the second time. I saw a couple left after one bite, saw them we we were leaving next door at a different restaurant.
The food was awesome and prepared perfectly. Great dinner choices... not just sushi. Bento boxes with flavor and flash. Pad thai, sizzling Udon. Prices are very reasonable. Two star deduction for service. We ordered sushi and dinner entrees but a plate was never cleared. All plates and entrees were placed at the end of the table. There was no follow-up and many of the sauces were not provided. The food is worth the visit. The food is better eaten in, it's fresher & hotter. I hope the service, at my next visit, is as good as the food. This place would be packed ceiling to floor with a wait list if that was the case.
I went here many years ago for conveyor belt sushi before the craze of all you can eat sushi started popping up around Central and Western New York And it was decent. But I stopped here for their traditional take out menu while I was in town tonight and got the teriyaki dinner bento box. And was not impressed. It's a good amount of food for the price unfortunately the tempura side was very thickly coated for tempura and undercooked as well. The fried gyosa were way overdone. The teriyaki chicken with vegetables were cooked well but The sauce tasted watered down. The shumai, miso soup, seaweed salad and California roll were all pretty good though. On the positive side the service was friendly and in my order came out fairly quickly.
