Avis sur Gersi Brooklyn
I had an amazing experience at Gersi. I took my dad for his birthday over the holidays and when we arrived, they have a “happy birthday” sign on the table. Everyone working there was extremely friendly. The espresso martini I had was very tasty. We ordered three pastas to share… carbonara, spaghetti al limone with grilled chicken (my favorite) and rigatoni ragu. Delicious dishes! We will be back :)
This is one of the hidden gems of Brooklyn. The owner, Gersi, has assembled a beautifully trained staff of chefs, servers, hosts, and bartenders that offer beautiful Italian foods, at affordable pricing. If you're lookin for a great dish, with flavors you won't find anywhere else, Look no further than Gersi.
One of the better places to eat in Carroll gardens for sure. The tables are small, so you need to be conscious of how much you're ordering at a time. But the food, drinks, and service are always incredible. You want to make sure you have a reservation, especially on the weekend.
I’m embarrassed to say that we’ve been in the neighborhood all this time and this was our first meal at this warm, welcoming restaurant. We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender about cocktails while we watched him work his magic. And everything we had was delish! The special “winter salad” may be the best salad I’ve ever eaten, anywhere, and the spaghetti al limone was outstanding. We also had lovely glasses of red and white wine from a nice Italian selection. We will be back soon
We had a wonderful experience at Gersi! I had my birthday party here and we were a large party of 13 people. The staff was extremely accommodating, even when I had to make changes to the reservation day-of. They were super friendly and attentive while we were eating and even set the table with cute little birthday cards! The food was DELICIOUS. We ordered a wide variety of items from the menu and nothing disappointed. I especially loved the lemon spaghetti, chicken parmesan, and tiramisu! Highly recommend this little spot.
Came for my birthday. I was running late and they still accommodated. I had big balloons and they were sooo sweet and didn’t mind. Everyone who served us and waited on us was sweeter than the next, impeccable impeccable service. We had a reservation to run to after and they were so hasty in the best way we needed. Food was delicious, lemonade was so tasty. Would definitely return.
I was looking for an authentic Italian experience and I found it! Handmade pasta and the BEST house sauces (lemon, cream, red - everything is uniquely delicious). Generous portions of crab and other proteins. Try the veal meatballs and mushroom bruschetta. Explore vegetarian options too! They can sub today’s house pasta in most dishes which I love. Ask for the specials because they tend to have many off-menu options every day. Seating is somewhat intimate but never uncomfortable. The server was so attentive despite a full house on a weekend.
Small place in Brooklyn but really good Italian food; it does take a while for food to come, but worth the wait Ricotta cheese was fresh Pasta in the presto was a bit hard at first bite, but when we told them, the fixed it right away and apologized; better if they would have reimbursed us for our trouble Nice romantic place if you wanna take someone; seating outside in front and back Parking is an issue but it is Brooklyn
This is our third visit to Gersi, and the food continues to impress. The seafood here is even better than Carbone’s — I was blown away by the steamed clams the first time I had them. While Carbone still wins on pasta, Gersi holds its own with fresh, flavorful dishes. The atmosphere is a different story — and in the best way. At Carbone/Torrisi, it feels like you need to bring your Hermès just to match the scene. At Gersi, I still carry mine, but no one’s paying attention — you could show up in flip-flops and still feel totally at home. It’s casual, cozy, and full of the charm of a true neighborhood Italian spot. Their brunch is perfect too.
Went to this place after going to floating therapy at 9:30 pm and it was the best choice. As an Italian myself, I can guarantee you that the menu is def typical center-north cuisine. The home-made pasta was delicious at the atmosphere was relaxing (maybe also because it was late) 100% recommended.
What a wonderful place. From the moment I stepped in, they immediately made me feel welcomed. It was exactly a place I was looking for. Somewhere welcoming. Woth excellent food. Louis, the bartender, was next level. This place was a wonderful treat... Starters - Mozzarella di Buffala (way bigger than thought) Drink - house made warm cider with bourbon and lemon Entrée - Black Ink Squid pasta with Calamari Drink - Ruby Margarita - pomegranate w orange liquor Complimentary Expresso martini from Louis the bartender. Awesome bartender. Finished off with a most perfect Tiramisu and cappuccino, exactly the way I love it. Can't do that lady finger cracker version that version is not for me.
We had an amazing dinner at Gersi BKL. We ordered kale+spinach gnocchi, clam linguine, octopus carpaccio, and trout with sautéed veggies. The food was just amazing and great portion for the price. My baby loved the gnocchi. Bread and cannellini were on the house. The staff were also very attentive and kid-friendly. The place itself is so cute as well. Will come back for other dishes because they all look so delicious. Thank you Gersi.
Delicious food, consistently good, and the staff is very friendly. What prompted me to a write a review is the thoughtful takeout order. It felt really good when I opened the bag at home and I saw that they included their delicious bread and white beans. The small things matter! The brunch menu is quite extensive and has way more than eggs and toast. I'm always pleased and surprised by its quality, so I recommend it effusively.
Stopped in after a show absolutely starving. Glad we did! This place serves Italian size servings. 🙏 I’m a sucker for black linguine and seafood dishes and the portions did not disappoint- clams and calamari to my heart’s delight. The clam sauce dish was very flavorful. The calamari dish maybe could have been a little more flavorful but it was still delicious. I’m also a sucker for prosciutto with fruit so we started with that - again, generous portions! Hit the spot. Tiramisu was good and massive too- on the creamier side in terms of lady finger/cream ratio. Vibes also were perfect: quiet, cozy and lowkey. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. You can also see the kitchen a little bit which is always fun. Will have to return for the lemon pasta…
We came here for NYE dinner and it was packed and had a great energy. Full tables inside and on the outdoor heated backyard. Service was great, especially given how busy they were and food and drinks did not take too long. The spicy rigatoni is actually very spicy, unlike similar dishes at other restaurants. Everyone enjoyed their meal!
I visited Gersi just last night to celebrate with my mom. I chose this spot because I’ve always enjoyed the food here, which made last night’s experience especially disappointing. We ordered the grilled calamari as an appetizer, followed by the spaghetti al limone and the pappardelle with mushrooms, along with two glasses of Pinot Noir. The service and ambiance were top-notch, and even on a cold evening the restaurant was filling up. Unfortunately, the food itself fell short. Neither the grilled calamari nor the pastas had much flavor, which was surprising given my previous experiences. I was shocked, and my mom was understandably upset. Gersi has been wonderful in the past, so I truly hope this was just an off night. 2024 & 2025 - Gersi is a wonderfully cozy Italian spot with truly amazing food — especially their homemade pastas and their simple-but-perfect lettuce salad topped with grated Parmesan. Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and the surrounding neighborhoods are genuinely lucky to have such well-established Italian restaurants with consistently great dishes, and Gersi is definitely one of them. A charming, delicious staple worth returning to!
My son, husband, and I dined here last night. I apologize that I have to be honest. I asked for no meatballs for with my gluten free pasta because I am gluten intolerant. I mentioned it several times to the server. The dish came out with meatballs in it and it had to be sent back.Truly, I should have been comped for the mistake. Therefore, I did not get to eat with my son and husband. I told them to go ahead and enjoy their meal while it was hot. The tomatoes in the my Caprese salad were not ripe, poor quality, and hard. Tomatoes should be garden fresh, bright red, juicy, and tender in a Caprese salad. Towards the end of the meal, my son asked for bread to soak up some sauce on his plate. Bread obviously came with dinner, but we were never offered it throughout the meal. And one last thing. The grated parmesan cheese came out in a small ramekin and I had to ask for the cheese. This is an Italian restaurant. The cheese should be freshly grated on top of your food table side. With just a few tweaks and attention to detail, this would have been an amazing meal.
