Opinions de Golden Wuish Albee Square
The decor and ambience of this restaurant is beautiful and comfortable and even at 2am, there were still a good amount of patrons, inside and in their outdoor seating area on Memorial weekend. There was a DJ playing inside which was a surprise because the music choice didn't really fit, but didn't bother us. Our server was very friendly and attentive and I wish I remembered his name. I would definitely come back for repeats and to try more of their dishes. Wagyu Beef Dan Dan Noodles- Oddly, it looked like noodle soup and not enough noodles. But the flavors and beef were delicious. Truffle Soup Dumplings- So good. I like that it came in individual bowls with the vinegar already, but that also meant less dumplings than a standard serving. (4 instead of 6) Matcha Lava Cake- Deliciously perfect.
I had the pleasure of dining at Golden Wuish tonight. My partner and I got the half duck, which was perfectly roasted with crispy skin that melted in your mouth. Personally I prefer buns to wraps, but the tender meat made up for it. Every bite was a delight! The soup was tasty as well, not too salty. Tiramisu for dessert was a perfect end to the experience. Our server, Jason, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, ensuring our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. The music was a bit too loud in the beginning but mellowed out as the night went on.
We visited Wuish for my Fiance’s birthday in Dec 2022, and it was the most memorable dining experience I’ve ever had. My compliments to the Owner, Chef, and staff. Every moment was a night to remember. I’ve enjoyed fine dining in some beautiful countries, Islands and states but nothing compared to the A1 treatment that we received. Everything was exquisitely prepared and delicious. The dining atmosphere was superb. If you’re ever in New York and want a great dining experience you must visit WUISH, it was well worth the money and time.
This restaurant is just a pure gem! I'm kinda wishing not to put this review because it's so good (me just being selfish lol). The options for drinks are great and the food is delectable. It's very hard to find a restaurant that does calamari right! My friends and I had a great time and can't wait to go back!!
I'm a huge fan of roast duck. When my significant other suggested we visit the city for my birthday weekend, I started looking for my "big night" dinner restaurant. I happened upon Golden Wuish based on rave reviews at numerous sites. I checked out the menu and some pics and I was all in. It was a fabulous decision! The staff were awesome, the drinks were tasty and the food was to die for. We overindulged and ordered a few small plates while we waited for the duck to be prepared (BIG HINT - reserve a duck in advance!). The "Smashed Cucumber" was so unbelievably delicious. The Shrimp Basil was 3 perfectly cooked, individually skewered extra large shrimp with a surprisingly Italian twist. The Beef Negimaki was tasty, but a little tough to chew. Onto the main course - the duck. In addition to all the flair with the duck being flame-roasted and carved tableside, this was the finest duck I have ever had. The skin gets extra-crispy from the flames. They serve most of the carved duck immediately on an elaborate and ornate platter with a handle. Some of it goes into a tableside smoker pot while the remainder heads back to the kitchen to become the third course which is a yummy soup. Every course was incredible. As a bonus, my girlfriend informed the waitstaff that it was my birthday. A large group of staff came out to sing the obligatory Happy Birthday with a giant sparkler shooting flames out of a piece of cheesecake (which was also quite good). I have to say, it was both a superb dining experience as well as a visual extravaganza. Go there. Get the duck. Order it in advance.
Came here with my date and we had a blast, Pecking duck was so juicy and crispy at the same time, so tasty, we had the Octopus Cesar salad , the Cocktails were amazing, so well balanced and tasty, we had the Lucky Daiquiri and the Hong Kong Mule, everything tasted so fresh, you can tell that they really care about their ingredients and we finished with the table side Tiramisu and champagne … tiramisu was so fresh we almost order another one. Over all, amazing cocktails, food and music … goof vibes
Very impressive with the overall experience. Food was delicious, staff welcoming, provided excellent service throughout my visit and the ambiance was amazing. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. Loved the duck presentation!!
Best Chinese food I've had in New York. We came here for lunch after a tour of the Brooklyn Bridge. It's relaxing and cozy, perfect for dining with friends. The cumin lamb chops and steamed cod are fresh and flavorful, which I highly recommend! I will definitely go back to this store again.
I was invited to visit Wuish for dinner a few months back and can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review! The food was absolutely fanatic, 5 stars all around. The Peking duck was by far the best I've ever had - we were fighting over pieces of crispy skin. So flavorful and wonderful! The roast boneless spare ribs with honey are an absolute must-order appetizer. Although the meat is served off the bone, you get everything you'd expect (crispy, fatty, melty) from a traditional spare ribs. I made this gesture 🤯 after my first bite! They're quite different than Dad's Spare Ribs, which we were also served. Dad's come on the bone and are made with five spice to hit every type of taste, and were super juicy and fun to eat. If I had to choose between the two, though, I'd go with honey roasted. The lamb chops with cumin had an excellent sear, and the crispy cumin and other aromatics really elevated the dish. Loved the flavors and the texture, some of the best lamb I've ever been served. The signature dim sum was great, too. We loved the presentation and the sauces that came with it. It would be a great app to share or eat all for yourself. IMO, Wuish is a great place to go if you're trying to impress someone - I definitely was!
Exceeded Expectations by far! I’ve tried a few duck houses around New York and honestly had thought I had a favourite before stepping into Golden Wuish. Firstly, the service was impeccable, Anthony and Santaigo were our servers, genuinely friendly, great conversation, checked in on us regularly and made amazing recommendations on what to try on the menu. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but we wanted to try a bit of everything and do worth it too. I went with just one friend and needless to say we are taking everyone in our group chat back here next week 😅
My fiance found this place on Instagram when looking for somewhere to eat over the weekend. As soon as I looked at their page I was so excited. The service is amazing and attentive. The presentation of the drinks and dishes are magical and make the experience even better. We got the Peking Duck experience which requires at least 2 hours advance notice. It is served tableside and is spectacular and tastes amazing. The duck is served 3 ways. We also had the duck nachos which were outstanding. I almost cried at the presentation of my smoked cocktail. Everything is so beautiful and delicious and served with such care.
Great chinese modern food. Atmosphere is excellent. Food is very good, i always order lobster mabo tofu which is made of right amount of spiciness. I have not tried Peking duck yet. Will come back here again.
This is genuinely the most delicious Peking Duck I have had in Manhattan - it's served three different ways: the classic way, wood-smoked, and in a broth, and they are all delicious. The vibe is great and the service is top notch. The cocktails are also delicious, and their starters as well. Have gone several times and it is still one of my favorite NYC spots for sure.
We came here after a spa day looking for a light dinner. Pleasantly surprised by the small plates style service. From the appetizers of lamb bao and potstickers - to our cumin lamb and this amazing dessert of a chocolate dome which was by far something fantastic! Not only that but tables nearby also had the most amazing things pulled out of the kitchen for them including a FLAMING DUCK! I must say that duck was gone quickly. Not only that but the nostalgic music full of 90s,early 2000s soothing remixes was just pleasant to listen to.
Had such an amazing dining experience at Golden Wuish! The food and drinks were delicious, the peking duck show was fun and the service was great. All the dishes we ordered were quite good. The standouts had to be the smoked duck, clay pot rice, and duck soup. This restaurant is definitely the go to spot to impress parents! I will be back.
just had an INCREDIBLE dinning experience at @goldenwuishnyc open until late night (1am) delivery an exceptional dinning experience. Don’t walk, run to the DUCKHOUSE now‼️ Foodies, listen up ‼️ The most authentic Peking Duck toasted in three ways: Peking duck wraps Smoked slices Duck soup Welcome to the Asian-Cuisine Wonderland. Please have more patience for waiting a Fresh-made Duck, cooked perfectly balance of crispy & juicy. The flaming Duck is the EXPERIENCE & MOMENT. Wants more? Oh course, Dim Sum Set always my to-go appetizer. The Chili Chicken is the new dish? OMG! SO AMAZING. Bao Zai Fan absolutely the hidden dish at GoldenWuish never disappointed of the crispy rice, it is the SOUEl.
A fine dining experience with excellent service! Asian food with heavy Cantonese roots. We went on Mother’s Day and they gave us a complimentary pink sangria. Got the char sui with salted egg yolk, stone sizzling wagyu, and grilled beef prime ribs - the meat melted in my mouth. The vegetable dishes were very delicious as well- Chinese broccoli and wood ear cucumber salad. Definitely an elevated experience.
This experience was top-notch. Yum Cha Set - A nice sampler of different flavors. Flaming Peking Duck - You have to pre-order if you want the whole duck. I added it as a note when I made my reservations online. Wow, the duck was truly the star of the show. It's served three different ways: roasted, smoked, and soup. I loved everything about the presentation. First, they light up the duck in a fiery display, then they cut and artfully serve the duck. Then, they smoked some of the duck right in front of us. They brought the leftovers back to the kitchen to make soup. I enjoyed all three versions of the duck. Wagyu Beef DanDan Noodles - Tasty, but very spicy. Tiramisu - Cute dessert made table side. Dinner here was like watching a show from beginning to end. Our server was so sweet and kind, too. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys duck.
5 stars easily!!!! Fidi needed this spot desperately and I’m so excited it’s here. Happy hour is incredible and such a good deal. I mean $1 dumplings ? How can you not?! They are incredible especially the dipping sauce. Go and maybe bring your friends or coworkers! It’s a great spot for happy hour or dinner in Fidi :) enjoy !!
We celebrated a milestone birthday for Mommy and Golden Wuish did not disappoint. The ambience and aesthetic of this restaurant is very sexy and visually appealing. Its a nice place for a date a group dinner or if you want to hang at the bar and people watch good looking people. Service was A-1. They took very good care of us. We dined on a smorgashboard of everything. We started with the flaming peking duck experience. The duck was crispy and succulent. We tried it smoked, in wraps and soup. We shared a dim sum platter with an assortment of dumplings. We ordered The lamb chops, lobster and tofu, braised pork knuckle, lobster and tofu mapo, black truffle fried rice, and duck tacos. We ended the dinner by singing Happy Birthday to the Ole Gal. She had a chocolate cate and we tried the moon cake. We had so much food and I want to go back to try the dan dan noodles and the spicy prawn. This experience was a good time.
-Edited for later visits: the front desk has changed to a very nice Asian lady (or I happened to have a different person this time) while the quite rude waiter was the same as before. Food had been consistently good for my follow up visits. I liked their food very much and the duck show. Service could be better especially the front desk. The place is quite small and shares bathroom with the hotel. I would go again for their food.
Amazing place!! Duck is literally and figuratively on fire. We come here 2-3 times monthly and absolutely fun every time. Have taken our family, team, clients, and many friends here. What a lovely menu. Of course have the duck - prepared various ways as a soup, bones and in pancakes of course. Also try Dan Dan noodles and pepper steak too. Fantastic menu, staff, and location in downtown. The best best best!
The bartender Reggie was amazing. We sat at the bar and he came up with unique drinks for us that tasted delicious! A true passionate bartender and mixologist. Soup dumplings and Szechuan wontons were great. He even gave us free tequila shots! Highly recommend! Great service and amazing guy!
I was in this restaurant with my friends last night and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish was well prepared, and I really enjoyed everything I ordered. The service was also excellent. The waiter Jazz were polite, friendly, and very attentive. They welcomed me warmly and made sure I had everything I needed throughout the meal. Their thoughtful and helpful attitude made the dining experience even better.
Celebrated my birthday here and had the time of my life!!! Jimmy is doing an incredible job with the management of Golden Wuish. The service is always unforgettable, personal and warm. The food never misses - my favorite spot for duck in the city. I have come back at least 5 times this year and continue to bring people I love to share my experience. Highly recommended stopping by!
Golden Wuish is a must try restaurant. My family and I dined here last weekend and we were very impressed! The decor and ambiance of this restaurant is amazing, making it perfect for a date night or night out. Asma was our waitress and she was very patient with us as we had a few questions about the menu and she also provided great recommendations. The flaming peking duck is a must! The presentation of dishes was by far very pleasing to the eye. We would pass on the duck and pork clay fried rice as the rice was hard but highly recommend the peking duck, the yum cha set, black truffle soup dumplings, honey walnut shrimp and table side tiramisu. Thanks Asma for providing a wonderful dining experience, we will definitely be back.
It is SOOO worth it. The whole duck experience is $98 plus $10 to do the Salt & Pepper duck bones option gets you Peking Duck four ways (regular, Lychee wood smoked, soup, and S&P duck bones) plus pickled duck wings free. This typically is enough to feed 3 to 4. We added Squid Ink Fried Rice and some drinks, and the total was only $200 with tax and tip.
I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was here. The quality was awesome. Definitely try starting with the black truffle soup dumpling. Followed by the lamb chops and pig knuckles. Trust me both are amazing! I was so full I didn’t have room for dessert but the options looked great. The service was top notch! They were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend you try this place.
chinese-approved. they’re a little bit more fusion and I’m usually wary of that because it’s almost always never done well, but everything was very good. the duck course of smoked duck, soup and bones was awesome. even the beef nachos, that I very begrudgingly agreed to, slapped. my favourite was the clams.
If you love Peking duck, you have to try Golden Wuish in the financial district. They offer a unique cocktail infused with Peking duck fat, and their tableside presentation of flaming Peking duck cooked three ways – roasted, smoked, and as a duck broth soup – is exceptional. Every dish is not only beautifully presented but also incredibly delicious. And don't miss their tableside tiramisu, it's the best I've ever had. This spot is a must-add to your list!
I’ve been to Golden Wuish(The Duck House) and I must say they have some of the tastiest, least fatty , extra cellist , fresh flavorful Peking Duck ….I love how not only do you get the Duck but they also bring over sealed clay hot pots with smoked duck( literally smoking inside the pot at your table!) you can request salt and pepper roast duck bones… I LOVE the tender meat close to the bone and they even serve a little bowl of duck soup at the end of the meal… Duck dumplings, soupy buns… everything is yummy and my compadres adore the lichee martinis. All and all a fun place for a biking duck party but totally fine to go for dinner of 2 !
As soon as we walked in, the restaurant was beautiful, the staff was incredibly kind, and the food was delicious. We weren’t very hungry so we got half a Peking duck, but we immediately regretted not getting a whole portion. One of the best Peking ducks I’ve ever eaten. Dessert was also great, super cute and aesthetic. Would recommend wholeheartedly.
An absolutely incredible experience! I came for the flaming duck, and stayed for everything else… Chef herself came out, and roasted the duck three ways, and carved it up for us it was the most amazing duck I’ve ever ever tasted! The dim sum is also incredible, I had the pork dumplings with chili oil, and also duck dumplings, Yum. I must order is the Wagyu on the hot stone and absolutely all the drinks are amazing! Jimmy and Anthony took amazing care of us. I will absolutely be back with friends. Incredible Restaurant !
I loved this spot! What a cool find right next to our hotel. Good: - The ambiance was great for catching up, not too loud and dim lighting - For such a fancy place, the cost was reasonable and great value - The Peking duck was so good! Service was great too, they cut it up for us. - Dandan noodles were so tasty and chewy too - XLB was amazing and the sauce was standout Bad: - Takes a while for the food to arrive Overall this was such a good experience and would come back!
This restaurant took us by surprise. We weren't expecting much and were over whelmed by the quality, service and "the show"! Bottom line, if it's your first time you must order the whole flaming duck. The experience is incredible and you get the Peking duck, smoked duck AND duck soup of which all were delicious. We tried several dumplings which were all fantastic and ended with a "made directly in front of you" tiramisu. I think the pictures tell it all. Go to this restaurant!!!
Went there to celebrate my birthday! Overall it’s a nice experience:) the service is great. They gave me a little birthday cake. My friend and I ordered the dim sum sampler and the Peking duck. The flavors are quite good but the cutting of the duck isn’t great. Although on the higher end, I’d still recommend this place for occasions!
Fantastic restaurant. Had Christmas dinner here at Golden Wuish & had the best food & the best time. Angelina was our server & made the meal so much more enjoyable with her friendliness & perfect food recommendations. The duck was the best we ever had. Highly recommend this restaurant & will return. Thank you Angelina and crew for a wonderful Christmas dinner!
⭐️ A Memorable Birthday Dinner at Golden Wuish – NYC ⭐️ I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my son’s birthday at Golden Wuish Restaurant in New York City, located at 6 Platt Street, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. My middle child—my daughter—joined us, and together we enjoyed the ambience, the elegance, and the way our hostess treated us with such warmth and attentiveness. Truly, a hostess with the mostest. We indulged in three flaming peking ducks, carved and presented with flair, followed by shrimp in a silky coconut cream sauce. We enjoyed not one, but two platters of the squid rice, and the truffle-topped dumplings were rich, delicate, and irresistible. For drinks, my daughter ordered a lemon drop cocktail that packed quite a punch—so strong we decided to share it. I opted for a lychee martini that was absolutely out of this world. My son doesn’t drink, so he enjoyed a refreshing lemonade concoction that he loved just as much. To finish, we ordered extra pieces to take home, including the crispy seasoned bones that were accompanied with a light soup—an unexpected delight. My son ended his celebration with a slice of cheesecake, creamy and delicious to the very last bite. From start to finish, the food, service, and atmosphere made the night unforgettable. I would love the opportunity to return and enjoy it all again. Golden Wuish—see you soon. ✨
Came here to celebrate CNY and had one of the top 3 best Peking ducks I’ve ever had in NYC! ☺️ The duck was served in three ways: roast duck, smoked duck, and duck soup. The smoked duck was amazing—definitely a must-try! They rolled the cart to our table and set the duck on fire, which made for a really fun and entertaining show. We also got the bone marrow, which was great too. If you’re planning to get the duck, make sure to call ahead and reserve it! We got two ducks for six people, and it was more than enough. The service was nice. Just don’t let the storefront scare you off! 😆
A gem of a restaurant tucked away in the financial district! Staff are attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They'll make sure you're comfortable and satisfied. A big shout-out to Jazz (our waiter), who provided truly exceptional service and Jimmy (the manager), his hospitality is impeccable, making sure we were okay during our time there. FOOD: The food was outstanding! Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor! What we got... - Lavander Bloom - Cuvée Storica Cinzano Prosecco ACCESSIBILITY: The place is wheelchair accessible, with features like a wheelchair-accessible entrance, restroom, and seating. ADDRESS: 6 Platt St, New York, NY 10038
Came here for a friends birthday and loved the roast and smoked duck experience! The duck was so succulent and delicious, and the table side carving was cinematic. I just wish the waiters changed our dishes in between the appetizers and the duck course
We came here specifically to eat Beijin duck and ordered whole duck for just two of us. I was worrying that we won’t be able to finish the whole thing, but we did! And it was probably the best duck that Iv had in a long time! They serve it at your table with presentation from the chef with fire she everything. Duck come in 3 courses: 1. White meat served with rice pancakes and hoisin sauce and some fresh cucumber and green onion 2. Smoked (they put it in a pot with some smoke inside) 3. Soup All 3 courses were delicious! Highly recommend this place
My Valentine’s dinner at Golden Wuish Duck House was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, romantic, and perfect for such a special night. We were looking forward to try this place for a while now. The food was truly exceptional. The duck was the star of the evening — perfectly roasted with incredibly crispy skin and tender, juicy meat that melted in your mouth. Along with the duck, we ordered the bone marrow, and the flavor was absolutely top notch. It was rich, buttery, and seasoned to perfection. We also had the sea bass, which was so good. It was cooked flawlessly — delicate, moist, and packed with fresh, vibrant flavor. What made the night even more special was the outstanding service. Huge compliments to our server, Angelina. She was attentive, professional, and so genuinely kind. She created such a welcoming and comfortable experience for us. Her attention to detail and warm personality truly elevated our Valentine’s dinner. If you’re looking for amazing food and exceptional service for a special occasion, Golden Wuish Duck House is an absolute must. We can’t wait to come back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We came for a 10-person family dinner and it was 💯. Service was phenomenal (shout out to Jimmy who also managed our reservation with clear communication), and the staff really took the dinner experience to the next level. We were able to dine in the private dining room, and because we had two young children at the dinner, the extra space we had in the room made the experience more comfortable. The pre fixe menu with the open bar was also delicious and an awesome choice. 100% recommend!
I Been coming here for a couple years now. The food is always delicious ! The host, Reggie the bartender, Angelina our server And Jimmy the Manager were phenomenal. The hospitality here is impeccable. I always recommend this place to colleagues, friends and family to come and try this place out ! Everyone at my dinner party had a great experience. We had the full duck, octopus fried rice, truffle dumplings, octopus ceviche, sesame chicken and the tomato soup. A nice bottle of red. We also got the additional bones and soup from the duck it’s an extra $10 but highly recommend it !
We had the most amazing time — truly a 10/10 experience all around. It’s been a long time since I’ve been somewhere where everything was this good. The food, service, drinks, and ambiance were all on point. Huge thank you to Angelina for taking such amazing care of us — she made the experience even better. And that roasted duck? 20/20. Thank you so much, can’t wait to come back!
My friend had a birthday party here, and it was a great choice. The service was really good and prepared all kinds of delicious food for us, and finished it in front of us, so we could see it fresh. The duck and the tiramisu were particularly impressive. Also, it was really nice when they played Happy Birthday for my friend. Despite being so god, the place was not overcrowded and not too loud, so we could still have good conversations with my friends, and enjoyed the party. Thank you!
Last week, my date took me to Golden Whuish-The Duck House and let me tell you, they sure do live up to their name! I’ve been here before for an event but never got the chance to eat at the restaurant proper. The whole place was decked out in Holiday decor, which, for the usually sensual ambience of the restaurant gave it such an uplifting and zealous feel. I honestly couldn’t stop smiling and giggling but that might just be because I love a theme 🙂↕️The staff there was super sweet and answered any question I had with expertise and warmth, which just added on to the lovely holiday feel of the place. Now, on to the food! This spot is known for their duck, their wide arrangements of drinks and cocktails and the elevated feel of dining near the Financial District. My date and I split the Octopus Ceviche, the mussels and the duck tostones 🦆The Octopus Ceviche was less citrusy than expected, but the mango sauce and chunks definitely added a layer of sweetness that blended well with the slight kick it had. It also came with tostones that were lighted salted and eating the ceviche with that just added some really nice texture and crunch. Though, the octopus itself wasn’t as tender as I was expecting it to be. Overall, I’d give it a 3.5/5 🐙 the mussels were so good and came with a buttery sauce and lemons. Trying to pinpoint the taste after the fact is near impossible but I remember feeling incredibly satisfied. I give it a 5/5 🙂↕️ Last but certainly not least, are the duck tostones! Duck is honestly my favorite way to consume poultry and they do it so well here. 1 serving comes with 2 tostones piled high with succulent duck, greens and mango. All the flavors complimented each other perfectly and the meat itself was super tender and juicy with a delightful crisp to the skin. 10/5 because it was just that good. This is a perfect spot for really anything! Date night, birthday, just wanna catch up with a friend over a drink; definitely plan on going to Golden Whuish ⭐️
Golden Wuish is an absolute gem for anyone who loves Peking duck. Their signature Peking duck is exceptional perfectly fatty, salty, crispy, and full of rich flavor. The Flaming Peking Duck is a true standout, not only for the impressive presentation but for the quality and taste that fully deliver. Paired with scallions, cucumber, and soft pancakes, it captures everything I love about authentic Peking duck. The menu blends Asian and Latin flavors in such a creative way, making every dish feel bold and unique. I also loved the duck bone soup that comes with the meal; it’s comforting, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the duck. You can choose half Peking duck and half smoked duck or go for the full Peking duck which I definitely recommend. If you’re a duck lover, Golden Wuish should be at the top of your list. The food, flavors, and overall experience truly make it worth the visit.
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Golden Wuish last night! Four of us — friends and family — went together, and everything from start to finish was excellent. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere, and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding — every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The highlight of the night was definitely the Peking duck experience. It was carved tableside to perfection — crispy skin, tender meat, and served with the classic accompaniments. You can tell a lot of care and skill goes into every step of the meal. A big shout-out to Angelina, who provided truly exceptional service. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and making sure everything was perfect. Her warmth and professionalism really stood out and made our evening even more special. We left completely satisfied and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend Golden Wuish for anyone who loves authentic flavors, excellent service, and a memorable dining experience!
A gem of a restaurant tucked away in the financial district. Great service, fantastic food, and relatively solid prices for a high quality dining experience. The half duck was absolutely phenomenal, and I would highly advise you get that or even the whole duck if with another person. Making the buns is a fun and delicious experience, but eating the duck on its own was the true star of the show. It was the most beautifully crispy skin combined with the perfectly tender meat of the duck, with fat that was like candy between it all. Get the duck and have a time
Golden Wuish (The Duckhouse) is a true gem that delivers an unforgettable dining experience every time. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a warm and elegant atmosphere that perfectly complements the restaurant’s exceptional cuisine. The staff is courteous, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring guests feel comfortable and satisfied. The food is absolutely outstanding—especially the duck, which is tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Just the most delicious Peking duck ever. If you get the whole, skip the smoked and get it all roasted. It’s way more delicious. Service decent, they do get super busy so if you don’t have a reservation they seat you near the bar where the service isn’t that great. We have been a few times now and it always hits.
Had a very good experience at the Golden Wuish. The main event is definitely the Flaming Peking Duck. The show was definitely cool (If you order the HALF duck, there is NO SHOW), but the duck itself was a little on the greasy side, but the meat was definitely tasty. Besides the Peking Duck, we also ordered the following: Black Truffle Soup Dumplings: 8/10 Steam Clams: 9/10 Duck Egg Pea Shoots: 9/10 Squid Ink Fried Rice: 9/10 Lucky Tao: 8/10 Sunset Daiquiri: 7/10 Overall, it was was a good experience but for the price of the Full Peking Duck, it'll be just a one time experience.
I stopped into this restaurant for dinner and when I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a very nice restaurant and was greeted! I ordered with a great server Kayona! I had: Flaming Peking Duck (Roasted/Smoked) Sancho Soup with duck bone Squid Ink Fried Rice Tirimisu The food was phenomenal and I loved the duck skin! I had an amazing experience!
The experience here was wonderful. My husband and I spent her 13th anniversary here and we had such a good time. The service was very attentive and they anticipated everything we needed and was spot on. The menu was priced well and the dishes tasted delicious. Not only was it a wonderful presentation but also the ambiance was romantic. It is also kid-friendly so maybe next time we'll bring our children for the experience.
Peking duck was superb and as a northern Chinese I’m very picky of Peking ducks. Even my kiddo loved the food which is pretty rare. The duck on fire was fun to watch, skin was crispy and the smoked duck meat was surprisingly tasty. The duck soup was another success, tiny meat with potato carrots and corn. We also ordered Broccolini in black bean sauce, it was good but I wish they had more vegetable options on the menu. Service was great too, everybody was friendly in the restaurant. The space is smaller than I thought but we went on Friday evening and it was not full. I think it’s better call ahead to reserve the Peking duck, making reservation online doesn’t guarantee the flaming Peking duck. Overall it was one of the best meal we ate in NYC, definitely worth going
People these days often post food and restaurant photos on social media simply to document what and when they ate, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the food is delicious. Golden Wuish, however, delivers both a cozy, romantic vibe and truly delicious food. The service was top-notch. Our server, Eva, was super friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes, and our water glasses never went below half—that’s how attentive they were. The location might be a bit out of the way for those living outside of Manhattan, but if you’re looking for a romantic restaurant with amazing food, Golden Wuish is definitely worth checking out.
Stepping inside, the place has a very cool vibe. Obviously, came for the Peking duck and it did not disappoint. The presentation—setting the duck ablaze tableside—was very cool and the different styles of services were all delicious. In addition, also enjoyed several small plates, which were all great!
It’s time to get lit with Golden Wuish’s Flaming Peking Duck! What a perfect midnight snack or should I say feast? Get ready for a fiery flavor packed duck meal in three styles. Classic, smoky, and a soup that gives you all different flavors. Roll it with fresh steamed pancake with sauce, scallions, and cucumbers. The juicy, tasty, crispy roasted duck is sliced carefully with perfect skin to meat ratio. You can definitely taste their recipe which was passed down for generations. Enjoy a Yum Cha Set for an authentic dim sum experience with a modern twist. That bone marrow is a rich buttery explosion that you need to try. Service is impeccable. Cocktails are refreshing packing with the right punch. As for desserts, you’d be crazy if you skip it. Golden Wuish’s top-tier service makes you feel like home. Come eat Peking Duck and experience it the way Golden Wuish does it.
I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of food they deliver here. The duck was cooked in 4 ways and they are all good! The clay pot rice does have burnt rice and loaded with Chinese sausage. The seabass was perfectly done! The service is also very professional. The down sides are: loud environment, small table, food is definitely on the pricy range. Still worth a try!
Attentive service with traditional Chinese food with a touch of modern. Go for the whole peking duck experience where they roll the whole biped out on a trolley, light it on fire and dispatch the bird in three ways (Peking duck wraps, smoked slices, and duck soup). The wraps were paper things which were appreciated and included the typical condiments ie thinly sliced cucumbers, green onion, and hoisin sauce. The duck skin was crispy, and the meat moist. The slices were placed on a decorative platter. The Yum Cha set dim sum sampler really brought back memories of my grandma. Besides pretty much every sample being delicious, it was an emotional experience as well. We also ordered the wagyu beef Dan Dan noodle which had bouncy strands an overall medium spiciness to it. It was tasty, but the wagyu is diced small and therefore they are fully cooked throughout. Not a bad thing served in this manner but I feel wagyu should always by had rare or at most, medium rare and in slices. We were so stuffed and skipped dessert. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely go back.
There aren’t as many restaurants in fidi to choose from as much as other areas. I thought golden wuish was a gem in this area. They had great food options and the dumplings are great. I want to go back for the Peking duck for sure. The drinks are cute and good too. The staff was okay - they took awhile to get to our table a few times.
Beautiful ambiance and food was good, nothing spectacular. The service was subpar. We had to flag down different waiters/workers multiple times to get our water filled as they did not make it a habit to check and had to ask to get a few dishes removed from our table during the meal. We came here initially because we were in the mood for Peking duck. So you get the fire performance if you order the whole duck, which is fine, but ordering half the duck is more than enough for a party of two. It was a nice spot to try, but we’ll most likely be frequenting other spots for Peking duck as there are many around.
Let me start with service and atmosphere - both are amazing , music was a little too loud for a casual talk so have that in mind Now food - dim sum sampler is a must - u get to try all of them and i would say 70% are amazing . Flaming duck is big - 3-4 people can eat this comfortably and with the price of 88$ it is pricey so you better share it - there is alot. Chicken appetizer is amazing and steak large plate is a bit too raw for me - mostly amazed by dim-sum and would come back for only that :)
If it wasn’t for the prices, this place would get a 5-Stars. Food was very exceptional in taste and flavor. We sat outside as it was a beautiful evening and the staff was still very attentive, so really appreciate it, because the way we were seated, we could’ve been easily overlooked. Drinks and food were all done very well.
The food was pretty solid. There was a lot of meat from a single duck! We also had beef and a lobster thing. Can't recall the dish names but they were good. Overall I enjoyed the food, and it was probably 4.5 ⭐ for the food, and so I'll round up to 5. Service was also good, but the table was really too small for our group -- but then I think all tables were the same size lol
Visited for my mom's birthday celebration. We booked two weeks ahead, specifying our desire for the Peking duck experience—a must-try. The dim sum was also a delightful treat. Everything on the menu was enjoyable. However, the restaurant's temperature was a drawback; it was quite chilly. Seated near the window, we kept our jackets on because it felt colder inside than outside. I hope this is addressed for the comfort of future patrons.
Food 7/10 Ordered a lot of food, I thought it was quite solid but not the most authentic. Did not foot the bill so I don’t know how that compares, but it definitely would have been pricier considering the location and the ambiance. I enjoyed the green beans and the Peking duck. Definitely order the duck and the spicy wontons if you do go, they taste comforting. Atmosphere 6/10 Did not appreciate the fly that was buzzing around my table. Besides that, it was a decent spot and felt clean enough. Located next to a hotel in FiDi. Service 8/10 Friendly and helpful, nothing to complain about.
Peking duck was deliciously cooked and came with thin pancakes and vegetables to eat with. After finishing they served a savory soup with the remaining duck cuttings and vegetables. We got the scallop appetizer which was expensive (probably wouldn't get it again). We also got the gai lan but it was really difficult to eat. Either need a knife or would prefer if it were presliced.
Great ambiance, not the traditional Peking Duck, and we didn't see a lot of Chinese people dining here... Our expectations usually drop when you don't see many people from the same culture of a restaurant. The cocktail I had has an overly strong perfume scent 2 star). But the duck is great (we got 4 ways, which are Peking duck roll, skin, soup, and roated bone). The wrap of the roll is thin and is properly separated between layers, like in authentic Peking Duck place in China. The Duck itself is perhaps the best we have had in the States so 4 stars (though we didn't try out all places in NYC yet). The music is a bit too loud for our personal taste but this is apparently a modern fusion place.
Came here with a group of 6 for dinner. No wait time for a Wednesday evening. We ordered the flaming duck for the fire show. The smoked duck was delicious. The duck soup was perfect! Very flavorful and rich. The black truffle soup dumplings were bomb! The yum cha set was okay. The walnut shrimp was okay. The mapo tofu with lobster was okay. Service was attentive.
Golden Wuish has a nice atmosphere that creates a pleasant setting. Unfortunately, the food and service were both average and didn't meet expectations. The vibe is enjoyable, but the overall experience could use improvement in the kitchen and with the staff.
We made it in time for the $12 happy hour cocktails, and their cocktails were delicious! We also ordered their flaming Peking Duck -whole for $88. It was absolutely delicious and very innovative. We also ordered two more dishes - mussels and spicy chongqing chicken. They’re good but nothing memorable. The staff were very attentive & informative. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, service and food.
A good spot when you’re looking for a more western take of an elevated Chinese dim sum experience. The food was good and some interesting twists to them. To start, a good amount of the menu items we asked for were unavailable. We ended up going for a half Peking duck and it was good! Got the clay pot and truffle risotto. A bit underwhelming with the clay pot, taste was good but on the bland side, could have added maybe double the seasoning or dressing. Risotto was more like fried rice, but similar to the clay pot, could have used a tad bit more seasoning. I do highly recommend the soup dumplings. Desserts were great and drinks were fine.
They do a pretty good Peking duck, and if you order the flaming whole duck, it's cut table side. The duck was pretty good but a little bit greasy. They also smoke a portion of the duck but I don't recommend it - it's not bad but the smokey flavor is a bit too strong. Ask them to skip that part. Finally they offer an add on of crispy duck bones - also skip it as it's literally boney duck with some veggies
They have loud music and dark ambiance, as if it was a night club. The food took a really long time, and it lacked flavor, both the dim sum as well as the Singapore noodles. The manager was super friendly and accommodating, and the staff was friendly, although they were definitely understaffed that day. I cannot recommend this place. And if you are looking for a dim sum place, I’d strongly suggest you go elsewhere
I would not come back to this place, because both the food and service were mediocre. The happy hour dumplings were okay, but the truffle fried rice tasted bland as if the truffle was fake and the rice had been sitting outside for days. The water tasted like it had metal in it. The staff were friendly, but they must've been new because the service was slow and kind of off. The waitress took 20 min to bring us water. When she did, she accidentally spilled water all over our table. It took another 20 min for her to move us to another table, even though there were a ton of open tables.
We were a party of 2 and we wanted to treat ourselves to a great peking duck dinner date night. It was our first time to this restaurant but the reviews said it was good. It had a club like atmosphere: dim, colored lights, loud music, strange decor. We couldn't make a reservation as their phone kept going unanswered. There was some kind of misunderstanding as the hostess said it'd be an hour wait and if we were okay at the bar. We assumed to wait but our bartender/waiter clarified w/ the hostess and somehow we got a table right away. We were sat at the small round tables in the front. The tables were so small we thought this was the waiting room. Tables in the back for larger groups only they said. The atmosphere in the front really sucked. We ordered the whole duck and it was really hard to fit everything on our table. We almost knockd over our duck tray and drinks. The chef came out to cut our whole duck, but I feel towards the end I think he only cut half the duck before running away with it. I assumed to use it in our soup which came later but the soup felt like it had been cooking well ahead of time; yucca/potato and corn were boiled down to nothing, duck taste but no duck to be found. They don't seem to know how to jullienne the cucumbers as they're big pieces that looked like a mushy blob on the dish. We had leftover duck and soup. We asked them to pack it up with extra fixings but they failed to include any wraps. Overall it was very expensive for mediocre fatty duck that wasn't very crispy. At least the waiters were nice.
My husband I went here for our Xmas dinner. The host and staff was very friendly and welcoming. We started with non -alcoholic drinks the lechee drink and oolong moijto. Which was delicious and refreshing. I highly recommend the DIM SUM assorted platter. It was so good and beautifully presented. My husband got the beef platter which we asked for medium but came out rare. They fixed right away. I wanted the duck but they didn’t sell half ducks on weekends. So I asked to take the bones home if I got whole duck which was $88 for whole duck. The waitress said yes so I ordered it. The flaming duck was cool to see the cutter sliced it up nicely. They served the duck 3 ways, roasted, smoked and in a soup. The duck was delicious, but the soup never came out so I asked for it to go. I also asked for the bones, the waiter then says it’s an ADDITIONAL $10 for the bones?!!! Why did I pay $88 for whole duck. That annoyed me! I felt like that was a scam! Tell me in the beginning! It’s very over price for the amount of duck you actually get, the soup also has tiny chucks of duck meat when I looked it at home. We also started off with sesame chicken small plate to share! The chicken was tender and not too sweet!! So good! Over all the service was friendly but tricky with additional charges and forgot my soup. The restaurant is super charming and cozy! Drinks were amazing and dim sum was delicious! Duck is over price for what you actually get. I say for for drinks and dim sum but the duck is good BUT for the price just know it will be smaller portion.
I came here with my friend for his birthday because I saw this place had a 5 ⭐️ rating. The service and ambience was okay but I wasn’t so pleased with the “The flaming Peking duck” we ordered . We purchased a whole duck for $88 and got served which looked like a sample size for 1 person. This was very upsetting and felt it was a waste of money! Also, our pineapple fried rice came out 20mins before our entrée which had gotten cold. We had no utensils as well which our server forgot! Overall it wasn’t as pleasant as the hype was out to be 🤷🏻♀️
The whole roast and smoked duck was good, but the experience was dragged down by the completely indifferent server who was never around. We had to ask or flag someone down for even water refills or replacement chopsticks. Didn't offer us additional drinks or desserts. The place wasn't even busy so it's not clear what he was doing the entire time. The soup also came without any duck in it and the server wasn't there to clear up any confusion on what the dish should actually have. It seems likely they made an error, but I guess it'll remain a mystery. Won't be returning despite liking the food due to the bad experience. For the price we paid there are surely better options elsewhere.
Went earlier this year… 8pm reso & we got seated 45 minutes later! If it wasn’t for Carlos at the bar or our waiter throwing in drinks on the house, the dining experience would have been absolutely terrible. Have you ever heard of anyone at a restaurant for 4 hours? And no, not because we were having a great time, but not only because we didn’t get seated for 45 minutes, our food took forever too! Mind you, we also weren’t even seated in the dining area, we were seated by the bar. We started off with the hot stone wagyu, which was good. We also decided to go with the assortment dim sum set. That wasn’t bad, but the black truffle soup dumplings had 0 truffle flavor to it in general. We had to of course get the Peking duck- it’s why we chose to try this restaurant in the first place. The price compared to Chinatown is wildly overpriced, but it was delicious. Downside is that we waited another hour and a half for it tho (from the time we sat down)!!! It did feel like there wasn’t much to it either, and we asked if we can take the rest of “the bones” home, and the waiter originally said no because it’s do used for the “broth” but we all know that’s a lie. At the end of dinner, we actually did get some sort of duck leftovers home. Would I come back here? No. All those posts the influencers posted were because they either received special treatment or something idk. But as a regular paying customer, I would never come back.
I rarely write reviews, but I feel obligated to share our experience for others’ safety. We visited this restaurant and ordered their signature roast duck, which was extremely expensive. The chef came out to do the tableside flaming presentation and carving, which looked impressive at first. However, the duck itself tasted quite oily and heavy, and unfortunately things got worse afterward. Both of us felt unwell shortly after the meal, which is one of us had diarrhea the same night, and the other had stomach pain that continued into the next day and eventually led to vomiting. This is not something we expected after a high-priced meal at a well-known restaurant. Based on our experience, the food safety here is a serious concern. I hope the restaurant investigates their kitchen practices, and I recommend other customers proceed with caution.
Yesterday, I had a terrible experience at a popular duck restaurant called Golden Wuish, which I found on social media. I suffered from food poisoning after eating oysters there; the second oyster I ate smelled bad, leading me to rush to the bathroom to vomit profusely. The manager claimed the issue was due to the wrong sauce being served, blaming the sauce rather than admitting that the oyster was bad. At 4 AM, after a night of discomfort due to the oysters, I called the restaurant and the staff accused me of overreacting, despite admitting at the scene that the oyster was indeed spoiled and even offering me chewing gum to mask the taste. Their denial of the food quality issue and the poor quality of the duck's sweet bean sauce, which was too diluted, added to the disappointment. The restaurant, using its Chinese restaurant facade, seemed to exploit Chinese customers, and did not even have a Chinese menu. They claimed to offer "fusion" cuisine, but it was a mess. For a better duck dining experience, I'd recommend going elsewhere. This restaurant's service was incredibly poor and they even required a set menu for a group during New Year's, forcing five people to order two sets of menus. More details and a recording of the staff's arrogant remarks will follow in subsequent posts. New Yorkers, avoid this trap! It's one of the worst duck restaurants in New York and a classic case of Chinese deceiving Chinese.
I’m not a fan of negativity but fair warning: The service is horrible! We asked for a large table and were told bar area only. We politely explained we would be sampling multiple dishes. They allowed us to wait for a 4 top. The staff were not polite about it. We placed our food order and specifically asked for the dishes to be staggered to allow us time to enjoy. They brought two dishes at the same time. This is before they even took our drink order. Then five minutes later our whole duck and lamb arrived. Again before we had drinks. Like many other reviews we found this was unacceptable. At the end of service we asked for the remaining food to be packed with sauces, wraps, and more vegetables. It took them 25 minutes and they did not pack the requested items. We asked politely and it took another 10 minutes. Then the waitress disappeared and after a 10 minute wait we went to the hostess stand to ask how we pay. Very unprofessional which is a shame because the food was good. It was the staff experience that ruined it for us. Way too many other options cannot recommend this location.
The food is good — the Peking duck is excellent — but the service is shockingly bad. The receptionist was rude, unprofessional, and openly hostile toward customers. It felt like she didn’t want to be there and resented anyone who walked in. Her attitude alone put a cloud over the entire experience. It’s hard to understand why a restaurant serving food this good would tolerate front-of-house behavior this poor.
