Opinions de Ryan Maguire’s New York
I left iPic theatres on my birthday after watching Dune 2 for my birthday on my day off and my girlfriend and I decided to go over to this place for happy hour. I’m posting this review specifically because of the spicy tequila shrimp. We ordered a second one with more garlic bread to dip it into the sauce. Highly recommend it! Excuse the grammar I’m still a little buzzed!
Great food in a beautiful restaurant with really great service. James, our waiter was really friendly and the order was done perfectly. We went to Ryan Maguire's with a big party for a dual birthday and everyone was great. From reservations to the dessert, the whole process was immensely enjoyable. We will definitely go back.
An excellent and relaxing place to end a weekend trip to NYC. The food was fantastic. The beer was cold. The atmosphere was relaxed enough that when we had our three kids with us aged 2-8, we didn't have to panic every time the kids squealed in excitement over the delicious onion rings, cheese sticks, burgers or steaks.
Stopped here for a couple pints during our trip to New York. Irish Ryan (not the actual Ryan Maguire) was our server and he was awesome! Super friendly and knowledgeable when we asked him questions about the public transit system. We shared the nachos which were delicious and different from any nachos we’ve had before. Overall a great place to stop and take a break from walking and in between our tours.
Wonderful Irish Pub is just a block from Pier 17. Reasonably priced and ample menu choices. The curry fries are delicious, as was the shepherd's pie.
Great experience here! Lots of drink options, decently priced food, and great service. Tried the irish curry fries, had no idea what it was until I got it. The curry was super flavorful and the fries were very well cooked.
I went in to see my brother who was having a Sanitation workers union meeting there with other delegates and I was pleasantly surprised that the union chose to endorse Eric Adams
This is a lovely place sort of hidden in the narrow streets of lower Manhattan. The burger is good and also nicely priced. Fries are off the hook excellent. Annie is the best bartender around too. It's got a nice atmosphere, quiz night and literally just about everything you want from an Irish pub. Highly recommend if you just want to visit a pub
Great spot for happy hour. Place looks small on the outside but is spacious on the inside. Good service and great fish and chips.
One of my favorite places in the city, I've probably gone over 50 times this past year and it's become sort of a "third place." Unpretentious atmosphere, friendly staff, great drinks, hearty food, live sports, weekly trivia night, everything you could ask for, really.
Laidback and affordable but also really clean and modern enough to have dinner at. Bartenders made really good drinks and there was plenty of space to sit.
Ryan McGuire is one of my favorite Irish bars in FiDi. Whether for lunch or after work dinner and drinks, it's always a good choice. Diverse crowd. Good prices. Delicious food and drinks (try the chicken pot pie😋). The atmosphere is nice. Establishment is clean (including the restrooms). Staff is friendly.
This is a great little spot with reasonable prices. I have not tried the food, but it's been one of my go-to spots during my last couple of visits to NYC. Last summer it was my 21-year-old daughter's first Irish Pub. She loved it too.
Excellent little restaurant. Quiet! Most places these days are earsplittingly loud; this is not one of them. Finally, an oasis in our noise pollution 🗣️desert 🏜️
Great little Irish pub. Just on first appearance looking in the window it was welcoming. We found it by accidents. The service, food, drink and prices are very reasonable. As a first time visitor to New York I would recommend it when in the Lower Manhattan area.
something about an uncrowded well lit bar with great food and a decent beer selection not far from South Street Seaport
The interior design catches your eye without feeling forced. They make food look as good as it tastes. The head staff member balances responsibility with niceness. This place caught me off guard. We're eager for another dinner here.
Popped in in a Sunday early evening so it only had a handful of people. The barman sat us and we ordered our food from him and drinks, super helpful and good food was served. Very friendly atmosphere here. We have walked past earlier in the week and it was busy.
I'm still new here, but this is on my list of favorite places in FiDi. I've been a couple times, and it's quiet, relaxed, and they have decent iced tea. The first time I was here there was some awkwardness as they limit to only one refill for tea and didn't say so until it became an issue. Once I knew that, it was fine.
Incredible bar, even better staff - just the best!
I ordered one of the daily specials: sea bass with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables were a california medley but were not frozen. They were fresh and steamed (a very nice surprise!) Dinner was great and the prices were awesome! Drinks are some of the best I've seen in the area (I'm from Wisconsin and was in Manhattan for 3 weeks for work). Service was great as well! I will definitely come back again! Highly recommend!
Absolutely a great place to eat. Had burgers and Mac&cheese. Onion rings on the side. Great and friendly service, food came fast, the atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend this place, if you want good food, great atmosphere and friendly service.
This is my third time at this establishment. Every time it’s a vibe. Excellent service, excellent food and balanced drinks. It’s great.
Stumbled in here by chance after a hard day at the office. Sat by myself for a quiet beer, I was completely taken back by how beautiful the venue is. And my mood was lifted immediately by my server Chloe - she was fun, energetic and genuine and was reason enough to stay for an extra beer. Props to chef/chefs also. The crispy chicken wrap was magical. Will definitely be back.
What a great local downtown pub! The food was delicious and they have a good selection of draft beer. Very accommodating for watching sporting events even though the atmosphere is definitely NOT a "sports bar". Cal the bartender was awesome! We went there twice during our stay largely because of his friendly and efficient service.
What a gem! From the moment we stepped in an hour early, they still found a place for us to comfortably sit and wait until our table was ready. Within 10 minutes, they seated us and continued there excellent service. Everything we had was amazingly tasty! There was mash, the tenders were golden flaky and delicious, the French onion soup was divine and the lobster ravioli and angel hair pasta with sun dried tomato and shrimp was delicious as well. Great welcome and great service throughout! A definite go to again and again! 🙂
We loved this place. We ate here when we waiting for our time for the Staten Island Ferry. The food was great, the staff were very helpful. We are from the UK and this reminded us of a pub back home. Highly reccomend.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere is great. The service was on point. I will patronize this establishment again.
Stopped in after not being there for quite a few years- The food and atmosphere and staffing is still top notch Some of the best ‘pub’ food around This restaurant sure has sustained the test of time in an ever changing neighborhood and world
I was visiting for a couple of days in Florida and I came here every day the food, the service everything was great the male bartender. I can’t remember his name right now, but I think it was Rubin evening time and Rasis (Pronounced Rochi). They took very good care of me and I was happy enough to write this pleasant review. Thank You...
My husband and I really enjoyed coming here!! We grabbed some food and drinks- came to watch the Mets game. Perfect spot. A really pretty, clean, comfortable bar. Got a table right in front of the bar had a good view of the tv’s. Made it in time for HH (until 7pm) and ordered some beer. We ordered a chicken wrap and burger for dinner. Food was delicious!! The waitress and staff were nice, service was great. Excellent spot!
We stayed round the corner to this bar, was our favourite the whole trip. Welcoming and warm, nicely lit place, good choice of drinks which considering its location were very reasonable too. Staff were great too. Didn't have food but I saw plates coming out and it looked really good.
When I look for an "Irish pub" in a city, I don't expect gourmet cuisine or anything unusual. I just want to get my glass of Guinness and fish and chips from the hands of a smiling waiter, and at this moment my children can indulge in something unhealthy, such as burgers, fries and nuggets. I want the atmosphere of this establishment to match my good mood. It is for this reason that I chose Ryan McGuire. The service was at a high level, the interior and sports broadcasts created the ambience that I wanted to get from an Irish pub 🤌 P.S. As a Manchester United fan, I simply couldn't go to a pub with a different name 🔴
Ryan Maguire's is a great place to dine in. The food is authentic and fairly priced. The service and atmosphere are good. The bottle of wine for half the price on Wednesdays is a real plus as well. I thought the chicken pot pie was a bit weird because it wasn't a pie. It was a croissant sliced through the middle with filling in it. So that would be my only (minor) complaint. Ordered the first time: + Fish and Chips ++ Portobello wrap (Favourite) ++ Shepherd's pie (Favourite) - Chicken pot pie Ordered the second time: + Fish and Chips ++ Crispy chicken wrap + Stuffed chicken Overall this was a great experience and I do recommend this place!
Ryan Maguire's Bar & Restaurant provides a charming setting with a menu that balances traditional pub fare and modern flavors. The quality of food and service is consistently high, making it an inviting place to unwind. Ideal for casual dinners or catching up with friends.
We came here on January 1 to get out of the cold and away from the crowds. The atmosphere was authentic, the service hospitable and prompt, the beer was great and the hamburgers wonderful. We appreciated that they put the mayoral inauguration on the TV so that we didn't have to stand out in the cold to watch it.
We booked in as a family party of ten on Christmas Eve, visiting from Liverpool and Belfast. All the food was excellent and served promptly. I had the buffalo chicken wrap, which was a fresh, crisp and tangy buffalo chicken mouthful of deliciousness. Our server (whose name escapes me sadly) was friendly and attentive, keeping our drinks topped up. I can highly recommend Ryan Maguire's, and thank you so much for a wonderful Christmas Eve!
Great find when I went down to take the ferry. The service was excellent and the food and drinks were even better. This was probably one of the best French onion soups ever! I couldn't have been happier with brown cheese on top and the rich flavor. Also they make their own jalapeño pineapple infused tequila. WOW, just WOW. incredible fresh flavor. The margarita made with it was impeccable. I even might try to make some on my own after talking to them. Definitely check this place out
People complain despite excellent value. Employees provided excellent care and meals came promptly. Every employee treats you like a valued guest. The food tastes wonderful, costs a fair amount and comes with excellent service. I'm excited about my next reservation here.
As someone from the UK, whenever I come to the U.S. I very quickly start to miss "normal food". We did a quick search for places to eat near our hotel and saw their menu and quickly decided to head there. The food did not disappoint, traditional home comfort foods like shepherds pie, bangers and mash and Chicken Pot Pie. Food is also reasonably priced, service was good and there was no wait. I would highly recommend eating here.
A very spacious Irish pub walking distance from the South Street Seaport. We came here for brunch and had the Irish Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast (with a poached egg). We topped it off with a chocolate mousse cake (for good measure 😁). Bonus: Maguire's has plenty of TV screens along the bar so this is a good spot to catch the big game!
Nice Irish pub located in downtown, New York City. We've been there twice and the experience was amazing. Staffing was so lovely with us both times. Food is amazing - first time we've had the Ref Snapper, a special in the menu that was delicious. Good variety of draft beers, and a lovely atmosphere.
What a great place to hang out. Plus the food is really good. I would definitely come back again. This place is a classic Irish bar so they excel at Irish traditional dishes like bangers and mash and fish & chips. The staff is really nice. If you are in Manhattan and want to catch a baseball or football (American or other wise) you really can't go wrong with this place!
We were at two previous restaurants with poor service.... And that lead us to this amazing spot with really mouth watering food! Hats off to the chef! I ate all my food for the first time ever! Our waiter and server were both so gracious and kind. Clean environment, well kept restroom. Highly recommend.
Took some notes when I visited here on September 12, 2020 at 4:00 PM. My party and I were seated outdoors in this nice little alleyway where there wasn't much foot traffic around the restaurant. There were only a couple other parties besides mine eating outdoors so it didn't feel too busy and so the outdoor atmosphere was calming and the nice weather was a great bonus. The waitress was also very nice and attentive. As for the food, everything looked and tasted pretty good! Two minor things that I would want them to improve on is for them to season their vegetables! A little bit of salt, black pepper, and/or butter can go a long way to make cooked vegetables taste a little bit better (otherwise they're completely flavorless!). Obviously this draws away from the healthiness of the vegetables, but when cooked vegetables are not seasoned well and paired with a steak and fries, I can't help but desire just a little bit of more flavor. Another thing I took note of was their Coke/Pepsi (I didn't write down which one), tasted VERY watered down which was especially surprising because it didn't even contain much ice. I asked for a refill at some point and the second one also tasted very watered down, so maybe their soda fountain wasn't mixing properly or something, but I didn't deem it as something worth making a complaint about. Overall, the food and the service was great and those two things I mentioned are definitely not enough to drop their rating down a full star. I enjoyed eating here regardless and will return again soon to try other items on their menu.
We were staying in the area and ended up having dinner twice in this pub. 4 stars is average between these two visits. I’d rate one 5 stars but the other 2-3. It seems one of those places where you need to know what to order, even though menu is reasonably short. I do not recommend ordering salmon, which was a small piece of fish on a big pile of spinach. Also the Shepherds pie rendition I was served was the weirdest one (and least good) I’ve ever tried. It was a very thin layer of mediocre beef with 3 pieces of carrots, covered in a pool of gravy with mashed potatoes piped around the perimeter of the plate. In the gravy pool, there were swimming some peas that tasted like they were hastily defrosted before serving. It was under-seasoned and the large pieces of bay leave I had to fish out of the gravy pool were just the proverbial cherry on top. We came back only because the kid liked his burger, it was raining and it was the only restaurant in the area without deafening music. I’m glad we did though because I ordered fish and chips and somehow it was actually fantastic. Granted, “chips” were regular fries but fish was plump, succulent pieces of cod meat with perfectly crisp breading. Tiny portion of cole slaw was also good. Vegetarian burgers are frequently an afterthought at places like this but it was pretty good. Beer on tap was OK, there isn’t a large selection. Got a mixed cocktail in happy hour, don’t recommend it as it was mostly ice in a small glass. Nothing special to say about service. On the first visit, we were left to our own devices until we asked for a check and on the next visit, the waiter stopped by to ask if everything was ok. Beware of credit card fee, we were able to pay with debit card to avoid it. It does leave unpleasant aftertaste though, feels like being bamboozled. Just roll it into your cost, for cripes sake.
Decent bar near not far from the goings on in the Financial District and Wall St. They have trivia on Tuesdays which is decently run, though the questions are more spaced out than a typical trivia bar (definitely to encourage me sales). The waitstaff is helpful and pretty friendly, though at times aloof and seemingly singularly focused on non-bar functions.
We were just in for drinks, but the food smelled most appetizing. The bartender was attentive, though strangely unsmiling. It is a delightfully calm spot, where you can hold a conversation.
Great food, and great atmosphere. Our bartender was very attentive and helpful. Gave great drink suggestions, and catered to our orders. I met a friend here to catch up and had a great time… showed up to work a little past lunch break. Highly recommended, they have great tap beer options.
Burger was OK but pints felt smaller than usual and too much foam in Guinness =)
Great pub, wish I work nearby! The staff are nice - my friend sent back salad for vegan options, and they easily accommodated. I was prepared to be amongst a rowdy crowd on St. Patrick's day, but it wasn't too bad since we sat in the back dining area. It was darker than usual, I guess for festive vibes! Lots of basketball fans watching the game. Impressive service on this busy night! Love getting pickle shots! This place does it right! Also, I recommend the curry fries and chicken pot pie and of course, a pint of Guinness! Two public bathrooms. I believe they have lunch specials on weekdays and bottomless brunch on weekends!
A pretty chill spot in the neighborhood with affordable prices. We’ve only been on weekends for lunch, and there are always seats available. It’s quiet with a relaxed vibe, so you can actually have a conversation without yelling over noise. I usually go for the burgers, but I tried something from the brunch menu last time and it was pretty solid too.
Visiting from out of town and always try to find something that is not a chain. This did not disappoint. It’s on a side street and has an inviting outside. The inside reminds me of an upscale true Irish pub. The service was great and very personable. I had fish and chips, wife had Rueben and son had bangers and mash. All were top notch. The brown gravy on bangers was outstanding. This would be a must go to if in NYC.
Ryan Maguire is one of those straightforward bars that is unpretentious and does the trick if you need a quick drink. There is not much to it but busy on a weekday. Beer was cold. Looked like they had food too which I didn’t try. Nothing would draw me here but looks like the locals like it.
Food was pretty bad, I ordered a steak sandwich. Couldn’t really eat it. Fries were OK, slightly undercooked, but not horrible. Atmosphere was OK, not some place I would go back to.
I usually love this place recently but some genius decided this is good lighting for a pub. Was just here 2 days ago and vibe was great. Now it’s like a bar in Penn Sta. Same lighting. Now I remember why I stopped coming here. Update: don’t come tues and Friday. That’s the nights this bartender works. He keeps the lights bright cuz it helps him see. You could operate in here. Selfish much.
Solid FiDi Irish pub—Ryan Maguire's is a reliable go-to for casual eats and drinks. Food was tasty: shepherd's pie hearty and comforting with good flavor, fish & chips crispy with fresh cod, and wings had nice buffalo kick. Nothing fancy, but satisfying portions for pub grub. Service was friendly and quick—bartenders know their stuff and kept things moving. Atmosphere is great: classic pub feel with TVs for games, warm lighting, spacious bar area—perfect for watching sports or unwinding after work, though it can get busy/noisy.
Went here for the first time for dinner with my friend the other night. It's a nice looking bar and the place was pretty clean. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was okay at best typically bar food. The Cajun Fries were a bit of a let down. Not sure what the seasoning was on the fries but it didn't have much heat. The Chicken Fingers had an odd texture. I'm sure the experience at the bar would have been much better. Will def give it another shot and have some drinks next time!
This was a very disappointing experience. The service and the food left much to be desired. I did not feel at all welcomed and the food was definitely microwaved, presentation poor and a definite lack of service. The soup starter was microwaved so much it had spilled out over the bowl and onto the plate, very shoddy. For mains, I had chicken pot pie, which although looked good was barely warm and my partner had stuffed chicken with cold green beans. A shame as the look of the venue was good and a reasonable choice and price range on the menu. You're expected to tip here and being in the hospitality industry myself I have high expectations for the service I get, there was none here.
Nice bar but poor service. I was there Sunday evening, 11/10, around 8 p.m. and sat at the bar. After serving the initial drink, the male bartender did not check back again and spent some time watching the TV behind the bar.
Guinness comes in 8 oz glasses, so there's that I must've came at a bad time because there wasn't a smile to be had, I used all my charm to no avail. Am not one to write bad reviews but if I could have that 12 minutes of my life back that'd be great
Came in for happy hour and was thoroughly disappointed. We ordered a round of beers as well as fish and chips and nachos to start. Luckily we waited to put in our order of entrees because wow was the food a major disappointment. The nachos were an extremely small portion and insanely soggy. The fish and chips were even more disappointing: two small MICROWAVED pieces of soggy fish (can’t even say it was cod). The inside was a good vibe but the food was such a disappointment that I would not recommend or return.
I visited on Saturday night. The food was just ok. Fries were saggy. I asked for Jameson neat and bartender poured some cheap watered down whisky out of Jameson bottle. If you look at the bottles at the bar, they are old/wear off and are filled to the top with some cheap liquor. This place should be shut down by liquor authority.
Waitress was very lovely however I definitely don't recommend the salmon was very dry. The Asian chilly chicken was good. The manager was informed of the salmon being over cooked and dry and he literally was debating with me. Trying to convince me that it was good. Manager did not try to accommodate me with any other options or offer me any other options .He also still left the meal on my bill in which I paid . Service on manager part was handled very poorly. FYI Customer is always right
We wanted to have a late lunch here, but we left with an unpleasant feeling. The food was average, and inside there was a large group of people making excessive noise, yet no one asked them to quiet down. The worst part came at the end. They brought us a bill that matched exactly what we had ordered. Two minutes later, the server snatched it from my hand and gave me a different one — 20% higher. They added a tip automatically, which no one here deserved. The tip couldn’t be removed. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
Had a blackened salmon salad and Guinness 0%. Say at the bar. Beautiful bar, bar keep, Annie, was not very kind, not a good sign as I am very sweet and usually loved by all. Salad was good not great. Salmon was not blackened, which is searing with an iron skillet with a lot of spice, Cajun style. It was instead obviously cooked on a griddle, rather dry, cooked through, not seared, should have known better than to order a Cajun dish at an Irish pub but then why was it on the menu instead of something more Irish such as prawns or something? The arugula and other ingredients were first rate though and the place is so pretty that I give it 4 stars!❤️
