Opinions de Restaurante Gourmet Alto
I don’t normally write reviews but I was compelled to for this restaurant. Wow, what an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, everything was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, and the overall experience exceeded expectations. You can tell a lot of care goes into every detail as you’ll see in my pictures. This place is a must-visit! I drove an hour from East Patchogue to Roslyn for this restaurant, and I’ll be doing it again in the near future.
There aren't enough stars to adequately rate this rare gem...the entire staff is attentive and extremely cordial....We shared an incredible crab meat appetizer...followed by an huge Bronzino Oreganata and a pasta with a gigantic Prawn...If that wasn't enough ...cappuccino with a white chocolate mousse... Wines are highly rated.. My favorite Super Tudcan. felt as if we dined in italy... This place is truly one of a kind..
I can’t recommend Alto enough! we were so happy with everything about our experience here. the food was amazing, the staff was extremely attentive, and the owner was very knowledgeable and personable, making a point to speak with each table. we ordered the small charcuterie board, seafood pasta, and poached fig salad. it’s the perfect place for sharing dishes which I love, and even though many of the reviews will mention small plates, this was the perfect amount of food for two people. we are so excited to return and try more dishes!
A little slice of Italy right in Roslyn — every plate was a hit. A gorgeous little gem in Roslyn that feels straight out of Italy. We shared a spread of small plates, and everything was beautifully done — the burrata with roasted tomatoes and pesto was creamy and bright, the tuna crudo was paper-thin and melt-in-your-mouth, and the grilled shrimp were enormous (almost like lobster tails!). The charcuterie board was generous and artfully presented with prosciutto, cheeses, and warm pita, and the mortadella crostini was unforgettable. Service was friendly and the vibe was lively but relaxed — perfect for sharing wine, laughter, and small plates with friends. Favorites: Tuna crudo, shrimp, mortadella crostini, burrata.
You will not regret eating at this restaurant! In my 48 years of existence, I have never experienced food at this level of deliciousness. I am all Italian and grew up surrounded by great food, always. This is a whole different level of culinary magnificence! The taste and presentation of the food is unprecedented.
Awesome chill atmosphere, beautiful food and wine. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian night, don’t walk, run!!!!
Phenomenal!! Nico has a niche in Roslyn that is different from all the other great spots! He is personable and his food is fresh and authentic. The staff and chef were welcoming and couldn’t have been more gracious! My husband and I worried that the food wouldn’t be plentiful because they were described as ‘small plates’, but it was perfect. Every dish was so tastefully presented and delicious! We started with the cheeseboard and the wild mushrooms. One word for each. Phenomenal. Each cheese was chosen and paired perfectly with the honey from Italy, the nuts and delicious wine! We shared the meatballs which were fabulous with a sauce that was so amazing that we didn’t leave a drop! The atmosphere was inviting and upbeat. We are so excited to have this warm and inviting establishment in our town!
Small authentic Italian plates paired with amazing selections of wines. I love this place.
What a fabulous evening we had at Alto. Everything was Very GOOD! However, some things were absolutely exceptional. The service, from the moment we entered. Kind and warm. The endive salad and the meatballs were exceptional. The skirt steak was beyond tender. The drinks were perfection. The toasty hot flatbread was as warm as hospitality can be. I do not know how they prep the tomatoes that are served with the melt in your mouth burrata , but trust me I’m going back for more. I don’t want to gatekeep so you know you must go. I’ve connected with the fab mgt so hope I can get in once you all find out how great this place is.

We went to dinner at this lovely Italian restaurant and had such a great experience. It’s a small place, but that just makes it feel cozy and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious — everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. Our server, Joyce, was amazing. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Her service truly made our night even better. We will definitely be coming back
Delicious food, super fast service, and beautiful ambiance. Portions are large for a good price. We were surprised by the super fast service. Amazing drinks and wine selection. I just wish the menu had more appetizers on it. It felt like things were missing. Like they needed good sides such as fries or something.
A fantastic experience all around! Went for dinner with a few friends to see what all the hype was about and was not disappointed. The food and atmosphere was incredible! We were given great recommendations by Nico as to what appetizers, small plates, and entrees to order, as well as which wines paired best with the dishes. The food was incredibly fresh and everything tasted like it was made with a great degree of thought and care. The service was prompt and exceptional throughout the entire experience. We were all very impressed with everything this evening and are excited for the future of this wonderful new restaurant. We will absolutely be back!
Love this spot! Real, authentic and delicious. The food is perfectly executed and strikes the right balance of traditional and creative. Ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive and on point. Can't wait to come back!
Excellent service and truly delicious food. Every dish stood out, from the small board to the short ribs, chicken, eggplant, and dessert. Thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor.
Also don’t write reviews often but the owner, chefs and support staff deserve it. Alto is awesome, food is even better. From the ingredients, the the flavors they make healthy cooking enjoyable. Let’s help Small businesses win.
Alto did a fantastic job tonight! Atmosphere was rustic but elegant, service was attentive, the staff was friendly, and the food was excellent. We felt like we were at an upscale enoteca in Italy. We enjoyed the ribs, skirt steak, meatballs, endive salad, meat and cheese board, along with some of our daughter’s pasta. If you like real Italian wine, they have a fun selection. If you are not familiar with Italian wine ask for suggestions and break away from California wines! To end the night we had the tiramisu and chocolate torta (which is exactly the same as the ones I’ve had in northern Italy). Great value establishment and the 5pm seating was perfect with kids. Definitely come here and enjoy! Thank you Alto!
Love this restaurant! Cozy and delicious, with a great vibe-chef is from our favorite part of Italy and you can feel the love in the cooking. Small plate share concept and everything we tried was perfect.
I booked my reservation through "Resy" for (4). Once we arrived the atmosphere was lively and our table was ready. The Owner Nico sat us in the corner table which was optimal for cross table conversations. Our waitress was attentive and told us the specials of the day. We ordered Drinks and Fresh Focaccia bread was brought to the table still warm :). I had a delicious Semi- dirty Martini which was made perfectly and delivered to the table by the bartender. Another person ordered Tequila on the rocks with Mutilid lime and my Wife had the Super Tuscany red wine. We then ordered a handful of plates to share with the table and the Waitress timed them perfectly. For apps we had the small cheese plate, which was not small at all, it came with two different cheeses and a side salumi. First plates were Tuna tartar and Meatballs both were delicious. Next Came the Prawns, which were the size of lobsters, and paired with warm cauliflower with Cannellini beans Next we had the Skirt steak and The homemade Cheese Raviolis. The owner who was making his rounds, conversing with patrons, then stopped by our table and informed us about each dish we had ordered. Finally, Based on his recommendation, we ordered a lemon cake and of course the Tiramisu for desert This restaurant has hit on some many levels. The food was delicious, the Atmosphere was lively and the Owner was completely present during our dinner. Whether it is an intimate dinner for two or an escape for multiple couples, I cannot recommend Alto enough.
Perfect night out. Delicious food, warm atmosphere and attentive service. Tried some specials and regular menu items- all were top notch. Mortadella bruschetta, skirt steak with miso and gnocchi with clams were my favorites.
Quality of food is exceptional. Innovative authentic Italian fare. Service is excellent. Owner is warm, inviting, and very hands on.

We had the fortunate opportunity to dine at Alto Enoteca, a newly opened gem in Roslyn, NY, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The space—formerly La Bottega—has been completely transformed into a warm, stylish, and inviting atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a great evening. Owner Nico, originally from Abruzzo, and Chef Massimo from Capri bring an authentic yet modern sensibility to the menu. Their concept balances traditional Italian recipes with a contemporary touch, all prepared with unmistakable care and the freshest ingredients. The menu is built around “small plates”—Italian-style tapas—which allows you to explore a range of flavors without feeling overwhelmed. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, focused, and perfectly suited to the cuisine. Just as impressive is the staff: warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly invested in creating a memorable dining experience. Every dish we tried was truly delicious. I hesitated to write this review because it feels like we’re giving away a wonderful new secret—but they deserve the recognition. Alto Enoteca has found the right formula, and we’re excited to see it thrive.

Cheers to Nico, his staff, bar and kitchen! We had a fantastic meal at Alto. Not your typical small bites - they were creative, delicious and pleasing to the eye, as well as the stomach. Nico was so kind, gracious and accommodating with help getting us a reservation. Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing new restaurant in Roslyn, NY. An Italian wine list with a perfectly curated medium sized plate sharable menu. The meat and cheese boards, bruschetta, confit tomato, short ribs Genovese and home made gnocchi were huge hits in our group. Service was professional and on point, overseen by passionate ownership. Save yourself the jetlag and go to Alto Enoteca instead.
Perfect night out. Delicious food, warm atmosphere and attentive service. Tried some specials and regular menu items- all were top notch. Mortadella bruschetta, skirt steak with miso and gnocchi with clams were my favorites.
What a spectacular space with the food and wine to complement it. Large selection of great Italian wines and small plates that are best shared. A classy and sophisticated vibe that you don’t find else where .
Hard to believe I am not in Italy! Best new restaurant in Roslyn village. What a Gem. So different from every other restaurant on the island. Food atmosphere and service is outstanding. The Italian wine list is amazing too. Can't recommend it enough. Will be back soon.
We came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The food was pretty decent overall — I’d say about an 8/10 — and the vibe was nice. We did have to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation, which wasn’t ideal, but Nico, the host, was very kind, accommodating, and did his best to take care of us, which we appreciated. That said, for a birthday reservation, I was hoping for something small to make it feel a bit more special — even a candle, a complimentary dessert, or a glass of champagne would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment of the birthday at all, which was a bit disappointing given the occasion. Overall, a good experience with solid food and friendly staff, but there’s definitely an opportunity to elevate special-occasion dining just a bit more.
