We had yet another AMAZING dinner at Scotch and Sirloin!! Service as well as flavor and doneness!! I've ALWAYS been told to never order seafood at a steak house. I have NEVER been disappointed!! Hubby always steak...me always seafood. US... always escargot!! ALWAYS amazing!!
Our Dinner Club recently visited here! Started off with the French Onion Soup! Love that melted cheese!! I then had the Teriyaki Steak and my wife had the Shrimp Scampi. Both dishes were amazing...Also worth noting that we enjoyed the all you can eat salad bar prior to the dinner plates.
We had a Shrimp Scampi, 10oz prime rib, stuffed peppers. (In pictured) (Not pictured) Broccoli cheddar soup, and mushrooms. Everything was very good.
Have ALWAYS loved this place!! So sad, yet another establishment, is closing. They will be missed terribly ☹️ Food, service and management was top notch as always! Thank you Scotch for making my last trip there and my Mother's Day spectacular ❤️!
A little bit more on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. Amazing food and great service. I hsd the Ribeye steak recently and it was cooked to perfection. Melted in my mouth seasoned expertly my complements to the Chef and being a Chef myself I don't give compliments like that lightly.
Absolutely the best Steakhouse in WNY! The meal was spot on... and a totally enjoyable experience all the way around!
A huge family favorite for Special Occasions. Consistently great food & service. Cannot skip dessert with their signature Raspberry Cream, especially on a birthday.
It was a slow night (Thursday) and plenty of tables available. Service was good, but food was just ok. Lots of old people and while that is great, I'm sure this place was much better when they were young and energetic (the 80's and 90's I'm thinking). Atmosphere was rustic barn/school house. Steak was decent in size and temperature, but veggies were soagy and baked potato was hard and overdone (probably in hot box from the night before). I would go back next time I am in town and give this place a second chance.
Been going there for many years, and the Scotch & Sirloin is fabulous!!! Great food, awesome bar, and it's family owned and operated. The owners, Kevin and Joe, and their families have done so many generous and charitable things for a lot of people in need over the years...quietly and without recognition. This past December 2020 when the restaurants were struggling, and open for takeout only, they helped the Amherst Police provide toys and a holiday dinner for about 50 families in need. Support locally owned businesses...support the Scotch & Sirloin.
Great place, great atmosphere, greeaaat service, great drinks and great food. One of their specials was a teriyaki crusted salmon which was amazing. I can't speak of their steak personally, but I was told by the 3 others that were with me, it was about perfect, and was cooked beautifully. Overall I think it's completely safe to say that Scotch 'N Sirloin is excellent, and totally worth it.
I'm writing this strictly for their Monday evenings, which feature wings and sliders specials. I have been here multiple times on Mondays and have never been disappointed by the food nor the service. In fact, it is always excellent. Top notch service and bartenders, both groups paying attention to detail and both groups attentive and accommodating. If you're looking for a Monday evening out - when many other places are dark - I suggest trying the Scotch. - The Story Garage
I love this place. My prime rib was absolutely beautiful, cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The sides were very good and the salad bar was very good also. I have been here a few times and it's always a bit pricy, but you go to a place like this expecting to spend a little bit more on quality beef. I can't wait to go back!
In the years that I have been dining at the Scotch, I can state unequivocally, they have the best prime rib in all of Western New York. I particularly like my rib bloody rare. It always shows up red in the middle and warm. Perfect every time. The staff are always so nice and willing to make your evening very enjoyable. When you ask for a drink , they don't make you wait, they get it for you right away. We have been to many restaurants and this is my biggest issue. We will continue to dine at the scotch. We were especially thrilled when they brought back the salad bar, a tradition that went back many years. A great place to dine, a special place to relax and enjoy a cocktail.
First time here. Love the rustic decor. The prime rib and mushroom bisque was very good. The salad was huge. Prime rib was delicious, tender and juicy. My husband's steak was the best he had, no gristle at all. Our server Nathan was very attentive, friendly and came by more than once to check on us. Will definitely come back again.
Received a groupon and I ordered the prime rib 12 oz and it was the biggest most tender and delicious steak I’ve ever had. The sweet potato fries are amazing!! my order was done in 15 minutes for pick up and the hostess was kind and efficient!!
Went there for Dinner with two of my friends. The Service was exceptional. The food was Delicious, my one friend had the Teriyaki Steak with the Bernaise Sauce, my other friend had the Salmon and the Salad Bar, and I had the 12 oz Filet Dinner Medium, also the Salad Bar. Everything was done to Perfection. I am so Disappointed that this Restaurant is closing at the end of the Month for good! It was always one of my Favorites. They will be missed. Sorry to see you go!!! 5 Stars in my book!
We had an absolutely amazing meal! Our server was fantastic, was super animated and incredibly helpful! We had stuffed banana peppers, clams Rockefeller, and bacon wrapped scallops for our appetizers. Everything was amazing, but definitely recommend the stuffed banana peppers. For dinner we all had the steak special which was I believe in New York strip with a cheesy garlic sauce on top served with green beans and a side. We got the 20 oz and it was literal heaven. Because we had not already tortured ourselves enough, we got dessert and I got this thing that was like a ice cream cake. The hardest thing I've ever done in my life was getting out of that chair to get to my car. I had the meat sweats all night long and I was so horribly uncomfortable and the massive food baby that I had conceived. Would I do it again? Most certainly! 10 out of 10 would recommend this place! And look for the waiter with the long ponytail. He will definitely make your night better!
Best steaks anywhere! Service is awesome! Love the steakhouse atmosphere... can talk to the chefs: they are right in the open and you can see them cooking. Also love the salad bar and best homemade soups too!
always impressed with the food and wonderful service. we sat as a group of 8 in the bar, near the fireplace, the vibe was laid back and cozy. highly recommend if you're looking for a place to catch up with friends...dont overlook this gem! the bar menu is excellent, especially the sliders made from ground up steaks
Absolutely amazing place to eat! I'm forgetting our servers name, but on 06/20/22 at around 5pm, our server (male) was absolutely perfect. I very rarely get that kind of service these days and he was very polite and on point. Will definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!
Food was fantastic! Many steak and seafood choices. Service great! Salad bar was good, small and unimpressive, but good. Low lighting and rustic atmosphere. If your wanting fine dinning white table cloths then pic another option. As it's a steakhouse, pricey. Dinner for two with a drink close to $100, but food was worth it!
I was here for a funeral breakfast but everything was very good. I didn't expect it to have such a Western vibe to it since it was first time. The drinks at the bar were good and overall pleased with the food offered at the breakfast. Would love to come back and have a dinner there!
We've been dining here for over forty years. We have never been served a meal less than excellent. Their steaks are savory, tender and cooked to your specification. The lobster tails are succulent and delicious with candle warmed butter. The salad bar is profuse with all the fresh ingredient selections you expect, and more. We usually go early--4:30 or 5:00--on a weekday. The ambience is quiet with soft music, allowing for easy conversation, although it can get louder when more customers arrive in the evening.
This is one of our favorite steak houses. Pricing is reasonable for the meat.its not cheap but it's not overly expensive. Their prime rib is excellent. They do cook meats very rare if thats what you like(my favorite for red meats) . Most restaurants usually stop and medium rare or their rare is not what I consider rare. Their sautéed mushrooms are delicious. I've also had their cedar plank salmon as well. I don't think I've had a dish there that I didn't like.
Dinner was good. I would have given 5 stars but my porkchops were a little under cooked near the bone. My friend said his steak was delicious and cooked perfect. Next time I'll order steak at the steakhouse!!
Throwback atmosphere, like walking in to a time warp. Was really impressed with the food tho, I loved the peppercorn crusted filet.
Was expecting more I guess. More of a N.Y. steakhouse. Bigger steaks, oysters etc. My server was sweet and very attentive
Meat was delicious & perfectly served. Good baked potatoes. Ok salad bar. Nominal choices for my vegetarian aunt. Service ok but def not charismatic on any level.
This is an excellent restaurant. Everything was awesome. The salad bar could use more (no cheese or egg) variety. We both had prime rib and they both came out perfect. The baked potato was very good. My only problem is the price on all the menu items, they are a bit high. This is a special occasion place to go.
We all ordered different entrees and all were done perfectly. Atmosphere was pleasent and our server was excellent. French onion soup was very good and enjoyed by all. Salad bar fresh and good. New York Strip, prime rib and sirloin were done per order. Just a perfect experience!!
Food was delicious, but I've had better for the price. Host at the door was very professional and we had two servers. Jacob is a superb server and should mentor others. There manager didn't visit our table during Friday night dinner service. May have contributed to a possible five star.
This restaurant is PHENOMENAL! If you want a tasty steak cooked to your liking, go here and enjoy!! Cooks deserve a raise for how well they prepare, cook, and serve the dishes! I ordered a 10oz New York strip sirloin and it was amazing! My boyfriend got the lobster tail with the burger and it was so delicious and filled with taste. Tasted like a real burger not like a burger you get at most places now a days. My waitress with glasses and silver hair did not attend to my boyfriend and I well and she was missing more than half the time. Another male waiter with long brown hair served us our food and checked on us and even chatted with us. We had to let him know we had amazing meals and that we appreciated his service to us. We wish we could tip only our cooks that night because they were the ones that stole the show! The ambiance in the restaurant makes me feel at home and you can watch the cooks make the delicious meals in front of you. Took time for the food to come out but was worth the wait! If we are in the area again, we will most definitely come back again! Thank you very much!
Great food, good service too. Don't leave out the sauteed mushroom caps. Awesome! Although I thought my rib eye was a little more rare than the medium-rare requested, I didn't complain, as it was so big that I knew half would go home for another meal...and sliced and quickly sauteed for 30 seconds it made a perfect steak salad the next day! Always enjoy dinner here.
We travel to the area every couple years with the fire department and stopping here is always a must. This visit was amazing. We had a very large party with some rowdy guys and the waiter handled us seamlessly. Food was great! Trying to make the reservation was a bit difficult but overall amazing....
The service was great! The clams casino and French onion soup was delicious. For our entrees, we got a variety of steaks, and they were delicious as well. Our only disappointment were the sides; boiled beans and carrots, and rice. There were other side options, but we ordered what we ordered. Neither of which seemed to take any effort in preparing.
The food was delicious, as always, and the cocktail person was great, however, my wife and I were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our disappointment began when we walked in the door. The host barely greeted us and made little, if any eye contact and when we were leaving he was more interested in his phone than in asking us how our experience was. Our waitress, while pleasant, was not very attentive at all. I made sure that she was aware that we were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Other than a cursory and half hearted "happy birthday" no other mention or comment was made. She also only came to check on us and our satisfaction once during our meal. My wife had to ask her for more water when her glass was empty. Scotch and Sirloin has always been "our place" to go when celebrating our special occasions. After tonight's experience, we may have to reconsider "our place"
Good but not great. There's an air of a used to be great in the past vibe in the attitude and decore. Wine and beer list very small, basic, and even dated. I think our waitress got the cook times confused on our steaks. Dinning companion ordered the full sized filet special medium but got medium rare perhaps even rare. I ordered 10 oz sirloin medium rare and got medium. The underdone was eventually refired. But our waitress was mostly absent so we had to make the request ourselves. Excellent flavor on both meals, however. Nice salty sear. Basic sides and minimum salad bar offerings. Was never given or offered anything for wrong cook on steak (we never mentioned mine was over since it was still very good). Might go back. Or just find somewhere new to be our go-to steak joint
It was easy to get a seat on a Friday evening. Wasn't a huge fan. Definitely expected more robust apps for the prices. Shrimp were a little smaller than I would expect in the cocktail, scallops were a little smaller and bacon wrap was overdone. The kids chicken strips were actually really good. Lightly breaded and tender. Larger portion size was more than the kids could cram down. The porkchops were large and cooked nicely but a little bit on the bland side. Apple sauce definitely helped. The prime rib was cut in such an odd shape and a huge amount of fat. I understand you get a good chunk of fat in a prime rib cut but this seemed like it was cut in a way to give me extra fat and it was cut in the shape of a wedge. Massively thick on one side and razor thin on the other. Made it an uncomfortable experience having to carve out edible pieces. Service was solid except the first time I asked for a refill it didn't come but eventually showed up. Overall for the $200+ (2 adults 3 kids, no alcohol) price tag, I did expect more value and quality.
We tried this place for the 1st time. Walking in, we liked the vibe. The bread was so stale it was hard as a rock. The water-logged veggies were not warm & a bad version of the birdseye steam fresh from the freezer section. The salad bar was pretty weak. They get 3 stars because the steak itself was decent & our server did bring us drinks.
I've been a few times, still not decide how I feel about it. It's a steak house with an older feel. Staff was friendly enough, limited beer selection, plenty of seating, open salad bar not that it's winning any reward thou. I've had the best steak here and just okay steaks there. Seems some of the chefs are just better then others. We orders two 10oz steaks, they cooked one 20oz and Did a butterfly cut after cooking it, so we had two steaks seared only on one side
My husband and I wanted a good place to have dinner for our 40th anniversary. We decided on Scotch and Sirloin because it's a place we always liked before COVID. It was a little pricey but you got so much and we like the atmosphere. You got a great dinner with the salad bar. Now you have to pay extra for the salad bar. We were so disappointed. Our server was great, very friendly and attentive. Our food on the other hand was not great. The veggies and baked potato were cold. So cold that the butter on the potato would not melt. My piece of steak tasted good but had so much grissel that I couldn't cut one end of it, even with a steak knife. The sweet potato fries were very good. They forgot part of our meal but we didn't miss it until our server mentioned it. The dessert was delicious, until we got to the little plastic pieces in it. Probably won't go there again unless it the choice of a family member.
Service was excellent, soup de jour (soup of the day chicken noodle) was decadent, and the ambiance is good. Noise level is a 4. hence the 2 stars. The bread they serve is dry and not warm, the Caesar salad is served with a brown Caesar dressing which doesn't taste right, and for $37 that NY strip should've been out of this world. Unfortunately, it was tough to chew and had gristle in almost every bite and tasted churned. The curried rice was not good and the snap peas well I'm not a fan. Overall this steakhouse has Ruth Chris prices and IHOP quality. I was not impressed.
Most of us ordered prime rib & it was tough as nails... 2 of us in our party got their prime rib bone in, which I can never remember seeing. Seems like they are closing because they can't get good beef & staff, as they used to be open late for bar folk - thimk thry close at 8pm now. Week to go before they close forever 😭
Horrible with extremely slow service. Waitress was nice enough but not once refilled any waters. Even though kitchen could be responsible for speed of food, the waitress could have checked on us. We really felt like an afterthought (maybe she was riding on the guaranteed 20% gratuity?). The restaurant and bathrooms were freezing cold and members of our party were really struggling. Food was just okay. Salad bar was underwhelming. The recommended sangria was syrupy and gross. Overall an incredibly disappointing experience for the hundreds and hundreds of dollars we spent.
I don't know if the food was rushed because we came around 7 and they close at 8 but I was majorly disappointed. One the waitress couldn't even remember the specials she was decent but never once smiled!!! She didn't even offer steak sauce once the food came had to get another waiter to do it. Now as for the food it was bland no seasoning at all. The steak good sear but bland so was the vegetables and salmon. The only decent thing was the bread and stuffed banana peppers. For $135 I could not believe it I'm willing to pay for anything worth it but this experience was horrible. Even the fried shrimp batter was bland. I still left a decent tip because that's just who I am.
The food was good. However the young man working there seemed as though he couldn’t care less about greeting customers or seating them. He treated his job like it was a corner gin mill and put zero effort into tending to customers. It was quiet and only a few tables were full. He spent his time socializing instead of doing things like: making sure the salad bar had bread, bringing steak sauce to the table and even taking our order. For the money charged for average food, below average service... I was very disappointed.
This place is stuck in 1969. We were the only people there under 50 for sure. The salad bar was terrible the lettuce was wilting and was a mix of very few spinach leaves mixed with a lot of iceberg. I would rather have the salad bar at a Pizza Hut. When I go to a steak house this day and age I expect fresh baked rolls brought warm to my table this place had a large pile of bread and rolls at the salad bar that did not look appetizing and didn’t taste great. We got a shrimp cocktail and it was $14 for 5 pieces of shrimp and the cocktail sauce came in clear glass coffee cup with random lettuce in the bottom and cocktail sauce on top. Over priced. I also expect a steak house to be able to cook a great steak, mine was a bit under cooked and flavorless filet. It was a huge disappointment we should have gone to one of the other steak houses in the area and paid less and gotten better food. The atmosphere also has not been updated since probably 1969 . Cocktail servers with white button up shirts and bow ties. It was strange.
Food was sub-optimal. Ordered medium well and got medium rare. Steak was not wel prepared . Very chewy and stringy. That is for thier top sirloin. Pepsi was good
We attended dinner with a family of 6, ordering steaks, fish, and several children's meals. The service was incredibly slow. The waiter and kitchen staff spent more time talking at the window with each other than they did with patrons. They were out of milk when requested for the children. When I asked the host about how long our meals would be after waiting over 1 hour for food there was no explanation, no apology. Shortly after asking about it the food appeared, likely having been sitting waiting to be served. The fish was overcooked, vegetables cold and bland. The twice baked potato had no flavor and the filling of it was not properly mixed (grainy and lumpy, and no add-ins that would normally be seen in the side). The salad bar looked picked over, we didn't bother with adding it as it was simply lettuce and some dressing with a few other bits, mostly empty bowls. The steak was flavorful and tender, and was the only redeeming part of the meal. No one asked us how the food was, and no one apologized for the wait. Not recommended. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Food OK, restaurant is OK. First time I came here was almost 20 years ago, the food was great back then, well, thing has changed now. The price is good like 20 years ago, very affordable. Came here for my mom birthday, nothing special...I guess this place is just OK, not going to recommend people to come here. I do like the decorations and the old wood feeling, you can't find them in any steak house in NYC.
