Opinions de Skydome Restaurant Arlington
If you are looking for a place with a view, a sleek vibe, and a little bit of “wait… are we moving?” energy, the rooftop lounge at the DoubleTree in Crystal City is your spot. Sitting on the 15th floor, the entire restaurant slowly rotates, which means you can either stay put like a normal person or do what I did and strategically change seats mid-meal to maximize the views (not something I would recommend if you're on a date unless you're just helping their view ). Either way, you are getting a full panoramic tour of Washington, DC without having to walk, sweat, or argue with Google Maps. The rotation is slow enough that you do not feel motion sick, but fast enough that you suddenly realize your drink now has a completely different skyline behind it. It is oddly relaxing and slightly mesmerizing, like a grown-up lazy Susan with city lights. The burger was excellent. Juicy, well-cooked, and exactly what you want while watching the city slide by outside the windows. Service was smooth, the atmosphere was calm and upscale, and the evening view really shines once the sun goes down. If you are staying at the hotel, this is a no-brainer, aside from the fact it's typical big city hotel prices. If you are not staying at the hotel, it is still worth the trip up. Come for the view, stay for the slow spin, and enjoy the fact that dinner also doubles as sightseeing.
This was my very first time dining at the Skydome and it certainly won’t be the last. It has the BEST panoramic views of the DC skyline. We had reservation and we were sat right down. The hostess and our server Adil provided excellent service. The cocktails along with the Brussels sprouts and their flat bread was delicious. Everything was cooked fresh and plated nicely. This place gives you an exceptional experience.
Finally made it here after hearing about the amazing view sometime ago. The view is amazing!! Probably the best view of DC and the best view in the DMV. The pictures don’t do it justice. The food and cocktails were great but you definitely come here for the view. Can’t go wrong with the hummus and assorted bread. Perfect for a starter and was our fav. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the octopus but the Shrimp Paccheri Pasta and the Mushroom Bolognese Paccheri Pasta dishes were pretty good. We also enjoyed a view rounds of Margarita Royales. Service was a little slow at first but the restaurant spins and does a full rotation about every 47 minutes, so you can always put your order in and tell your waiter whatcha need when you circle back around lol. Just teasing but yeah you could. It’s a little pricey but again you are paying for the amazing view and experience. Absolutely worth it.
Excellent!! We had dinner and Thanksgiving dinner the two days that we stayed. Everyone was kind and friendly. Highly recommend, but be sure to may reservations in advance. Oh yeah, the Sky Dome rotates so you get to see Virginia and DC from above.
Went to dinner for my brother-inlaw birthday. Had a nice time this was my second time coming so it did not disappoint again. The ambiance is so spectacular the views are amazing just overall a great experience.
Came here the other day to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday with him, and it was a fantastic experience! We were seated early, the food was delicious, our waiter was kind and attentive, the views are amazing, and they even gave us a complimentary dessert with a candle in it to celebrate. Amazing dining experience and I hope to be back one day. Thank you!
The atmosphere at this restaurant is spectacular. It takes roughly 45minutes for the restaurant to do a full rotation. You are able to see views from all around the location, including the monument, the airport, and the river, are just a few to name. I made a reservation for my friends birthday and their customer service was extremely accommodating. They brought out a dessert with candles without me even having to ask. Overall 5/5 star !
Nice place! It's revolving around the city light. And they made good drinks.
We had a wonderful experience overall. The service was truly exceptional — every member of the staff we interacted with was warm, attentive, and kind. The food was great as well. I personally had the crab sandwich, which was flavorful and very satisfying. The octopus dish we all shared was actually quite delicious — well-seasoned and tender. That said, a few of us felt a bit off the next day. We’re not entirely sure the octopus was the cause, but it was the only dish we all had in common. Could just be a coincidence, but worth mentioning gently. The setting is charming, with a touch of old-fashioned elegance. It may feel a bit dated in spots, but still retains a certain classy appeal. And the views are absolutely stunning — a perfect backdrop to a relaxing meal. We’d definitely return. The atmosphere, the flavors, and the service made it a memorable stop.
Absolutely loved the experience. Beautiful views. Great food and service. Unexpected fireworks in DC! I will agree with another reviewer that it was a bit chilly. Plan to wear something to keep you warmer. Overall a wonderful birthday treat for a friend.
Rotating panoramic view overlooking the Pentagon, and Ronald Reagan Airport (DCA). - Grilled Octopus: Full length tentacle perfectly cooked, slight but noticeable and even char. A mild smokiness perfumes the meat, but serves only to highlight the octopus flavor. - Corn Hash (side): Unexpectedly memorable. A few simple ingredients, perfectly proportioned in quantity and size, resulting in a balanced accompaniment to the Octopus. - Truffle Fries: Unique texture and stand out flavor profile. Distinct crisp exterior without a hint of excess oil, the truffle and salt are front and center. The interior is light and fluffy, but the exterior crisp is thick and provides a clean platform for the garlic aioli.
It is a wonderful place for dinner, great views, be aware that if you suffer from vertigo the revolving restaurant may cause you to be dizzy, I was able to adapt within a couple minutes. We were a big group so we had to wait for all our food to be ready at once, I'm sure that for a smaller group service would be faster. The appetizers were really good, for my main course, I had the salmon, which was a great choice, I really enjoyed it.
It's beautiful. The service was top notch & the food was excellent. We had a lovely evening & a great dinner!
I was blown away by the views and the food was excellent. Short rib sliders and lamb chops with broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes were both amazing. The lamb was very tender and cooked perfectly. The desert was just ok but I was full anyway.
First time. Fantastic space, great decoration, amazing views. Rotating floor, a big surprise. Very nice atmosphere. Good food and drinks. Fairly priced. Very friendly staff. It would have been a perfect evening should our server had made a bigger deal of our daughter’s 18th Birthday… We did mention it from the start and he said he would take photos of all of us when our table passed by the best views… (instead of us attempting selfies). Unfortunately, our server forgot and when finished and ready to leave, our table was positioned away from the windows and views and the restaurant was full and busy thus very tricky to attempt to take a nice group photo with a perfect view. We shall come back, for sure, with lessons learned.
View: amazing. Service has been good both times there. Rotating floor so everyone gets a view. Drinks are good. The evening thyme is really good. All of the food in this review was good… except the spinach was slightly watery and lacked a little flavor. The wings were ok. I feel they were overcooked and lacked flavor but the dipping sauce made it better. The fries, pork chop and pizza were the best. Jan 2024
The view is fantastic. Service was great, and so was our food, although we only had tapas and drinks. I’m easily nauseated and didn’t feel sick at all with the movement. We both thought the brie in the charcuterie was some of the best we’ve ever had!
Wow! The views here are amazing at the only rotating restaurant in the Washington DC area- actually located in Arlington, Virginia. The food and service are excellent. It’s at the very top of the DoubleTree hotel.
Amazing 360 degree bird’s eye views of the U.S. Capital, Washington Monument and so much more. Great food and great service. It was a fun and welcomed experience in a very relaxing atmosphere. If you want to get dressed up, you can. But if you want to relax and enjoy dressing in a more casual attire, you can. Everyone is welcome, including families and multi generational gatherings. My husband ordered their ribeye special that was absolutely delicious. It was seasoned to perfection and very tender. That’s what my husband ordered and I totally enjoyed every taste he shared with me. I personally ordered the Skydome Specialty Salad with Salmon. It was so yummy. However, the salmon was slightly overcooked but still very good. We are not drinkers. So when they offered two of their nonalcoholic drinks as an option, that was perfect and the one selected with mango juice and ginger beer was delicious. Getting to the restaurant is a little confusing for the first time. It is located in the Double Tree Hotel. You have to take the elevator to the 14th floor then transition to another elevator (with a blue door). Would we go again? Yes! It is a great place to take visitors for a unique and fun experience.
Once parked, you have to go up 2 different elevators to get here. Once here the views were amazing! We ordered a few drinks, they had local drinks too. We ordered buffalo hummus which came with various breads and pretzel bun. Also got a Caesar salad which was awesome, just could've used a little more dressing. Main course we ordered sauteed gnocchi with shrimp and I got the bacon cheeseburger with sauteed onion jam. Could not fit in any dessert. The restaurant rotates about 1.5 times when we started til we left. The views are awesome and you can see all the monuments, Arlington, pentagon etc. The staff very attentive, nice and helpful. The manager helped us get another reservation for this weekend and can't wait! Parking is comped as well when we got our check.
We wanted to go to this restaurant as soon as we heard about it, then COVID shut it down. Once we heard it was re-opening we jumped at the chance to get reservations. We did our research and saw that Sky Dome was getting terrible reviews from 'Bad Food' to 'Inconsistent long wait times.' We decided to go and find out for ourselves. We went expecting to just get drinks and enjoy the views. When we arrived the host was very polite and attentive and sat us immediately. Our server was Rupayan and he was at our table in less than 2 minutes asking what kind of water we would like. He came back with our waters quickly and we ordered our first round of drinks. When he left to get our drinks, my wife and I talked and we both decided that we really liked the atmosphere and the view so why don't we just try one item on the menu and see how it is and order more if it is good. We ordered the Truffle Mushroom Pizza, it was very good. Then we decided to try the Gnocchi, the wings and the truffle fries along with a few other cocktails. The food was great, the cocktails were delicious, service was quick and timely, and atmosphere/views were spectacular. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food was prepared fresh so it took a little longer to be served, but it was delicious. The gnocchi was obviously freshly made in house. The atmosphere is fun and of course the views are breathtaking. Of course the restaurant is on the roof of the Hilton hotel and is a little difficult to find from inside the hotel, but the views are definitely worth it!
This was my first time on a spinning restaurant, It was a 1 of life time experience. Since the place was elegant and romantic, it was perfect for my date night. The service was great and really fast. We ordered the grilled octopus 🐙 as appetizers or “tapas” thats how they call it, the flavor and the tenderness was amazing. We also ordered some cocktails 🍸 which weren’t that great because of the flavor. The food on the other hand, was 10 out of 10. We order a Fillet Mignon which was melting 🫠 in my mouth. The best part of the restaurant is the view; from the 15th floor Skydome spinning restaurant you are able to see a 360 view of Washington, the Pentagon and the Airport strip which has airplanes landing every few minutes. Lastly there is only 1 restroom in the penthouse, but you can go down 1 floor to the 14th, there you will find more restrooms and even more private. Please do not forget to validate your parking ticket 🎫 before you leave so you don’t pay the $26 fee
My wonderful and amazing wife brought me here for my birthday and it was amazing. Great food and drinks. The view are amazing. I was very happy with the service
Thankfully when I arrived they were able to seat my party of 2 without a reservation. Typically, you would need one. The view was pretty awesome. The platform the tables sits on rotates very slowly, so you get a new view every few minutes. The food was pretty great! I had the only burger on the menu. I will say the "onion balsamic marmalade" was not "marmalade" it was just large chunks of onion soaked/pickled in balsamic vinegar with a tiny bit of sauce. Tasted great nonetheless!
This experience was fun! I did appreciate them taking my drink back when I do not like it and provided me a different drink. The Brussel sprouts were good and the pecans were an interesting touch. The shrimp pasta was good. The vegetables on the side of the chicken were just three tiny pieces - wish there was more. The cheesecake was good.
I went to Skydome for my birthday and overall had a good experience. The food was good and the atmosphere was amazing the views alone make it worth visiting. I also really appreciated that they validate parking, which is super convenient. The only downside for me was the service. I waited 10 minutes for my table even with my reservation. Also, I had a later reservation at 8:30, and maybe that played a part, but my server was pretty neglectful when I finally sat down . I had to keep waving her down just to get attention, which took away from the experience a bit. That said, I still really liked the place and would come back, especially for the atmosphere and the view.
Overall a great restaurant! Wonderful view all the way around the restaurant. You don’t even realize that you are rotating. Only downfall… there was an issue with the air so it wasn’t cool in there but it was tolerable.
Recently dined at the SkyDome restaurant in Arlington, Virginia. The views of this place is nothing short of spectacular we were seated towards the window so we really got to take in the experience and the gorgeous views. BE WARNED you will feel a little dizzy as it spins throughout the room. We started off with some of the starters the chicken wings and the fries the chicken wings were very good but when we tried to order some more we were told they had run out even though they opened an hour after we arrived. The fries were great overpriced but still great. The crab dip was also a great item to have. Overall the views are amazing as well as the atmosphere.
Skydome is a slightly hidden gem of a view of downtown DC and Arlington. Getting there requires following an almost yellow brick road in the Double Tree hotel, but the staff had no problem pointing us in the right direction and mentioning you have to change elevators at a certain level. We got there in time for our reservation, highly recommend a reservation. Drink menu is fantastic. Food menu decent. The prices reflect the elevated environment. Overall, the staff was great and I would come back for drinks and the view. Thanks!
First time coming here after hearing about it. The view is excellent for sure as the whole thing revolves around to give you a great panoramic view of downtown DC. Now, they should work on the food, the menu for me is limited because for a place like this one, I would like to have choices. It is difficult to get a reservation here because everyone wants to have the experience of a revolving restaurant scene. A party of more than 3 may get you a spot quicker than one of 2.
A revolving restaurant with stunning views during dinner sounded like a fantastic idea, but unfortunately, the food and service did not meet expectations. Despite this, the experience was unforgettable. If the restaurant improves its service and food quality, it could become an ideal spot for a romantic dinner.
The ambiance and view were nice. The food was just okay. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Actually, all the staff we encountered were. The only real con is the women's restroom located on another floor. Maybe more food selections as well.
I would rate this restaurant a 4.5 / 5. Took my wife on a date and the view was amazing. Her pasta was overcooked (she’s Italian) my steak was pretty good. Overall very nice romantic experience.
The food was tasty, but the portions were not large. Chef Ramsey would be proud because there was not a lot of food leaving out, lol. The view was nice but more so of neighboring buildings and inside people's homes.
Last night, me and my family of four (2 children). Dined at Skydome restaurant in Arlington VA for the first time I made reservations a month out because that was the next available time slot. So we went there for a little late Father’s Day dinner. It was a cute restaurant you do have to park in the parking garage of the hotel go upone elevator and then another to get to the restaurant the restaurant isn’t that big as roughly around maybe 20-30 tables and a small bar that looks to seat about four or five people. Our reservation was made for Tuesday, June 20 at 7:30 PM. We arrived at exactly 7:28pm the host, greeted us immediately and was ready to seat us immediately upon arrival I did have to ask him to double check for a window seat because even if you make reservations and ask for window seat, it is first come first serve we were originally told there were no window seats available, but he was kind enough to double check and one was available just needed to be cleaned off. The restaurant itself was pretty cute little intimate spot. The floor did rotate around very slowly not to fast but by the time we finished close to nine we had made it around the restaurant twice I’ve heard a lot of people in the comments, say the place is overrated, I do feel that as well but it was very nice to experience it for the first time I enjoyed the view. My kids really enjoyed watching the planes takeoff from the airport close by very nice and lit up at night.the food is pricey. Wasn’t amazing but wasn’t bad. They don’t have much choices for kids. They offer cheese and pepperoni pizza, and wings that are part of the appetizer. My kids were fine because they enjoy pizza. Price of the pizza was definitely overrated. It was like a small personal pizza with about six slices that was $22 , we did order a few things we got the cheese and charcuterie board, and wings for appetizer. I got a salad w/ chicken my date got pork chops w/ truffle fries and side mashed potatoes.overall was ok. Not sure if we’ll go back. It was a nice first experience, though. I did upload a picture of our check at the end to give you an idea of how their prices look. Please excuse some of the pictures with the view my daughter insisted on taking them. :)
This is such a quaint restaurant with a beautiful ambiance. Loved the revolving views of the Potomac, the Pentagon and could see the White House and Washington Memorial in the distance. I enjoyed my burger and sweet potato fries. I appreciated the service; I do recommend making a reservation!
Atmosphere 9/10: Can't beat the views and the fact that you spin a around the room is amazing (48min for each rotation), make sure to put a reservation in to be by the windows. The team here is very nice and punctual. Great place for a date night. Food 8.5/10: Very tasty and presentation was wonderful, portions are not on the hefty side so make sure to have either appetizers or desserts if you like to eat Drinks 9.5/10: Be careful because a few can sneak up on you if you're a lightweight. I'd recommend the Passion Fruit Mule
It was okay. The place is nice, specifically because of the view. Very picturesque at night time as well. I might have enjoyed the view more than my wife. The drinks were good we both tried a different margarita and they were great. The food was just okay, nothing to write about honestly. Because its at the top, when you order the food it has to be delivered by elevator from the kitchen so it makes sense why they menu was so limited. We had the burger and the charcuterie board the burger was good. I think if they expanded the menu a little more it would be better. None the less really nice spot. I think its better for drinks and vibes. It was a cool seeing the whole place rotate. Its slow enough for you to barely notice in my video. I enjoyed the background music too. Think Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson etc. It was a Sunday nigh t so parking was free since the gate was up so that was nice.
The place was beautiful, the decor was simple but delightful. The food was a bit expensive, but it was delicious and with the staff, the atmosphere was complete. The staffs service was definitely worth of praise. The feeling of walking into a space ship that was converted into a restaurant, was otherworldly. The realization that it was still trying to take off, priceless. Also caused me to lose my dinner. Let me explain, the restaurant is shaped like an old school spaceship, you know, flying saucer, but this one has windows. Because of that, you may get a great view or be starting at the bar. Now to remedy this seating issue the restaurant decided to make the main dinning floor into a Lazy Susan, one that rotates at roughly 1 inch every 1.5-2 seconds. This is a great way to give everyone a chance to see all the views, but even while writing this I am still slightly reeling as I bring it back to mind. Definitely a memorable experience to say the least.
The menu is very limited and not many good options. The view was really nice and the decoration was welcoming. I ended up just getting some drinks and eating somewhere else- the prices were just not worth what they were offering. Overall a nice experience but I would not come back.
While the concept of a rotating restaurant with awesome views of DC is awesome, at the end of the day it's a restaurant and the basic thing that they need to do is serve good food and provide quality service. They lacked both. We ordered an appetizer (burrata), 2 entrees (impossible burger with fries and mushroom truffle pizza) and 2 desserts. The pizza was amazing, the fries were terrible and everything else was in between. However, the drinks were pretty awesome. The service was not great. The server didn't even bother to refill the water or bring silverware with the desserts or take the dishes when the food was done. Just not the kinda service you'd expect at a nice restaurant. So yes you might get lucky and eat something nice with a view or just be disappointed like we were!
The decor is really dated. People were nice. The reviews said the service was slow was very accurate. The food, at best, was mediocre. Definitely overpriced.
My girlfriend and I visited this spot for a date night after seeing it on social media. The atmosphere was definitely the highlight—beautiful views of D.C. from the top, and the rotating dining room added a cool touch, even though we didn’t get a window seat. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the ambiance. The presentation was nice, but the flavors fell flat. The chicken wings were underseasoned, and the pasta tasted frozen—like it had freezer burn. I couldn’t even finish it. I also ordered a mule that came in an extremely small glass (I could wrap my whole hand around it) and it was $13. The grilled octopus appetizer was the best thing we tried, but $26 for a single tail felt way overpriced—even for D.C. The service was friendly and professional, but overall the food and drinks didn’t justify the cost. Glad we tried it for the view and experience, but we’d probably choose another spot next time for better value and quality.
The food was not good. Poor selection and poor quality. You are basically paying for the view. I ordered the salmon, which was small, dry, and not flavorful. They put on the same plate as my salad and brought it all at once. Staff did not seem to keep up with the pace of the room. Anyone who thinks the food was good here doesn't know quality dining.
This is the *new* restaurant, recently opened after the pandemic. Food was average at best. The charcuterie board came with bread that's super stale. Toasted, yes, but stale. Like several days old. It was painful to chew - literally painful, not figuratively. Wine was served warm, not a great experience. There was 1 server working the entire place - that was 17 tables when we were there. She did a great job, but her management put her in a tough spot, and as a result, service was very slow. Hummus tasted as much as authentic hummus as a burger tastes like sushi. Why 2 stars, not 1? The views are great. The restaurant rotates slowly and does a full turn every 45 minutes or so with great views of the Capitol, the Washington Monument, and the rest of DC. Also, the menu is nowhere to be found online, not even on their own website, so I took a photo in case others are curious.
Come for the view, NOT the food! The views alone are incredible! We went for dinner at sunset and the sights overlooking D.C. were absolutely worth it. But the food… not so much. We had the crab dip (tasted reheated), a burger, and two ribeyes. The steaks were overcooked, but honestly, that’s not even the chef’s fault — they were the skinniest $50 ribeyes I’ve ever seen. I’ve had pancakes thicker than these steaks. No real seasoning either, which didn’t help. Bottom line: the view is a 10/10, but the food is a 3/10. My advice? Come for a drink, enjoy the sunset over D.C., and then go grab dinner somewhere else.
The food was tasteless, no seasoning on any of it. The steak was rare and they didn’t have medium well nor well, the chicken sausages taste like all the seasoning had been boiled out of it. Most of the food was cold and it took a ridiculous amount of time to bring the food from downstairs up to the 14th floor. I wanted to leave as soon as I sat down. The buffet area looked low budget, no table cloths nor greenery…the buffet was not worth 80.00 a person and 20% gratuity. This was a $15.00 a plate, meal. Hair was in my plate in two different areas. This was a horrible experience. Save your time, energy and money. Go somewhere else. This place needs to be shut down. So disgusting, misleading and disappointing. IHOP and Golden Corral is better and the last time I went to one of those restaurants was about twenty years ago.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience warrants one. After extensive international travel, my husband and I checked in late and were encouraged by the hotel front desk to visit the SkyDome rooftop for a late-night DJ and cocktail event. The venue itself was nearly empty, yet service was extremely slow and disorganized. We had to flag down multiple servers and eventually approach the bar ourselves to receive service. Before ordering, I carefully reviewed the menu. The only gratuity disclosure stated that a 20% gratuity applies to parties of six or more. We were a party of two. Despite this, an automatic gratuity was added to our bill with no written or verbal disclosure beforehand. When I questioned the charge, management could not point to any written policy and instead referenced “DC restaurant practices,” even though this hotel is located in Arlington, Virginia. The explanation did not address the lack of disclosure. Attempts to resolve the issue were handled poorly. Management responses were inconsistent, and escalation was difficult. Despite repeated requests, there was no Manager on Duty or senior management available during our stay, and follow-up was delayed until after checkout. The issue here is not the cost, it’s transparency, professionalism, and how concerns are handled. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below expectations for a Hilton property.
Such a let down. Waited nearly 2 hrs, while seated at the table with family, for 2 $58 ribeyes, 1 salmon, and 1 order of chicken tenders and fries. Water was refreshed once. Food came out cold and ribeyes over cooked and paper thin. We made this reservation months in advance and was so looking forward to an awesome meal to close out our stay; left with good views of DC and an empty stomach. Avoid until they get new management and a competent kitchen. McDonald’s would have been better on this rooftop. Would give zero stars if that was an option. Food was refunded.
