We’ve never had a single dish we didn’t love at The Henry on 12 South. Truly everything is just delicious. Our favorites are the Korean Prime Skirt Steak and the Harvest Bowl. Literally all the appetizers are good as well which is so rare! Plus the service is just as exceptional as the food. We’ve had fantastic experiences with our server, Katie, who is always warm and attentive, and the manager, Gabby, was incredibly kind to us on our last visit. When a restaurant nails both food and service, you keep coming back — so we do. If you’re looking for a delicious spot to add to your list, The Henry should be at the top.
This is the best new restaurant to hit 12South in like, forever. It is exactly what we needed. It is somehow the largest scale space in 12 South, but broken in to sections which make it feel cozy. The seats are comfortable to sit in. I repeat, the chairs and booths posh. It sounds silly, but it makes a difference. When “fancy” restaurants in Nashville seat me on a painted plywood bench, it kills my enthusiasm…just a little. The menu has lots of interesting food and cocktails and it all arrives looking amazing. We have been twice now and I can’t wait to go back again. The short rib dumplings are my favorite, but we haven’t tried everything yet!
Our dinner experience was fantastic. My husband and I are both vegan, and the assistant general manager, Gabby, spoke with the executive chef, Helen Mora, who then created a delicious custom pasta dish for us. The entire experience, from the initial greeting to our waiter to the ambiance was above what we expected. We live in 12S and this was our first visit to The Henry. This will definitely be our new go-to when dining out with friends!
Julia is the best! I dine here frequently and every single thing on the menu is absolutely incredible! There is nothing you could order that isn’t great. Whether it’s dinner, lunch or brunch! Julia is one of the best servers there. She is extremely attentive, very kind and overall made the experience very special for my mother‘s birthday! Already loved this restaurant, but Julia made us love it even more!
YES TO THE HENRY! Went last month with two friends. We went small plates style, which is always my preference. Even if the restaurant isn’t set up that way, The Henry made it easy. Ordering a mix of starters and mains and sharing everything made the night. Ryan was our server, and he was in training. You’d never know it. He handled the table like a pro and owned that wine key like a 80-year-old drunk. We ordered everything up front, and the pacing was perfect. Each course came out at the right time, and everything hit. I usually skip food recommendations from servers because you never really know what they like, but this time everything was excellent. Against my better judgment, I have to say it...all was incredible. We ordered eight or nine dishes. The brussels, the short rib wontons, and the mini cake dessert were especially standouts. The vibe was great if you can appreciate natural noise from a busy crowd. I didn’t hit the bar downstairs, but should have. I think a pre-dinner drink there is the move. Scores: • Food: 9/10 • Service: 9/10 • Vibe: 8/10 • Location: 9/10 • X Factor: 8/10 Minor drawback: our table for three was a little tight. Not uncomfortable, just close to the neighbors. But not crazy, didn't feel like we were in each other's business. Will definitely go back. 8/10 overall. Strong recommend.
Finally made my way to The Henry after meeting one of the chefs out and about who piqued my interest about the place. Wow, great bar with a wide selection of bourbons and fantastic craft cocktails. The food was outstanding. Had a sushi appetizer followed by the skirt steak. Special kudos to Nick Young, the chef who persuaded me to go, came out from the kitchen to chat briefly and then had his crew deliver delicious flavors and textures. Liked it so much, already booked a table for 4 next Friday! This place could be my new go-to in 12 South.
My wife and I heard about their opening back in September and we had planned to visit since then. We were here Sunday around noon and the restaurant was pretty busy. There was no line however so we got a table right away. In my opinion, the inside is spacious, tables are not too close too each other. Our table was at the outdoor seating area but it is covered, which was good and cozy as that day was cold and windy. In terms of food and drinks, we went with our waitress’ recommendation: - Har & Happy: Amber ale, light, citrusy and refreshing. We generally prefer cider or light beer so it was perfect for us. - Short Rib Potstickers: One of their signature appetizers and we love potstickers. The exterior was crispy and the wrapper was chewy. The ribs were marinated perfectly - juicy and tender. The sauce at the bottom was also pretty good - sweet and not salty. - Bolognese: The dish was served with a slice of garlic bread. We liked the meat sauce - creamy and lots of flavor. The garlic bread was well-toasted, crunchy with bountiful garlic flavor. The pasta was well cooked too. Overall, we liked all the dishes and will definitely come back for more. We think it is a good place for friends and family to hang out together, whether for breakfast/brunch (they open at 8 am), lunch or dinner
Oh my gosh. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. My parents and I came to Nashville for vacation and this meal was absolutely amazing. The drinks are so delicious and unique, and the hot honey chicken sandwich was so amazing. Our waitress Mandy was beyond sweet and so helpful with recommending food to order. We will absolutely be coming back next time we’re in Nashville💕
We had an amazing Christmas Eve lunch! The short rib potstickers, the caviar and skirt steak were all amazing! Our Old fashioned was excellent! The pour definitely made a nice drink! Finished with Fudge Pie! Will return!
A friend and I came in last minute for drinks and a light bite after the hockey game. Atmosphere 10/10 Cocktails were amazing we had a smoked pineapple margarita and an espresso martini. The star of the show was the sushi. Everything was exceptionally fresh. Hands down the best California roll I’ve ever had. If you haven’t been yet go check it out you won’t be disappointed
Had such a great time at The Henry Nashville! The vibe is beautiful, classy but relaxed, perfect for lunch, brunch, or a casual dinner. The service was top-notch; everyone was super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious — you can really tell they care about presentation and flavor. Whether you’re just grabbing coffee or sitting down for a full meal, this spot has that perfect mix of energy and comfort. Definitely one of my favorite Nashville go-tos now!
Man, what a fantastic time! Got there at 8am for a coffee and ended up staying for a few hours. Super cool decor, great whiskey selection, liked all the staff. Emma was a great barista/bartender/server. The whole thing is really cool, but the upstairs has been very well executed and is beautiful. Love the stairwell wallpaper. Had a really enjoyable time, super happy it exists; can't wait to return.
We came in for my birthday and had the salmon caviar app, the filet mignon, the tuna, and the short rib. We sat at the upstairs bar. I was indecisive and they were so kind and patient with me. Absolutely fabulous service. The male bartender with dark hair (I can't remember his name) was easily one of the best servers we've had in a very long time. We'll be back again for sure.
A Truly Delightful Dining Experience – Twice! I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant twice within a week, and both experiences were absolutely outstanding. My first visit was solo, and I was immediately impressed by the warm and polite service. The waiter, who was both knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, recommended a fresh salad with strawberries and watermelon topped with Scottish salmon – and it was phenomenal. The fruits and veggies were incredibly fresh, and the dressing brought all the flavors together perfectly. It was a refreshing, flavorful dish that left a lasting impression. I enjoyed it so much that I booked a table for later that week to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We ordered the same salad, and once again, it was amazing – fresh, vibrant, and so delicious that we couldn't stop talking about it. I had also informed the staff ahead of time that I wanted to surprise my friend, and they brought out a molten butter cake with ice cream and syrup, complete with a candle. The cake was rich and comforting, beautifully balanced after the light and fresh salad. We paired our meal with peach mimosas, another excellent recommendation from our attentive waiter. The drink was light, fruity, and perfectly complemented our dishes. Across both visits, the service stood out – every staff member was kind, helpful, and truly made us feel welcome. And the live music… it was the final magical touch. Beautiful voices accompanied by the guitar played in the background, creating the perfect ambiance for a relaxed and joyful meal. Highly recommend this place for its incredible food, attentive service, and lovely atmosphere. Thank you to the whole team for making both visits so special! We will be back very soon.
The Henry is my absolute favorite spot to eat in 12 South. Just thinking of the seared tuna chop salad makes me hungry. And they have one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. If the weather is nice, request seating on the patio because the vibe is whimsical and fun.
From the appetizers to the desserts, this was one of the best meals my neighbors and I have had in 12th S--and in Nashville! The menu was an expertly planned potpourri of options, with unique and flavorful twists on standard favorites that elevated the dishes well beyond basic upscale fare. And our server, Tianna, handled our group and our orders beautifully. She was extremely knowledgeable about the entire food and beverage menus, upbeat and personable, and made sure to double check for any allergies before recommending dishes. Our entire group unanimously agreed we will be back regularly, and we will always put in a request to have Tianna as our server.
Stopped in for lunch, sat at the bar. Jack was an excellent, attentive, knowledgeable bartender. I ordered the Short Rib potstickers and they were SO good. (The spicy tuna crispy rice would have been my first choice, but I had that last night.) Also would recommend the chicken enchilada soup, the French dip, club sandwich and Brussel sprouts. They have several salad options, sushi options, appetizers and entrees. A larger menu at dinner. They have an extensive Bourbon selection as well. Definitely recommend. It was a Monday at 12:30, so I was able to walk in, but definitely would need reservations for dinner/weekends.
The Henry in Nashville is the perfect mix of upscale and laid-back. The Burgundy Bar is absolutely gorgeous, and the whole place has this effortlessly stylish vibe that fits right into the 12 South neighborhood. The strip is a must. The menu has a fun Asian influence, which I totally appreciated. Oysters? A must. So fresh. The crab cake was good and the rainbow roll was just as pretty as it was delicious. The real star for me? The shrimp toasts. Wow. I could eat those every day. Service was fantastic, super quick but never rushed.
The Henry never disappoints. I absolutely loved my meal here. The flavor of the food was spectacular. The vibe was great and we had a wonderful time.
Super cute place. Way bigger than I thought. Theres a downstairs that’s first come first serve. Then there’s upstairs where you can wait to be seated. We went around 9pm downstairs was full so we ate upstairs only waited like 10min to be seated. We ordered the rotisserie dish came with vegetables, the harvest bowl( vegan), truffle fries and red sangria. Everything was delicious!! Our waitress was great! We had a good time. Definitely going back to try other items.
The wait to get in was insane, and it was super packed, so we definitely had to wait a bit for our food. But once it arrived - totally worth it! The truffle fries hit the spot perfectly, and the food overall was amazing. Also, I have to say, I absolutely loved the spritz! So refreshing and well-balanced. If you’re prepared for a bit of a wait, the experience is definitely worth it. I’d come back again for those fries and drinks alone! 🍟❤️
The food, the wine, and the service were all beyond exceptional. I’ve been to Nashville a couple times now, and The Henry has quickly become a staple on my visits. Everything we ordered was great, but the sushi (especially the spicy tuna) and the Korean skirt steak were standouts. I was encouraged to try the steak “extra spicy,” and it was perfect with the added heat. Big thanks to Marni, our server, and Jack behind the bar for taking such good care of us. Also, sincere appreciation to the kitchen staff. There isn’t a single item I’ve tried here that wasn’t delicious. If you’re looking for an upscale-casual dinner with a lot of strong options, The Henry is the place.
So grateful we took the recommendation of a Nashville local for a business dinner. The food and drinks were delicious. I highly recommend the Scottish salmon, which was light yet filling. If you’re planning to visit, I’d recommend placing a reservation because it’s a popular spot starting around 5:30pm. Street or valet parking seemed like the only options.
My husband and I recently stayed at the Gilmore and finally got to try The Henry—it did not disappoint! My husband had the Egg White Turkey Omelette and a coffee called The Butcher—he loved both. I enjoyed an everything bagel with fresh fruit, a glass of orange juice, and a coffee to go called The Dropout, which was absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be returning the next time we’re in town!
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit today at The Henley The grilled shrimp and short rib pot stickers were very good. The burger was cooked evenly but my only suggestion would be more whole fries vs short/bits of fries A little loud but it was very busy for brunch, but once 230/3p came about, many people had left and the noise level was balanced. *one tip I’d share is to not do your parking until you scan the QR code at the hostess station*
I can’t say enough about this restaurant. The atmosphere was incredible, the service was top notch, the drinks were the smoothest you’ll ever have, and the food was divine. Best restaurant experience I’ve had in Nashville and I’ve been here for 35 years. A must try!
My friend and I stopped in for dessert. Bartender was engaging and attentive. Dessert was fabulous. Will be going back to try the regular menu.
Grace, our waitress, was a delight to interact with and gave great recommendations for our brunch. The live music added to the experience, with a country/rock style that perfectly complemented the atmosphere. We opted to sit on the rooftop, and the sunshine definitely made everything taste better. I had the eggs Benedict, and the house-made English muffin was outstanding. The sauce was light, but the muffin really brought the dish together. My sister went with the breakfast sandwich, and the buttery brioche bun was perfectly done. The French toast had just the right level of sweetness, with delicious cream cheese and fruit topping. All in all, it’s a great spot to relax, enjoy good food, and listen to live music while having brunch.

We absolutely LOVED the Henry. It was our anniversary and every single staff member made us feel so special! The service & food was phenomenal! Our experience was unforgettable I could not recommend this place enough. Thank you!!

What a pleasant evening we had at the Henry. 5 star food and 5 star service. Sitting out on the patio, with fans blowing was perfection. I am now a happy and content Australian. Thank you server Alec
Since being diagnosed with Celiac, my wife and I have had plenty of decent or "good" meals, but this was the first meal in years that truly wowed us. We were so lucky to be in Baylee’s section. She was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating with my gluten allergy, knowing the menu inside and out. Following her recommendation, we started with the Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice. It was easily the best GF dish I’ve ever had—the flavors of the cilantro, Thai red pepper, and sweet soy sauce were so perfect I almost didn't want to share the 5 pieces with my wife! I followed it with the Korean Prime Skirt Steak, which was delicious, though I still couldn't stop talking about that tuna. When we found out there weren't GF dessert options, they kindly let us order a second round of the Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice to end the meal. Even my wife (who isn't strictly GF) said it was the best sushi roll she’s ever had. Between the incredible food and the top-tier service from Baylee, it was an absolute 10/10. We’ll definitely be back!
The Henry is fantastic. The atmosphere is stylish but relaxed and welcoming, and the service was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent—especially the sushi and seafood, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The short rib potstickers were a standout and absolutely delicious. Everything about the experience felt polished and enjoyable, and I’ll definitely be back.

The ambiance is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Everything seemed to take forever, including the drinks. They kept saying they were backed up. The cocktails were delicious, try the espresso martini. As for food, it was good, not great. Everything seemed to come out cool, not hot. Our waitress apologized quite a bit. The table didn't think the hot honey was really hot. The potstickers, which our waitress said everybody loves, fell flat. Perhaps it was an off day.
A moderately lighted upscale restaurant with a tiny full bar. It was fairly full and loud, even at 6:00 pm; reservations recommended. They did seat us early. The patio is covered, airy, and a delightful. Live music filled out the vibe. The menu is eclectic and the sushi is good. Caution, the crab meat in the Rainbow roll and the Cal Roll maybe spicy to some. The Grilled and Chilled shrimp was excellent. The wine list is short, but well curated. Service was very good. One of the handicapped stalls was partially blocked by the restaurant's trash can.
Very pleasant experience after the many ‘New American’ eateries. The menu has variety and the drinks menu is impressive. Nice, original cocktails as well. I strongly recommend the Ahi Tuna. My husband and I shared a Chocolate Mud Pie, which was delicious but huge.

Gluten free friends, there are a lot of options for you. The Brussels appetizer was very good. I ordered the roasted chicken, as seen in the attached photo, and it was very good. However, as others have said, the wait for food is long. Be prepared to settle in and wait. We were glad we ordered the app. My husband ordered the Ahi Tuna and it was very gingery. It seemed off but we thought that's just how they prepare it. Well, two hours later, he got sick and two days later is still feeling the effects. Our server was very good and we held none of the above against her. It's also a nice atmosphere with the upstairs open air seating.
My husband and I visited during a mini-vacation and had brunch reservations on New Year’s Day. When we arrived, there were three bartenders downstairs talking with each other and only two tables occupied (about four guests total). We were not greeted or acknowledged, and there was no signage indicating whether we should seat ourselves. After waiting, we had to approach the bar and interrupt their conversation to ask what to do. Once seated, we found the menu to be uninspired and lacking creativity. We ordered a yogurt parfait and avocado toast, both of which were extremely bland. The presentation on the parfait was beautiful. There was also no salt or pepper on the table to season the food. Neither of us ate more than a quarter of our meal, and no one ever checked in to ask how the food was. Several side items we ordered never arrived. After waiting more than 30 minutes following the delivery of our food, we canceled those items and asked for them to be removed from the bill. Service throughout the meal was poor—we had to get up twice to request drink refills and again to ask for silverware several minutes after our food arrived. Items we ordered were also not delivered to our table or the table in front of us. To make matters worse, there were French fries left on the seating from the night before, suggesting the area had not been properly cleaned. I hesitated to write this review, but the overall experience—from service to food quality to cleanliness—was disappointing enough that I feel others should be aware
Sadly, I found the Henry somewhat mediocre overall. Nice ambience and service but the menu was OK. A member of our party ordered a chicken dish but only ate half and ended up throwing the rest away. Not seasoned very well and overcooked. Drink prices were just short of obscene. They priced like a Manhattan bar. They charged $12 to add a shot of Baileys to an espresso martini. This is a normal variation at most fine restaurants. I had drinks at another known Nashvill restaurant at 75% of the price.
Terrible for a first date at 8pm. Restaurant is super loud. Service was great. Restaurant is beautiful. Honestly, I did not enjoy the food. I got the salmon. The salmon was good however, the quinoa and potatoes it comes with ruined the dish. Please consider plating it a different way.
Recently visited The Henry around 5 PM, hoping to snag a table before the dinner rush, but we ended up with a 45+ minute wait. Since the restaurant just opened, last-minute reservations were unavailable—understandably so. We eventually found a spot on the 1st floor, which is first-come, first-served. The staff was very friendly and made sure we had drinks while we waited, which was a nice touch. For food, we started with sushi, but it was disappointing—not something I’d recommend. Good sushi is hard to come by in Nashville, and at $20 per roll, it felt overpriced, especially considering you can find better quality elsewhere for half the price. I ordered the truffle fries to share and Korean Prime Skirt Steak for my entree. The truffle fries were fantastic, easily the best part of the meal. However, the steak was unexpectedly very spicy with no mention of it on the menu. I could barely eat it. Our server noticed and kindly offered to bring something else but by then, I was already full from the fries and sushi. My partner had the Braised Short Rib, which he said was delicious and came in a generous portion. Overall, I can see the appeal of The Henry with its stylish decor, great ambiance, and attentive service. However, the food was hit-or-miss, and the long wait wasn’t quite worth it for what we got. If I return, I'll definitely try different dishes.
I expected better service. We arrived for Monday lunch without reservations, there were 4 parties ahead of us. We were greeted promptly. Our host walked us to a table. He was polite. Our waitress, Tia was very welcoming and made some excellent recommendations. The food was very flavorful. I had the KOREAN PRIME SKIRT STEAK and it was amazing. The steak sat on top of a bed of egg fried rice with bok choy and shiitake mushroom. My friend had BLACKENED SEABASS TACOS. We love a good SeaBass. The grilled pineapple salsa with cabbage was flavorful (we made sure to ask for some to go). We had waters with our meal. For dessert we enjoyed the MOLTEN BUTTER CAKE with caramel and a pretzel toffee center topped with vanilla ice cream. It was cold out, so we also enjoyed a Hazelnut decaf latte with Oat milk. The food was fantastic but the service was super slow, I can only assume they were understaffed in the kitchen. Our waitress was great (not her fault)! The manager was very involved on the floor talking with customers. The 3 star rating is because of the super slow service. If you’re looking for a relaxed, extended lunch The Henry is perfect. We will definitely visit again. Maybe today’s lunch service was a fluke.
It’s got a bar vibe with decent food. Our server was polite but slow and they sat us right in front of the musician so forget about any table conversations. It was meant to be a celebratory birthday dinner but the Henry fell short of our expectations.

First time trying, and just okay. They were about 25 minutes behind in seating for reservations. My salad came out with the entree, which is always a bit annoying to me. The short rib was pretty good, but the smashed potatoes were super strong, loaded with a pungent cheese (blue cheese, maybe). My partner had the chicken frites, and said the chicken was good, but fries were just okay. And word to the wise — do NOT valet. It was $30. We probably wouldn’t go back, but not a bad night.
The bloom is off the rose, for sure. I'm a neighborhood guys, so I've been by several times, mostly in the mornings for coffee and brunch, although I've had dinner a few times, too. When it first opened, the Henry lived up to the idea that the downstairs bar would be a coffee bar until 11 a.m. With a varied selection of pastries and an espresso machine, the downstairs bar quickly became a gathering place for neighborhood people and visitors from out of town staying nearby. Parents with youngsters in strollers often stopped by for a pastry and a to go coffee. It was well staffed, the baristas were very friendly, and the vibe was unique and very good. Fast forward a few months and, unfortunately, all of that has changed. The espresso machine in the downstairs bar has not been operational for at least 30 days, as a result of which a server has to run upstairs to ask someone to make a coffee, then return it downstairs lukewarm. Few staff are downstairs behind the bar. Service is average, certainly not as good as when the Henry first opened. The vibe is gone, at least in the mornings. I'm guessing it's a management/leadership issue, as in the past, staff appeared happy to be at the Henry, working, and now they're much more subdued, like they wish they were anywhere but at work. My guess is the Henry will shut down the brunch idea sooner rather than later, which is a shame. Squandered potential and bad business because people of stop by for coffee and brunch will undoubtedly return for dinner at some point in time. Postscript. I’ve been back for coffee and breakfast a couple of times. After briefly staffing the downstairs coffee bar again, this morning I saw that they’ve given up. Added bar stools where the pastry display case was and closed the coffee bar down. I sat, in silence, and had a lukewarm plate of scrambled eggs and avocado. The latte fill from upstairs was so poorly made I didn’t drink it. Brunch at The Henry? Don’t bother.
Food is just not great. I wish food was higher quality. Very, very slow getting water, coffee, food, check. Not nearly enough kitchen staff and/or serving staff. Not the kitchen staff's or servers' fault. Management needs to fix it. Very pretty and inviting space. Great to have live music. Great location.
My partner and I visited Henry’s briefly today expecting to celebrate a special occasion just for the two of us. We had reservation and were seated promptly. We needed a little time to look at the menu . After that the server ignored us and passed our table several times and totally avoided us. After about ten minutes we left. Both of decided we did not need to tolerate such rudeness. Needless to say there many other fine dining establishments in Nashville where we can spend our money and be treated with dignity.
