I just had dinner here and honestly, it was such a fun experience — the kind you don’t forget after just a mall meal! From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’re stepping into a playful jungle. The animatronic animals, jungle sounds, and periodic thunderstorm moments made the whole dinner feel more like an adventure than just eating out. It’s loud and energetic in all the right ways — perfect for a night in Bloomington with friends or family. The highlight for me was definitely the food. I ordered the tropical salmon and coconut shrimp, and both were excellent, with bold flavors that lived up to the tropical theme. The salmon was cooked perfectly — flaky, juicy, and paired with great sides that balanced the dish. The coconut shrimp was crisp, flavorful, and just the right mix of sweet and savory — a dish I’d happily order again. 🍤🐟 What really made the night 5-star wasn’t just the food, though (which was genuinely very good for this type of place), but the whole vibe — it’s upbeat, whimsical, and perfect if you’re in the mood for something different than your typical sit-down dinner. The staff were friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there, which always adds to the meal. Yes, it’s quirky and noisy — but that’s part of the charm. If you’re up for a memorable dinner with fun atmosphere and tasty tropical dishes, this spot delivers. 🍽️🌴 Would absolutely come back!

I’ve always heard good things about the Rainforest Cafe. Considering I’ve never gone, I had always wanted to dine in for the restaurant’s exotic and entertaining atmosphere. I’m personally not from Minnesota, and there’s no locations near me, so I knew it’d be on my bucket list for things to do. Walking up to the establishment, I was promptly given a ticket, and seated quickly, keep in mind I dined alone, so that likely played a role in my chances of getting a table on short notice. I took in a moment to admire the atmosphere, It wasn’t like anything I had seen for a restaurant. I actually felt I was in the jungle, with the essence of the trees, the moving animals, and the small details like the designs on the table. I also thought it was cool how the restaurant turned into the jungle every ten minutes… for what it’s worth, I truly felt comfortable dining here! My waiter Tanner, gave me excellent services, allowing me time to look over the menu, and giving suggestions on his go to meals. I ended up settling on the fish tacos and a Diet Coke… which took no more than 15 minutes to come out. The presentation was nice, the sides and main being divided. The fish tacos themselves were incredibly flavorful, the fish being rich, topped with pico and cilantro, there was also a lime with rice and beans to top the tacos with, they were excellent. Everything from the atmosphere to the service and the food exceeded my expectations. In the end, I paid $33, including a tip for the meal, which was well worth the experience. I hope to return to the rainforest cafe in the future.

Cool ambient and great sound effects, staff was super attentive and helpful being my first time there. The food they recommended was delicious. Suggest getting the Margarita in a tall glass.

What a unique place for lunch/dinner. As much as it’s advertised for families with children, adults can enjoy themselves as well. They have a fully stocked bar and a pretty expansive menu.

Kid friendly place with captivating ambiance and good food options. A variety of options for adults as well including vegetarians. The drinks menu is elaborate and some served in fancy themed cups that you get to keep. Definitely a relaxing experience after a day at the mall.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We visit the Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America twice a year for birthdays, and it’s always such a fun and memorable experience! The food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is so unique — there’s nothing else quite like it. Today, our waiter Lucas made the visit extra special. He was friendly, attentive, and enthusiastic — honestly the best server we’ve ever had there! His great attitude and energy made our celebration even better. Highly recommend Rainforest Cafe for a fun dining experience and ask for Lucas if you can — he’s fantastic! 🌿🐒✨

It's a must stop, it is expensive but everything was delicious. Kids for cool souvenir cups and my husband got a beer glass. Our food was great, my husband and I both got burgers. Kids for pizza, spaghetti and dinosaur nuggets. They have animals who move around and lights flicker and mimic a thunderstorm every fifteen minutes or so. We definitely wanna come back if we ever see this restaurant again!!!

James was very attentive and friendly. Our glasses were always filled, and the service was quick. Merry Christmas!

Suzanne was so sweet! We came from out of town and this was out first time going to a rainforest cafe, so she gave us plenty of extra time to look over the menu. The food was alright, but we mostly came there for the atmosphere and service and that was even better then we hoped! She also helped with pricing questions and cleaning the souvenir cups. Thank you Suzanne!

(This is a poem) hello helllo this is me, leaving a review for Cris and Anthony. One has a beard, and one does not. Service was good, the food was hot! they took care of us all, with speed and agility, offered limes for our guac, and proved their capability! There was never a time when we felt more bliss, than when we were served by Anthony and Cris! - three women

Always love visiting rainforest cafe! We were seated next to a delightful, elderly leopard animatronic that made great lunch company (and I affectionately named him Carl). Diego was also an attentive server. Thank you.

It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. The food was delicious and attractive. The service was great. The atmosphere was, of course, one of a kind! We had left and forgot our souvenir cups, when we went back a few minutes later, our tables were already cleaned off, which is good they're on the ball lol, fortunately for us, a nice staff member was able to retrieve our cup (those were $14 with the drink). We had a good memorable experience, thank you everyone!

Always a blast, came here for Valentine's Day just for kicks and giggles, and Tanner made it a wonderful experience for us. If you haven't been recently, this place is run smooth as butter. Definitely grab a reservation, but be ready for excellent and fast service.

A Five-Star Jungle Adventure! The Atmosphere is Unforgettable! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our recent visit to the Rainforest Cafe was an absolute delight and exceeded all expectations! While theme restaurants can sometimes be a mixed bag, this location delivered a truly wild and wonderful "performance" that captivated our entire family. You don't just eat here; you are fully immersed in a dynamic, exciting environment. The atmosphere deserves all five stars. Every 15-20 minutes, the entire restaurant comes alive with a simulated thunderstorm, complete with realistic lightning flashes and the sounds of roaring animals. The animatronic gorillas, elephants, and other wildlife scattered throughout the vibrant, green decor are fantastic and move like clockwork, much to the excitement of the children and adults alike. The ambiance really is the star of the show, providing a memorable backdrop to the meal. Our "safari guide" Bre M was also excellent, playing their part perfectly and being very attentive despite the bustling crowd. The food was hot, plentiful, and above average for this style of dining, but honestly, the performance of the ambiance is the main event. From the moment you walk in past Tracy the Talking Tree to the exciting gift shop on the way out, it's a seamless and enchanting experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique, fun, and energetic dining adventure!

Great experience for our friend from overseas. Food was pretty good; the chicken caprese sandwich was so.much.chicken. our server, Tere, was awesome and very friendly and helped make our experience so much better. We came at a very busy hour, but the food came decently fast. After we ate, it took a while, but they were preparing the birthday special with a sparkler on top, chocolate cake + brownies and ice cream. We all had a great time!

The Internet went down right when we were checking in for our reservation and the hostesses at the front didn't notice we didn't actually get checked in so we waited an additional 15 minutes after our reservation time and they only knew when I went up and asked again about it. A majority of them working the front were patient and calm but there were a couple people who were visibly irritated. We were seated inside near the gorillas which was just fine. My 3 year old wasn't a huge fan but that isn't the restaurants fault. Our waitress, Suzanne, was very kind and made sure he was going to be okay where we were seated. She was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. I had a seafood sampler of sorts. It was very bland fish and the shrimp was pretty spicy. My husband had a pasta that he really enjoyed. My son liked his Mac and cheese and fruit. The food came out quickly. It was overall a decent experience despite the hiccup in the beginning that was at no fault of the workers themselves.

Kaitlyn was the best server ever! She was very kind personable and awesome service. She never left a cup empty and always was attentive to our needs. Best damn restaurant to go to. Highly recommend and have Kaitlyn as our server again.

Our server Kaitlyn was absolutely wonderful :) It was our first time visiting and she was very prompt with the service and super friendly- even introduced herself as our safari guide which added a lot to the immersiveness of the place for us hehe. She encouraged us to explore the cafe too, which we took her up on and got some lovely pics - definitely would love to visit again with more family some time soon! :)) Thank you for the good time!

James our waiter went above and beyond! He used a line that was so great. We don’t feel rushed he was able to accommodate all orders. He recommended many great things as well. James was just top notch! Experience with him was amazing. I was extremely happy with it all - since we’re out of town. My nephew is very shy so when James offered singing but my nephew didn’t want to James was so respectful and just the sweetest soul! I am so glad to know this place has a very amazing person like James

Server Kaitlyn was absolutely wonderful during our visit yseterday! We had never been here before and the whole place felt magical and so much fun... my party and i are in our early 30's but we were definitely the ones overreacting with excitement in the establishment! And Kaitlyn was very sweet and accommodating of this! She even encouraged us to go see the moving animals up close and really enjoy everything. She was so kind and attentive and checked in on us multiple times and made us feel completely at home!! THE PERIODIC THUNDERSTORMS WERE AMAZING! The food was yummy too, it came out super fast. I got the Chicken Caprese and the strawb banana smoothie and it was delish. The restauarant interior is simply beautiful, too! Couldn't get over the ceiling design and the lighting changes during the thunderstorms. Can't wait to hopefully come back! THANK YOU KAITLYN, YOU ROCK!

My brother and I had a fun, nostalgic visit to the original Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America. While our food and drinks took a bit longer than we would’ve liked, and the lightning and thunder weren’t quite as loud or dramatic as we remembered, it was still very cool to experience the original location. The highlight of our night was our server, Travis — he was absolutely hilarious and kept us laughing through every interaction, from ordering to the final bill. It brought back great memories of going to the Rainforest Cafe at Towson Mall in Maryland when we were younger. We only wish there were more locations around the U.S. — we’d happily go again!

We visited Rainforest Cafe at September/25. The place is nice like you can see in the photos. The food is "normal", nothing different from a basic restaurant. The servers all was nice. The ambience is fun, but not that much I was expecting. The only thing is they only serve drinks in their on glasses, it's a good size, but I would prefer to receive the sealed can and have it opened and served in front of me. And they didn't have any plug inside the restaurant to charge my phone.

Lucas did an amazing job! He was quick to take our drink order and bring them. Gave us plenty of time to look the menu over and make our selections. I hope when we come back he’s our server again.

The Rainforest Café was a fun, themed experience—definitely something kids would enjoy. Every 18 minutes or so, the “jungle” comes alive with sounds and effects, which keeps things interesting. As for the food, everything was pretty standard. Nothing really stood out, but it was adequate for what it was. The nacho cheese and chips were just okay, and most of the meals felt pretty average. The standout was definitely the cheesecake—super tasty! The Key Lime pie, on the other hand, was just alright. Service was fine—nothing exceptional but nothing bad either. Orders came out fairly quickly, and the staff was polite. Overall, it’s a fun place to say you’ve been to, especially for the atmosphere, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Food was wonderful, expect to pay high prices though. Tried the chicken bruschetta and fish tacos. Got a frog cup with a icee drink, $11 and you keep the cup. Service was slow. Our toddler wasn’t a fan of the “rain storms” which included strobe/flashing lights and loud thunder. The decor is awesome as are the animatronics. Overall we would return!

Service was great for it being super busy. Lucas was our waiter and he was attentive, friendly and brought a great energy to the table! Happy we got a reservation on Open Table when we first got to the mall at 10am because when we arrived for our reservation at 11:30am, the wait was 45 minutes- 1hour. The atmosphere is fun, very dark to set the vibe so hopefully you have great eye sight. We got two kids meals and the appetizer sampler. The food was eh. Nothing we would have to come back for. My four star rating is for the overall experience, I think I’m very critical so this place might be perfect for others.

Our family recently visited the Mall of America, an establishment we had not frequented in over five years. The culinary experience was exceptional, and our family thoroughly enjoyed the cafe. The decorative elements captivated the children, who expressed considerable enthusiasm for them. While the staff demonstrated courtesy, their approach to cross-selling was notably assertive. In summary, the ambiance was remarkable, and the food quality was high. However, I do not recommend this establishment for dining. People come here to enjoy their meals and atmosphere, not to buy other packages..

Service was slow. Had to ask for refills. Never got extra napkins. Waited forever for the bill and to pay. The club sandwich was ok, my daughter in law had the lettuce wraps; again ok. My husband’s burger was very dry. My son’s chicken sandwich again so-so. I know you don’t go here for the food but at the prices you would think it would be better. My granddaughter like the dinosaur nuggets. I would only recommend if you’ve never been and want to see the rain storms.

We went to Rainforest Cafe last night to celebrate my daughter’s 9th birthday and had mixed feelings about our experience. The atmosphere was great, especially for kids. The jungle theme, wildlife, vines, and florals really create a fun environment. However, I did notice that a lot of the statues and ceiling décor were extremely dusty. I understand that with everything being so intricate and high up it’s probably difficult to clean, but it was noticeable. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. We ordered the queso and chips appetizer and the cheese was not good at all, it tasted very low quality. My mom ordered a chicken sandwich, which was just okay, but definitely not worth the price. I ordered the $40 shrimp platter, and for that price I expected much better. The shrimp were overcooked, the flavor was overly sweet, and the portion size was surprisingly small. It just didn’t feel like a $40 meal. I also ordered a drink that cost around $12 and it tasted cheap and poorly made. Overall, the atmosphere was fun, but the food quality and pricing did not match the experience. For what we paid, we expected much better. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we don’t plan on returning.

I was so excited to bring my family in for a Valentines dinner. The waitress was excellent. The food a different story. All of our plates were miss on thing or other. Me I didnt get my mashed potatoes. My daughter didnt get her steamed broccoli. And when she did. It was raw with melted cheese over it. No joke. My granddaughter didnt get her ice cream either. When we left the waitress asked if she could put our souvenir cup in a bag. But never came back with it. All in all a bad experience this time around.

Upon arrival, I already knew what this restaurant had to offer and told my daughter who may be on the spectrum what to expect. She insisted she still wanted to go here for her birthday lunch. As soon as we arrived, the host sat us down all the way back in the restaurant just like what happened last year away from everything where you can see the animals and the thunderstorm, and she placed us at a table that had trees dangling down on the table. My daughter has a sensory issue and she didn't want the trees touching her. I didn't want to make this a big ordeal, so I kindly ask our waitress if we could move seats, possibly in the middle of the rainforest. Thinking about it now, I felt like her response was really sarcastic. She proceeded to say "yeah of course sit wherever you want" gesturing her hands to the entire restaurant. I say that her response may have been sarcastic because they had just opened and I know that servers have certain areas in the restaurant so realistically, why would we sit wherever we want? Anyhow, we got an another spot My daughter was comfortable with sitting at. I then ordered myself the bacon burger, and my daughter a cheese pizza kids meal. I kind of feel like the waitress was really annoyed with us just by asking us for moving spots. We didn't really get a good positive attitude from her while ordering our meals. Now this is totally my fault - I never asked to have my burger well done which is how I like my food but the waitress also didn't ask how I would like my burger. So when the food came out, my burger was really pink in the middle and I ended up not even eating it. She also came out and gave my daughter macaroni kids meal instead of the pizza kids meal. I know for sure I asked for a kids pizza meal. It took a few minutes for her to walk past our table again, and when she did I kindly told her that I ordered my daughter a pizza kids meal, not macaroni. She gaslighted me telling me she's sure I told her macaroni. At this point, I was really annoyed with my server. She then took my daughter's plate and said it would be a couple more minutes. When she returned This is how the pizza looked. It took forever to get our bill and when she did come around, she asked if I wanted a box to go for the burger although it was not touched it was just cut in half - I'm no server but if I were a server, I would have asked if everything was OK with a burger as to why the customer did didn't eat it but to each its own. Not wanting to make anything an issue I just paid for both of our meals and we left . I don't think we will ever return for any kind of birthday lunch or birthday dinner.

T
Tressa Isensee

Our server was fine despite forgetting refills- that part doesn’t upset me. she was busy. The food however, is disgusting. Overpriced and extremely low quality trash. the lettuce that comes on the side of the quesadilla was orange and brown… I think my friend’s kid’s chicken nuggets were probably the best meal served at the table lol. go anywhere else in the mall if you want good food.

A
Ashley Linnihan

We came here for the experience and animatronics for my children. We were informed once already inside and ordered that the animals are not working, and haven’t been for the past two months. For two kids meals and two smoothies to total $45 we should be discounted for the experience, or at the very least a sign outside explaining the full experience is not available.
