Food was amazing. The best part: you get more refill of fries and entrecôte. The appetizer salad they bring is also excellent. They serve wine instead of balsamic with the bread, which I found pretty interesting. The taste was incredible. They have plenty of desserts.

Great value for money here - the steak and fries are good, and the dessert options are impressive. Bottled wine is close to retail price which is crazy. Didn’t really enjoy the salad as it was doused in sauce. Service is attentive.

Came here for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The salad was okay but we're here for the steak and fries which was excellent. They are served in a small plate but don't worry, the come around with seconds. For a price of $38, it's a good deal. The dessert was meh, just stick to the entrée.

The staff made us feel welcome without being overbearing — a perfect balance. The star of the show, of course, was the food. The signature steak-frites were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, and the secret sauce is absolutely addictive — rich, creamy, and full of depth. The fries were crisp, golden, and served generously (we loved the second helping!). The green salad with walnuts to start was fresh and light, setting the tone for a perfectly paced meal. The French bistro ambiance transported us straight to Paris, with cozy seating, charming décor, and a buzz of happy diners all around. We also appreciated the simplicity of the menu — they focus on what they do best, and they do it flawlessly. Highly recommend this spot for anyone who wants a classic French dining experience with great food and top-tier service. We’ll definitely be back!

Classic steak and frites serve all day, every day. If you’re looking for a safe, affordable, and easy choice for steak frites, this is your place. They only serve one dish, which makes their steak frites consistently good in taste and quality. You pay $38 for a salad, a large portion of fries, and more than two servings of steak. The interior is quite tight, and the tables are close together, just like the original French location. There are no reservations, but lately the restaurant has been more empty. Service is quick and attentive too.

“A classic steak and frites (simple, safe, and satisfying).” I did like it, but this is not a mind-blowing meal — it’s a very solid, classic steak and fries done well. Nothing marvelous, but a reliable place if you’re craving that combo. I actually like that the menu has only one dish, so you really can’t go wrong. The restaurant itself is really nice and the staff is super friendly. There are no reservations, only walk-ins. We were lucky to go on a rainy day, so the line was short and we waited about 30 minutes, but I’ve seen it get very long other days. It’s definitely a place you should try at least once. I’m not sure I would come back, but I’m glad I tried it — it feels like a comfort, safe place to go.

I came here because I was blown away by the steak frites at the restaurants in Paris and had to try it in New York. My expectations were high and overall the review is for how they met my expectations. Some reviews are saying it’s just as good as Paris, but there’s a few things that just miss the mark. The salad was a little different, still good but not as good The 1st portion of steak was smaller. They cooked it perfectly rare, but they weren’t as generous with the sauce as they are in Paris, and the sauce wasn’t served as warm. The 2nd portion was very generous, and the sauce was warm so that was closer! I also did ask for extra sauce on the 2nd serving. The wine was still quite good and happy to say the dessert was just as good! If you’re looking to get the same experience as in Paris, it’ll scratch an itch but fall a little short. But if you’re looking for a pretty good steak frites for a decent price, very worth it.

Such a interesting and fun concept! No menu, just a solid salad, then good steak in a lovely sauce with fries. It’s fun because you never have to order or think really. Cool place, worth the visit!

Small spot with tables packed in close—classic New York style. Dim lighting around 8pm sets a cozy vibe. They serve a prix fixe menu and only ask how you want your steak cooked. The fries are plain, but dipping them in the steak sauce adds a nice touch of flavor. They do give a second round of steaks and fries! I got there around 5:30 and did not have to wait for a table, however around 6pm the restaurant got full and by 8pm there was line out the door for a table. Great for a casual, no-nonsense steak night.

The service was good and we got our 2nd serving of steak promptly. The steak and fries were largely carried by the sauce and I enjoyed it more with pepper. For the price I enjoyed the meal and would eat here again if I was in the area 👍

I visited Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte recently and had a mixed experience. The idea of serving just one dish—steak with fries and a house sauce—is definitely unique and worth trying once. The concept sounds simple, but simplicity only works when every detail is perfect. The steak was cooked properly and served in two rounds to keep it warm, which is a nice touch. However, I found the famous sauce underwhelming. It wasn’t as flavorful as people made it out to be, and the portion of sauce was very small. I expected a bolder taste, but it lacked seasoning and depth. We had to specifically ask for table seasonings, which should’ve been offered from the beginning. The fries were decent, crispy and hot, but not extraordinary. What bothered me most was the seating. The tables are really close to each other, and I felt like I had no personal space at all. It got loud quickly, and the overall layout felt a bit chaotic. Price-wise, I think it’s a bit too expensive for what you get. When you’re only serving one dish, it better be unforgettable—and for me, it wasn’t. It’s still a cool place to check out if you’re curious, but I wouldn’t rush back. Would you try a one-dish restaurant like this? Or do you prefer variety when you eat out? Let me know your thoughts.

We’ve tried Le Relais de Venise in Paris before, and unfortunately we didn’t find the same quality here. The fixed menu is $38 per person and includes salad, steak, and fries. While the steak and fries are served twice, the second portion is noticeably smaller than the first. The tables are extremely close together, so you’re sitting almost shoulder to shoulder with other guests, which takes away from the experience. On top of that, the wait time was quite long. Overall, it didn’t live up to our expectations, and we don’t think we’d return.

Overeall very negative experience for its price point and do not recommend. The location is entirely wait onsite-only, which is problematic at rush hours. It is very crowded and densely packed - desks and chairs are parked close to each other, such that passing another person requires intentional scooting. The desks are also not provisioned with an equal supply of condiments: some larger desks come with peppers and salt, and I have seen waiters carrying dispensers of olive oiles, yet neither were ever offered or on the table. The service quality is poor, and the waiter made no attempt to show up more than what is absolutely necessary at times she sees fit only - my first request to have the water bottle replenished was entirely ignored when the waiter offered the second serving of steak frites, and was only fulfilled when she came back to give the dessert menu. The food leaves more to be desired. I ordered the fixe prix, having come in very hungry, yet the severely excessive, suffocating and already-blended Dijon mustard in the starting salad, coupled with the soft, visibly unfresh lettuce, is so off-putting that I had to turn away a good portion of it. The steak frites portioning also left more to be desired: while the steak and (especially) its sauce were of good flavors, they were not served in sufficient quantities, and it felt like the majority of the filling came from the fries, which I found no superior to your run-of-the-mill French fries from McDonald's. As a saving grace, the dessert is excellent in flavor, but it too can benefit from an enlarged serving. In summary - you'd be paying $38 pre-tax, pre-tip at least to be densely packed and served food at mixed qualities by waiters who come and go as they wish. Midtown East has better to offer - or, hop on an E and treat yourself to some real thing over LIC.

If you discovered this place through social media, keep in mind that influencers are paid to promote it. The food quality is very poor. I ordered a salad that didn’t look fresh, and the taste was even worse. The dressing seemed spoiled and had an unpleasant flavor. The meat and fries were also very mediocre. For $40–$50, you can easily find a much better and more delicious meal elsewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised that they have this in NYC now. The steak served is Sirloin - there will be 2 servings of this. The star of the show is the pepper sauce they pour on your steak. The fries are exceptionally good! As for the service. Here is the bad part. The lady that served us was a stocky Latina lady with a darker complexion. Her name might be Sarah as indicated in the check. She did her work of serving us. Come payment time, she refused to give me the machine to put in tip. I noticed the tip was computed on top of the tax amount. I wanted to put my own custom tip. She refused. She said you can only choose one of the 3 options for tip. I said I want to write my own. She insisted she type it for me. I feel very harassed by their staff.
