Wow! René is super attentive and friendly. The bartender was also very attentive and really knows his cocktails. The drinks were amazing, and the pizza was perfectly cooked. The service was more than excellent. Thank you so much! Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back soon!
Chef's kisses for this beautiful restaurant! From the moment that we walked in we felt like family. This is what quality food is about. The smells, the sounds and the atmosphere is so beautiful. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed. These meals are prepared with the utmost care. The lamb was out of this world. They do offer gluten free options. Make sure that you ask the waiter. My favorite dessert is the lemon one. I get it every time we go. They can make this gluten free as well. The prices are great for the quality and amount of food that you get. They spare no expense with making sure that you are fed well. The wine pairings are perfect! and the cocktails are great as well. Sociale also offers a private dining space if you want to host a private party.
We had dinner at Sociale Celler and really enjoyed the experience. The basement private room is small but very cozy, comfortably fitting around 20–30 people, and being next to the wine cellar creates a warm, intimate atmosphere that works well for a group dinner. Starters were served family-style. The Napoli-style Pizza Fritta was a highlight—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside—and the meatballs were flavorful and well balanced. For the pasta course, I chose the Carbonara, which was rich, well executed, and made with very fresh ingredients. The Branzino was extremely fresh and simply prepared, allowing the quality of the fish to shine. Desserts were shared and included the Tortino al Cioccolato, a classic Tiramisu, and the Meyer Lemon Catalana, which was bright and refreshing. The family-style setup for the desserts worked well overall; however, slightly larger portions or individual servings could make it even better, given the no double dipping rule. Overall, Sociale Celler offers a cozy setting with thoughtfully prepared food and a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience, especially well suited for group dinners and private events.
Dinner here was outstanding. They have very good cocktails. Their service is excellent. And we really like the atmosphere; the abundance of leafy green plants is refreshing. We really enjoyed their pizzas, with their super crispy but light crusts and fresh ingredients.
I've been here a bunch of times. Food is always really solid. Great place for breakfast or lunch during the week. Pastas and flat breads are delicious. The eggplant dish served in a hot skillet is amazing. Service is quick and friendly. Probably my favorite lunch spot now in the area.
One of my favorite first restaurants. Great food and amazing specials.
Sociale offers an outstanding dining experience, with its Margherita pizza being one of the best I’ve had. The fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely incredible—the sauce was creamy and flavorful, making every bite a delight. Our pasta dishes were also excellent, but the Brussels sprouts and pizza truly stood out as favorites. The service was fast and attentive, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable meal. Highly recommend this spot for a delicious and well-executed meal!
Sociale is one of my favorite Italian restaurant’s. The service is fantastic and so is the food. Tasty, fresh, great drinks too.
I came here with a group of 8 and the staff and owner went above and beyond to make sure our meal was perfect. I ordered the lamb shank and it was delicious with the fresh gnocchi. I also got to try a bite of the meatloaf burger and hope to come back for a full one sometime!
I have been here maybe 50 times and it’s consistently fabulous every time. The food, the service and the atmosphere are always truly delightful here. It’s one of the best restaurants in this area. You feel cared for and transported to an oasis, time stops and you focus on your meal. You can’t go wrong with anything you order but the burrata, the meatballs, the spaghetti and the Brussels are must haves. The bourbon gelato might be made fresh onsite because its texture tastes like it’s right from Italy.
Delicious spaghetti🍝, great steak 🥩, fabulous lemon cake for dessert and the service was on point. They squeezed us in on a busy Saturday night when we didn't have a booking either so we were really grateful.
Visiting NY for us includes a visit to Brooklyn to have a cozy night with delicious and authentic italian food. The pizza is delicious with a nice crisp crust and the pasta a perfect al dente, nice and hot served under silver plate covers. The drinks, especially the margarita picante, are delicious. Child friendly and still quiet ambience. We left happy and satisfied!
Really nice italian restaurant! Get the Sato Project cocktail (piña colada on steroids), get some oysters because they are beautiful here (clean presentation, no debris, muscle is precut, nice spicy cocktail sauce involving sriracha and tabasco) try the meatball parm sandwich (slimmed down version of a deli classic), and sit outside in the covered seating as its quite nice. The service was really quite good, we were pleasantly surprised by this spot overall, we will be coming back for sure.
Sociale is a great all-around spot in the neighborhood. It has a large menu with quality cocktails. What prompted me to come write this review was the Spaghetti Carbonara and margarita picante. Quality pasta with great flavor. Finding a great carbonara is hard, and i highly recommend this one.
This place was perfect for a Post Valentine's day dinner. The atmosphere was amazing, maybe a little too dark. The food was *chef's kiss*. We got the short ribs and fried mozzarella as starters, lasagna and pumpkin pasta dishes for our entree. The servers were very attentive and delightful. We ended the night with a dessert that was not heavy but light and flavourful.
First time here🍽 Great experience on a Sunday night, The staff were very friendly, Food & Desserts were Delicious, Big thanks to the Chef de cuisine👨🍳 also Drinks 🍹 ☕️ well made. Recommended!!!
Fantastic neighborhood spot. You will not regret lunch at the bar. Great pasta... Attentive service... Definitely local character.
Sociale, located in Brooklyn, NY, is a must-visit restaurant that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As soon as we arrived, Meghan and her husband Francesco greeted us at the front door, making us feel at home. The decor is unique, with lots of live plants and low lighting that adds to the cozy ambiance. We started with cocktails, and they were made to perfection. The wine selection, featuring Italian wines, was impressive and paired perfectly with the Italian cuisine. Francesco's Italian heritage is evident in the delicious food that the chef prepares. The spaghetti and meatballs were standout dishes, with the spaghetti having a fresh basil taste that was heavenly. The patate cipolla flatbread was also excellent, with little globs of ricotta that were like little clouds of joy. The server was attentive and polite, adding to the overall experience. The restaurant seemed to have many neighborhood clientele, which is always a good sign that the food is excellent. Overall, Sociale is a fantastic restaurant that provides an enjoyable dining experience. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it's a must-visit restaurant in Manhattan. It was only a short subway ride away from our hotel in Brooklyn. The atmosphere, drinks, food, and service all come together to create a memorable dining experience. Congratulations to Meghan, Francesco, and their team for creating such an amazing restaurant!
A great experience, you can chill outside on the terrasse with a nice glass of wine. Food is absolutely delicious. No hesitation, you have to go there if you're around 🤩🤩
My fiancée and I were in the area and went here because it looked nice from the outside. The food was great and the service was excellent! Their pasta sauce is amazing👏
Best lasagne I’ve ever had. Just look at it. It’s a beaut. Creamy, smooth, and rich, with the bolognese almost a paste, in three kinds of sauce. Very relaxed vibe late at night, with excellent service. Great spot for an upscale date.
It's like an unforgettable time everytime I eat there. Food is delicious, service is well executed and the staff is super humble, no attitude, just positive vibe. It is really a special place. Bravi!! (picture of Spaghetti al Pomodoro, my favorite)
The honey and nduja sausage pie is one of the best combinations I’ve ever tasted in a pizza. I am embarrassed to say that I dream about it! Lol. The drinks are awesome and the rest of the menu is also top-notch. We will usually get the pizza as an appetizer along with some small plates, and then dive in for a good entrée.
Food was delicious but I was mainly impressed by the quality of service I received! My glass of water was never empty, my table was cleared quickly and everything arrived promptly! 10/10 experience.
The place is beautiful, relaxing atmosphere.i met a group there and I soon as I got outside the door I was greeted and soon taken to the table that the group was at.the service was great the food was great.they went above and beyond to make sure that all needs was met and the patience, understanding and the manners of all the staff was superb denfiently one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in New york
I have been coming here for several years and the staff have always been warm and friendly. The food is great and my fiancé is a big fan of the lasagna.
My favorite local restaurant. Staff is awesome, so personable and relaxed. Food is exceptional. I go here at least once a week.
Thank you to everyone at Sociale. Each and every time I bring friends and family, you all make us all feel right at home. To top it off, you add in delicious food and my favorite margarita in nyc :) Top notch restaurant, must go!!
Excellent dinner and overall experience last month. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Brooklyn.
Really wonderful restaurant full of wonderful people. The pasta is homemade and spectacular. The pizza is also worth it. Neighborhood has many great pizza places but don’t sleep on Sociale. They fry it like they do in Italy and it is different from just about every other place. Oh! And their spicy margarita is very very very good!
Calamari was delicious and not too fried, the Eggplant was a small portion but good. Branzino was delectable. I want to go get another bite. The two cocktails were delicious. My Piccante Margarita was perfectly spicy. The Sato Project was fresh and the right amount of sweet.
Love this spot, especially when the weather is nice enough to sit outside (it gets PACKED though, so make a reservation!) Recommended: - Meatballs - Carbonara - Farfalle Di Mare - Their welcome bread, omgggg - Cocktails (wonderful and beautifully presented) Maybe Skip: - Pizza Fritta (I love fried things, and especially love fried panzerottis, but wasn't in love with their fried pizza here, but just my opinion!) Great spot for dates or to catch up with friends. Service is always fantastic.
Sociale is one of those neighborhood gems I keep coming back to—and for good reason. The service? Always warm and welcoming. The vibe? Relaxed but polished. And the food? Let’s just say if fried pizza is wrong, I don’t want to be right. The fried pizzas are the MVP here—crispy, pillowy, and topped with just the right amount of salty prosciutto and peppery arugula to make you question every other pizza you've ever loved. I’ve been here many times over the past few years, and it’s consistently solid. Bonus points for being open on Mondays (a rare gift in Carroll Gardens when the rest of the block goes dark). Drinks are smooth and strong—the margaritas are excellent—but $18 for one on a Monday? No happy hour, no Cinco de Mayo special? That’s the only thing keeping this from five stars. My wallet needed a shot of tequila after that. Still, Sociale’s charm, quality, and service make it easy to overlook the price tag now and then. Just maybe toss us a lime-salt-rimmed bone next time?
The food is amazing. The pasta is just amazingg!!! Also I loved the pannacota. I loved the ambience and very clean. The service is not that good, the server is quite rude when my card can not read by the EDC, but actually it is because my card doesn’t have chip so need to be inserted.
Nice atmosphere and great menu. The wait staff was friendly and we really enjoyed our meals. The short rib appetizer was especially delicious. We had the lasagna and the rabbit tagliatelle. Everything was superb. My only (small) complaint is that the portions were a bit small, but overall the experience was nice and we'll definitely be back.
Sociale is a really cute corner spot on Court St in Brooklyn that has a great vibe and decor. I’ve only been for brunch and it was a little u underwhelming, but I would go back to try their dinner food. I usually see people there for drinks in the afternoon/evening but the menu sounds great. For brunch the oysters were good but only came with a mignonette sauce— no cocktail sauce or horseradish or crackers, all of which I would have liked. The steak and eggs was okay; I was excited about the red wine hollandaise but it didn’t have a great or deep flavor. Overall since it bills itself as an Italian restaurant and I didn’t have anything Italian there, I will be back to try more food.
Cute neighborhood spot for some casual Italian food. Pizza is unique in that the crust is made of a fried crispy dough. My favorite item was the dessert with the salted caramel ice cream and warm chocolate cake.
Local Italian spot in cobble hill for interesting pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and drinks. Pros: Nice outdoor space, good drink menu (plenty of local beers), lots of different options to eat Cons: The pizza fritta is good if you know exactly what to expect, but it’s more like a funnel cake with sauce/cheese on top than it is a pizza
A wonderful establishment with great food and reasonable prices. It was also very nice to be greeted with beautiful smiles from the staff, as well as their swift service. I had tiramisu for the first time here ! Thank you so much for the delicious food and warm ambience. Ig : @ferreromonae
Are you kidding me? I mean the food is delicious but I just paid $22 for a half and half soup! Except these are more 1/4 size! This soup will be 3 spoonfuls and done! Outrageous
Lovely atmosphere and good service. The waiter was very present and regularly checked in with me. All the food was good, and I really liked the Meyer lemon catalana that the waiter recommended. The goat was a bit dry.
I really want to give this place four stars, but after waiting nearly forty minutes for paillard di pollo and broccoli rabe, I’m not feeling generous. Counting myself and my dining companion there were approximately twenty customers dining here on an unseasonably cool summer afternoon. Our cordial waiter greeted us immediately and took our drink orders. So far, so good. When he brought our drinks to the table he took our food order. Still good. Then, we waited... and waited... and waited. I began to wonders whether there was one person in the kitchen prepping all of these meals. “How does chicken and veggies take this long?” “Gee, a complimentary drink or a free order of their $3 per person bread would be nice.” “That staffer, who’s sitting around and chatting, in fluent Italian with other guests, surely could do something to expedite this excruciating experience.” As I got up to pay for our drinks and cancel the lunch order, out comes our food from the downstairs kitchen. Was the food good? Extremely. Was it worth $39 plus tax and gratuity? Possibly, but it doesn’t feel like it today. Would I dine there again? Yeah... when time is not an issue.
A great new addition to the neighborhood. The owners are lovely and the service is impeccable. They really stay on top of their game. We've been twice now. The salad Fresca is very nice with salty fresh mozzarella. The oysters were fresh and briny. The Spanish octopus lacked anything exciting but was ok. The spaghetti Sociale is very good with homemade noodles. The steak was also very good. The bronzino was good not great. The short ribs app that my friend had as an entree was very good. Now the disappointing: please avoid the 'pizza' at all costs. It is a soupy, mushy mess. (as you can see from my picture) The crust is like a failed attempt at a Bisquick crust made by someone who has never tasted pizza in the midwest. I have no idea what they are trying to go for here. There is no excuse for inedible pizza in nyc. I can't stress enough how bad it is. I saw kids not even eating it. They should take it off the menu or at least buy real pizza dough right across the street at Caputos. We will go back for drinks, they have a lovely bar, and as I mentioned, the people are very nice. They could just dial it up a notch and my god do something about that pizza.
I usually don’t like to give bad ratings. I could be in a mood, the chef could be having a bad day, maybe I ordered the wrong dish, or it’s the end of the day; you know could be many reasons. But I’m going to start giving more ratings, sorry it starts with y’all. Bland, overcooked seafood farfalle. Complimentary bread was horrible, probably had to pay extra for the good bread. Got the mozzarella sticks for appetizer (and yes I mean the fried burrata), it was ok. Chicken dish was good though!
After reading some rave reviews I decided to check this place out. I ordered a drink but the food came first - bread and meatballs, both rather bland and unremarkable. The Paloma came next, and they make a decent cocktail. Restaurants at this price point should be crafting memorable experiences. This was not one of them.
Alright! So this is where we decided to go for Valentine’s Day and because I don’t want to start my review just negative, let’s begin with the positives: - the vibe inside is great for a date night of any kind - the staff was very nice and kind - the eggplant Parmesan was stellar, though small as it’s only available as a starter - one of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had Ok so let’s move on to the negatives: - save for the eggplant parm the food was awful. We ordered 4 different food items (oysters, focaccia (Bianca), eggplant parm, and their spinach tagliatelle scallop special) - the oysters had a couple of truly terrible tasting ones in there and the mignonette was essentially just either balsamic or malt vinegar - the focaccia was terrible. $5 for the picture attached to this review is hilarious - the spinach tagliatelle was really rough. So so so bland, the scallops were overcooked and very rubbery, and there was truly just no real taste to the dish - some of the slowest service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Though the staff was very nice, it took 15 minutes to get bread, and later 15-20 minutes to get a drink - I ordered a whiskey ginger and the ginger ale was fully, fully flat with no acknowledgment as to such I don’t think I’d recommend or return, which is a shame because this restaurant could be great if some things changed.
Been here a few times since it opened. Atmosphere has always been nice, but the food quality wile very good at the beginning has declined significantly. Just went there this past weekend and my biggest issue was the service. Even if we were ordering plenty of food and quite a few bottles of wine, we felt like we were rushed and not welcomed. The staff wanted to go home and close, even if this was Saturday night at 10.30/11pm when we got the check. This is not cool. Will never bring my business here again.
Had the lobster risotto special and it was far from special. Easily one of the worst meals i’ve had. The waiter was passive aggressive when I politely said that I didn’t enjoy my meal. It was removed from the bill but the whole situation was “ick”. Could have been an off night, but it was just simply not good. Watery, under seasoned, and not good quality lobster.
Was so excited to try this spot, and was extremely disappointment. Honestly, disgusted is a better word. The pizza came fully uncut, the drinks were foul, oysters were not cut from the muscle, but the kicker was the sand crab that I found in an oyster (legs still kicking). On top of all of this, nothing was comped. I can confidently say that I will not be going back.
Beautiful restaurant but it’s really too bad when you let your servers make decisions when to close. We had a dinner with 5 people, spend about $650 and we were being rushed out to close out at 11 pm.. and it was Saturday night!! They just wanted to go home. Seems that the owners are not around to see what’s happening to their restaurant. I work in the industry and it’s really sad to see.
