Recommend fried chicken! You definitely need to make the reservation before visiting. Or get early to be on the wait list. It is a super popular restaurant in K-town. The space of the restaurant is not super big, but the vibe is great.

I loved this meal! Came here in early 2021 and was pleasantly surprised. The pork wirh the white kimchi was absolutely delicious and I came back the next day to get it again. The decor is comfy and the little theme was cute. I enjoy this place and would come again!!

Pretty sure everyone around me has heard how much I love this place! The food never misses!!! The Mentaiko udon is my absolute favorite and I have to get it every time! I recommend making a reservation since the place gets really busy! The food comes out quickly and they don’t course it. Service is normally attentive and the hosts are always super nice. If you’re in the city, this is a must have! The vibe is loud and fun. Definitely worth checking out!

Went with a friend on a Sunday night. Was seated right away. Ordered the chapaguri, bossam, and the wasabi cream chicken. All good, tasty, and flavorful. Low lighting, good music, great service. The cabbage underneath the bed of scallions in the bossam dish was 🤌

The korean army stew is so many toppings in a moderately spicy, warm broth! perfect for this crazy nyc weather. And pork belly rice crepes is A MUST!! crispy glazed pork belly wrapped in soft & chewy rice cake, sweet and savory who would've thought this combo would work?! The vibes were amazing, service was even better!

Super super tasty. We're staying at the Arlo right beside so it's perfect for any late check ins or late night drinks when it's less busy near last call. Got the soju slushes, perfect cooldown for any spicy dishes and really fun bottling. We ordered the honey garlic chicken with whipped wasabi cream. The wasabi cream was so creative, absolutely delightful presentation, lightness and flavour. The seafood udon was very tasty. Closer to a frutti del mare in flavour, so unexpected but definitely welcome. Slightly cheesy, garlicy, seafood. Also a nice contrast to any spicy dishes. Highly recommended. So yummy. Service was attentive as well.

Delicious Korean food for good prices and not terribly long waits. Highlights from this meal were the crispy corn pancake and the pork belly rice crepe wraps. Would come again!

I ordered the crispy corn pancake and short rib chapaguri. The short rib chapaguri is amazing. The noodle is soft and nice. The taste is so good. The corn pancake is a bit oily. I also ordered the homemade makgulli, yogurt one, it is amazing.

Cannot miss the Korean spots like this when you’re in NY!! Highlights of the menu: 1. Buttered squid fried rice 2. Crispy corn pancake 3. Korean army soup 4. Cod roe seafood udon 5. Garlic crusts & spicy chicken 6. Tteok-bokki - spicy rice cake 7. Sapporo draft beer 8. Lychee soju by the glass 9. Peach Yakult soju by the glass The food here is amaazingg! So good for the presentation yet very delicious. The portion is very good as not too big or small. They offer a variety of sojus, mixing it up with different flavors to make it fun. I always love the soju variety. I lived at the hotel right next to this restaurant, which makes it so convenient! This place offers a great ambience for hangouts and drinks night time. Quick service and food comes out even quicker! I recommended this pla

Food was super delicious and our server Yoonsoo was very attentive and friendly. love that the bonchon is the spicy rice cake! I would absolutely recommend getting the code roe seafood udon. The creaminess and aroma of the sauce were sensational. My gf and I also ended up dipping the garlic cruist chicken in the leftover sauce, which turned out to be delicious. If you do want some drinks, do try out the white peach makgulli, super refreshing!

We wound up here on a friend's recommendation. After seeing the place filled with Koreans we knew the food was legit. We ordered Yuzu Soju cocktails. For food we had Crispy chicken with Honey Butter and Whole grain mustard sauce with wasabi whipped cream, crispy Havana style corn pancake, shrimp popcorn, pork belly rice crepe wrap, and the cod roe seafood union. The food was delicious. I would describe it as Korean comfort food. Even having a heavy meal at Cote earlier in the night. We could stop eating this food. You need to eat here. You'll feel better that you did.

First time coming here was 2014 and it’s long been my fav place in Ktown. It is Korean restaurant but most of menus aren’t really in very traditional way. It’s more closer to comfort food version of Korean cuisine with some interesting ideas, so it works very well for those occassions where you want to casually enjoy some good foods and drinks at the same time. I really want to recommend Chestnut Makeoli because it provides good smooth introduction of what Korean rice wine can be. I would also strongly recommend Korean egg roll, which is very different from usual American Chinese menu, but do avoid it if you have serious hatred towards seafood because the egg roll has marinated fish egg inside it. That’s the beauty of their egg roll in my opinion though. Friday and weekends can be brutal for waiting line, but fortunately they started to take reservation requests post covid.

A very nice chill bar with good food and yummy drinks! The food there is really good! It almost feels like you’re at one of the cool bars in Korea. The service there is really good too! Their staff is always friendly and always very nice Would definitely recommend this place for drinks and their delicious food!

I recall seeing this in my recommended and my best friend and I decided to try it out. We get a complimentary side dish of tteokbokki, which is a bit more spicy than most but nothing I personally can’t handle. Service is friendly, the space isn’t tooo spacious or cramped but there’s plenty of seating. We got peach drink which was pretty good. However, the short rib chapaguri was delicious! Very savory and a hint of spice but super tasty! I highly recommend trying this out.

My favourite Korean restaurant in Ktown. Been there 5 times already, and I would go there every single weekend night. Best Korean fried chicken I've had in my life. Take it shake it absolutely amazing.

Take31 was the first restaurant I ordered food from when I moved to the city, and it's been a reliable staple in the neighborhood whenever I'm craving for inventive Korean comfort food. Our go-to orders are the crispy corn pancake, wasabi cream chicken, and short rib chapaguri. The corn pancakes are crisped to perfection with a great salty-sweet flavor balance that makes it light even if it's actually a very filling portion size. The wasabi cream chicken also has a sweet-salty flavor profile, while the wasabi whipped cream gives it a kick. The chapaguri is very heavy and filling, perfect as the main dish, with generous servings of short rib and spicy black bean sauce for flavor. We also like to get the spam & mayo rice ball or the seafood and scallion pancake as add-ons if we're in a 2-3 person group, while the braised pork belly main dish is also a good pick if you've got more people than that. Overall I'd say Take31 is my favorite modern Korean entry in the Hand Hospitality family of restaurants. It's usually a 1-2 hour wait if you're walking in on a weekend, but well worth it - just head over to the Arlo Hotel next door for a drink while waiting for your table.

The pork belly crepe was amazing! My husband and I still talk about it. If you are in NYC go get this. Perfectly juicy and flavorful pork. It has a little bit of sweetness and texture to the dish. The soup was just what we needed on a cold night.

C

Amazing dishes, come out as they are ready. Wonderful flavors and very filling. Ordered the pork belly crepe to share (ate too fast to get picture). The short rib chapaguri was seasoned well with tons of meat pieces for every bite. Have amazing allergy chart online for each item to reference. My friends loved their dishes of bulgolgi black fried rice and white seafood soup with udon.

J

My first pick is deep fried chicken with wasabi cream. Second one will go for corn pancake! The pork belly wrapped with rice cake is just too greasy to have more than 2 pieces😅

I'm slowly making my way through the Hand Hospitality portfolio of restaurants and Take 31 did not disappoint! I made a reservation for a party of 4 to celebrate my birthday earlier this year and we were seated at a booth in the back of the restaurant. What we got: - Braised Pork Belly - Spicy Soft Tofu Hotpot - Seafood and Scallion Pancake - Crispy Corn Pancake - White Peach Makgeoli - Lemon Pear Slushy Soju Final Thoughts: The unique drinks were a hit we loved both the white peach makgeoli and lemon pear slushy soju! The braised pork belly was delicious and the spicy soft tofu hotpot had a good kick to it. One of my favourite meals during this New York Trip.

The food here is definitely unique compared to the Dallas places I frequent. The rice cake porkeblly has a very savory and sweet taste which can be very overpowering at times. The fried corn was probably my favorite. It was nice and crispy throughout the whole night, however I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like sweet foods as it is also a little overpowering. The craft alcohol here has got to be the best I've tried at a Korean place. The cocktail was very delicious and the flavored slush makkeoli was very refreshing.

Definitely make a reservation beforehand and the service got us an early table. The food is serve semi fast and it was delicious. I love everything on that menu. A great spot that doesn't rush you and can sit and chat with your friends while enjoying great food. 10/10

I highly recommend everything I ordered today (but I also heard other things are bad). I love the alcohol here- especially the white peach makgulli (tastes like liquid ice cream). I also recommend the cod roe omelette. Seafood cod roe udon, and pork belly with rice crepes. Two people ate about $90 and very full. I love everything I ordered so I wouldn’t mind come back again. But since there is nothing else I want to try in the menu, I am also okay with not coming back again… hard to decide 4 or 5 stars.

M
Minh

Very good Korean place. I love their takes on some of the dishes. The drinks were to die for. I recommend the shaved ice soju I believe. The highlight for me was the tofu and the pork dish. Low light was the noodle (The chapaguri I think). It's not much different from a packet noodle and you add meat. I would avoid it. The location and decorations were nice. The price was great and you will be full.

Take 31 has been my go-to Korean restaurant in NYC for the past 7 years, and it never disappoints! This visit, I tried some of their new seasonal dishes: the POCHA GARAK GUKSOO and CHICKEN GIZZARD WITH HONEY GARLIC BUTTER. Both were outstanding. The chicken gizzards were perfectly sautéed with honey garlic butter, making them incredibly tasty and chewy. Of course, I had to order my all-time favorites: the BRAISED PORK BELLY and COD ROE SEAFOOD UDON. The pork belly, served with white kimchi and scallions, was as succulent as ever. The cod roe udon, a dish I get every time, was as delightful as the first time I tried it, with a spicy cream sauce that complements the seafood perfectly. The drinks were just as impressive, especially the homemade SIGNATURE MAKGULLI in Chestnut flavor (I don’t drink alcohol but I order this every time!) and the TAKE IT, SHAKE IT SLUSHY SOJU in refreshing Lemon Pear flavor. Take 31 continues to be the best Korean dining experience in the city. Whether you’re a first-timer or a long-time fan like me, this place is a must-visit.

Yummy bites, cordial staff and speedy service. My friend and I came here for an early dinner on a weekday, and the place was relatively busy. We had made reservations in advance, which I recommend you do. The food was quite tasty, and they even gave us a free dduckbokki appetizer. We ordered their famous pork with rice cake and also their garlic chicken. Both were delicious. All in all, I would recommend coming here for a casual date night or for a nice meal with friends, for the great atmosphere and good food.

Incredible food and great service. Everything we ordered was delicious and food arrived on a timely manner. The dishes that stood out the most were the Rolled Up Roe Omelette and Pork Belly with Rice Crepe Wrap. The omelette was so soft and flavourful. The pork belly was tender and extra chewy the to the crepe wrap. The Crispy Corn Pancake was very crispy and delicious as well. The Cod Roe Seafood Udon was also delicious - the noodles were cooked perfectly and the soup base was very rich. We also ordered the Garlic Crusts & Spicy Chicken and the Wasabi Cream Chicken. Both were good but not outstanding In terms of drinks, we ordered the Macgeolli slush in the Yogurt and Melona flavour. I personally don’t like the melon melona flavour that much so that one was less enjoyable. The yogurt slush was delicious. Finally, instead of the regular side dishes that Korean restaurants have (like Kimchi, potato), Take31 service spicy rice cakes (teokbeokki). As someone who loved spicy rice cakes, I was very happy with this throughout the dinner.

Take31 is a modern Korean restaurant located right outside of Koreatown, serving traditional Korean dishes while providing a lowkey ambiance. The service was exceptional. They were having a pop up with Makgeolli (Rice Wine) and the owner of the Makgeolli business came over and explained everything to us. The food came out quickly, and they were quick to remove dishes and check-in on things like water refills or taking orders. The food stands out as well. There isn't any banchan besides tteokbokki, but the tteokbokki was spicy and sweet. Not too overwhelming, but does have a little kick that people may not expect if they're not used to it. We got the Seafood & Scallion Pancakes, Grilled Squid Fried Rice, Pork Belly, and Budae Jjigae/Army Stew. The Army Stew was quite large and decently priced, and came with decent portions of the ingredients. The soup itself wasn't too sour, but went well with the ingredients included. The Pork Belly was soft and melted in our mouths, and the spicy/sweet cabbage went well with it. The Grilled Squid was buttery and tasted quite savory, though the portion was a bit smaller than expected. This seafood pancake was a highlight. It was very crispy, remaining crisp throughout even though it came out a bit later. The sauce is the standard pajeon dipping sauce, but it went really well with the pancake and didn't make the pancake less crispy. Overall, a wonderful place to go on a date or eat out if Ktown is too busy.

📍:  | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 📸: cod roe omelette, seafood scallion pancake, pork belly rice crepe wraps, short rib chapaguri, spicy tteokboki This place was a lovely little Korean fusion restaurant that i walked by and immediately added to my list. The food was fantastic here. We ordered the rolled up cod roe omelette, seafood scallion pancake, pork belly rice crepe wraps, short rib chapaguri, and the signature white peach makgulli which was just enough food for three people. They start you off with a serving of spicy tteokboki that really packed some heat and whetted our appetites. My favourites would have to be the cod roe omelette and the pork belly. The cod roe omelette was delicious, soft egg rolled up and drizzled with a creamy sauce and egg roe. I loved the pork belly. I'm always a fan of pork belly but here, they wrapped it in injeolmi which gave it a delectable chew that paired nicely with the soybean powder. The pork belly itself was tender and flavourful; definitely something to share. I love the homemade pickles that they served with it. The seafood scallion pancake was alright, a bit too much batter but nice and crisp. The sauce that they serve it with really elevates the pancake. Good to try but I don't think I'd order it again. The chapaguri was also yummy, the noodles were al dente and there was enough meat to share out amongst 3 people. Our egg was a little overcooked so we didn't quite get the oozey yolk that we wanted. The makgulli was delicious. Has that slight characteristic tang but the white peach flavour really shone through and it was served super cold, with a bit of slush which made it the perfect accompaniment for dinner. We also wanted to try the yogurt and banana, i love that they have these unique flavours. All in all, a fantastic dinner with truly delicious food. Ambiance was great, music was playing but we could still chat amongst ourselves and the service was great. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area! check out @cherriechomps on ig for more food reviews :)

Fantastic meal! We had reservations for 5:30 on a Saturday evening when they first opened and was definitely a good idea as there was already a line generating outside the restaurant. You get to order your meal from am order card (which makes things much easier!). We had the Crispy Corn Pancake, Cod Roe Seafood Udon, and the Korean Army Soup. The first two were probably our favorites, though we also enjoyed the Korean Army Soup. The food came very quickly, and we were actually done with our meal in about 45 minutes. Highly recommend this restaurant, you won't regret it!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful place. I was very pleased with the excellent service, and the design and ambiance of the restaurant were a delightful surprise. My friend and I love trying new dishes, and that evening, we decided to sample the chicken gizzards. To be honest, it’s an acquired taste, and unfortunately, it wasn’t for us, so we asked for it to be taken away. I was genuinely surprised when the manager came over to inquire why we had returned it. We politely explained that we simply wanted to try something new and hadn’t meant to request it be removed from the bill. The manager graciously apologized and went ahead and removed it from our check, which was such a kind gesture. We really enjoyed the chicken wings, and my personal favorite was the soju with gin and tonic! I highly recommend visiting this restaurant!

The food is amazing, portions are very big, can’t offer different level of spiciness for the soup. Very good experience, the restaurant is cozy but it gets very loud but the staff is very attentive and food comes out very fast. Best fried chicken we have tried, really amazing.

Delicious short rib black bean noodles (chapaguri), with a nice hint of heat which isn't super common with that style of noodle but was pleasant all the same. The spicy fried chicken was even better -- pricey for the portion but pretty worth it. Free rice cakes too, which was nice.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while! It did not disappoint! The food is so good! My personal favorites are the Cod Roe Seafood Udon and Cod Roe Omelette. I highly recommend them. We also had the Pork Belly in Rice Crepe Wraps and Bulgogi Fried Rice. All were amazing and filling! The staff were also nice. The service is great too. Our food came out so quickly but you can tell it was fresh! It’s quite packed inside but the vibes were nice. It’s a little bit on the pricier side, so if you want to try it once, I’d say it’s worth it. Personally, i’d come back again to try more dishes (and to have the cod roe udon again!) 10/10 recommend!

Take31 in Koreatown, Manhattan, is a Korean fusion gem that has become a go-to spot for us. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, with a friendly and efficient staff who maintain high standards—even during the busiest times. We’ve been here many times, for dine-in and takeout, and the quality is consistently impressive. Each dish comes with a complimentary small plate of tteokbokki, the classic Korean spicy rice cakes, which you can even ask to refill—a nice touch that enhances the dining experience! Our favorites are the Butter Squid Fried Rice, which is delightfully buttery and flavorful, and the Garlic Crust and Spicy Chicken, where the crispy fried chicken has a perfect balance of spice and crunch. Another standout is the Short Ribs Chapaguri, a fusion of beef with the rich, savory flavors of Korean black bean noodles (jajangmyeon). These dishes keep us coming back for more! Their signature soju cocktails are also a must-try, adding a refreshing touch to the experience. If you plan to walk in, I recommend arriving about 15 minutes before opening, but making a reservation is ideal since it’s always busy. Take31 is well worth the wait and a great spot for anyone craving delicious Korean fusion in Koreatown.

Had a great experience one of the better korean food I’ve had in NYC. The vibes were nice not too too dark and music not overly loud. Waiters were very attentive to us and the complementary spicy rice cakes were a plus. The banana makgulli was refreshing and tasty. The star for us was the spicy short ribs - tender and fell off the bone and right amount of spicy. The tuna kimbap was delicious and the short rib chapaguri was good as well. Would come back.

If you think you know Korean cuisine, think again. Eating here reinforced our love for Korean food while astonishing us with new and innovative takes on traditional dishes. The chefs who devised the menu really deserve all the plaudits. Right from the moment of being seated, we were treated to complimentary servings of spicy rice cakes. We enjoyed our slushy and sweet Makgulli (Yoghurt) drinks order while browsing through an interesting mix of main dishes. Given the versatility of cooking methods and fresh ingredients, each dish had its own personality: the Braised Pork Belly was tender and well balanced by its garnish. The Crispy Corn Pancake had an addictive quality due to the crunchiness of each bite and mini bursts of sweet flavour. The Bulgogi Black Garlic Fried Rice was an excellent fusion of a Korean BBQ classic with the hearty comfort of fried rice. Finally, the complex textures and flavours of the Cod Roe Omelette elevated this dish to a league of its own and was hands down our favourite order. Overall, this was an exciting modern and high end take on Korean cuisine that was worth every dollar paid. We suggest securing your seats in advance to avoid disappointment. (We got lucky without reservations by being there at the very start and needing only a table for two, for an hour).

I came here on a friend's recommendation and really enjoyed it! It's pretty amazing that their free bottomless banchan is ddukbokki, and it's great! The rice cakes are tender but not overcooked, and it has good flavor. I also thought the soju slushies were a great deal -- for $17, we were able to fill 10 shot glasses. I do wish the slushies were more frozen, but they were otherwise very delicious and accompanied the food well. I also really liked the spicy galbi stew -- there were two versions of galbi in the stew, and both were very tender and flavorful. The broth was rich and flavorful without being heavy. I would get this again. The other dishes we got were decent but I probably wouldn't get them again. The crispy corn pancake had a great crunchy texture but was a bit too sweet, the jjapaguri was pretty unremarkable, and the "Korean ceviche"/mulhwe was good but not great. I could definitely see myself coming back again -- the staples of bottomless ddukbokki and delicious soju slushies give Take31 a strong foundation for a delicious meal in my mind. The ambience is cool and bustling and the staff are kind and attentive.

Finally got a reservation here! We tried their shake soju and makgoli - the makgoli was tasty but definitely way less strong than bottled ones. Sojus were great I love that they tasted like a smoothie almost and is still strong. The food was amazing! I love the garlic wasabi chicken and the rice roll pork belly! The stew was a little too spicy for me wouldn't get it again. But overall, service was great food was delicious would come back again!

always busy and the food is really good! this is my go to for an affordable bite in ktown, or before going out as a pregame. must tries are the bossam or pork belly with a super tangy scallion salad, seafood cream udon with lots of roe and fried chicken (they rotate the sauce and flavors). the cod roe omelette and the corn jeon are a pretty good as well!

This place is super busy during dinner hours. I made a reservation one day ahead, otherwise I'll need to wait like 20 min to get a table. The pork belly with rice crepe is a delight! I really like it. The rice crepe wraps are super soft and smooth. Also like the soybean powders. Also got the fried chicken. It was also delicious, though not as impressive as the pork belly rice crepe. Both dishes have large portions. I came by myself so I didn't finish either of it. Packed the leftovers for another meal. They also give a free rice cake appetizer to each table.

We went here on a Friday night, which was busy but still got a seat walking in. We very much enjoyed the food: the bossam was juicy and delicious, the kimchi jigae was a welcome savory broth on a cold night, and the fried chicken’s garlic-y flavor and crunch satisfied me immensely. Would definitely recommend for a casual catch-up or even a nicer meal. They offer a unique take on some of the classics of Korean food!

My second time coming to Take31. I had to come back for the garlic chicken it was so juicy and flavorful, perfect texture. The seafood udon was delicious and creamy. My boyfriend and I talked about it all weekend. The complimentary rice cakes were delicious as well. Have not had a bad dish here!

Just came back from having dinner from here and definitely exceeded my expectations. We had the Garlic Crusts & Spicy Chicken (spicy, sweet, meaty) along with the Short Rib Chapaguri (savory, subtle and tender) and this combination was heavenly. Service was kind and quick. Will be back!

We came in during a snowy Sunday evening for dinner and were seated right away and told that there is a 2 hour seating time limit for non reservations. The server was kind, gave good recommendations not the "this is popular" kind but a legitimate "I enjoy this and recommend it". And he was right the spicy galbi stew was delicious and very flavorful. The ribs are very tender. It’s always nice when servers know what they serve and how it tastes. I also enjoyed the seafood and scallion pancakes, highly recommend!

From the swaggy music to the rustic and cozy interior, loud but just not too loud. Take 31 gives you Korean food with style. All dishes were phenomenal. The friend chicken entree was a huge portion and was delicious. The stew is perfect for 2 people and much needed on a cold day in the city. Service was quick and gave no pressure to pay the bill. If you are lucky, you may even get some rice cakes on the house to start your meal.

I had a reservation for two at 6pm, we showed up at 5:30pm and they were able to seat us early. Great food, great service. The makgeolli raspberry drink was soooo yummy. We also got the Take31 Honey pot, very sweet, very yumz

Dinner at Take31 is a cozy and delicious vibe. We got to try things off the new menu and everything was a HIT. My favorites were the: beef tartare kimbap, yuzu crab meat salad, fried sundae + rice cakes and spicy short rib w. cheese fondue. Honorable Mention: Japanese Apricot and Pome Grapefruit Jjabaegi Soju Cocktails were so refreshing.

Their chicken is always fire 👌👌👌 the spicy tofu stew also was great. I do not recommend the matcha makgeolli, that tasted VILE. Get the soju or jjabaegi instead

Amazing place. The food was incredibly delicious and arrived very quickly. The service deserves special mention: our waitress was absolutely amazing, very attentive, fast, and polite. She made the whole experience even better. Prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We truly enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Take 31 Korean Food genuinely surprised me in the best way. The space is small, but it has a cozy, welcoming vibe that immediately sets the tone for a great meal. We started with the pork belly, and it was outstanding. The pork was well-seasoned with a very natural, clean flavor—tender, soft, and cooked perfectly. Paired with the kimchi underneath, which had a slightly tangy, lightly sour note, it helped cut through the richness of the pork belly. Without that balance, the dish could’ve felt heavy on the palate, but instead, the entire flavor profile came together beautifully. The plating was also impressive; everything looked absolutely stunning when it came out. The Korean fried chicken was easily one of the best I’ve had—and I don’t say that lightly. I’ve been to many Korean spots and tried plenty of Korean fried chicken, and this one truly nailed it. Perfectly fried, incredibly crispy on the outside, and immensely juicy and tender on the inside. The texture, seasoning, and sauce were all spot on. Extremely well done. We also tried the beef ramen noodle dish. While it didn’t taste bad, it lacked seasoning and depth of flavor compared to the other dishes. Because of that, I wouldn’t recommend this particular item. Overall, Take 31 delivers excellent food with great execution, especially when it comes to their pork belly and fried chicken. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a fan of Korean cuisine.

Take31 serves up comforting Korean food in a lively Koreatown setting. The sliced pork belly looks amazing and tastes even better. It’s rich, a little sweet, and super easy to keep eating. Korean fried chicken is also a real crowd-pleaser, with a crispy outside, juicy inside, and a sticky, spicy glaze topped with crunchy garlic and chili flakes. Every bite is full of flavor. The creamy seafood udon is a nice surprise, with udon and a sauce that feel extra indulgent. Altogether, these dishes show how Take31 does a great job mixing Korean flavors with fun modern comfort food.

Food is very comforting and the perfect place for a cold winter day trying to find a place to eat at ktown when everywhere is fully booked (including this place, but the wait time was reasonable and they gave us complementary handwarmers when we had to wait outside which was so nice). The stew was very comforting and the pork belly with rice crepe and pickled radish was very creative and special. Loved how the radish was sliced to exactly the size of the pork belly, in perfect bite sized slices. The attention to detail was impressive. Service was amazing, servers were very attentive and they give complementary tteokbokki! We got our food and orders in very quickly. The atmosphere was very nice, intentional and warm, not cramped or stuffy.

Great pocha spot with delicious bites, but the standout was their housemade Makgeolli! We had their mango makgeolli, it was amazing! Definitely try it.

Really cool date spot with some really yummy Korean food. I loved the pork belly but would suggest to skip the army stew as it doesn’t have any differentiating flavors from what could be found anywhere else in ktown.

SUPER YUM! Amazing service and great ambiance, a little loud. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu— if you’re a corn lover, highly recommend the corn pancake 🤌🤌 everything was very delish, would def come back again!! :)

We ordered spicy hotpot and fried chicken. The taste of the spicy hotpot is very close to traditional Chinese flavor, rather than typical Korean spicy sauce. I like it pretty much. The fried chicken is sweet. It is good, but it’s easy to get enough with it cuz it’s really sweet. The overall experience is good.

a fun meal with good dishes to share. we had a reservation for 5:30 and there was already a line of people waiting for a table. it is a tight restaurant with limited seating, so be sure to get a reso. the best dish by far was the fried chicken with wasabi cream... the noodle dishes were also good. it wasn't the best korean/korean fusion food by any means, but everything we ordered was generally good. the only item i really did not like was the black garlic bulgogi fried rice... dry and didn't have a lot of flavor.

X
Xiao Wu

Korean street food! It’s a little pricey given the portion and the content of the dishes! We had budae jjigae which had less content than expected. The flavor was good but ramen portion was a little too small. The pork belly was a little too rich but went well with the pickled cucumber

C
Catherine Shi

It was an okay experience. So we ordered the chicken and braised pork belly, but the waiter forgot about the pork belly so we ended up waiting 40 minutes for it. Good thing the manager (I believe) was responsible and offered free dessert. The pork belly was tasty, a bit fatty but the balance between the kimchi and pork was nice. The chicken was honestly not the best I’ve had; it wasn’t bad just not as good as I expected since I kept seeing this placed hyped up on tiktok. It definitely is very busy so I recommend making a reservation to avoid waiting in line!

Friendly staff and bustling restaurant. The soju cocktail was nicely flavored and good to share for 2. We got the yuzu grapefruit cocktail. It had a nice yuzu flavored that was noticeable but not overpowering. We were pleasantly surprised with the complementary tteokbokki. Recommend the fried chicken and short rib chapaguri. Great portion for both. Fried chicken was crispy with garlicky goodness.

Really nice place to grab some Korean food. While the prices are slightly high (although normal for NY standards) the quality of the food is top-notch and the service is very fast with incredibly friendly staff. Highly recommend the pork belly wrapped in crepe and the crispy corn pancake, which is what they're known for. I also ordered the bulgogi black garlic fried rice, which tasted good but I didn't think was too special. There is also complimentary spicy rice cakes. They have some good homemade soju but the makgeolli is superb, and I must recommend it. It does get quite busy in the evenings, so I would recommend making reservations online since wait times can be as long as

Sunday brunch - the menu is creative as it incorporates Korean flavours with elements of other cultures. The Jajang macaroni was delicious and an interesting combination. The chicken skewer was flavourful, highly recommended to order as a side. The Korean rice cake and noodle in soup was my favourite, it was cooked al dente.

It was a great experience! The day was really cold, but their heat lamps were strong and the booths felt cozy. We ordered their army stew and fried chicken, received rice cakes as a complimentary app. It was very filling for two people. Service was just slightly delayed because it is outdoor dining and it was cold that day. I definitely would go back!

@lydieats 💕 Sometimes you forget how good a spot is. You get blinded by all the openings and everything new that you lose sight on the classics. Take31 is my classic. Ask any Korean in nyc and they’ll have some memory of being here. That’s how you know ☺️ I can’t say it’s always great. There are days when the food is average at best but this time was the best it has been in a long time, reminding me of why I used to like it. Pork belly in rice crepe wraps is a must. I usually go bc I’m craving this. Super tender meat cooked in a savory glaze wrapped in sweet, mochi-like wraps. The textures are super satisfying 🤤 Corn pancake is crunchy on the outside, chewy in the center, and topped with cheese. Sweet & salty just the way I like. You might not be amazed here but you’re never disappointed. Thank you Hand Hospitality for all you do for the city 🙇‍♀️

The cod roe seafood udon was incredible and so creamy!! It was my first time trying cod roe but I can't tell if I like cod rod bc I couldn't taste the difference lol. The wasabi cream chicken was pretty good but I ended up not using the cream bc I'm not a big fan of wasabi. The pork belly rice crepe wraps were decent. I was not expecting it to be sweet (bc of the injeolmi) so that threw me off but it's creative and worth a try if you like injeolmi Follow @strwbrrryboba on insta for more reviews :)

Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. I ordered the spicy short rib lasagna and the corn pancake. Maybe my expectations were just too high having heard a lot about this place on social media but the food wasn't as amazing as I expected. It was pretty good, but the lasagna was missing some saltiness/acidity and the corn pancake was too sweet for my liking (could have used some more Parmesan/breading component imo). They do give a fantastic portion of short rib though especially for the price. Also, the water jar had some mildew on the bottom which was a little unpleasant.

Went with my friends for dinner. We made a reservation and got in immediately. We sat down and got served water. It wasn’t iced or have any lemons. You can ask the server for ice and they will provide you with cups of ice and a straw. We ordered the wasabi cream chicken and the cod roe udon. The wasabi cream chicken is a 3/5 for me. It is definitely a quirky combination. The combination of a hot chicken with a cold cream felt weird in your mouth. The wasabi cream did taste like wasabi, without the burning aspect. The chicken was pretty good and decently crispy. The cod roe udon was a 4.5/5 for me. The udon had a great texture. The sauce was amazing too. The seafood was okay. There was one big shrimp and a few small shrimps. The shrimps were cooked well and not overcooked. The clams however lost points because it was sandy. It seems like they didn’t clean it well, but it didn’t affect the overall experience. Would get again but I would have to fight my wallet for it. The tteokbokki was great. It was made in house and you can smell it when you walked into the establishment. It was complementary and you can get unlimited refills. It tasted great and I suggest dipping it in the leftover sauce from the cod roe udon. Personally I would only come if I was craving the udon or introducing a friend to this place.

I would recommend the garlic chicken and roe omelette!! The vibes were nice but the lights were a bit too dim for my taste. Overall, would recommend 🤭 Only thing is that i didn’t like the pasta that much… maybe I’m just not a pasta girlie? I also think the price was interesting for 3 dishes but regardless, we had a great time!

The food is pretty good. Most them are kind of heavy though. We ordered the braised pork with rice crepe, fried chicken and corn pancake for two people. All of them are delicious, but we were not able to finish them. They also gave us a spicy rice cake as an appetizer.

T

Good filling meal! Jazzy and chic ambience. We had the crispy corn pancake, pork belly rice crepe, cod roe seafood udon and were duly impressed. Personally, the vanilla ice cream with dalgona was too sweet for me but all the dishes were innovative and fun to try!

Went here for dinner and the food was delicious! We had ordered the crispy corn pancake ( 9/10 sweet and savory), garlic crusts&spicy chickenn ( 10/10 the best thing we ordered) , short rib chapaguri ( 6/10) and korean army soup ( 7/10). The portion was relatively large for both the chicken and soup but small for other things. I would come back to try their other menu!

K
Kevin Huang

Pros: atmosphere, decoration, staff Cons: space might be tight and food isn't mind blowing. The space is well designed with cool and chic decor. The food is good. It's not the most amazing food you can get in the area but it's solid. There is definitely better fried chicken elsewhere. The braised pork, while good, is not amazing. I rather enjoyed the cod roe udon. We also got a chili cod cream stew which was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful and didn't rush us to leave when it was raining outside.

very mid for the price but been here a few times and keep coming back because it’s convenient and soup is nice probably only worth it thing is a soup thing to share and it’s nice to just sit here and talk over food but there’s definitely better food but it’s also not bad necessarily.. its good enough for us to finish it mostly every time yea and enough for us to come back every few months

The noodle was good (not sweet). The grilled pork was good, but the sauce was so sweet! WHY 😭

Overall the experience was perfect, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and good food. I think my expectation was just high when talking about Korean food, and like many reviews here mentioned, their dishes are on the sweet side. It’s worth to visit once but for a second time, it depends on preference. Every dishes we ordered were delicious but not that impressive. However my first pick is the ✨cod roe udon! Their 🍲army soup also has more ingredients compared to other places.

J
Jen W

We got lucky and scored reservations right when they opened. The garlic chicken was perfect, the right amount of crunch and a generous portion. The short rib chapaguri is an absolute must! I kept going back for more it was so good. We also tried the pork crepes, they were good but not my favorite. The white peach makgulli was really good. The place is small, so it's definitely a bit tight. Service was goos but as they picked up it slipped a bit and we had to flag someone down for a drink. I would definitely return & highly recommend trying.

J

Casual dining spot for Korean comfort food. We definitely ordered too much food for two because the portion was surprisingly big. Food was pretty decent. I love their creative take on comfort food. A must order would be their rice cake pork belly. Soft pork belly with sweet glazed and crispy edges with rice cake wrap was a mix of sweet and savory in a bite. The crispy corn pancake was also a favorite. This was crispy and buttery. The spicy soft tofu soup hotpot came in a huge pot, the broth was a bit under-seasoned for my liking. There’s always a wait in front so go early or book a table. Pricing was quite reasonable for the amount of food. We paid $75 for two person, but what we ordered could feed 3-4 people.

Overall impressed by their food and will visit again to try more. Wasabi cream chicken was very impressive. The cream is very fluffy, flavor is light, not spicy but you can still taste the wasabi. Chicken has fairly thin batter, crispy and love the sweet glaze, but I wish it is juicier. It does get oilier and heavier towards the end but still alright when eat with the wasabi cream. Buttered squid fried rice portion is pretty small. The rice was done well neither sticky nor dry. The texture is just right, flavor is buttery but overall is very light. Short rib Lasagna is very dense, heavy and flavorful (sweet and savory). Meat is very tender and break easily with light press. Need to wait about 20mins, but timing was fine after we had our other dishes. Drinks are okay, got the virgin take-it-shake-it (organce mango), very bitter and nothing mango. The yogurt signature makgulli, definitely needs to be stired well, otherwise mostly makgulli first than all yogurt at the bottom.

As a New Yorker, it’s extremely rare for me to dine at the same restaurant again; however, Take 31 is an exception; I rave about this place to my friends because of how high-quality the food and drinks are! The restaurant offers complimentary tokbokki to start; it isn’t seem too spicy for the first bite but, trust me, it’s truly good Korean spicy! I highly recommend ordering their Homemade Soju Slush; you can’t go wrong with any of the flavors - as it’s refreshing and makes good pairing with all of the main dishes. Food wise, I love their squid butter fried rice and corn pancakes. All of their soups are also yummy and make perfect portion for sharing; don’t forget to add a little spicy flavor if you can ;) Service and the waitlist to get in are efficient and fast. We just walked-in and got served after waiting for about 5 mins. However, I have to take a star off for two reasons: the bathroom and the sink need more cleaning attention; the metal spoon is too heavy for the tiny bowl that would mostly likely tip over and spill all over (happened to me). Overall, it’s a very positive dining experience for us. I would still continue to rave about the excellent food and services of Take 31 and come back next time!

L.

Food wise, this is more of a drinks + anju place than a restaurant. Had the spicy soft tofu soup, which isn’t the best quality but more appropriate as a second round after dinner. I like that they give complimentary tteokbokki instead of banchan, living up to their pocha vibes.

C
Carol

Cozy from the food to atmosphere. I’d come back again for the vibes, the food was a true 4/5 stars— average but very comforting. I’d come back solely for the corn pancake/ possibly pork belly however the complimentary tteokbokki was pretty good too. The staff were pretty attentive as well. Overall yes!

Went for a late night grub with my partner and will definitely come back. It was packed on a Wednesday night! Service was busy but available. Small space but has that perfect college comfort homey spirit. Food and drinks were delicious. Portions were large! Can't wait to come back

Went with some friends and it was great! Complimentary tteokbokki and all the food were very tasty. Service was ok but busy, we asked for a side of rice but didn't get any. The atmosphere is comfortable. A little pricey for the meal overall and I wish there were banchan or a side of rice for the meat entrees, but overall good food. Would definitely recommend getting the pong flurry (crereal milkshake) for dessert too! Bathroom review: very clean and nice-smelling bathroom with individual stalls. Soap smells good 🧼

Open for dinner, we made reservations for 5pm. Reservations are definitely recommended as the restaurant fills up pretty quickly. We were seated at our table by the courteous staff. The menu is filled with so many great dishes that it was a bit difficult to choose. We ended up ordering the Cod Roe Omelette, Braised Pork Belly, Chapguri, Bulgogi Black Garlic Fried Rice and Army Stew. The Army Stew was so rich and delicious it’s like comfort food for your soul. The Cod Roe Omelette was amazing, a definite must try! The braised pork, bulgogi rice, and chapaguri were also very flavorful. To wash it all down, we opted for the Orange Mango Soju Slushie and the Peach Makgulli. The Orange Slushie was a bit on the bitter side while the the peach makgulli was a pleasant pallet cleanser perfect for ending such a savory meal. We have been to many restaurants in KTown and I have to say, Take31 is our new favorite. We can’t wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. And the complimentary tteobokki is a nice touch. What a great meal! Daebak!

Spam & Mayo Rice Ball - 6/10 I was disappointed that the mayo was not kewpie mayo and the rice ball had such an overwhelming sesame oil flavor. I wish they were more creative with this dish. Bacon Rose Cream Pasta - 6/10 Honestly this tasted like regular spaghetti in marinara sauce. Pretty disappointed in this dish as I couldn’t really detect the rose cream. Crispy Corn Pancake - 7/10 This was the last dish to come out which was kind of confusing cause it seems to be the easiest to make. It was good but nothing that blew me away. Buttered Squid Fried Rice - 7/10 The squid was quite strange - it tasted like the peel apart asian squid snacks. This was the best entree of the night but I left the restaurant feeling unsatisfied. I’m not sure if I just did not order the right things but Take 31 was overall pretty disappointing. The drinks were much better than the food. The food wasn’t bad but for the price they were charging it just doesn’t seem justifiable.

R
Ricky Long

Service is great here. Decor is very trendy as well. However, I have to say - the seafood pancake was really disappointing since it was soggy and not crunchy enough. The most memorable dish was their garlic chicken, with actual bits of garlic served along the bottom of the box. Will visit again and hope to give it 4 stars.

This place used to be so popular few years back. Somehow it wasn’t busy when we passed by so we went with some memories. They cut down manus that I used to love so it became somehow very limited for me. We ordered the Makgeolli with chestnut but it doesn’t taste neither Makgeolli or the chestnut so we ordered the banana Makgeolli, that was great. Foods that we order was great except the rice balls with spam.

T
Thuy Vy Tran

the food was good the crispy corn pancake was so so good one hundred percent recommend. their spicy tteobokki actually had a kick to it. their stew was pretty good too except it wasn’t as hearty and warm as i thought it would be but it might’ve been because we were seated pretty close to the door and the door doesn’t totally close so the place was pretty cold. the service could’ve been better. the workers were not attentive at all. i always had to call them over they never like momentarily asked if we were okay or went to order. it was kind of really annoying.

Mid Korean food imo, but the complimentary tteokbokki is nice - Complimentary tteokbokki: Chewy and soft, not too spicy - Crispy corn pancake: Love corn, would get again - Kimbap set w/ tuna mayo, stir fried squid, and spam tartare: Didn’t really like it, rice was dry and kinda hard. Lowkey TJ’s frozen kimbap is better - Cod roe seafood udon: Standard creamy udon, pretty good - Short rib chapaguri: Good but not memorable - Vanilla ice cream: Just okay

The environment was pretty good for friends gathering. They are small plates which are good to share. Would come got the nice, but the food is heavily seasoned which can be too much and oily…

M
Maegre

I had their pork and it came oily but it was still pretty tasty. But oddly so freakin chewy compared to the normal bossam. But I finished the meal without thinking much. Went back home only to feel nauseous but I put it off because I had a long day and was pretty tired. I really felt nauseous and then felt my mouth literally salivating which means it's time for me to vomit. I'm dry heaving and gagging for hours. I didn't realize it was the food from here at first. I was sitting to see if the nausea would just pass. Nope. I VOMITED LIKE CRAZY. Threw up and the vomit residue tasted like the pork I ate. Vomit was orange which would be the color of the pork and sauce mixed together. I know it's not the food I had earlier in the day because I had a creamy pasta that was CREAM COLORED. I've never thrown up this bad that my throat hurts from the acid. Now I'm shaking writing this... I'm warning yall, go elsewhere for Korean food. No issue with service. People are very nice and clean atmosphere. This was my second time because the first time I went, everything was so good. But this second visit almost sent me to the hospital with food poisoning.

P
P P

Ordered Uber eats. Can’t believe they put normal soggy noodles in my cold noodles dish. No one does this, it should be soba noodles! And the taste is so average too. The pork belly was alright but still, will not order from this store again. In general it is a very bad experience.
