My wife and I have been coming to this location for years. We always get taken care of well by the staff here. The food, service, and atmosphere is always amazing here! We especially want to acknowledge Josh (current general manager) whom we have known for awhile and has always provided us with amazing service and care since we have been serviced by him throughout the years.
Kabuki is my favorite restaurant of all time. My perfect meal is a Mojito, with tuna and salmon sashimi, followed by a lotus on fire and a california roll. Truly delicious. I came off peak today and the service was ok and the lotus on file barely had any sauce or orange crunchies and the spicy pepper was oversized and hard (look at the photo) so probably the worst quality and experience I have ever had, but it was still yummy?
Great food at fair prices, modern vibe. Definitely recommended
Great selection of delicious sushi and other Japanese foods at a decent price in a comfortable atmosphere. Kabuki strikes a good balance between a less intimidating sushi restaurant and an "authentic" sushi restaurant by being a little of both. There are traditional sushi rolls as well as new age fusion rolls. The Kabuki roll is reliably delicious treat. Their caterpillar, spider, and dragon rolls are wonderful. If you are not in the mood for sushi, I recommend the steamed pork bun during happy hour, or the udon noodles any time of day.
Had an excellent time it was my first time at this place the wait for a table was not long and we were served in a good timely matter. All of our plates came out fast despite the place being full and everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The restaurant was clean and had a great preacefull atmosphere with the staff bieng very polite and friendly definetely coming back again.
We were starving and running around doing errands in Burbank when we noticed the Kabuki Japanese Restaurant. There was a bit of a wait to sit down at lunch time so it was a sure sign this place must be good. Only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated and then we quickly knew what we wanted to eat. The Japanese tea came nice and hot especially on a cold day. It was just the right strength as I've had it at other places before and it can be a bit grassy tasting, but this was not. It was perfect. We ordered a variety of dishes including the Miso Soup, California Rolls and Teppanyaki Chicken with rice. The Miso Soup was perfect on a cold day and it came out very quickly. Have to say the California Rolls were so fresh. Highly recommend the rolls and would order again next in the restaurant. The Teppanyaki Chicken was good but we both thought it was a bit on the salty side. We had wanted to order another Hot Green Tea but the staff seemed very busy so I think we missed the opportunity. If I had to say what was my favorite part of the experience definitely the California Rolls and sitting near the window watching all the people go by. This was a lunch menu and it had a lot of variety. It would be good to see what the dinner menu was like and next time we're in the area try the a few items from the dinner menu and hopefully be able to land a seat near the window again. It's the perfect place to people watch and enjoy a meal.
Our server/manager, Melly, was excellent! Very attentive. The happy hour food, beer and hot sake was sucu a killer deal. Last time I got sushi for so cheap was in Hawaii. Will be back, most definitely!
Well selected staff. Friendly service and fair pricing. My 5yr old son are here every Monday (or try to be!)
Great food, there are a couple servers with great energy and very welcomingwhile there's one that had a bad attitude which I'm not gonna name here. And Jimmy always goes above and beyond.
My albacore crunch roll was fresh and delicious. Would order again. I ordered pickup through Doordash and walked to pick it up.
Delicious! A nice Japanese restaurant with ample seating. I had the beef teriyaki with brown rice and it came with a salad with dressing and miso soup. Teriyaki sauce was sweet and good. The beef was good and well done, but had parts where you couldn’t chew it and swallow it smoothly. Perhaps get the chicken teriyaki or the beef sukiyaki instead, but it was still yummy!! The payment process was easy too, they did it separately if you request for it and you just scan a QR code on the receipt they give you. Completely efficient and easy, wish every restauarant did this. It was convenient and that earned the five star. Food was good!! The service was decent too.
We ordered love table dish which has combo of teriyaki bbq beef, tempura and sushi it was amazingly fresh and delicious.Their cocktails taste great to!
This spot has always been good we go as a family on Sunday’s for happy hour . My four year old loves the food especially the calamari and alaskan roll.
Food was delicious! A bit busy while there for dinner but overall service was good. Waiter was pleasant and courteous. Highly recommend it, I will definitely return!
Today, I love this place, more than ever! Marissa Buccianti was at her best, I have never had such a great customer service in my life. Beautiful welcoming smiley face, took her time to explain the menu and helped with several options. Thank you Kabuki excellent service. I would happily give 10 stars Today. Harry A.
I.made reservation for baby shower and inevitably there's last minute cancelation of some friends but the mgt. Gm joshua was very flexible to the changes and offered better area to accomodate our group. The menu had variety of choices and our server Priscilla and joshua was very knowledgeable and assured that we are getting the best food choices . Service was fast .Food tastes GREAT..I highly recommend this place it was an amazing and festive celebration in kabuki burbank thank you welll surely come back.
This is my second time dining at Kabuki! And let me tell you, it hasn’t disappointed. The food is delicious and fresh! I got the spicy seafood udon noodle, I would rate that a 10/10. I didn’t try the combination rice, my boyfriend had ordered that and by the time I wanted to try some he had finished it. The spicy garlic edamame is a 10/10. We almost ordered the House Salad, we definitely recommend that salad, super delicious, fresh, and tasty! Also their peach lemonade is good!
Drinks are very good, but that Kabuki old fashion with the black cherry, Phew! It hit different! It was very strong but that's a good thing. Fam, get the "you had me at Margarita" get xtra tajin around the rim, it takes the taste to another level. And the tokyo Mojito was very good! We were buzzed very quickly.🤣🤣 My Hunny and I eat out every week and this was on the go to list. We spent under about 80.00 with drinks included! The food was excellent!!! The Sushi and Sashimi was so fresh! And the chicken wing karaage was crispy, but juicy on the inside and also very flavorful. Our waiter Alberto was good. Overall had a great meal stellar drinks with the babe!!!
Love this place! Once been going there for years with my family. Love the happy hour as well
I recently dined at Kabuki and had an excellent experience with their sushi offerings. We started with the spicy tuna roll and California rolls, and both were incredibly fresh. The sushi was prepared with high-quality fish, and the flavors were well-balanced. The spicy tuna had the perfect kick without being overwhelming, and the California rolls were smooth and satisfying with just the right mix of ingredients. It was clear that Kabuki takes great care in crafting their sushi to ensure each bite is flavorful and enjoyable. In addition to the sushi, we also tried the chicken and beef teriyaki, and both dishes were equally impressive. The teriyaki sauce was rich and flavorful, perfectly glazing the tender pieces of meat. The chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection, while the beef was tender and packed with savory flavor. The combination of the perfectly charred meat and the sweet, tangy sauce made for a delightful dish that complemented the sushi well. Overall, my experience at Kabuki was fantastic. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, from the sushi to the teriyaki dishes. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, making it a great spot for a casual meal or special occasion. I would highly recommend Kabuki to anyone in the mood for delicious sushi and tasty Japanese dishes.
Super high quality Japanese food! The sashimi was melting in my house, highly recommend the steak and tempura too! Everything was delicious, even the drinks!
Just had dinner at Kabuki in Burbank and I'm still thinking about those rolls! 🍣 Seriously, if you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. We ordered a bunch of different rolls and every single one was incredible. The fish was super fresh, the rice was perfect, and the combinations were just chef's kiss. The staff was really friendly too, and the atmosphere is chill but still nice enough for a date night or whatever. Prices are totally reasonable for the quality you're getting. If you love good sushi, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't regret it!
🍣 Kabuki Burbank: Sushi & Happy Hour Perfection! Kabuki in Burbank is an absolute must-try for sushi lovers! The sushi is incredibly delicious and fresh. The Happy Hour is unbeatable—it's the best time to go! We especially love that some of the best sushi rolls are half-price, and the drinks are fantastic. You really can't beat a $3 beer during happy hour! The staff is always so welcoming and makes the experience even better. Highly recommend for a fantastic and affordable sushi night!
Kabuki in Burbank is my go to restaurant. It’s become our family spot. The customer service is amazing. I’m a big fan of the happy hour, it’s less crowded but the food and service are just as good. Joshua and the team are always around, making sure everything is up to standard. I totally recommend it. The food is fresh, and I always feel welcome here, which has made me a regular, usually 1 to 3 times a week.
This is not my first time at Kabuki Burbank but this is my first time writing review about this place. Food : Fish always fresh and my fav still Udon. The broth was everything! Doesn’t matter what I ordered I will always make sure I ordered Udon everytime. My husband fav was Koshu beef ( Please don’t take it off the menu again you guys it’s really good) Service : Always good and on point. Can’t complain at all. Vibe : It’s giving you modern Japanese restaurant vibe which I like. Parking : There is plenty of public parking all around,So it’s not a problem at all. They took Koshu beef off of the menu at one point,So we haven’t been there as often as we used to but now they brought it back on the menu,So let go again soon!
Kabuki has one of the best Happy Hours in Burbank. I discovered it after taking my family a few times. It’s 3-6PM every Monday-Friday. I usually sit at the bar and chat with the chefs if they aren’t slammed. A very good team and great sushi, especially for the price. I always recommend it to locals when I can.
Takeout from this place is amazing! I was staying at a nearby hotel for a business trip and ended up ordering from Kabuki twice because I loved their food so much. I'm not a fish-eater, but I loved the veggie roll (avocado, asparagus, carrots, and sprouts), the veggie fried rice (a perfect half portion), and edamame. The food always arrived on time and hot. The second night, they did run out of sparkling water but the restaurant was very accomodating.
Stumbled in here during their happy hour, which, for California, has quite good prices. The sushi was “good.” One of the rolls I had, the garlic salmon roll, was EXCELLENT. They play rather loud music, so not a place he would want to go to have a quiet conversation, but the food is good enough, the prices are pretty good, and everything else lines up.
I've been to Kabuki in Burbank a couple times and enjoyed both times. I had really great sushi and the service was amazing as well. It's a great place to try out various sushi with pictures on the menu which I love. I recommend trying out kabuki. If you've never been Ben and I will definitely be back.
Awesome food! Really excellent food and service. We had six people in our party and we tried several dishes each. Literally everything was excellent. Food was very fresh and very well prepared. Definitely some of the best sushi I've had in the past few years. We not only had sushi but also yakisoba, ramen, tempura, and other hot dishes, everything was awesome. I really can't wait to go back and have some more of this great food! Highly recommended!
It was a random place to eat but it was beautiful it happened naturally. We where seated really quick! The server took a while to get us water or ask what we wanted. But they took care of us quickly and respectfully after. I appreciate the hospitality and acknowledgment after. The sushi was amazing!!! Made my say and gave me energy. I tried the Phili roll only $7.00?! Then the California roll was delicious if you love sweat stuff crab or cream is the way to go. If not stick to spicey shrimp rolls or squid rings.
Amazing sushi. Probably best in burbank! Just had lunch and it was fabulous. Sashimi and rolls were super fresh as always. Service was flawless as well. Thank you Ronnie! Its our everyday sushi place! 5 🌟 Delicious food! Kabuki has several locations. We moved here from South Orange County. With Covid we hadn't dined our in over a year. We had only been ordering for pick up a few times in the last several months and brought home. It was still very tasty. Today's the first day that we had a chance to go in to sit in the restaurant. They're taking all the Covid precautions. We felt safe. Ronnie was our server and he was excellent! We would be sure to ask to sit in his area next time we go if hes working that day. There is nothing like having great food and great service to make date night with my husband a complete success. ;) We had the opportunity to meet the manager, Manita. She came by our table and we told her about the great food & service! She's a very nice person. Thank you Kabuki's we will be back soon! ;)
This place is good. Very friendly customer service. Food was really good. Sushi tasted fresh. I ordered spicy ramen noodles soup with chicken breast and asked for a whole egg instead of being cut in half because when they cut it in half it disintegrates in my soup and I don't like that. Egg was over-cooked for me I wish it was a little softer with a little more liquid on the yolk. Overall great service, and good food. I will definitely come back again.
Great food but the wait staff kept getting our order wrong. They seem so busy they weren't really listening. Good people though
Happy hour is a good value.
Amazing customer service. The hostesses were super kind and helped me over the phone when I messed up my online order! The Alaskan roll was delicious, and the Vegetable Tempura roll was good as well, but it was very oily (to the point that it felt gross in my mouth lol) and sloppily made. Not sure what went wrong since the Alaskan roll was so great! But would try again :)
Ordered the Dream tables which come with: chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, BBQ beef ribs, shrimp tempura roll, gyoza dumplings, & Seasonal fruit (Pineapple). This platter feeds 4 or more people. We also ordered sweet potato fries, which I normally hate, but they had a hint of sweetness and the right amount of crunch. All the options were satisfying except for the chicken. The chicken was not seasoned well and needed more teriyaki sauce. Other than that I recommend this place. If you have taken the time to look at any of these reviews you should go. The service and the atmosphere were amazing. I will go back.
My wife and I came for the happy hour and really enjoyed it. And using their happy hour, we wonder why people go to buffet restaurants. I am a big eater - and I was well fed with a bill - after taxes and before tipp of $54 for the two of us. Including two beers. Of course, it is not the Nobu - but I bet you agree that is not what one would expect from this place. The service was good - and the ambiance a tad worn. I guess I'd rather dine at the Pasadena location - just because the ambiance is more appealing. Other than that: if you have cravings for sushi and money is an issue, the happy hour (even on weekends!) is a fantastic deal.
Kabuki is a place that I have wanted to try for a while now. I am glad that I finally made it today to celebrate a belated birthday dinner for my daughter. The service was good but became less and less attentive as the meal progressed. I understand at first my wife and daughter did take some time to decide on their entrees. Yet I was kind of disappointed that we never received the gyoza that we ordered but luckily we were not charged for it. I began dinner with a nice hot oolong tea. I ordered the barbecued short ribs served over grilled onions which came with miso soup and white rice. I devoured everything and enjoyed every single bite. My wife ordered the seafood hibachi and the pumpkin soup. The soup had an amazing flavor. I didn't sample her food due to my shellfish allergy. We ended our meal with Mochi and banana tempura. Then we sat and waited, and waited but never saw our server again. Someone else eventually brought us our check. I am willing to go back hoping that the service will be better next time since I enjoyed my food so much.
The yellowtail carpaccio is delicious. The sake sangria is pretty good, but nothing overwhelming. The garlic asparagus salmon roll is good but needs more balance - less asparagus, more garlic. Philadelphia hand roll and salmon egg sushi were very good. Overall, the items are priced on the high side for what you get. Above average sushi, but not the best.
What a great place. Perfect location from where we stayed. Food was great and not to pricey. The portions was excellent and the service was great. Parking was a little hard on the weekend. No reservation, make sure come early.
I came here on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. I usually like coming here because the food and the service is usually pretty good. This time, the service was just alright, the food was barely there and did not look very appetizing, and the restroom was in desperate need of attention (The larger stall in the women's room was completely out of toilet paper and dirty). This visit was a bit disappointing!
They used to have consistently good sushi, and at least on par service. Their Kabuki Roll used to be good dish to have. Service is so so at best. Last several times we visited, never felt welcomed or appreciated as a customer. And we were smiling and polite to our servers. Their front desk is generally not friendly at all, whether we do take out or seating. We've been here multiple times and don't recall a smile or friendly hello. I generally like to leave tips for take outs too, but for this place, I don't see why I should. Servers are hit and miss too. Service in dine in experiences were not good, and made the whole dining experience below average. I've been to different branches and others seem to be better. Will not visit this particular branch again for dine in or take out.
Very slow service. Inattentive. Did not come around to ask if we wanted water. Very tasty food. Good atmosphere, but loud.
Had a nice visit with family here. The service was very nice, the food was ok, and the ambiance a bit loud. But, it is a nice restaurant in downtown town Burbank so what would you expect. All in all it was ok. I didn’t finish my food, gave it away and couldn’t eat. I wish they offered or had more veggies with your order on the menu instead all meet. That actually comes with the food. My mistake - should have asked and forgot.
Here’s the thing about Kabuki… you never know what you’re going to get. I’ve been here a couple times for work lunches and my experiences have all been completely different. Sometimes, great service and food. Other times, you’re waiting forever and getting poor service. For that, I’m giving it 3 stars.
Came here for lunch after my fiancé's graduation and the ramen could use some work. I ordered the spicy chicken ramen and the broth was nice but the noodles and chicken were very meh. The california rolls were okay and the mixed tempura could use some seasoning.
Although it looks enticing, food was very average. Service was very slow. It was Saturday night, but that was no excuse. Definitely do not order the chicken teriyaki. It was tough with fat in between layers of chicken pieces. My ultimate suggestion? Stick to the tempura or if you love sushi, go for it. But otherwise, just go to another restaurant.
Nice relaxing spot with fairly good service! I would’ve never visited before but because of a previous reviewer, I got the spicy, udon noodles with seafood and honestly it wasn’t flavorful. It was just loaded with hella Salt , Pepper (this will definitely raise your blood pressure) and spice, but nothing memorable.I was hoping for something that had hints of garlic to make it worth it. I also got the yellowtail sushi and I wouldn’t purchase either one of them again.
First off, the Staff is friendly and attentive!!! This Place is Kid friendly, I have twin 4 year old's, and the staff was super friendly to them! But... the food is just OK, to be honest. My wife & I always pass by this restaurant , and usually a line waiting outside to be seated. We always say to each other, "we need to try this restaurant". After who knows how long, we finally did. We went for a late lunch with the kids, and it was Happy Hour, not just drinks but food also. We got the kids "BEEF YAKI SOBA - japanese-style stir-fried noodles and california roll (3 pcs)" they shared. Wife and I got (Community style: we share) Sesame Chicken, Grilled Pork Belly, Pan Fried Dumplings, Tonkatsu (Breaded and Fried Pork Loin), and Wife got some sort of Avocado Sushi Rolls (I'm not into Sushi son can't reme, ber what it was). The best thing out of everything was the Sesame Chicken! The taste was a little bland on everything, i wanted some more taste out of the food, had to dip it in sauces to get flavor out of it (sauces should add to the flavor, not be the flavor of the food, in my opinion). It was OK, prices were ok, but I'm looking elsewhere for Japanese food.
It's been some time since I've gone into this place. I remember it always being consistently good which is why I'm giving the food a solid 5/5. I just don't' understand a few things. I walk in to eat something at the counter. It should be stated that the host was nice. I sat down in a spot where I knew I wouldn't be in the way or too close to others at the counter. The whole observation of courtesy thing... Anyway. I sit down and I order some sushi from the chef and I order and entree from the server. No issues there. The food tastes fine. And honestly, once you get over the fact that there's competitive bull riding competitions being televised at the sushi bar in a Japanese restaurant where you get to watch grown men voluntarily sign up to be flung from angry steers, the experience gets better. Not much better though because while you're eating you also get a server with seemingly no practical concept of personal space who sees NO issue with reaching directly over your head or across your person to get plates of food to take to other tables. Its almost as if she hadn't a care in the world that her arm was inches from my face. It's not like I'm trying to eat without being startled or uncomfortable or anything like that... I wholeheartedly regret not just asking for a table. Then I would be completely oblivious to the sushi chef who clearly preferred the idea of drinking his Starbucks frappucino that was consistently placed oddly close to where he prepped food, and watching the bull riding competition on television. Maybe If I had sat somewhere else, I would have had a fine experience just like I remember having before. Overall the food was actually pretty good. Mainly, if the server had a basic concept of personal space and actually cared to be mindful that there was literally a patron she was reaching over, I'm sure this would have been a relatively pleasant experience. This place can do better, I've seen it before.
Disgusting restaurant. Came to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately, I made the wrong choice. There was hair in the rolls we ordered. The waiter stopped coming to us when we made our comments, and the manager didn't react at all. Also, some of the dishes we ordered weren't brought to us. Everything didn't taste very good. The plates and glasses were dirty. We've been here before, and everything was up to par, but not this time. We definitely won't come again.
I usually like this place but man they have been really disappointing lately. They close suddenly and now the rolls are really sloppy. I went to pick this up during lunch and carried it home in a bag with the sushi inside a flat bottom box they provided, so I can assure you, this did not happen on transit. Grocery store sushi has looked more professional. And for the price ($1+ for each piece) I would expect better. FYI I ordered a simple California roll
Special Rolls are pretty bland. They depend on heavy non-japanese sauce mixes that resemble Mexican flavors. The fish seemed fresh, but hard to say when topped wt multiple ingredients/sauces. Thin Mushroom slices on Dynamite roll very bitter, very few tiny scallops on it. That's how they make $.
My “Tokyo Mint Mojito” tasted foul, probably because of the excessive amount of wilted mint shoved inside of it. The mixed tempura was fried in very bad quality oil and over used oil, which made my tempura very difficult to even smell. Then the ingredients used for the tempura were such poor quality! I was getting the scraps of the bottom ends of the wilted skinny green beans, my tempura was mainly batter at that point. As a grad student of CSULA i have many fond late night memories of coming to this exact location a long time ago. I came back to reminisce and enjoy late night kabuki dinner + a walk in old town pasadena… i not only was met with impatient and attitude from our server (i believe her name was Melly) but then spent $50+ on unacceptable food/service. As someone who had to work in food service to make ends meet growing up, i don’t understand how this kind of service or quality of food is acceptable to a franchise like Kabuki. No hate to this establishment, just so heartbrokenly disappointed. side note: the sushi rolls were just as yummy as i remember it, and this bad experience became a new fond memory with my partner.
This place has gone down the hole since Covid. Food is lower quality yet more expensive. Drinks are watery. Service was abysmal. Our server was a young lady who said she'd be right back for drink orders and went to chat with her friends in plain sight for over ten minutes until I had to physically flag her down. Weak drinks, fatty meat, and bad service. Won't be coming back, unfortunately.
I don't know why this place has such high reviews. The sushi is one of worst I ever had (we had spider roll and spicy tuna toll). Both were tasteless and fish was kind of stale. The ramen is just broth of spice and very basic no taste at l. The service was awful and the server got iced tea when I ordered lemonade and didn't get out octopus balls and were still charged for it. Would not recommend or return. Very bad experience.
I didn’t like the service. No one comes to you. Even don’t bring water. Then the server came to me with unsatisfied face. She didn’t even look at me. The food wasn’t good too. The worse server I’ve ever seen. No words she said to me. Just ignoring.
Ordered to go, was promised a time but told to wait when I got there. It was a good 20 min before I received my order, with an attitude. Extremely bad manners and service. Was there ever customer service training to instill customer service skills?
Food was terrific 👍. Waiter though was weird with pointing at face directly and seemed he tried to poke my tongue but I flinched lol. Don't know if some customers ditch the bill but I was rudely being stared at by other waiters like if I wasn't gonna pay as I finished and grabbed my wallet.
I ordered a total of 6 specialty rolls and 2 sides one of which was an order of sweet potato fries. I asked for extra ginger and was told I could only get 4 condiment cup so I said fine. I paid $130 which is about average. What was most disappointing was the order of $7 sweet potato fries which i will add a photo of. the sushi was ok.
The online order system here needs urgent improvement. It usually takes 45–55 minutes for an order to be prepared and then picked up by the driver, which is far too long compared to other sushi restaurants. On top of that, the orders often arrive incorrect because the driver is sometimes given food that doesn’t belong to us, which is very frustrating. We’ve even received warm sushi, which should never happen. Since the driver only took about 10 minutes to get from the restaurant to our place, the problem clearly comes from the way the orders are handled at the restaurant, perhaps they’re just sitting on the pickup desk for much more time than needed.
