Què diuen els clients de Shabu House
Shabu House is a popular hot pot spot known for its fresh meats, friendly staff (Nico, Tommy K., Judy C.), and delicious broths like spicy miso and ginger chicken. It's great for groups, but some find the all-you-can-eat option pricey and service inconsistent.

It's a rare place that can work equally well for a big group, dinner with small kids, or a casual date night. Shabu House manages to pull it off. Limited menu, but the beef fondue is excellent and the communal pot of broth makes for a fun meal.
I was in a group of about 20 people and our server was excellent. She was calm, eager to help us as best as she could, and often multi-tasked while serving our long table. She was also knowledgeable about how their menu worked and explained the process to all newcomers like myself. There were only three broths: spicy miso, ginger chicken and traditional. American style Kobe beef was often served at our table. There were seasonings, minced garlic and a fermented veggie on the table as well as freshly washed vegetables to add to the broth. One bottle of Nigira (?) sake goes a long way and definitely hit the spot. The highlight about this shabu restaurant was that there was great ventilation. I've been to two other shabu restaurants and their ventilation was very poor, so when you left the restaurant, you definitely smelled like meat and smoke. Additionally, Shabu House in Burlingame was very spacious and there was a good amount of street parking. Their music playlist was awesome too because they were hits from the 90s and 00s.
Visited the restaurant 5:30 pm Oct 26th, 2019. Received the best service I have had before from the man (wearing a black cap and yellow pant, body is thin). After asking for help for a flat tire, he actively used his own AAA card for a road service help. Thanks for his help, the tire problem is fixed.
Shabu House has best quality food. We enjoy their food for years and never get tired with it. We do almost weekly on Shabu. We also love their unagi bowels.
Good beef, absolutely good service !!!! The price is also very good, we each got 8oz of beef and a full plate of vegetable + ice cream for just $28!
Love the quality of food and the causal ambiance! The broths are flavorful and the veggie plates are very generous! For the most part, portions are pretty large and you can split it with someone. At the end of your meal they offer ice cream for dessert.
It was so great! Go with a bunch of people so everyone can share everything. I honestly choked during dinner, because it was really hot and didn't chew my food.... I threw up at the table and we all still finished our plates. 5 stars for sure!
Yummy! The all you can eat and drink deal is worth it! Food is delicious every time we go. Make sure to get reservations! They get busy fast. They accommodate walk ins but you may wait an hour or more if you don't have reservations. Green tea or red bean ice cream is included with every meal. Service is friendly and fast.
Shabu House is our favorite hot pot place. My daughter DEMANDS that we eat here every week, so this review is long overdue. We love the broths. The ginger chicken is mild but flavorful, and the spicy miso has just enough kick without frying the tastebuds. We also like that neither are herbal-y at all. Produce and meats are always fresh and good quality, and the customer service is fantastic. I'm so happy this place was able to survive through COVID. It's wonderful to see their tables full and a line out the door once again.
I don't have any pictures but the restaurant is very good. The thinly sliced meats are very tasty and the way I prefer to eat my hotpot! Theres 3 types of meat - beef, pork and lamb. I always get the all you can eat option and you get all the meat, vegetables and rice that you want. To top it off, you get ice cream included in your meal which I often am too stuffed to eat. Come give it a try.
It's all you can eat hot pot place. The veggies is great with Udine noodles. The meats is amazing. Plus it comes with dessert, ice cream. There's a meal with drinks included, too
Had dinner here as we were celebrating. Had the spicy miso and the chicken ginger broth. My partner liked the spicy miso a lot (I don't eat spicy) and I loved the chicken broth to the point of drinking it as soup. Ginger is just a hint, definitely not overpowering. For the meats we went for all beef pork and lamb, And my very favorite was the beef; he liked both beef and pork. We got 2 regulars but thought there was more than enough veggies and meat. $19.99 pp seemed fair although I'd love if it was cheaper (lunch is $16.99). AYCE is $33, which seems like a lot to me since regular or large should be enough for almost any person. The veggies includes some tofu, leaves, mushroom, and carrots. Also included is udon or rice, and green tea/red bean ice cream. I loved almost everything except for the ice cream, that I found very far from the supposed flavors. It also took forever for our pot to start boiling (didn't count but at least 10min, and we were starving) and we asked the waiter after 3min, they seemed to check on the boiler and say it was ok, but after 9min we asked again and that waiter said it was in the wrong setting...so... thanks for wasting us some time.
Great place to go to with family of friends. Staff are nice and attentive. Meats are freshly sliced. We had the spicy tonkatsu and ginger chicken broth. Good for those cold winters.

All you can eat & drink option is well worth the price. Nico our waiter was on top of our order. The food is delicious.
This place is my go to dinner place if I don’t know what to eat. I eat at this place at least twice a month. I always order ginger chicken soup, a regular beef, rice, and chicken karage. Their chicken karage is my favorite out of all places I’ve been.
If you are the SF area on business or vacation, I highly recommend this place. I’ve never experienced such a process and was blown away with the results. I have to thank Tommy K. and Judy C.! Best Japanese Fondue!
First time trying this:) Food and sake was great!

Got the all you can eat option for a party of 5. It was around 50$ per person with the tip which is quite expensive however we ate a lot of platters. Love this place but would recommend just ordering larges unless you are really hungry.
This is a go to place for myself and friends. We typically do the all you can eat hotpot, which when you go with a group of more than four people, makes dining and sharing rather easy. The service here is always great, the staff super friendly, and is always busy with guests. If doing a large party, I would recommend calling first if possible. They can easily accommodate seating for 6 without any special seating arrangements, but can seat larger parties if need be. With covid in mind, they also have a large sunroof that they ended up opening during outdoor dining only to have higher ventilation within the restaurant, which has a greater peace of mind for guests.
5 stars on everything! Our waiter and staff who helped us were so gracious with their time and patience! They kept bringing the meat which helped satisfy our huge appetites, and they cleaned up rather nicely. Bravo! We'll be back since this is my wife's favorite resto.

While I enjoyed the all you can eat option, I felt like the meat options were limited as there were just 3. Similarly, there are two sauces and three soup bases. Other Shabu places usually have 2-3X the options and it just felt repetitive half way through the meal.
Was a fun group dinner. Food was delicious and there was a great alcohol selection. It was my first time eating here so the waiter explained the process and gave great recommendations. Will definitely go back.
What's not to like about all you can eat? I like sitting at the bar for better service and the fact that each person gets their own hot pot. Nobody else's chopsticks going in my pot. :P Great for large groups as well. Just make sure you put in a reservation.
If you don't have room for all you can eat, they do just the shabu plates without the side veggies! Also has lots of TVs, which is perfect to watch NBA finals game. Feel of a sports bar with great food. The entrance is tucked away, so don't get it confused with the diner on the main corner.
Delicious food! A bit pricey but worth it. They have all you can eat and all you can drink! So take an uber so you can enjoy everything. Also, it's good to make a reservation if you are group as the place can get very busy. Looking forward tp going back!
One of my fav shabu restaurant! I consider shabu shabu as one of my comfort food. I have visited many shabu places around the peninsula, this is definitely one of the best and with the most consistent food and soup quality. We ordered a half half soup broth (spicy miso and ginger chicken). The spicy miso is nice but i wouldn't exactly call it spicy. Ordered a large Kobe beef (5/5) and regular pork (4/5). They come with a plate of vegetables (enoki mushroom, a shiitake mushroom, a tiny portion of udon noodles, carrots, lettuce and tofu. It's a decent mix and portion as a whole, sufficient for one pax. Rice is also inclusive in the set, however, they will only serve if you ask for one. Likewise, for beverage, hot green tea is also included in the price of the meal and they will only serve if you ask. The meal also comes with a scoop of ice cream at the end of your meal. Often there is a line. When you walk in, turn left and head straight to the whiteboard and write down your name, party size and preferred seating. They have table, bar and first available. Pretty glad to see you can now make a reservation via Yelp too. But this is only for party of 4 and above. Once you are signed in, decide on what you want quickly. Once you are seated and while you still have the attention of your server, place all your order. Everything will come swiftly. I see many people complaining about their service. I really don't need much service but just my dearest food. So would highly recommend that you decide asap, tell your server asap and you will be set for 75% of your dinner (asking for a drinks top up can be tough, they do get really busy) Highly recommended!
Came here for the first time last Saturday, with my hubby. It's nice to come on a cold and rainy weather... The place is pretty big, lots of seating. The staff was friendly and nice. The food was good, specially the lamb, it was quite good! The Tofu appetizer is good to, and I don't even like tofu... The prices are ok. It's not expensive nor cheap, but the food quality is good. If you like meat and to cook your food, then you'll like it!
Pricier than other AYCE hotpot places I've been to, but still very good. Service is a bit slow, but workers are nice. Our waitress helped in reducing our bill from AYCE prices to regular dinner prices because we didn't order more than 1 plate of meat or veggies. Great surprise! Thanks again for that!
Every time I come here I over eat. The food is really good.Food selection is not the biggest but if your into eating lots of tender beef or lamb, this a place you will want to try. For big groups the service is somewhat bad, but in smaller tables you will be satisfied. The kobe beef accomponied by vegetables is my favorite.
Very enjoyable hot pot place. We ordered 2 large dinner tray vs all you can eat for three people. The quality of meats was good and fresh, we picked beef and pork. Vegetables were plentiful, just wish they gave a little more udon noodles. Staff was polite and helpful. By the end of the meal, I was full and it was topped off with ice cream. Choices were mango, green tea, and red bean. I would for sure go again.
As they say. If you want to know a good restaurant, go to where the locals go, and you won't go wrong. This restaurant has very interesting and tasty food. I had to ask how the shabu is made, given that what I got was raw meat and a lot of boiling soup. The minute I was shown how it worked, it definitely became a blast. I will be looking for Shabu houses in other locations.
First time at a Japanese style fondue restaurant. My friends all referred to it as a "hot pot" where we cooked our own beef, pork, or lamb with vegetables. A few styles of oil or broth and then put the meat and vegetables in the boiling pot and in one minute, you have cooked meat. Very good deal with the all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink driver option for 44 dollars!
Expected of a Shabu place. Customers beware: entire tables must use the all you can eat option. No buts for the entire table. First plates of meat always the highest quality, so order more initially.
Shabu for two delivered via Uber eats. Portion was enough and came with side of fried chicken and rice.
Decent shabu place, parking is relatively easy on the side streets, no wait, the place is quite large. A tad on the expensive side, they however do have an all you can eat option if inclined.

The food was fantastic as well as our service. We had Shabu for 7 people . We purchased an extra plate of meat which was very fair priced. The only downside was the drink center up front. The drinks looked nothing like the board . We felt the girl may have been too inexperienced for the work she was doing.

Meat quality is very good. Vegetables are fresh. We sat at the bar. I don't understand why they don't let us control the hot pot power. They are so busy on the New Years day! The price is high and the service is not on par.
Came here on Tuesday night and didn’t need to wait for a table. We didn’t get the all you can eat option, but chose a la carte instead which ended up cheaper - the portion was pretty decent. Flavor was alright. They served red bean and green tea ice cream as free dessert.
The food itself is really good and so fresh. My kids love to go and cook their own food. I usually go early as I have 3 kids, very well behaved. I am not being biased here, if they were brats or ill behaved in public, I would be the first to say so. Nor would I take them out to a restaurant. We were one of the first people there. There was one other table with kids and this is at 5 pm, on a week night. The hostess/waiter sat us at a 2 seater table with 2 chairs pulled up on the back side of the table. So 2 of the kids couldn’t even reach the pot to cook their food. My daughter had to keep coming around the back of my son, to the side the hot pot was on to cook the food and start the whole process over again when she finished and wanted another serving. There wasn’t enough room for her to eat on that side. Also, the table was sooo far to the front right corner. In my opinion, it was very inconvenient and unnecessary since there were so many 4 top tables available. People were NOT rushing through the door that all of those tables needed to be open. I had made mention to the waitress of my disappointment in the table location, but that only fell on deaf ears. She only said “this is where they put families with kids”. Sounds like steering to me. At any rate, I am disappointed as this is one of our favorite places for hot pot. But with the situation and mindset of kids shouldn’t be seen, we will not be coming back here. If they didn’t automatically put the tip on the bill, I would have definitely docked the tip for the lack of compassion. There are plenty of other restaurants that will happily accommodate a decent table when I dine with my children out in public. PS. I usually bypass reviews that complain about service, that is why I am giving 3 stars. The food and experience is good here. But the overall dining experience didn’t sit well with me and I felt compelled to make the review as this experience ruined my view of the establishment all together.
Outrageous wait time! My party stood around for an hour even though we made a reservation. Service is pretty slow and they don't have much selection to choose from. For my pot, I split between the spicy miso and ginger chicken broth, but the food tasted the exact same no matter which side I cooked it on. I had the all-you-can-eat meal and ended up paying $40.....
Buffet was reasonably good, but prefer other local hotpot places. Meat was reasonably fresh (some frozen, some frozen). Other food was very limited: rice, udon noodles, 2 types of mushrooms, lettuce, spinach, tofu, and carrots). Only 2 types of dipping sauce. $35 for adults and $25 for kids (10% discount if you get there between 5-6).
Spicy miso broth is pretty good. Beef and pork were delicious. Wish there were more veggies, but for the price, can't complain at all. For two people, get a large and an extra meat. 30 bucks, not bad!
It was ok. Personally, Im not a fan of going out to dinner to cook...I cook EVERYDAY at home and work- I would've loved an already cooked meal so its really just a matter of personal food preferance and not about the quality of the overall experience - tbh it was more about spending time with my family!! For that- it served a very important purpose and I appreciate that- it IS actually a really nice place aesthetically

Seriously the WORSE shabu ever. The broth tastes like water. No flavor at all. And the meat was dry and powdery. Not impressed. Service was poor. Way understaffed. Had 2 girls for the entire restaurant. All this for $88. What a disappointment. Never again.
I tried the All You Can Eat option on the menu, and the first dish was decent enough, but the subsequent refills of the beef was CLEARLY different quality of meat from the initial serving. Deceitful -- not worth the money.
Oh man, this place was not super stellar by any means. The place was not crowded when we arrived, as there were only two tables seated. We were seated at a table that needed cleaning badly; like the table itself was a mess, and there was a TON of trash on the floor. We're taking used napkins, and a lot of food. It was really disgusting. When letting the wait staff know (we had to seek them out), they said they'd get someone to clean it; this should have been done before we were seated, just as a regular sanitary check. We just asked if we could move tables, and the wait staff made it seem like that was a huge pain and very inconvenient for them (keeping in mind there were plenty of tables open). We ended up helping them because it seemed to be such a big deal. Besides this, some of the wait staff didn't seem very friendly and likely shouldn't have been working that evening; the other weren't as bad, however. The food was about on par with other Shabu restaurants I've been to, but the initial ordeal with the incredibly messy table is enough to have me not want to come back again.
My recent visit to Shabu House on Paloma in Burlingame left me with mixed feelings. While the restaurant offers some redeeming qualities, there were notable drawbacks that affected the overall dining experience. Let's start with the positives. The meat quality at Shabu House was commendable. The thinly sliced beef and lamb were fresh, succulent, and added a delightful touch to the hot pot. If you are a meat enthusiast, this might be a redeeming factor for your visit. However, the same cannot be said for the overall hot pot experience. The broth lacked the depth and richness that I've come to expect from a top-tier shabu-shabu restaurant. The variety of vegetables and noodles provided were standard, nothing to write home about. It seems the focus here is more on the meat than the complete hot pot experience. The atmosphere at Shabu House is decent, with a simple and clean interior. However, it lacks the cozy ambiance that some other hot pot establishments manage to achieve. The tables are adequately spaced, providing a level of privacy, but don't expect any special decorations or a particularly memorable dining setting. Parking around Paloma Street can be described as challenging at best. Finding a spot nearby can be a time-consuming task, especially during peak hours. Be prepared for a bit of a walk if you're visiting during a busy evening. Unfortunately, the service at Shabu House left much to be desired. Our order was repeatedly confused, leading to frustration and unnecessary delays. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and the communication breakdown impacted the overall dining experience negatively. To add insult to injury, when we brought the issue to their attention, the resolution was far from satisfactory. They failed to deliver on a small Sapporo we had ordered, and their response was lackluster, leaving us feeling dissatisfied. Take note my friend have been a patron of this place for 12 years and was really upset that this was our experience. You can overlook the taste of food if the service is superb however I don't think we will come back to this place with the embarrassment that we have experienced. In conclusion, Shabu House on Paloma offers a mixed bag. If you're primarily seeking high-quality meat for your hot pot, this place might be worth a visit. However, be prepared for a less-than-perfect overall experience, with an average atmosphere, challenging parking, and a service that leaves much to be desired. Consider exploring other options in the area for a more well-rounded and enjoyable shabu-shabu experience.

The servers are the literal worst! Sucks that they’re automatically tipped for parties of 6 or more but gosh this services is horrific! I used to go when this was called Shabu House and the employees were the literal best. Now they have the most inconsiderate and annoying employees. They seems to be annoyed at every single request. I saw them take other tables orders and the eye rolls were so bivouac from every single staff. AVOID THIS PLACE! They’re such a rip off and will up charge for every single thing.
