A short drive from the San Jose Airport. Good sized parking lot. Inviting exterior. Mexican themed interior with many areas to sit inside and outside. A patio with a few tables with beautiful well maintained plants. We sat out there to enjoy our meal. Full selection of Mexican Beers and sodas. I ordered the carnitas enchilada plate. Food was served promptly with care by a very friendly staff member. Everything was hot and tasty. Carnitas were tender and seasoned to perfection. The beans and rice were good too. Staff was friendly and courteous. Food items were priced right. Will return in the near future.
Love this place. Great food, very reasonable prices, and friendly people. Awesome selection of traditional Mexican food with some vegetarian options. Only downside is it can get very crowded during lunch, from about 11 on, so show up a little before to avoid the rush. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this place.
A cultural trip to Mexico with it's unique wall art and great food. Come with hunger because you do pay for what you eat and I mean big plates. Recommended location.
Their food is amazing and so fresh. My first impression was wow why have I never been here before. Everything was made from scratch. Their service is fast and friendly and staff seems to be very well managed. A lot bigger than it seems from the outside. Dont judge a book by its cover. Do yourself a favor and try the nachos.
Best fish tacos I ever had.The fish is very soft and delicate, with mild flavor. Prices are good and outdoor seating is full of colorful plants
Really good fuss free food- we got the fish tacos and chicken super burrito. They’ve discontinued the free chips, they’re now for 2$ but definitely worth it. Everything tasted fresh.
One of my favorite Taquerias in the Bay Area. I fell in love with their nachos and whenever I'm in the area, I like to stop by for at least a taco. They recently expanded their location and I'm very happy for them. Good to know they are doing well, it's a friendly place, family owned.
A really good Mexican food with plenty of dishes an choices. Moderately price and have a very interesting interiors with all bright colors and decors on every wall. Busy during lunch hour usually and that's a good sign. You can sit inside or in the patio
I'm eating there almost every second day and the Tacos & Bortio are amazing the meat is fresh service is great and the people work there all time with a smile on their faces the place is a clean record if you are in their area for lunch and dinner
Super yummy! Great cheese enchiladas with green sauce. Fresh tasty ingredients in Taco Salad. Prices are reasonable, too!!
This place is my benchmark for good Mexican food. I honestly look forward to the beans, tortillas, chips and salsa as much as the main dishes. Been coming here since college and it's remained amazing, dare I say better. The food is top notch, the sides are top notch, and the staff is top notch. You can't order anything bad from here. It's all good
I've eaten here several times. I've had the enchiladas, tacos, and my son has had the quesadillas. All were excellent. The rice and beans were fine and the complimentary chips and salsa were great - and plentiful.
Updated review: I had written this for the wrong restaurant! The tacos here are absolutely incredible! Real authentic Mexican cuisine! Anything you get here is simply amazing! Mouth watering! Friendly staff! Quick service! Everything to write home about and recommend to your friends! They get busy around lunch time so plan accordingly! I favorite stop of mine when I’m in town!
Delicious food and healthy portion sizes! I always get the chicken enchiladas and love them every time! We've also ordered super burritos for our team and they were very good!
The service was great, and the food is delicious 😋 👌
Google thinks cafe veracruzana is Indian food it’s very good Mexican food
Went for the first time, I had the chicken albondiga soup (special of the day) and was happy as can be and enjoyed every last bit! My boyfriend had the enchiladas plate and was equally satisfied. Friendly service & they are generous with their servings and condiments. There is seating inside and out.
still one of my favorite lunch spots, close to my work, plenty of parking in the lot or the street, almost never a line, and the wait for your food is very reasonable. there is a tv to watch to keep your busy and a large window area to street watch as you eat or wait. a nice patio area if you want to get some fresh air and the employees are always super nice. the food is great, i never got a meal that i disliked, the burrito is great for the price, the tacos are delicious, the meat is seasoned very well, the soups are generous and hearty.
Love the caldo soups there
My family goes here at least 4x a month. I love this family run restaurant and I'm glad they're open for outdoor eating. Be patient as they are busy. Maybe grab some fresh Horchata or other juices, they have soda in glass bottles (always taste better in glass) and wait for your order. Patron local businesses so they don't close!
Very Authentic Mexican Food!
Amazingly quick service, even with a group of 9 at a busy dinner time. The food was done just right and the green enchiladas I had were full of flavor and just spicy enough for me to not be boring and not to spicy for cowards. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.
This place is local to us but we just tried it lately. So far have had: Chili relleno, very good. Tacos, fish and shrimp, both excellent. Enchiladas, chicken. Red sauce may be too hot for most people, green fine. Very good. Carne asada burrito, LARGE. Moderate heat, really tasty. Chips and salsa, excellent. Chips were fresh and brown, not yellow. A little more salt than usual but great. We just visited again and this time I ordered the quesadilla con camaron, which was great! I will definitely be getting that dish again.
Got 2 burritos from here one was the fish and one tripas... so freaking good!! The tripas had really great flavor!! Fish was really good as well.
Love this place, we have been coming here for years and the food and service is great along with good prices. The flavors are totally amazing, would highly recommend.
Those fish tacos were incredible! Not battered and fried; fish was flaky and delicate and delicious. Plus they have a big bottle of El Yucateco habanero sauce to make my heart sing.
amazing, authentic, delicious food, warning: huge serving size 😋
There are very few remaining restaurants that provide a good product for a good price! This place is definitely a terrific place to experience a great meal at a great price! Thank you for not getting greedy like so many other locations have around this area. That is why almost all businesses are out of business! You run a great business and the employees are very nice! Thank you!
Good inexpensive authentic food, wonderful atmosphere, and friendly staff. Clean restroom and overall facilities. Steady stream of customers. There is indoor as well as outdoor seating. It's a nice sized parking lot, but it can be crowded. Overall, I enjoyed our time there.
Neighbors recommended us here. Love the food. Love the staff, very professional. Authentic flavors. Horchata we enjoy. Seating in and some out as well. This time we were taking food home. Also recommended any of the daily specials. We've brought friends here, everyone has loved the food. Today we took home tacos al pastor, and carnitas, and enchilada.
The staff are friendly and hard-working. The free chips and salsa are great. I try many times different food here, i never be disappointed and reasonably priced too, This restaurant is on el Camino santa clara. Semi truck driver also park the truck opposite side of the restaurant on el Camino real at street. They can easily pick there food too👍
The food is delicious. The nachos were great - crispy and flavorful in each bite (thicker style chips). They also give you an extra bag of chips so if you want the freshest and crispiest you can have that with the nachos too. I also got the two taco combo which had a generous portion of rice and beans
I gave it 5 ⭐️ for the fact that it’s a place I would definitely comeback and eat at. it was good and authentic and for the people saying it’s not they are probably super they didt have ground beef lol. Had to edit my review to just say this is probably my top 5 taquerias ever. Especially around here. With so many taquerias in the area you would think there would be better competition but not even close. Don’t miss out drive here as fast as you can
I eat here pretty often and it always satisfies. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is pretty good.
I'm from OK so after visiting the Triton Museum I asked one of the ladies where to go for good Mexican food. I was referred here and holy cow we don't have anything like this back home. "Tex-Mex" isn't squat compared to the food at this locale. Service was great; check of the wide variety of hot sauces for your use; cannot recommend enough. I had the super nachos, steak. All ingredients fresh, lots of flavor and great price. Can y'all open one of these locations wayyy out in OK please?
This place is such a must for authentic homemade Mexican dishes. I felt like I was visiting Mexico the moment I walked in. The place is so vibrant and colorful, it immediately uplifts your mood! All of the staff were kind and inviting. I’m from Texas and we have tons of Mexican restaurants but this was such a nice hidden gem I came across. I’d be here once a week if I lived nearby. The portions are a decent size and the aguas frescas were delicious! If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend you give this place a shot. It will not disappoint. We ordered a chilaquiles plate and enchiladas Rojas de asada. The drinks are green agua de espinaca con piña y Jamaica (spinach pineapple & hibiscus).
This review is over due been coming here for a while for their Caldo de Rez and authentic tacos of course, But today i was craving for some shrip cocktail and a ceviche tostata.Prices are very reasonable and they have out door patio.i give them a 👍up. Update: I definitely miss this place last time i was here 5 months ago will definitely visit if i am in town.
A friend I met for lunch picked this place to eat at. I got the chicken enchiladas for $10. They came with Spanish rice, refried beans, and a bit of salad. We got chips and salsa included on the side. Sodas and other drinks are for sale in cans from a cooler. The food tasted good and filled me up. We got there at 11AM before it got crowded, service was quick and friendly. Add this place on your list of restaurants to eat at.
This is a good place but it wouldn't make my list of best in the Bay area. Very pleasant patio. I had tacos to sample the meats, carnitas was good. They have fish tacos and the fish quality was good. Salsas were a letdown, no selection.
The place was really nice - we sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. The food was good - I had a Sea Bass and a Al Pastor Taco, with rice and beans. I washed it down with a watermelon and hibiscus fresca. I'd come back and try one of their soups or burritos.
Tasty soft tacos are generously filled and the tortillas are warmed on an oiled griddle, so they're not low-fat but are very satisfying. Even a small order of two tacos was served with complimentary chips and salsa. Very inexpensive and seemingly very authentic.
I gave 4 stars for the customer service, I ordered 5 asada tacos and I have to say I’ve had better from taco trucks. The meat was too chewy (not tender at all). I felt like I had to swallow to avoid repetitive chewing. The chips were burned but they were free so gesture was nice. The Horchata was delicious!!! And the restaurant was clean and followed Covid precautions.
Very good authentic Mexican food, they have a nice patio outside. I would recommend it.
This place has everything I want in a taqueria: great value, friendly service, generous portions (except for the chips), a menu of reasonable size, refreshing salsas, and stocked with every hot sauce imaginable. The tacos (tried lengua, and al pastor) were the highlight. Shrimp burrito was well seasoned, and the shrimp were not over cooked, as so often happens. Great tostada and horchata as well. Left very satisfied and didn’t break the bank.
Chicken Tacos are really good like a 9/10. Carne Asada Tacos are like an 8. What keeps them down is the salsas are not good. They give good portions for the price. They have nice customer service. I did not like their burrito it was really plain to me.
Quaint locale. Solid food but expected my SUPER Burrito to have a lil more 'super' in it (no pico de gallo?🤔). EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE & FRIENDLINESS- genuinely happy ure there & anything to make it better for u they'll try!!! Was lil disappointed they didn't know how to remote their TVs though (PLAYOFFS?!), as game was on 1 TV in other room but right above us they couldn't 'figure it out.' (again, A+ effort though...ownership should make sure FOH knows how to use remotes since should be able to just cross chk other TV🤔). GREAT PLATES for rest of family as well ❣️
Had shrimp dish. Was a bit picante which was perfect. Gd price. Sis had tacos looked delicious. Recommend to anyone who craves Rice, beans. Did LOVE the decor! Like a 🎉 party!
The service was good, not outstanding, just good. The place looked decently clean and welcoming, and the food was good. I ordered a carne Asada plate, which came with the asada, beans, rice, vegetables, and delicious hand-made tortillas. The meal also had French fries, which I thought was a little out of place but good nonetheless. Was definitely a good experience for a lunch meal, I will be returning
Food is inexpensive and very flavorful. Horchata drinks are good. Not powdery or grainy. I had three tacos. Chicken and Steak were good. Shrimp wasn't special. Nachos were pretty flat. Heavy. Not a lot of chips. Used a fork mostly. Guacamole was good but some bank for what is was. We'll be back.
Very flavorful, good value, quick service. . Carne asada regular burrito . Overall good flavor. The salsa itself was pretty spicy but otherwise bland. The rice was delicious, carrying a lot of flavor. Maybe the best burrito rice I've had. I enjoy whole beans rather than refried, and this checked that box. The meat was disappointing - it was chopped so fine it had the texture of ground beef, which was a little off-putting. The tortilla was a little tough on the edges, as if it had been left out too long and was drying out. Complimentary limes and chips. . Takeout ordered from in store. Waited <10 minutes. 7 minute drive home. $8
This is not a fancy or friendly place, but I liked it a lot, and here's why I gave 4 stars: - Flavor in food was full. The chicken and steak in the enchiladas were well-seasoned. It's bland in most other places - Green sauce was well balanced on the Enchiladas - Service was very efficient - Portions were large with reasonable prices - Atmosphere including small outdoor area is very nice - colorful and simple
I had the chicken enchiladas, they were very tasty! A little on the spicy side for me but I have a low spice tolerance. I agree with other reviews that the beans were a bit runny but other than that the service was quick and the food was delicious! Also the chips and salsa that came with it were an added bonus but the chips were stale.
I really don't like giving out low scores in general which is why this place I gave an undeserving 3 stars. Maybe my experience wasn't the best based on the circumstances and the burrito I ordered to go during a lunch rush may not be typical of this establishment. I ordered a super burrito Al Pastor for a little less than $10. There was very little noticeable meat, mostly beans rice and lettuce with grease dripping out, which was very disappointing after waiting 25 minutes out of my 40 minutes lunch break to get it. I'd rather pay an extra $1or2 and be less fluffy filler. My advice would be to steer clear from the burritos here.
We went on a Friday night and got a range of different dishes: enchiladas, burrito, taco, and chicken platter. They were all OK. The enchiladas were the least impressive. Dry tortillas and dry grilled chicken bits inside. The refried beans are flavorless. The rice is great, and burritos were ok. The grilled chicken plate was the best and the tortilla chips were quite good. It's a beautiful restaurant with lots of colors, but the food could use some love.
I really really wanted to like this place. It has such good reviews and it always seems busy. I had high hopes. The food was alright. It was just really bland, and what seasonings were used was weird. We tried a bunch of things, crispy tacos, regular tacos, a regular burrito and super burrito. Plus the fried talapa . The only thing that was outstanding was the chips, beans and rice. The salsa was just ok. The crispy tacos were the best thing out of the bunch and even those were just ok. The meat is really strange. It seems like they use ground meat for everything. To sum it all up, it was just ok.
Came here for lunch based on the reviews. Ordered chicken enchilada plate. The restaurant was cold inside for it being 55 degrees outside. I wasn't given any chips or salsa like the reviews say they give. Plate came and I asked for chips and salsa and she said you have to order them as we charge for them!! Wth. .all the Mexican restaurants I've been too give it free. Strike 1. The enchiladas were dry and hardly had any sauce on them but were covered in cheese.. The chicken was cut in chunks and just thrown into the tortilla. So they basically made tacos rolled them and poured a little sauce on them. Strike 2. The beans, rice, and horchata were good. The main food was a disappointment. I ended up pulling the chicken out of tortilla and eating it with the beans because it was so dry....ick....will stick to going to El Pirrin by my house.
The place was very neat and clean 👌. The employees were very friendly and nice. The only thing I was disappointed with was that my enchilada was a little bit to spice 😕. Other than that it was a good place. The restroom was very nice and clean 👌 👍 I give them 5 stars for this. I may go back someday.
Waited in front of the pickup window until someone worked up the courage to talk to a non-spanish looking guy. When I got the food, I got a regular burrito instead of the super like I ordered... worse part, I do speak Spanish. Do not recommend.
I ordered the enchilada plate w red sauce, the sauce was see threw w spots of chilli, and the salad had unrecognizable ingredient. The frejoles tasted old or caned. The price was 16.00 for 3 enchiladas Not worth it. If your starving n don't care about price or quality This is your place.
Since it has such great reviews, I may give it another try. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad day. I ordered a carnitas burrito, no cheese. Servers were polite enough. What arrived was a pool of grease they attempted to contain with a soggy tortilla. It didn't taste like much, the grease stained my car seat, and it gave me indigestion for a week. Maybe something better to try next time?
Went to order chile relleno and apparently the chile been reheated for ever . It had a rubber texture hard to chew , the aguas frescas are way too sweet.
Okay restaurant but I have never got the food into my table completely cold for sure they have to work on that.
I ordered a simple steak taco waited 15 minutes and then received a taco that was full of gristle and tasted horrible. I really wanted to like this place because I can walk to it. It is the worst food at a Mexican restaurant you will ever taste.
Food was awful just didn't taste right.
Will never come here again. I waited more than 20 min for some nasty tacos. 2 Asada and 2 chorizo the Asada had nothing but fat, low quality meat, the chorizo was nit good at all. I do not recommend it to anyone 🗑
Ordered a chicken burrito and an asada plate. The burrito was anemic the flour tortilla making most of the burrito For the plate the beans were salty at almost $40 the food left a lot to be desired. When we inquired about chips and salsa we were informed it was extra and was only given out for free if the order was over $40, the asada plate doesn't come with tortillas they are $2 extra by the time we received the tortillas we were almost finished with our food. The only item I enjoyed was the orchata served in a large cup.
Find it, get there, look around but don't eat the food and turn around and go home. Food here ranks somewhere between horrible and mediocre. There isn't as much as a slight hint of authentic flavor in anything you'll find here. Food's salty as the great salt lake without water! Most cooks measure salt by kitchen tools, this place probably uses a shovel. $$ I don't know what I paid for my tacos and maybe it's better I don't know that menu has all prices redacted. I'm sure I paid too much for these, slightly larger than a silver dollar tacos. They resemble the ritz crackers children get in kindergarten. Our burrito was bland and the Quesadillas were so salty, nearly inedible.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The lady working at the register was very rude. I politely mentioned something about my food, hoping for a solution, but instead of addressing my concern, she responded angrily and said several things in a disrespectful tone. la señora que atiende es bien ruda cuando le dije algo acerca de mi comida. No tiene manera correcta de atender al cliente
Really bad. Ordered chili Relleno/enchilada plate. Everything had a burnt taste to it. That was the only flavor the food had. How can you go wrong with beans and rice? Have they ever heard of garlic and salt?
