Opinions de Layne's Chicken Fingers Central Expressway South
Extremely soft and juicy, cooked to perfection, best tenders I've ever had, pairs great with their jalapeño ranch sauce.
I recently visited Layne's for the first time, and it was a fantastic experience. The chicken tenders were perfectly crispy and juicy, and the signature sauce was a game changer. The drive thru staff were really friendly and made me feel welcome. I'll definitely be coming back!
Sauce had a nice tangy kick to it. 😋 Also they have a decent variety of shakes.
The location is exceptionally convenient, and the chicken tenders are unparalleled in quality. No one can beat their quality of Chicken.
Got spicy strips, fries and toast. Super fast service. The strips were loaded with flavor. Got 1 ranch and 1 Laynes sauce. Holy nuggets! Both were packed with so much amazing flavor, unlike any sauces from a drive thru or anywhere, really. Just next level flavors.
Very nice staff, way better than Cane’s in that they’re cheaper and can make spicy fingers
The portions were good and the chicken was hot. The fries luckwarm. It was after 11pm and the drive through was moving alone quickly. I love Laynes more than Canes because of the spicy chicken option and the various sauces and the coating on the fries.
Great price great food very kind service! The sauce is the bomb!!
Got from the drive-thru after work (I work down the street) and had NEVER been, only tried Raising Canes before, but saw that this place has a similar concept, decided to give it a try. My husband and I both loved it, we didn't know what to expect but my husband said he prefers it over Canes! He said that Laynes chicken strips actually have flavor in the batter and that it makes it taste better. I also noticed the batter had some proper seasoning and didn't just rely on sauce...speaking of sauce, wow! They have so many sauce options here!
delicious food & great customer service. the spicy tenders were bomb!
Laynes has the best chicken around period. The other guys who's name rhymes with Laynes is the worst. I can't wait until there are more locations in every city so they can enjoy the best chicken. The flavor is the great and the service is ALWAYS outstanding.
Order got lost but we came in right before a large group of 15 and a first day employee was handling our order, but it's chicken fingers and so just going up to check on it, had order nearly immediately. Food was terrific as usual. Love the spicy strips and I prefer layne's over cane's all day, always have but I'm also a day one P1 from the CS store.
Since moving here to Texas 5 years ago I have never been disappointed in any aspect by Laynes the taste and Quality exceeds its closest competitors. My favorite is the spicy tender with Laynes sauce. I’m telling you the others don’t come close in flavor. The others may be more popular brands but I’m telling you the flavors and prices are amazing you have to try it.
We usually visit after church on Sunday, Jameel has memorized our order and always has a smile on his face and a kind word to share.
I like their sauce better than Cane's. Quick service without errors!
Epic place! Very very fresh! My friend is BIG Aggie and he told me about this place 5 years ago.....I was in shock that they decided to expand/franchise. Nice move due to the fact there are so many aggies here! Service was nice, tenders are super fresh and sauce is tasty. Most def much better than all the big chains that are trying to have small feel. Really good place A+! Great job, so happy you decided to build and expand in Allen, maybe you can build one in Richardson Tx as well? But anyhow epic place get #2! And yes lemonade is super epic to!
Picked up a family meal around 5:45 pm- arrived home about 15 minutes later and it couldn’t have been more fresh and HOT! Very impressed with the quality of the Allen, Tx. Location- thank you!
Friendly staff that was helpful. The chicken (spicy) was perfect. Excellent choice for really good chicken. Missed the Diet Dr. Pepper....
The fries are nice and crisp, spicy chicken fingers are flavorful, and the atmosphere is not overwhelming.
The sauce needs more pepper to be true Layne's Sauce as I remember it from College Station, and there's about a 1 in 3 chance that they give me sweet tea instead of unsweet tea (which I guess could be considered authentic to the experience in CS lol), but the food is good. Fries are damn-near perfect.
This was our first time trying Layne's chicken. It was very good!! We were out doing errands and decided to grab some chicken fingers. We were going to go to Canes but we were really disappointed in the quality of their chicken the last time we went there. Layne's chicken was way better!! Very tasty and tender. We will be going to Layne's from now on for our chicken fix!!!
Way superior than canes, does not disappoint, perfect every time, why nobody told me about this place before, loved it, new family favorite
Great tenders and the toast tastes like home. The pricing is very reasonable too. Like 25% cheaper than it's competition.
The price was $13. I got the chicken wrap combo with 4 dipping sauces, 1 gravy, and 1 xtra piece of toast with fries and a medium sweet tea. FANTASTIC VALUE. The taste was superb, the French fries were VERY CRISPY, and the wraps were delicious, and the chicken was juicy. The sauce is better than canes sauce, and the gravy is very flavorful. I’ll be back on my next cheat day!!!!
12/10/2024 Staff could use extra courtesy and customer service training. UPDATE!!!!! 7/18/2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a difference great leadership and customer care can make! I visited Layne’s in Allen again recently, and I’m thrilled to say the experience has completely turned around — definitely a 5-star visit across the board. The food was fresh and flavorful as always, but what truly made this visit outstanding was the staff. Charmaine provided some of the best customer service I’ve experienced — attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Cedric, the manager, clearly sets the tone for excellence here. He was visible, approachable, and ensured our family felt valued and well taken care of. It’s clear this team takes pride in their work, and the improvements in service and overall atmosphere are very noticeable compared to my visit six months ago. We’ll definitely be back. Keep up the great work, Layne’s Allen team!
I can now say Laynes is better than Cane's. That is the chicken. I will give Laynes one more chance before rating the rest.
It was my first time here and it was the best experience because of Mateo. He was nice and assured that my food will be good and he didn’t lie.It was a calm nice atmosphere and the service was really good.
Most of the time, Layne's chicken is outstanding. Rare occasions, it's been under a heat lamp too long. I'd give them 4 1/2 stars. One of my favorite restaurants 😍
They have great chicken and fries. I like that they have lots of sauces to choose from compared to a certain competitor. Great service, took really good care of us.
Great service and awesome friendly owners. Reminded me of my A&M days. The sauce cannot be replicated. Chicken was on point and love my potato salad. My non Aggie, Lumberjack fiancee, was impressed for his first time eating at Layne's. This first DFW location is well managed and the decor is well done. We will be back!
I LOVE YOU GOLD TOOTHED SWEETHEART, she was an absolute angel and was so kind and accommodating. The food was out fast and so was our shake, she literally made our week. 🫶 I didn’t get to catch her name but my brother said ‘you the goat’!!! She deserves a raise and all the good things in life. Much love
We drove to the Allen location all the way from Rockwall, where we live. I’ve had Canes several times but, have really been wanting to try Laynes. Laynes did not disappoint! The food, in my opinion is so much better. The chicken is seasoned well and so crispy! Love all the variety of sauces and that there’s a spicy option for the chicken! If you’ve not been to a Laynes, go now! So good!!!
Very happy to have walked in to this amazing place today! Always drove by it and just never got the time to go in, my curiosity ended today after a delicious combo of fresh chicken fingers, perfectly cooked fries and the best buttery Texas toast I ever had! Sauce selection is great and the atmosphere is great to come alone or bring the family! If you love chicken this is gold.
It was my second time going, I took my son my daughter and nephew! I must say the service, the food, everything was great fresh food everything was great I will be back no long wait time!! The manger he was very nice to us
I love their chicken tenders (spicy) and I absolutely love their jalapeño sauce with them. I am not a French fry person, but I do eat theirs because they are always soooo crispy 😋😋😋
Best chicken house food. Great quality meat, crunchy bread, crispy fries. It's perfect even without the sauce. Then add the amazing sauce on top of amazing food. Recommend Layne's far and away above anything else out there
Their chicken has different flavor and black pepper makes it lot different than other fried chicken people are selling. Family pack is good and reasonably priced and sauces are really good.
1st time ordering from here and I am loving it!! Ordered on a whim something different and I am glad I did! Krinkle cut fries were fresh and crunchy, just right too!! The tenders, OMG the breading was delicious. The Texas toast was hot and crunchy. The variety of dipping sauces were Amazing!!! This place is incredibly better than Canes, Golden Chick or Chicken Express!!!
SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN CANES! After visiting this place, going to Cane's feels like a rip off. The chicken is so crispy and fresh and HOT! It's so rare to have food served steaming hot these days. The sauce is bomb. The fries serving size is legit and they are perfectly cooked crispy as well! I wish there was a location near me I would eat there twice a week. Please open a location in Ft. Worth! <3
Tried Laynes Chicken Fingers and it definitely lived up to the hype that i did not know existed. Was driving back to Dallas and never seen this anywhere near Dallas I had the chicken sandwich on Texas toast with bacon, cheese, and their signature sauce. The sandwich was full of flavor, and the bacon was thick and crispy—really added a nice touch. We also tried the 4-finger combo, and the chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The crinkle-cut fries were crispy without being too salty, which I really appreciated. One of the best parts is the variety of dipping sauces—they even offer a spicy option, which sets them apart from most other chicken finger spots. I will definitely be coming back ! And I recommend yall try this out !
Went today with my sister to try out this halal chicken finger spot, truly it was better than canes in my opinion. Not only was it halal but the chicken and fries were crunchier and more fresh than any i’ve eaten at a canes. The sauce is identical and just as flavorful but I would recommend trying the honey mustard as well. Cashier was very hospitable and I’ll definitely come again!
Clean restaurant with friendly employees. I got the 3 finger meal and it filled me up. I would say Laynes is better than Canes or KFC and on par with Chick Fil A - crispier with a more southern seasoning. Their Laynes sauce was delicious and better than Canes sauce. I’m not usually into French fries but their crinkle cut fries were excellent. I love the fact that they provide full size bottles of Heinz’s ketchup !!! So much better than opening a million packets 😃.
Had a great experience at Layne’s Chicken! We had to wait a little longer than usual for our order, but the staff more than made up for it by giving us extra chicken fingers — which was such a nice surprise (especially since the wait wasn’t even a big deal to us). The place was super clean, with plenty of space to sit and enjoy our food. Parking was easy with lots of spots available. The staff were friendly and welcoming — overall a solid spot for some delicious chicken and a chill dining experience. Will definitely be coming back!
Layne’s Chicken Fingers offers crispy, golden chicken that’s perfectly seasoned and paired with their signature sauce. The 5 Finger Meal with crinkle-cut fries and buttery Texas toast is a standout, providing unbeatable flavor and great value. A must-try for anyone craving comfort food in Texas! Highly recommend!
This is the place for great chicken tenders and crispy fries. Our chicken was fresh out of the fryer! The Layne’s sauce is flavorful and adds a nice peppery kick. This location was clean and staff were very friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating options. A hand-spun shake is a great way to finish your meal.
Love their food , visited the Allen location and I'm in love with it , must try secret sauce . For food reviews follow @as.clicks on instagram

I like Layne’s sauce, their fries and their strips. My husband likes they have a “naked”- no breading option. I like when they text coupons- wish they did it more.

I took my Varsity basketball team after our tournament yesterday. It’s was a lot of their first time trying Laynes. As always the food was fresh, the staff was friendly, and the wait time was very …
delicious, cannot even begin to tell you all how good this is. puts caines(i cringed typing that word) 6 feet under. laynes has my heart. also staff at this location is fun and chill
Dinner meal was excellent and chicken good however, I don't eat bread or dipping sauce and I asked them time and time NO DIPPING SAUCE OR BREAD with extra fries and they never listen

Very yummy. I tried the spicy ones and they were good. It's like a combination between Zaxby's and raising Cane's. Tea was alright, I'd rather go somewhere else for sweet tea.
Good chicken, good sauces, good fries, underwhelming bread. Standard service. Overall had a good experience here. Would come back.
Went through the drive-thru. Service was quick, and the staff was courteous. Food was delivered fast, but the quality was just average fast-food standard.
Fair prices, the naked tenders were quite chewy. The drive through people were competent and nice.
For the Aggies who missed the original Laynes Chicken from College Station, here you go. There are several in Dallas area now. The chickens are bigger and tasted fresher😄 but no potato salad😤. The store is much bigger for more seats, and it is well maintained. For non Aggies like myself, Laynes is definitely worth of going.
Great food, average service. Their bread gets cold quick, but it's great to eat before the chicken which is served very hot. Their sauce is godlike, better than any other I've ever tasted. The fries are average, on par w/ Canes. The chicken is incredible and breaded well. Overall recommended over Canes or other chicken-based restaurants. Edit 1: Going to the Laynes in CS so I will post a review for the food there and see how it stacks up.
The tenders are shrinking. The quantity stays the same but the weight is lesser. Taste is very good. Service was fast.
Been passing Laynes for about a year now and decided to stop in and check them out. I was the only one in the restaurant, so I felt like I could take my time and check out the menu. I was warmly greeted by the woman behind the counter and given some great guidance. She told me that everything is customizable, so if you don't want toast you can get extra fries or vice versa. I told her that my mom and I would be splitting a meal, so at first she recommended getting two three piece boxes as we could each get our own drink. But, I asked how much it would be for a five piece and to add three extra tenders. The latter turned out to be less expensive, so I went with that. While I waited for my food, as they make it to order, I checked out their teas. Their tea was amazing. I did a 75% unsweetened to 25% sweetend mix and it was just right. Tried the chicken tenders and fries and they were food. Definitely a good value for the price. I liked the variery of sauces (their house made sauce is the best one) and that I had the option to swap things out. Also, because it was my first time there the lady gave me all of the sauces to try.. However, the fries were a little softer than I would liked and it does very much remind me of RC--nothing really wowed me about the food. But, the tea and customer service was great!
I consider myself quite the lanes vs canes connoisseur since I went to Texas A&M and did a side by side comparison where I rated each menu item against each other. Don't be fooled thinking this is the same food at the Layne's in college station. There's no potato salad which was a big bummer, because I always liked that Layne's had that as a side instead of coleslaw (because I don't like slaw). The chicken is also different. The best way I can describe it is an in between of college station Layne's chicken and canes chicken. The breading at this Layne's is much more like canes where it's crispy and flaky as opposed to original Layne's where it's more on the chicken itself. I always liked canes chicken better, so this worked out for me here. They also have more menu options here than the college station one, I assume to appeal to people other than Aggies looking for a nostalgic dinner. The service was good, and it's nice not having to deal with the complete inconsistency in quality that the college station laynes has. Overall though it's similar enough and is a tasty meal for even those who didn't go to Texas A&M and experience the original.
Food was good. Way better than a popular place we all know that’s overly hyped, known for their chicken tenders and fries! I recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty tenders!
Nice Halal place in town . The sandwich only had chicken tenders, no sauce or lettuce, but they gave us ranch dip on the side. The fries were good, but the wrap was cold, and when we asked them to warm it up, they said they couldn't. I mean They could have at least warmed it in a microwave. Chicken tenders were really soft .Refills for cold drinks were available.
First time visiting from Oregon. Tenders were nice and crispy and the crinkle fries were crispy as well not soggy at all food was great just kind of disappointed in how big my chicken wrap was for $11 it was literally palm size. Everything was good though. Lady at the window was nice and friendly
This is our go to place when we have a need for some chicken tenders. Always hot. This last round was exceptionally juicy. And that Lanes sauce. Always get extra.

Service can improve. Cashier was not friendly at all and does not greet guests at the counter. Food was prepared quickly and was delicious! 5/5 food, but 2/5 for customer service.

Better than Raisin Canes?\n\nWe wanted to try this out after hearing people say it's better than Canes. We got 2 orders of the 3 finger combo with spicy tenders, Layne's sauce, Jalapeno Ranch sauce, …
chicken strips are tiny! Especially when you buy the 5pc meal. They look like chicken nuggets.
Tenders fresh Hot / Fries not so much \nFast service \nNice restaurant and clean \nOrdered at the drive through and the guy was kind and helpful. \n\nI would return.

I had the 3-Finger combo today. The chicken was awful! First of all none of the chicken pieces were shaped like any tenders or strips or fingers that I've ever seen. They were smallish round discs.…
I'm surprised Laynes and Cane's. ain't suing each other unless they're owned by the same owner the only difference of the fries.
The food wa good but for the price I would've expected a lot more "20 individual fries and 5 tenders" for almost $15 is a lil crazy

The last 4 visit have caused upset stomach. I do not know what changed but before then it was really good. Hopefully it goes back to whatever they were using before.
Only my 3rd time in, but this time my fries were hot but my chicken was not. I will try again in a few weeks to determine if I want to frequent this establishment.
I think the chicken is good. However, their cups need to change. Every time I order from them their drinks are constantly leaking from the top. Not sure if it’s due to the lid not having a tight fit with the cup. But this happens every time I order from them.
The fries were cold. The chicken fingers were small. It had been years since I had visited and im not sure if I would return
First time in this location. I usually go to the one in Frisco. I was in the area. Restaurant overall is fairly clean but some tables need to be wiped. Cashier was friendly and to the point. Ordered the 3 fingers combo. Did not wait long for the food to come out. Place was slow. I was disappointed with the toast. Borderline burned. Cheated me on fries. Not enough fries. Look at the picture I posted. Chicken fingers tasted good. Need to increase the fries serving. Canes give you more than double of what I got from this location. Soda machine out of ice.
ok, but it wouldn't be my first choice. \n\nthe ration of chicken to batter is off leaving too much crunchy batter and skinny white meat that has little moisture
Much like it's copycat, Cane's, but not as good. Chicken is overdone and dry, with smaller pieces. Sauces are better than Cane's, but that's not enough to recommend over other competitors. Go elsewhere.
Man.....I don't like giving bad reviews....but this place was mediocre at best. Not sure if it was the time of day...but the chicken was not great, small strips and over fried FRIES. The almost taste burnt. And the Layne's Sauce.....not good. I should of went to McDonald's. This place is on the corner of McDermott and 75.....I wish I had gone to QT.
I called the restaurant several times about the meal I got yesterday and still haven't heard back anything. I don't come here often because they don't have where I live, so every time I come here, the service and food is on point. I even tried the spicy tenders this time. My tenders were so small and cooked too long it was dried out. And my portion was enough as you can see through the plate the fries were good, just not enough. I couldn't even enjoy it, and I spent almost $20 here. I would like to hear back from somebody here at the earliest convenience.
We ordered a 3 piece and 4 piece spicy tenders combo. The fries were amazing and the sauces were good but not enough. The tenders were so tiny. Hand the size of raising canes tenders which defeats the purpose of being cheaper than canes. It's nice that they bring out the order but every single table was dirty and there was no where clean to sit so we had to wipe our own table down.
Definitely not worth returning to compared to other chicken options. The inconsistency was blatantly apparent. For example, the Texas Toast between two of us, one was perfectly toasted but it tasted like it was dropped into a salt bin butter side down, the other was not toasted enough but had a good butter flavor. They also gave one order original chicken when spicy was ordered. The lemonade was overly sweet and the sweet tea was not sweet enough. The chicken was dry and the Layne sauce felt like a modified version of another chicken institution's sauce... but not modified for the better. It was alright, just not the best. The worker seemed a bit short with us in the drive thru. We did go here at 10:45, but we wanted to go in to eat to make ordering easier with 4 of us in one vehicle, but they had the lobby closed. That was made even more inconvenient by only altering 2 orders per vehicle. Overall, just a few too many things went wrong or the food was mediocre. It was not bad by any means, but I wouldn't seek it out when visiting an area with them.
Dumped out a small cup of water and one of the young employee guys who handed us the food at the window made a nasty comment with a major additude "wow thanks for making me clean a mess" the other …
DO NOT ORDER HERE FROM DOORDASH, THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. Ordered 2 milkshakes on Feb 23rd. They told me after paying the machine was broken and refused to give any refund. DoorDash refused to offer refund as they said it was Laynes Allen fault. Made my daughter cry because of how bad their service was. The manager was very rude and refused any refund as well. Don’t order from this place unless you want to get ripped off!
The food was so bad, our chicken fingers were burnt and dry you couldn't even bite into them, fries were not good. It all looked like it was cooked then thrown back into the fryer when we ordered it. We didn't eat it and just left.
Not good, ended up spitting out more chicken than I ate… lots of bad bites of chicken as well as unpleasant tastes. This isn’t even a comparison to their competitor, it’s just what I experienced. The fries were over cooked and tasted like they were saturated in grease. Won’t make this mistake again.
I used to make a weekly trip here at this specific location. Unfortunately due to the service I received recently I felt like I should also warn others. I visited this location on 11/07/2024. I was not greeted once walked in instead everyone just stared at me. All 4 workers including the manager, did not greet or smile. I understood on the teenagers part since they are young and this is probably their first job. I still proceeded to order and pay for my food. Food came out and was not fresh. I did not feel like I should bother them as they didn’t seem to care to be there. Few days later I get an update on my Laynes charge that was $16 and some change for two 3 finger meals. The charge stated that a “Tip” had been added. I was never given the option to tip in fact I have a receipt that says there never was a tip added. My charge went from $16 to $19. Meaning whoever was at the register was giving themselves 20% gratuities without our permission. I even attempted to put my rewards phone number they did not allow me. This is very unprofessional and I hope this doesn’t happen to more people.
The pictures attached are totaled over 14 dollars. Not worth the price unfortunately. A child's meal with only 2 pieces of chicken and a few fries were over 4 dollars. The layne sauce was alright, but seemed more of a sauce you'd put on salad rather than chicken or fries. The staff seemed indifferent about their job, like they weren't all there mentally. Bored maybe ? The meal came with a drink and a large looked like a medium. The kids meal came with a juice box that was so small, it could be chugged within 2 gulps. If the food was a little cheaper, I'd give it 2 or 3 stars. But it wasn't the "almost world famous" battered chicken like they say.
The second time in 2 weeks I received the wrong order. I love the food but is frustrating when I get home and open the box to see the wrong kind of sauce, and flavor of wings.
I've never had Layne's before and thought I would give it a shot. I purchased the 5 finger meal deal and received the thinnest, most breaded pieces of dried chicken I have ever eaten. Two of these pieces had ZERO chicken on them and it was all bread. From other reviews it sounds like a common event that happens with their spicy wings. How does an employee knowingly put these pieces out for sale? Wouldn't it be better in the long run to just throw these runts away so you don't upset customers with portions? What a shame.
Since Cane's has gone downhill, I was excited to try Layne's after reading such glowing reviews. Boy did I make a huge $15 mistake! It was the worst tasting chicken I have ever had and I am probably the least picky eater ever. I bought the 5 piece spicy and every piece tasted burned & bitter and I'm not even sure it was actually spicy because there was only the slightest hint of spice every now and then. Idk if it's because it was right before closing and they had been sitting under heat lamps for hours or what, but it was not fit to be served and should have been in the trash. The fries and the toast were good, but I came for spicy chicken and that was a horrible, expensive disappointment. The sauce is Cane's sauce plus a little BBQ sauce added maybe. It's definitely not better, especially on bitter, burned chicken. And the drive thru staff weren't even friendly. No smiles or even a hi and they slammed & locked the drive thru window before I even drove away. I get that it's closing time, but I'm still a paying customer and I didn't keep you one minute past close. It was just a terrible experience all around.
The drive-through employee working around 8 PM on Friday was extremely rude and lacked basic customer service skills. The interaction was unpleasant and unprofessional. I would not recommend this location.
