Must go if you are in coopstown Amazing view and a lovely place to shop A little pricey so go out for a celebration if you are tight on the budget this would not be your place Drinks were great too try the Mingo margarita and the martinis But the food especially the seafood is amazing! We loved the coconut shrimp, clam chowder, crab cakes, Brussel sprouts and fish tacos! Our server Molly was great!
It was our first day here in Cooperstown we arrived pretty late and it was only 15 minutes before they closed We were pretty hungry because of traveling all day They were so nice and still served us a delicious meal Beautiful view of the lake wonderful customer service Nice little gift shop as well Appreciate the hospitality
Food was great. We had our service dog with us and supplied our credentials but the young gentleman host still said we had to sit outside because dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. He was very firm about this. Once we were seated the same host had to make a separate trip to our table to remind us that our dog must behave or we would have to leave. Meanwhile, our dog was laying down beside me and never made a peep and slept the whole time. After all, it is a very well trained small service dog. I did not say anything because I assumed he was a young kid who does not understand the federal service dog registry laws. I just feel the restaurant manager needs to school the young lad host.
An Unexpected Gem Worth the Journey From the moment I arrived, it was clear this was going to be more than just another dinner it was an experience. We started with the coconut shrimp, perfectly crisped with a subtly sweet and tangy dipping sauce that complemented each bite. The beet salad was a standout: vibrant, flavorful, and thoughtfully balanced. I let the dressing settle into the greens for a few minutes before diving in, and the result was nothing short of perfection. It’s the ideal appetizer to share between three guests. Next came the lobster rolls, and I was genuinely impressed overflowing with fresh, tender lobster meat, generously portioned, and paired with impeccably cooked French fries. Compared to similar offerings in Cape May, NJ, where you often receive half the portion for the same price, these were outstanding both in flavor and value. A tip for diners: request lemon or butter on the side depending on your preference, as the roll is served dry, though I found it spot-on. Our server, Renee, was exceptional attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The entire service staff maintained clean, organized tables throughout each course, a small but meaningful detail that didn’t go unnoticed. We began the evening at the bar with a cup of clam chowder, which carried a distinct and welcome smoky note. While the portion was modest, the flavor was deep and satisfying. I also sampled two cocktails: the Glimmer Glass Mist and the Almond Joy — both creative, well-balanced, and reasonably priced at just $12 each. For dessert, the coconut pound cake with vanilla ice cream and a bright raspberry sauce was the perfect ending warm, fresh, and thoughtfully plated. The only downside? No reservations during baseball season. I was advised that the dinner rush would taper off around 7 p.m., but arriving at 7:30 after a 90-minute drive still found us in a packed house. Seemed like the kids coming in after baseball were a little rowdy and possibly hungry so there was a bit of extra noise with them kind of running around and just doing their thing we get it, but there was a bunch of birthday parties(ours) made it a little difficult to have some basic conversation . While the wait was worth it, a reservation system would certainly improve the guest experience during peak times. Finally, the large gift shop — while charming — appeared underutilized. It might serve the restaurant better as an extension of the bar or additional seating area, especially given the talent and local insight of the bartenders and staff. Final Verdict: If I could award this place 10 stars, I would. From service to cuisine, everything was exceptional. A true hidden gem that I’m thrilled to have discovered — and will certainly return to.
My boyfriend was so obsessed with the burger he had that he made up come back just for the plain burger. He said, "It's a nice, juicy, 1/2 lb burger, cooked to a perfect medium. The bun is high-quality and delicious. They didn't skimp on the bun." The waterfront is also beautiful and the service very friendly. He wouldn't stop talking about how it was the best burger he's had in years. They also have cute ducks walking around. Good fried pickles & clam chowder, too! Can't miss it if you're in the area.
Luckily we came early enough we were able to get a spot directly on the water. Next time I would do one on the upper deck as I feel he would get a better View not just of the boats directly next to you. Service was very good. We did try the Cooperstown cosmopolitan and it wasn't too shabby. The lobster meal and New York strip meal was very good. I'd never had au gratin potatoes in this manner and they were not too shabby. The roasted broccoli was fantastic the asparagus that came with the lobster was a little Bland( next time we might ask for a little parmesan on it) and a little firm but still went very well with the lobster and the au gratin potatoes. This was a redo meal from our anniversary dinner at another establishment on the water that disappointed us so thankfully we were very pleased and we will definitely return.
A real find tucked away along the shore of Lake Otsego. The waitress (as all that we saw) was super friendly and efficient. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. We ordered batter fried dill pickles, fish tacos with sweet potato fries, and crab cake platter with asparagus and fries. Atmosphere was perfectly casual and charming. Seating on the patio or below next to the dock. Very scenic.
My husband and I dined here. The service was attentive and friendly. We started with crab cakes. No fake crab meat here. Yummy! Then we had a lobster roll with sweet potato fries and a Mingo steak roll (the sauce! So good!) with regular fries. Everything was fresh and delicious. The dessert was out of this world! We had the chocolate torte. To die for! We highly recommend it. I wish we had paused long enough to take a few more pictures. Compliments to the chef!!!
Arrived early on a summer Saturday eve and we were seated right away for a table of six without reservations. Yay! Service was attentive. Food arrived super fast. Food was good and well prepared but none of the meals we ordered were memorable except for the sweet potato fries. The view and atmosphere, however, is wonderful. Coconut shrimp, lobster roll, sleeping lion burger, shrimp wrap, steamed clams.
My TasteBuds and I were able to squeeze in a late in the season dinner at the Blue Mingo. The moon rose up to meet and casted a blue hue over the place and the food and I realized why the place got its name. For our appetizer we had the brussell sprouts. It was a delicious production of sweet, spicy and chared. It was topped with a green cilantro pesto sauce of type. Later, for my meal, I added salmon to a Red Beet Salad that had goat cheese and pecans. I paired it with an Argentinian Malbec. An unusual pairing for wine and fish but because malbecs are usually spicy I found that it complemented the bed of arugula in the beet salad. My taste bud opted for the salmon, coconut rice and asparagus dish. Unfortunately for us, the Blue Mingo will be closing for the season so the next time we will be able to have this tasty dish and cool setting will be next year. We gathered, we experienced, now you get to decide. #LOP
Beautiful lakeside location. We were there at dusk and they needed more lights as it got dark. Something for each table would be nice at least, if they can't do string lights anywhere per town codes or something. The food was very good and we all enjoyed our meals. The kids " buttered pasta" which isn't on the menu but an alternative option they do for kids is a huge plate. Fine for a 12 or 13 year old. Feeds two little ones for sure.
Outdoor seating with beautiful views of Lake Otsego. There is seating on the upper terrace deck & the lower patio level. Terrace deck is preferred for views & atmosphere , but we opted for lower level to avoid the wait. The lakeside cabin decor is so cute & rustic. We had Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries & fish tacos with sweet potato fries on the side. All was tasty & well prepared. The service was attentive too. There is an onsite gift shop, but the lakeside views from your table can't be beat & it's just a few minutes up the west side of the lake from Cooperstown.
On our visit to Cooperstown to enjoy a production at Glimmerglass, we had a dinner at the Blue Mingo Grill. There was a 30 minute wait so we sat at a high table in the bar room. Our waitress was Lydia. She was kind, friendly, and very attentive. I had a diet and a beer. My wife had a glass of wine. I had a house salad and chicken fingers, both were good. My wife had lobster feticinni. She did like it. It had large chunks of lobster. She took the leftovers for the next day. The restaurant is on the lake with a boat dock. The room was a bit loud. The main dining area overlooking the boat docks and the lake would have been better but I did not want to wait. I think we will come back at sometime as we go to Glimmerglass almost every year. Another shout out to Lydia, a fine waitress.
Really good lobster salad. Wide range of delectable options. Unbelievable views and we enjoyed them even with the rain! Our waitress was friendly, fantastic and accommodating. The only issue was that we had a hard time finding it! Keep driving downhill. Hope they can pat more signs!
