Hands down the best restaurant within driving distance from Rio Rancho 🙌 We drove out to Forty Nine Forty and it was 100% worth it. This was our second visit, and somehow it just keeps getting better. We chose to sit at the bar this time, which was such a vibe. The bartenders were super attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. Plus, the view into the kitchen was amazing—watching the chefs in action adds a whole new level to the experience. And the drinks? On point. 🍸 Every cocktail was balanced, smooth, and clearly made with intention. If you’re anywhere near Rio Rancho and haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and make the drive. This place is a gem and absolutely worth it.

Came here for Sunday brunch cocktails. Divine martinis. I had a lavender infused martini and my cousin had an espresso martini and we were both equally impressed. Lovely intimate atmosphere. We left like smitten kittens. Returning for dinner.

Food was so delicious and our waiter was so kind and patient! The experience was awesome itself. Price was a bit steep for portion sizes but overall the taste was amazing!

We’ve dined here for dinner and had a great experience but we got curious about their brunch menu this Sunday. I was so pleasantly surprised to see a shrimp roll with poached egg featured! It’s rare to find a perfectly poached egg around here so I hardly order it (even though they’re my favorite) but Forty Nine Forty does it right!! Close up in photos for reference;) The fries and aioli were delicious and they managed to make my son’s scrambled egg and potatoes exceptionally delicious. Can’t wait to come back.

Excellent find! We had reservations and when we arrived the hostess was very friendly and sat us at the table and said your server will be right over. We waited and no one ever came over and other tables we were getting service and no one came over to us. I was starting to wonder if we should get up and leave than a very nice gentleman came to the table and asked if we have been waiting on and we said no, he said I'm sorry and I will be right over. He was excellent! His name is Dash and was very pleasant and friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent, delicious and very flavorful. We started with the Roast Pork Belly and was very good and I ordered the flight 4940 for my dinner and my husband ordered smoked beef picanha and both meals were so yummy! The dishes were beautifully plated. Overall it was an excellent experience even with the little hiccup when we were seated. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and you won't be disappointed!

Had a marvelous brunch on a cool overcast Sunday morning. First time eating here, and I was impressed with the whole ambiance. Warmly greeted at the front. There's 3 different dining areas: the front dining area is part of a smaller morning cafe & "country store", the main dining room which has an elegant bar, & the patio outside seating. Main course: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes Ahi Tuna Poke Avocado Toast Dessert was exquisite! Key Lime Pie & Panna Cotta Will return in the near future for sure!

Great place to enjoy brunch. I enjoyed my meal but wish they had options for protein for the salads but my mom gave me some of her chicken from her chicken and waffles dish so that made it a little better. I did have a taste of the waffle as well and it was decent. My favorite part was the Olive Oil pound cake on the bakery side which was absolutely delicious. I'd like to come back and try their lunch during the week and dinner menu but over all I had a good experience. I loved the remodel and details they put into the restaurant as I remembered how it used to look when C 3s was there so kudos to the design and architect team. The friendliness and overall service was great and the owner Erin and her family are very sweet and welcoming.

@fanciescorralesnm @chef_xavi_montano I'm blown away with this meal! This new menu was a pure reflection of your heart and soul kissing each plate! The dry aged Ribeye was magical easily the best steak I've had in many years my friend! I'm so happy for Chef! You're doing amazing things there! Thank you for an amazing and flavourful experience! You're truly an amazing chef!

Everything about 4940 is extremely well thought out and executed. The market before the restaurant has unique and specialty ingredients and cookware. The ambiance of the dining area itself is classy and intimate without feeling pretentious. The plating of each dish is elegant. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food itself was really something special. We saw the chef checking every plate before it was sent out to be served and the attention to detail was evident! Every dish we tried was delicious and we are excited to come back to try new ones. After our meal, we had the pleasure of speaking with the owners who informed us of their Sunday brunch and fresh pastries. It was overall a really great dining experience and we will definitely be back.

Dropped in for Saint Paddy's Day brunch! The menu was varied, but we went for the corned beef hash. We added bacon and roasted potatoes, which were not required bc the servings were plentiful! The finish was key lime pie and Bailey's cheesecake. Both were wonderful! Service was on point, even though the restaurant was working at capacity. Coffee was luke warm, both the initial cup and the refill. I asked for a fresh cup for dessert and it was piping hot! We will be coming back again!

I really can't say enough. Every single thing about this place is on point! Chef Javi and his team execute everything flawlessly. The service team is great but ask for Kyle because he will make your whole dining experience delightful.

Alert Alert: Six-star restaurant in Corrales - seriously, we have been waiting so long for a restaurant this great. This is our second time and it's fantastic. Nothing like it in Corrales and honestly nothing like it in Albuquerque. The food is amazing but of course it is because they have Javier as their chef. And Jason is the bar chef and has some fantastic wine selections by the glass. You all know I take these reviews very seriously and you will not go wrong here - go for it and let me know.

I found this to be a pleasant and enjoyable dinning experience. I specifically appreciated the Pinion old fashioned which paired perfectly with the aged rib-eye. I tried three of their cocktails and enjoyed them all. The service was great and I would return the next time I’m in town.

Got the tasting menu last night and each course was superb! The steak was perfect and the drinks were some of the best I’ve ever had. The doughnut with the espresso cream for desert was the greatest thing in this world.

Absolutely fantastic dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set a perfect tone with its elegant decor and warm lighting. The staff was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. Each dish was a masterpiece—flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. The chef’s attention to detail was evident in every bite, and the dessert was the cherry on top of an already stellar meal. This restaurant truly offers an exceptional experience, combining outstanding food with top-notch service. Highly recommend!

My husband and I went for dinner last night for his birthday and had an amazing time. The service was great, all of the recommendations were on point. The food was the best locally we’ve had in a long time. And the cocktails were delicious! So many times I’m disappointed in the quality for the price, and this was not the case. We absolutely will be back!

Our dinner was amazing, especially the Curry Meatballs! The service was terrific! Really, everything was very, very good. The cocktails were also amazing. This was a very enjoyable experience all around, and I would highly recommend trying it out. We will most definitely return.

My family, a party of 16, celebrated my sister’s 50th birthday at Forty Nine Forty this past Saturday, and it was truly a delightful experience. The table was beautifully set, including two high chairs for the toddlers in our group, that made even the youngest of our family dinner feel especially well cared for. There was clear attention to detail throughout the entire evening. Our server, Dash, was both professional and personable. The children at our table were served when the appetizers arrived, which was incredibly considerate and appreciated. Our glasses were never empty, and we never had to ask for anything—Dash was attentive at all times, seamlessly clearing plates, refilling drinks, and keeping everything flowing smoothly. The food was incredible, and every order arrived exactly as requested. It was a wonderful evening and a perfect setting to celebrate such a special milestone. I highly recommend this venue for an extraordinary dining experience!

We were wowed by the experience! My wife had the dinner special barramundi. She loved it. I had the burger with a salad-so delicious. The server was extremely attentive and friendly. So nice. The young man who brought the dishes was on it. The bartender was beyond excellent. He came up with a delicious drink for my wife. The dessert was the perfect ending to an excellent meal and experience. We sat in the Fancies side of the restaurant and were very comfortable.

I can not speak highly enough of this restaurant. My husband and I have been multiple times, tasting their main menu (which does change with the seasons) and their tasting menu. All of the dishes are fantastic. My husband and I talk about the plates for days trying to figure out our favorite. The service is top notch. The wait staff bend over backwards to ensure you are having a good time and everything is to your liking. It's a little hard to explain, the wait staff is always there when you need them but they aren't overbearing like other places. You never feel rushed. Plus the cocktails are to die for. I want all my friends and family to try this place out. To have a restaurant like this is Corrales is a god send. I've never been to a place where I want them to take all my money.

Fiber for 16 went perfect! We asked Fancies to serve our big family and everything was perfect... the staff was awesome, the food was perfect and they delivered every meal every drink on time. The were accommodation to our infants and toddlers.

Absolutely delivered! Our server, Dash, was attentive without being overbearing — 10/10 service. Every dish was incredible, with perfect portions and amazing attention to detail. We were too full for dessert this time, but we’ll definitely be back!

We were visiting family from out of town and had a delightfully amazing meal here with a group of 6. The tasting menu was fantastic, cocktails were great…a really fab experience in small town New Mexico! Will absolutely come back.

The flavors and quality of the food were absolutely incredible. We ordered the chickpea fries, celery root tacos, the duck appetizer, & the stuffed chicken - all were fabulous dishes. The celery root tacos had flavors that were out of this world!!!! Our only qualm with the restaurant/only hesitancy to not return is that it took over 2 hours to get out 4 plates. I think they need to work on the timing of the courses/getting food out of the kitchen faster. Service was great otherwise - our waiter was awesome!

J
Jeff Dahl

Where do I start? This was a very mixed bag. We dined here with our children for an anniversary dinner. Because we were a party of six we were seated in the area where they sell foodstuffs, so it was kind of like dining in a grocery store. I would have liked a better ambience for the price you pay here. The food was very, very good for the most part. My lamb shank was excellent. My only criticism is that the grilled romaine salad was rather pedestrian. Also, they need a pastry chef. The desserts were limited in choice and pretty average. The others in my group enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was very pleasant but had way too many tables to worry about. We waited an inordinate time between our appetizers and main course (nearly an hour). For an haute cuisine meal in this price range, I will likely choose another restaurant next time as there are, overall, better options elsewhere in town.

S
Sylvia Campbell

The appetizers were great. We had the Chips and dip and pork belly. We ordered the 4940 burger, but it was undercooked and had to send back. They compensated for it though. The waitress was very nice but the wait time was long. Not her fault. I would go back.

C
Christina Hopper

Overall my husband and I enjoyed our night here but it is pretty expensive for what you get. $15 for a shrimp cocktail appetizer that was just 3 shrimp and a side of sauce and avocado. Then when ordering our mains we asked if the sides were a shareable size and were told they were, so we were very surprised when our order of asparagus came out and it was 3 spears of asparagus. For $8. The service was also pretty slow but everyone was nice when they did come over to our table. The food tasted good but I just wish there was a little more of it, or they should make it clear when you’re ordering that it’s not really a shareable portion. The atmosphere was nice and the cocktails were very good and unique but for us it wasn’t worth the cost. It’s a nice place for a date if you’re looking for something high-end and you aren’t very hungry.

We came here for my best friend’s birthday dinner. The atmosphere was very nice, and the menu had some solid offerings. I ordered the ribeye, which was cooked well and enjoyable, and we also shared the pork belly appetizer — very tasty. Our server was fantastic and provided excellent service throughout the night. Unfortunately, the cocktail experience brought the evening down. The drinks we ordered were flat and poorly made, which made it feel like the bartending staff was inexperienced. When I went to the bar to order a special cocktail for my girlfriend, the bartender was condescending and dismissive, which was disappointing. His service was honestly a 2 out of 5. Overall, the food and table service were strong, but the bar experience was not up to the same standard. We may return for a meal in Corrales again, but likely not at Forty Nine Forty.

Rogue Diner

Solid 3.5 restaurant. The wedge was pretty good. The dressing looked similar to a Caesar. It was light and did not taste nor look like every other wedge. It was quite refreshing to have that change in pace. Bang for your buck item - The pork chop was juicy, flavorful, and came with two sides. The pork chop was cooked to the desired temperature requested. There is a glaze that is drizzled on the plate which paired well with the pork chop. Haricot verts had a char to them and paired with the protein. The blue corn cake was similar to a fried piece of corn bread. The dry aged ribeye came a La carte with a price tag of 60 dollars. To me, it was over priced because the sauce over powered any flavor that one would expect a quality cut of meat to have. Also, it does not come with any sides. In addition, it was not cooked to the desired temperature i requested. I did not report this because the employees were focused on cleaning and I felt like they were ready to leave. There is a sauce and mushrooms on top of the steak which tasted well but as I stated, overpowered the main attraction. The service was okay. We were one of the last reservations. I should have cancelled the reservation and came back on another day. My guest and I felt like we were imposing on the wait staff’s opportunity to leave early. The server encouraged us to sit outside, (because they were cleaning inside) and was wishy washy when we inquired about cancelling the reservation. The server didn’t want to tell me it’s okay to leave but did not want to serve us. I can understand this feeling, I was a server in different types of restaurants. Sometimes you just want to go home. However, I ensured my guests to take their time, stayed personable, and thanked the customers for coming out. We did attempt to be personable with the server only to be met with short responses. We regretted not getting back into the vehicle and coming another time. So service paired with the steak gave this establishment a 3.5. We will try this place again because I think the vibe of the evening was not there. Maybe they should revise the later reservation time slots to avoid other guests feeling like an imposition.

Quite Overrated. The Good... My meal was terrific! The bass, with asparagus side. Amazing piece of fish! extremely well prepared! Bartenders are dialed. My Empress martini was exquisite (most elegant twist I've ever seen). Precision preparation. Well conceived wine menu, and at comparatively reasonable prices even. The Meh... Cauliflower appetizer overcooked. Tasty crispy fried shell (certainly delish), but inside was pure mush. The Poor... My mother was underwhelmed with her Ribeye Au Poivre. An oversized (and still overpriced) behemoth topped with dry, mostly flavorless, mushrooms. Nothing refined about the dish presentation at all. Looked mostly like a giant dry cow patty on the plate. Atmosphere is OK, but mostly like a wanna' be big city corporate executive destination restaurant (at least the main seating area around kitchen & bar). Pretty generic. Reminded me of my lesser favorite high-end restaurants in Seattle. Very loud: Between full house, ultra-close proximity seating, and the overloud generic house music, was very hard to carry a conversation. The Bad... Service was simply terrible! Save for the hostess and one bartender I approached to get my wine that I had been waiting for for over 10 minutes. Those two might have been the only service conscious individuals, and certainly the only two people who smiled. We waited 15 minutes after being seated before server arrived. I watched my martini warm up at the bar for over five minutes after being prepared (that sorta' drink needs to be delivered immediately); and, again, wine I ordered specifically to go with my main course was never delivered (until I approached the bar to ask for it). The general attitude of most staff, particularly leadership, was seemingly self-important, over serious, and arrogant. Lighten up yo'! Noteworthy: Poor form that no vegetarian main course options were offered on the menu. All in all, made for a pretty lackluster Mother's Day dinner.

We went for brunch, granted, not dinner. Overall. We thought this was okay. The service was hit and miss and our waitress was very busy. Granted. Overall, though, I wouldn't have expected the food to be better based on the reviews and the intention of the restaurant. My partner had the ahi tuna avocado toast and it seemed like it had an extraordinary amount of mayonnaise like dressing on top of it which made it almost inedible for her. I had the shrimp roll which overall was tasty but not not. Super flavorful. I definitely want to try this place for dinner but was overall disappointed with our first experience there. We were also a little disappointed that most of the dishes had beef as the protein and no other real options other than that. I would have liked a little better options for vegetarians or non-beef eaters . Our Mimosa was outstanding and definitely want to try their cocktails another time.

I wish it was better. I made reservations a few weeks ago through Open Table and then I called because I didn’t get an email about it. I spoke to a women, made the reservation, and we even discussed we were celebrating a birthday. However, when we arrived there was no reservation!! 😮 We were seated out in the patio which was lovely but the metal chairs were awful and uncomfortable. The kind of discomfort that makes you think they want you to eat and run. There were 4 people. We started with Root Tacos. The celery root was inedible. Every plate had the celery root uneaten but the tacos were delicious anyways. Disappointing. We ordered a salad, only one, it looked beautiful and it tasted good but it could’ve used a sweet element like blueberries or candied nuts. There were edible fresh flowers that made the plate look so pretty. Aside from the flowers it was just Spring mix & dressing for $16. For dinner we ordered Sea bass, stuffed chicken breast, the blueberry infused pasta, and a rib eye. The sea bass was mostly good. The chicken was delish on first bite, but as it turned to room temperature it ended up being dry and only half was eaten. The infused pasta sounded good but it was just okay, most of it left uneaten. The Ribeye was a big hit! Medium rare, which is closer to rare than medium. The entire plate was the best choice! We were celebrating a birthday and agreed on the sounded delicious very chocolate cake. IT WAS SO DRY, AND THE CAKE TASTED LIKE NOTHING, WHICH SEEMED TO THE LEFT PIECE FROM THE CAKE THAT WAS MADE YESTERDAY. It was so disappointing that there were four people and we left have the piece. We each had a cocktail, a 2 people had a glass of wine. The bill was $370, with tip it was $440. When the food is an experience, the money doesn’t matter. This dinner was more of a flop than a meal to rave about. We discussed how many other things we could’ve bought for $440, like plane ticket, it was a huge disappointment for 2 out of 4.

When they first opened, menu was cohesive, staff was superb. Now, their menu mashed no sense, they've fallen into the NM trap of putting chile on everything for no reason and their desserts are horrific. The coconut cake was so dry and tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge for a week, the basque cheese was also dry. The menu lacks cohesiveness and is just not good. New waiters have no idea what their doing and their timing is terrible because of it. I don't forseeus coming back for awhile unless something changes. .

Karishma Bansal

We had the tasting menu and I would rate the rate the food 7/10. Starter and main course were pretty good. The salad was too bitter for us. I was dissatisfied with my dessert, it wasn’t bad tasting but I found it extremely generic for it to be on a tasting menu. Plus the restaurant was so cold to relax, I wish they had some heating.

B
Ben

Food was great - did the tasting menu and sat outside on the patio. Just have two critiques. 1. Please get ad free music... we were hearing commercials on the music every other song- was an easy way to kill the mood. 2. Servers need better wine education. They had very little clue when asked about wine recommendations. Just went down the entire list saying "its all great" which isn't a great sign haha. They should know which wines pair well with the food selection based on fat content as well as acidity. The bisque needed something acidic in it to balance out how salty it was (balsamic glaze drizzled on top would be fantastic) Other than those two things we had a great experience.

M
Miles Harvey

Expectations were high. Restaurants in the area are amazing, and I was looking forward to an epic night of dining with my family. We sat on the patio for a sunset dinner. The whole experience was sub par and everything from the lackluster cocktails, over priced food, and mediocre tasting food and proportions were just some of the reasons for a 2 star review. Even our server was just not in a good mood. I ordered the Wagu Tri Tip and it was minimal and unimpressive for $45, especially for waiting 45 mins for the order to come to the table. I went in a larger party of 6, and everyone else felt the same way about the experience. Our meal came out to $493 and to be honest, that’s just not worth what we got. I probably won’t be back unless I’m invited to meet others for a birthday or something.

G
Gabrielle Sanchez

We waited over 30 minutes to order. It’s like we didn’t exist. Poor service. Drink was good but unlikely we’ll return or recommend. They were out of a side that I tried to order. Also they make you order everything at one time. Which if you’re waiting 30 minutes to order would have been nice to have something hold us over. Appetizer was super salty. An hour later and still no main entrees. Once entrees did arrive they were also salty and were again out of a side that they didn’t tell me about. Disappointed.

F

Went here for Valentine’s Day and was going in with decently high expectations. I’ve heard good things but unfortunately was quite disappointed. Starting with the atmosphere, I’m sure it was because it was a busy night and they needed extra seating but I was not expecting to sit next to the hostess stand in their coffee shop area. Ambiance goes hand in hand with a high quality meal and didn’t enjoy the groups of people at the door watching us eat as they waited. Next, service and food. I ordered the special that was not on the menu and was very excited for it. However the food itself took around 45 minutes to come out after our first course. Once the food came out I tried it and it was extremely salty. I truly wanted to send it back but our waitress took a very long time to make her round back to the table and I did not want to wait another 45 for my meal to be made again. If we were seated in an area where other employees or tables were I would have been able to reach out about this issue. I truly felt bad for my boyfriend as he wanted to have a great valentines dinner but had to end up paying a high price for a low quality experience.

B
Becky Hoggatt

We had a date night there last night and we have been here multiple times. The seating was really close to other people so it was difficult to have a conversation. I also was freezing because the breeze from the market area, they had the door open. The drinks were amazing and the appetizer was good. However, when they brought our salads mine, the Waldorf salad, it had a whitish/gray hair in it. I completely lost my appetite. I know stuff like that happens so I didn't make a huge fuss. The waiter was nice enough and said sorry and offered to bring another but I couldn't eat. He did take it off our ticket. I wish I had cancelled the rest of my order because I couldn't bring myself to eat the main course. I ended up taking it home and probably will not eat it. The prices are not cheap so I spent a lot of money on food I couldn't eat.

F
Francesca Bellamy

I’ve now given this restaurant three chances, and unfortunately this will be my last visit. Each time, I’ve left disappointed, and last night sealed it. We ordered the burrata and beet starters, but both were poorly executed. The burrata was filled with strange savory nuts that clashed with the creamy cheese, and both dishes had wiry greens that were unpleasant to eat and added no flavor. The eggplant was overwhelmingly salty, while the chicken Kiev lacked any seasoning at all; a huge, bland piece of chicken on a small bed of creamed spinach. Desserts were just as problematic. A whoopie pie was mistakenly brought out with our meal. We mistook it for bread service because it had no sweetness at all. The blackout cake looked dramatic but was extremely dry. Nothing felt cohesive, flavorful, or satisfying. This follows my second visit, when we waited 45 minutes for sea bass that arrived cold. Add in a $200 bill and a server overselling every dish, and it’s hard not to feel frustrated. The restaurant doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. Some dishes are trying for fine dining, others feel casual, but none of it comes together in a way that makes sense. I love supporting local spots, but after three chances, I can’t justify coming back.

Shocking experience!! I made a reservation for my out of town guests/family to have a date night at Forty Nine Forty at 5:30pm on Saturday, December 20th. The plan was for my husband and I to meet up with them after their dinner to have a drink and dessert together. When we arrived around 7:00pm, they had not received their entrees yet!! It was not busy at all when they arrived at 5:30pm and not extremely busy when we arrived at 7:00pm. We continued to wait with them for another 45 minutes or so, and NO entrees came!! They had ordered a burger and a pasta dish. Nothing that should take 2 hours!! Meanwhile, people around them, who arrived after them, received their food, desserts, etc. and left. They had checked in multiple times with the server, yet still, no entrees! Eventually, around 8:00pm, they had to tell the server never mind on the entrees, because they had to get back to their 2 toddlers. This restaurant had the audacity to charge them for drinks, bread, and salad! Are you kidding me?? Everything should have been comped in this situation- They never received their dinner!! I do not understand this and it’s completely unacceptable. I sent my family here to have delicious food and a good experience, as my husband and I live in Corrales and have dined at Forty Nine Forty multiple times in the past, and have thought very highly of it. After this experience, I’m unsure if I will return. Such a shame.
