I was here for lunchtime and luckily before the lunch crowd I and my colleague were here so it was a very timely order that we placed. Here you order first and when they call you get your food and bring it to your table to eat. The service was great and the food was delicious.
Easterly serves authentic Hunan style dishes. My kids favorite dish is Griddled egg Tofu with minced pork. My wife's favorite dish is Stir fried beef with pepper. They never let us down. The price has increased somewhat during the pandemic. But it's OK. The price of each dish is now around $20.
Very good spicy food. Authentic Hunanese tastes. I usually ordered pickup 1-2 times a week.
One of my favorite Hunan restaurants here. Another favorite one is Hunan Impression. Love their soup.
The sweet buns and the string beans were amazing! The staff is super nice and welcoming as well. They are quite accommodating with dietary restrictions like being vegetarian as well.
It's a great restaurant for Human cuisine. It offers non-hot and spicy option for people cannot take spicy food. Their fish is great and very fresh. I also enjoyed their Coconut chicken soup. The waitress is very nice and patient. Will become a regular for this restaurant.
it was my first time here and I absolutely enjoyed the food so much that I’ve had to bring on all my friends here the duck neck was by far the yummiest thing I’ve tried. My order is mongolian beef, white broccoli, shrimp chow main, cabbage, duck neck and the rice!!!
When we entered, there was not many people dining. The food was very spicy but they have no spicy or less spicy options as well. Service was very quick, the food arrive in less than five minutes and they even cooked the coconut chicken on our table! The place was very clean the whole time. The only bad thing I found was the coconut chicken was quite boney. But overall this experience was great and I would love to come back.
This is my best meal at the moment! My friend and I arrived at the restaurant at six o'clock in the afternoon. There were no guests here, and we were seated quickly. It's clean and bright here. The waiters all wear masks, clean tabletops, disposable water cups, dishes and chopsticks are clean, and the hygiene is super good! The food was served quickly, and the waiters were very enthusiastic. All the dishes we ordered were very spicy, and every dish tasted delicious. During the meal, the waiter also changed the plates for us once, which is so sweet! Highly recommended! Delicious dishes, excellent service! However, remind everyone that if you can't eat spicy food, you must tell the waiter in advance that their food is really spicy! Ha ha ... But I like it!
I just absolutely love Easterly Cupertino. My favorite dish is “spicy intestine dry pot” (photo 4), the owner told us to try their stir fried version (photo 3) and we absolutely love it! We tried multiple things including green beans, asparagus and meatball , we love them all! The dining experience is also pleasant, the waiter and chief are so friendly. Highly recommended!
Clean and nice place. I just came back from eating at this place. The food was delicious, I really recommend the fillet fish with cabbage(I ordered non spicy, the spicy one maybe better), the cauliflower with pork belly was very good too. And there are perfect services!
Super authentic Chinese food! It’s my no. 1 choice for stir-fry dishes. Plenty choices of spicy food and healthy veggies. The spicy level is also adjustable.
Ok if you like authentic spicy Chinese Hunan cuisine, this is the place! Food is quick, great cooking skills, wholesome garlic and spices that is truly authentic! Very unique stir fried eggplants dish, stewed pork, string beans. and sliced pork rice noodles!
I think this is the only restaurant in the South Bay that has coconut chicken hot pot? Super authentic - they put the water of two coconuts and one bottle of water into the pot in front of you. Will come again for the hotpot.

Very flavorful food. It's priced like a nice restaurant but the interior doesn't feel as pricey. Food is great and the atmosphere is decent.
Great tasting food, Reminded me as if I were actually in China. The service was a little bit long but it was worth the wait, the flavors were intense.
Update: now they are on grand opening, steamed rib with rice is as good as it can get. Service is good and fast. Come here at soft open, very good spicy fish fillet Hunan style, but few chefs special was not there. Other dishes are almost the same as the one at Santa Clara.
Easterly is a well-known Hunan-style Chinese restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area, with three locations around the region. We heard that this branch was recently renovated and has brought in top Sichuan and Hunan chefs, so we decided to give it a try. Overall, the quality of the dishes was top-notch. We did wait a little over 20 minutes for the first dish to arrive, but the owner explained that the chef prefers to cook everything from scratch to ensure quality. Personally, we’d much rather wait than be served pre-made dishes. We especially loved the triple-color eggplant and the pepper-fried cod. The duck soup was also excellent, though unfortunately we forgot to take a photo. Given how competitive this area is, with so many excellent Chinese restaurants nearby, we hope they continue to maintain this high standard. We’ve definitely marked this spot as one of our favorites on Google Maps and look forward to coming back.
Good to go with a large party; the dishes are very shareable. You order on the pad and the dishes come out almost instantaneously as soon as you click the send button. There's a lot of specialties dishes; snails, frog legs, offals, chicken legs with very unique vegetable combos and sauces hard to find elsewhere. However, I find a lot of them too saucy and goopy. You simply must order rice to do it right. I like the clear broth soups. Btw, you can order a simple but large bowl of just soup noodles with some vegetables for just $3.50. (Please see attached photo.) Other winners are the duck innards and the bamboo chicken.
A family style restaurant. We came here for the coconut chicken. It's worth noting that aside from pure coconut water, there are also red date and goji. If you want the authentic coconut chicken, this may not be what you want.
Easterly is famous for their Hunan cuisine, and as such, most of the dishes are spicy. But there are also some that are not spicy at all. And you could always request to make it milder. They have stores in Berkeley, Santa Clara, and this one in Cupertino. Even though on the menu and on the wall they say there is one in Fremont, but in fact it is still pending and not opened yet. We had good experience with the one in Santa Clara, but the beef noodle soup (H1 牛腩手工麵) was disappointing - the beef was too chewy and the amount is too small for $15.99.
Easterly has spicy hunan cuisine, but the have choices with low spice levels. Try the lotus, string mushroom, and tofu dishes, all great. The chicken with green peppers is super hot but delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed cucumbers with garlic and oil, excellent. The staff at Easterly is super friendly, and attentive. The food comes out fast, you won't be hungry long.
We enjoyed all the food we had. The sticky rice with rib and corn are my favorite. The kabocha cakes are very good! The cauliflower even though came into the table really late, is delicious! The complimentary drink for serving dishes very late is also very tasty. After we finished all the drink, the food were still not ready!! I guess we came at a bad time - lunch at Thanksgiving, so there probably was a shortage of chefs on that day...
Decent, authentic food, reasonable pricing, normal service. Pretty packed around 6pm, you should be able to find parking here. Food was a bit slow to arrive, took about 25 minutes for the first dish and 30 for the second. Good amount of seating. Other than wait time, no complaints.
This was pretty good Chinese food. The portions are quite big and rather family size.
Coconut chicken recommendations 絲瓜is good 👍 beef is spicy

I really like the food here, it is always delicious and well prepared. I usually order takeout, and the experience is generally smooth. However, one thing to be aware of is that they automatically add a tip to takeout orders. I can’t remember the exact percentage, but it’s at least 10%. You have to manually adjust or remove the tip if you don’t want to include it, which isn’t always obvious. If you are in a rush or not paying attention, you might end up tipping for takeout without realizing it. Just something to keep in mind when ordering!

Food is okay but the wait time is rediculous...I ordered online and was told 40min later (when I arrived for pickup) that one of the dish was sold out and need replacement, which is okay, then I waited another 30min, not for the replacement, but for another dish that was supposed to be ready in the first place! Terrible experience, donno why they would only start cooking when it's supposed to be picked up...
Good food though way too salty. Service was very slow as she was alone serving quite a lot of patrons.
The taste is fine. But the portion is small. I ordered the smoked ham with dried radish, I only found less than handful pieces of ham, very thinly cut meat, the rest are all radish. I also ordered 擂辣椒茄子皮蛋Smashed Green Pepper, Chinese Eggplant & Preserved Egg, it is a bit too spicy. Not worth the money $46 for two dishes. In general I don't leave negative comment, but I am from Hunan. I am a bit picky when it comes to my hometown dishes. LOL
Update in 2021: not so crowded any more. Still taste good, still pricey. Portion is too small. Genuine Hunan cuisine. Similar to the other ones in the same area. Recently opened. Super busy in the weekend. Queuing system is a bit messy. Lunch time is good though.
Green pepper with pork was very good! But the braised pork belly was very disappointing. The dish looks nothing like the picture, and the meat was dry. The cauliflower was too crunchy for me and it lacked flavor. And this place is pretty pricey.

Too oily food, very little protein for the cost.
Maybe this style of Chinese cuisine isn't for us as all 3 of us found each dish, though fresh & hot, very subpar, flavorless, almost bitter. It's like they are ever so carefully saving each granule of sugar, an essential flavor profile. We don't even like sweet meals, but you have to use a tiny bit of sugar to bring out the other flavors. Also missing = any kind of umame. Even though service was very good, no to revisiting this restaurant.
Overall the service was pleasant during our visit. The food was much oilier than expected. The fish filets had little seasoning and a thick layer of oil that further reduced what little flavor the dish may have had. Other dishes where quick fried which resulted in heavy oil flavor across all. Portion size was decent, but this place charges for each bowl of white rice. For the price paid, rice should've been included.
Food not as good as before (it’s much better two years ago).
Pros: no waiting time even other places are packed. Cons: Pretty much every course is precooked, defrosted and blend with vegetables. Some ingredients are sour and make you sick time to time.

I highly recommend that you do not order food from this restaurant because the ingredients are not fresh and the beef seems to be spoiled. The taste is very bad.
Food is over spicy and very oily food. We ordered some of their special with discount but the portion is very small... There are so much more option in the area. Easterly is disappointing.....
Got food poison for 5 days after having the takeout.
They must have lost their chef. The food is way worse than before. Not worth any visit please.
Food is okay, but I’ve been experiencing tons of diarrhea throughout the next day after have dinner here. My stomach feels unsettled, and I’ve been dealing with watery stools. It’s left me feeling weak and dehydrated. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant to my friends.
If you can’t make the food, don’t take the order. It’s that simple. Or just don’t cancel the order after I waited for 2 and half hours!!!! Now I wasted my time and starving. Very very very bad time management and customer service!
Service is very slow and food is not good. The food does not deserve its price. This is the worst tomato eggs I’ve ever had.
