Don’t let the facade fool you, this place is a hidden gem. My husband and I have been enjoying Sushi Robata for over a decade. We now live out of town but still make the drive to celebrate special occasions. We have truly enjoyed everything we’ve ever ordered and the service is almost always fantastic. Our favorite server is TK (and the roll named after her is amazing!) Definitely make a reservation on weekends, as it gets really busy. Even with a reservation you might have a bit of a wait, which has never bothered us, it makes me happy when small restaurants are busy. :) If they offer you a sushi bar seat, say yes, the sushi chefs are so kind. We highly recommend Sushi Robata!
I came here for lunch with a friend and we loved it! Amazing service, affordable pricing, great portions, and delicious sushi. I understand all of the great reviews now, it’s not hype. My favorite was the Magnma Roll. Absolutely delicious 🤤
I love Sushi Robabta i can’t rave enough about it. The best sushi in town. It’s so fresh everytime. I’m never disappointed. The ambiance is great. The customer service is outstanding. I’ll forever be a loyal customer.
Tasty food. Wide selection (sushi and sashimi, bento, noodles, rice dishes, fried and grilled dishes, appetizers, dessert, alcohol). Great customer service and staff. Good portion sizes at good prices. Have dined in multiple times and will continue to do so! [Dec. 29 Update] Added photos from recent dinner. Still 5-stars.
You cannot see how fancy inside from outside. There are so many small appetizers such as Takoyaki, gyutataki, agedashidofu, etc. some of meals you cannot find in TX, very rare and traditional taste meals you can have bite at Sushi Robata. Also price is very good price. Each appetizer is around 3-5 dollars, and taste is amazing. They have special menu almost everyday changing, and chef made it. A lot of choices. Even sake, shochyu has so many different varieties!! Sushi is always fresh, little small piece you expect, chef is knowledgeable japanese. from special menu, some fish is from Japan, taste just amazing !! You can enjoy “Omakase” “Kaiseki” here. Since I came here, I am big fun of sushirobata. I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE !! You can have 25-30 people big party here, so good for party. 2 rooms are half private room. highly recommend!
Sushi Robata is a really great place for quality sushi. I visited there today for lunch and was more than impressed. The service is top notch and they really take good care of you during your visit. The Sushi quality is excellent and they serve really fresh fish. I was also very impressed with the atomosphere in the dining room, it was very clean and very welcoming. They offer a lot of good lunch specials and bento box combos. I want to come back for dinner sometime because it looks like a great place to bring friends for a great dining experiance.
Very authentic!! If you want real and quality sushi definitely come to this place! The service was amazing and the food was incredible!!
TRY THEIR KABOB SKEWERS! Delicious. Also the desert was great.
Sushi is fresh and delicious 😋 I have been coming here for many years! Great atmosphere, great service very kind.... so delicious 😋.
Hands down some of the best sushi! Great variety of fish with sashimi, sushi and rolls as well as adult beverages. Great service too! Will definitely be back.
We are very frequent visitors at Sushi Robata with my son. My most favorite: sea scallop hand roll. The service is always good, staff is friendly, food is fresh. They have a good variety of Japanese beer, they also serve wine and sake. I enjoy Sapporo Light.
If you are looking for a nice local sushi spot I highly recommend this location. The service is always nice, it is a bit quaint but is always busy. The sushi is always fresh and very reasonably priced. I absolutely love the salmon skin as a nice appetizer. The shopping center it is located in isn’t anything special, but this place really makes it something to consider visiting. Overall if you like quality sushi I would highly recommend.
I freaking love their lamb biryani, goat korma, or the naan is also fresh and off the chain. Any time it rains, or I am sick, I come here for comfort food. The owner is so friendly and will chat with me while im waiting:) and the buffet is thr best way to try new foods
This is a wonderful lunch time spot that we will be going back to. They were quick to bring out drinks and plenty of naan. The host was gracious and was quick to help you enjoy the food. I highly recommend giving them a try.
One of the best restaurant in Dallas and I bet on this. Amazing food quality. We visited here for the first time after all the reviews we saw on Google and to be very honest we were here for 3 days in Dallas and I visited 3 times in a row because of the food quality and service . I was looking for authentic South Indian food and I bet on this they serve you exactly as per your expectations. Dosa, Medu vada, idli, punugulu, chicken tikka masala, paneer butter masala and chicken 65 are worth trying . Thanks to Prem who helped us a lot in making the right choices . Cook is really great and whatever you are being served is authentic in its own way. I’m gonna visit this place again for sure may be next month. Thank you again .. :) 🌸
Being a Bengali, a foodie, and a top 10% food reviewer on Google Maps, I can attest this is one of the best Indian restaurant I came across in all of Texas! We ordered a lamb biryani, chola bhatora. And diet coke. The server/owner (might be) is very polite and a gentleman. When we were asking him questions about the menu, we mentioned this is our first visit, so he went out of his way and gave us a full plate of Chicken 65 (like a chicken masala) which was super delicious and tangy (it had curry leaves and lime mixed in with all the Indian spice goodness). Our lamb biryani was full of flavour with no hint of excess oil. The biryani came with two sides of Raita and Curry gravy (yum!). It is enough for two people or enough for 1 for a foodie like me! The chola bhatora was recommended by the server and we were not disappointed. It is truly enough for 2 people easily! No Indian meal ever ends without chai! It was thick and flavorful although I would keep the prices a bit lower. Overall our experience here was exceptional and we will visit again for sure.
Update: Recently went back to try out new dishes. The soft bread(naan) was really smooth and well done. We had the Malai kofta, Chicken chilli and Paneer butter masala. The quantity and the taste were really great. The customer service of the staff was great, something we didn't find in other desi restaurants. Old:Gobi manchurian (gravy) was really delicious, crispy just like we get in India. Mysore masala dosa was yummy as well.
The food is good here, but it doesn't elicit a 'wow' reaction. It's a great place to visit with family or during the weekdays—it's reliable and perfect for a regular spot after work.
02/21/24: I had the chirashi lunch which came with miso soup and salad. Not bad for $23 plus tax. It was filling for me 👍 fish was fresh and sushi rice was very yummy. If you get sushi at lunch, it can get pretty pricey! I got sushi c "sushi was just ok", uni "was ok", and yellowtail belly "this was def the best". Next time I come, I'll get the lunch bento box.
Other than the salmon and yellowtail, the quality of the sashimi and sushi was quite disappointing, especially the tuna, which lacked freshness and flavor. The sushi combo didn’t feel like a good value for the price. Also, the selections in the sushi combo was underwhelming considering the price. For what we paid, the sushi combo felt a bit disappointing. It definitely felt overpriced. As shown in the picture the presentation was nice. However, I’m not sure if I’d return.
We tried this place because we heard good things about the yakitori. We came a little late so it wasn’t super busy, but we weren’t impressed with most of the food. The chicken hearts were pretty lukewarm by the time we got them and the regular chicken was okay. The chicken with negi was our favorite. We liked the ebi fry and the fried oysters. The hamachi kama was pretty good too. The udon was okay and so was the sushi. Service was fine. It just wasn’t memorable.
It was ok. Decent fish quality, but rolls wrapped VERY loosely, and not much variety on the rolls. Better options in town, IMHO
I tried Japanese Sushi Robata and ordered the Dallas Sushi Roll and Tonkatsu Noodles. The sushi roll was good- decent. But the tonkatsu noodles were honestly the worst I’ve had in the U.S. I’m not even comparing it to authentic versions from Japan, just other tonkatsu I’ve tried around America, and this one really missed the mark. The broth had no depth, and the overall flavor just wasn’t there. The chef was very warm and nice though. Great sushi, but I wouldn’t recommend the tonkatsu noodles.
The restaurant added a mandatory 20% gratuity for two people without any prior notice on the menu or from the staff. We only learned about it when the bill arrived. When we asked about the undisclosed charge, the restaurant insisted they had the right to add it regardless of disclosure. This kind of non-transparent billing practice is very unusual and disappointing. Posting this review simply to inform other customers to check their bill carefully.
We used to love Vindu. We had friends from Irving leave all the choice restaurants in Irving and asked them to join us at Vindu. 5 pm Sunday. I would love to say anything was good but sadly I cannot. We ordered lassi - came with no sugar. The server said help yourself to sugar. Then we ordered mixed pakora, no taste no sauces included, and a very small plate enough barely for one person, we ordered Manchurian corn and gobi, both taste was awful, we ordered choley bhature. It was boiled chickpeas and Bhatura was awful. This used to be my favorite food in their original California location. Very disappointed. We ordered yoghurt rice. Where as the tempering was good came with North Indian style tasteless Paapad and no pickles. Till we asked. All the sides we had to ask. The chai for the table arrived cold. It’s a good thing we had a good friendly not so hungry group. We were the only table. No reason for not being served well. No one came to fix or listen to complains. Take it or leave it type. Very saddened to see one of my favorite restaurants gone down. Hope the irving one is better.
We ordered the chicken masala and butter chicken for a takeout order. I am dropping one star for each of the following. 1) The food was extremely spicy. I love spicy food, but this was beyond any kind of spice that should be in food. The spice made it unenjoyable. 2) The quantity of food was extremely small. Overloaded on the rice, but only given about one cup of sauce and chicken. 3) The cost of the food. This small order cost $29! I could maybe justify paying this much if the food tasted good or given a larger portion of sauce and meat, but this price was outrageous. We will not be back to this place.
I visited Sushi Robata for dinner tonight, and the experience was quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, everything felt disorganized. We waited a long time to be seated, it seemed like the manager assumed there wouldn’t be many customers after 7:30 PM. We eventually walked into the dining area ourselves, and only then did the manager finally arrange a table for us. The manager first led us to a very small table right in front of the restroom. I politely asked if we could switch to a slightly bigger table so my boyfriend and I could sit side by side more comfortably. She said we couldn’t because she needed to save those tables for other guests, or we could sit at the bar instead. However, the restaurant was only half full when we arrived, and even by the time we finished eating, there were still plenty of empty tables. The manager’s attitude was quite dismissive and unprofessional. We ordered several sushi dishes and noodles, which clearly wouldn’t have fit on the bar counter anyway. Overall, the service was very disappointing. I expected much better hospitality from the Korean manager. I would not want to go back to this restaurant ever again.
I ordered rice and rasam through DoorDash, and what I got was absolutely disgusting. I found a DEAD COCKROACH 🪳 floating in the rasam. This is beyond unacceptable and completely unhygienic. It ruined my entire dinner and even gave me vomiting sensation. How can a restaurant serve something like this? This is a serious health hazard. Totally shocked and extremely disappointed. NEVER ordering from here again.
Ordered chana-palak here. Worst taste. Not able to eat single spoon of the curry. Their gulab jamun is rock solid that a knife cannot cut it. Their roti is made with same batter as naan and is worst. Chilli panner is full of liquid, which should not be. Asked for salt lassi but they totally forgot about it. Owner is busy with his laptop and the lady server is busy on her phone. Never coming back again. Not recommended for any sort of dine in.
Felt something was off the moment I stepped in. The place was completely empty and we were the only ones there. I still went ahead and ordered the Mysore masala dosa but it turned out to be a total letdown. It was drenched in oil. You can literally see in the video how greasy the food and the plate were. Honestly just sad and irritated. Definitely not coming back here.
