Opinions de Tiny Sushi - Oh Baby Daly City
The restaurant is as the name suggests, tiny. However, the flavor of the sushi and the hospitality of the staff is anything but. Not only were we welcomed in with a smile, but were offered multiple items on the house. The omakase was particularly stunning with the otoro really shining through as the star of the show. I whole heartedly recommend this location and will most definitely be back again soon.
Wow!! I’m not much accustomed to choosing sushi restaurants because of my vegetarian diet (meaning no seafood of any kind). However, based on the online menu and positive reviews, my friend and I visited here for lunch. The restaurant is tiny but we were easily seated at the bar. Many people came in and out for takeout. I was thoroughly impressed by the tiger roll (pictured), which includes pumpkin, asparagus and avocado. My friend loved her walnut prawn roll. Convenient location at Westlake shopping center. Looking forward to a return visit!
We stumbled upon this hidden gem while browsing nearby restaurants on Google. True to its name, the "Tiny" restaurant boasts a cozy ambiance with just two tables and a bar area. Intrigued, we decided to try their highly recommended signature dish, the Chirashi Bowl, based on the waiter's suggestion. It exceeded our expectations both in taste and presentation, with the sashimi being incredibly fresh. This delectable bowl combines all of my favorite ingredients in one delightful serving. On our next visit, we plan to indulge in their Nigiri plate. We discovered that this culinary treasure has two locations: one in Daly City and another in Redwood City. Excited for our next adventure, we have made a note to explore the Redwood City branch. I highly recommend this restaurant for its exceptional sushi and impeccable service, which truly elevate the dining experience.
This place was better than I expected. Went in on a Tuesday for lunch. We were the only guests at the time. The service was amazing. Their server was very tentive. He gave recommendations and packed our leftovers for us. We ordered the deluxe chirashi and no. 1 combo. The deluxe chirashi came with about 20 different slices of fish. It was absolutely delicious. The fish seemed very fresh and flavorful. There wasn't any need for soy sauce. The sushi rice was quite tasty as well. It was large enough to feed 2 people. The no. 1 combo came with 7 nigiri pieces and 8 pieces of California roll or spicy tuna roll. There were a few deluxe nigiri options in the combol, like negitoro, hamachi toro, and seared salmon toro. The server also gave us an appetizer on the house. I'm not sure what it is called, but it was fried seaweed with fresh house made salsa. It was tasty and referashing. Both meals came with soup and salad. Definitely recommended.
This is my first time coming to tiny sushi. We ordered the oh baby box and it was delicious. Not only was a presentation superb but it tastes really good and I tried some new things that I may not have tried if it did not come in the box. it may be a small space with three tables and a bar seating area but you must come in and try this food. Very friendly staff and overall a great experience.
Came across this place when visiting the area occasionally, it’s a small but cozy store, all the foods are prepared fresh, we got well taken care of by the server. We tried a few popular dishes and they didn’t disappoint at all, highly recommend the veggie tacos and the fatty Salmon toro, will definitely come back when visiting next.
Tiny Sushi Oh Baby's "Oh Baby Box" Sashimi combo is a must try! The uni is incredibly fresh and creamy, just melts in your mouth. And those Hokkaido scallops? Absolute perfection - tender and bursting with flavor. The quality of ingredients shines through in every bite. If you're a sushi lover, this is a must-try. Already planning my next visit!
The place is kinda small, but their food is sooooo good! It’s oddly to say but they definitely have the best sushi rice ever. We finished the entire chirashi bowl 🙈 of course, sashimis are fresh and delicious as well! Little do I know that hamachi would be so tasty with truffle oil. Also, their ratio between rice and fish is perfect. We loveeee their double toro roll. The yuzukosho on top is perfect, we didn’t need any soy sauce for that dish. Last thing to mention is their miso soup. It is not your regular miso I promise! It tastes like the seaweed soup from Japan. Overall, it can be on the more pricey side, but it’s totally worth it. I would come back again😊
Best sushi experience in Bay Area. We’ve spent hundreds of dollars at fancy sushi places, this is the one we’re coming back to. We ordered ‘Oh Baby box’, salmon toro, and the Godzilla roll. Loved all three of them. The oh baby box and salmon toro were of course so fresh and melted in mouth. But even the roll (which at other places we normally don’t love) was so well balanced, unique, and just chefs kiss. Would love to try the chirashi bowl next. Everyone around us were having it and it looked beautiful. One note is that there is limited seating (~3 small tables and a bar). But it made for a real cozy space that took me back to Asia :)
Don’t usually leave reviews but I really wanted to thank the server Diana and the kitchen! I Have been super excited to try out this place since being recommended countless times but, unfortunately, my work hours conflict with their business hours, so I showed up 20 minutes before closing 😬. Diana still sat me down and offered exceptional customer service ( which is so rare nowadays! ) She made what could’ve been an awkward rushed dinner, into a great experience with her genuine friendliness. Thank you, Diana! Also, thank you to the kitchen for staying a bit after hours. The food was plated beautifully and the fish was extremely fresh! Will definitely be coming back! Thank you, Tiny Sushi!
Service was impeccable. The host/server offered tea while we waited for seats, since there is room for only 10 at a time and it was full when we arrived at 12:30. He checked in on us as we waited, and was very attentive throughout our meal. The regular chirashi bowl was very fresh and tasty, with different seasonings for each type of fish. It’s possibly large enough for 2 to share with an additional roll or side. The deluxe bowl is in my future. The space is very cozy, but we never felt squished. We enjoyed sitting at the bar, where we could watch the magic happen on the other side of the plexiglass.
I recalled visiting this place back during the pandemic. I am not so sure if they changed the owner but I must say we were very impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere inside the restaurant. It has brought me back the memory when I visited one of the ramen stall in Japan. It was just as tiny as this place, even smaller! But it definitely worths the wait :) We ordered the total of 5 dishes and they were all amazing as you can see in the photo. The ingredients are very fresh and you can actually taste the quality! We love good stuff, so we love ‘em all! Absolutely worth the drive! The service is awesome! There were already 3 groups waiting ahead of us. We noted our phone number down as well and waited in front of the restaurant for a while then went for a small walk and shortly after, they called us saying the table was ready! We were so excited. The server is very attentive, polite and very friendly! Forgot to ask for his name but he was great!!! Thank you for his great service that helped made our experience much better :) The atmosphere was great! Reminded me of a time when I visited Japan. Everything is so small but definitely full of quality and worth the wait, so I don’t feel any regret! We’ll definitely come back for more!!! So, if you are concerned about the wait time, consider reaching there right at open :) The price wise is kinda based on Japanese Sushi elsewhere. We spend $130 with 20% tips included but we walked out stuffed!! Highly recommended :)
Tiny hole in the wall sushi restaurant that is a hidden gem off the side of the west lake plaza. We almost didn’t know it existed if not recommended by a friend. The restaurant is extremely tiny, maybe seating 10 ppl max. We arrived and put our names on the waitlist. The host was extremely nice and made sure we had chairs to sit and wait outside. Even though it wasn’t that cold, we were also served a cup of hot tea for waiting, super sweet! The food was fresh, prepared fast and there is a wide assortment of menu items. Only thing I would dock off points is the seaweed on the hand roll was chewy, hard to bite to separate. Pretty curious to try their omakase or chirashi bowl. They also have some interesting vegan sushi options!
Had a serious craving for quality sushi after watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi, and this place did not disappoint! The Deluxe Chirashi Bowl was absolutely loaded with high-quality, fresh fish, all atop a generous bed of perfectly seasoned sushi rice. The real standouts? The o-toro—unbelievably fatty and melt-in-your-mouth—and the sushi rice itself, which was the most flavorful I’ve had in recent memory. I also tried the Double Toro Roll, which was just as incredible—packed with rich, fatty tuna and salmon that made every bite delicious. 10/10 must-try dishes! Beyond the food, the service was excellent. Jack made the experience even better with his great recommendations and friendly attitude. If you’re looking for top-tier sushi, this spot is a must-visit!
My first time here and I would absolutely go back and recommend this location to anyone. The fish and sushi here is very fresh. Their serving of the fish is beautiful and amazing. Also, they have flavorful fresh wasabi that tastes amazing. The store is very small and cozy. Very nice staff and absolutely phenomenal food. MUST TRY
The name is tiny sushi, but the sushi is by no means tiny - generous portions of fresh fish with creative presentation. Small location, but we got lucky to be seated via walk-in. They are a sushi-only place but very vegetarian friendly - the sushi taco is one of their signature dishes which they gave us on the house. Our food order was taking a bit longer as they got slammed by several deluxe chirashi orders so they also gave us edmame and a refreshing mango drink on the house. Overall a great experience and excited to return again very soon!
I had a wonderful dinner experience! Our server, Jack, was excellent and really took care of our table. We ordered one deluxe and two regular charashi bowls for each of us. The fish was very fresh and the portions were huge. I really enjoyed my overall experience. Jack was a very attentive and friendly server. He also was already checking in on us when we were outside waiting. He was checking on our table throughout the meal and even gave us a treat at the end. Overall, I would highly recommend this spot!
Very small but Jack took really good care of us. Overall def better value than most of sushi places around Bay Area. Be prepared to wait if coming in popular time.
Service & food presentation was amazing! The dine in is very small & cozy, its not really meant for parties over 2-3. The waitress was also very nice & always checking up on us. Food is pricey, but the quality is pretty good.
Never write reviews but this was literally the best food I’ve ever had- it was so delicious and the server was amazing. He took care of us and gave us extras as well, definitely come here if you get the chance
This might me my favorite sushi spot on the Peninsula! Everything we had was top-tier in taste. The service was fantastic as well. They gave me complimentary miso and gave us both some yummy salmon to try. This place is small so I anticipate a wait during peak meal times.
Great quality sushi! My wife and I both had the omakase. The set came with miso soup and salad. The omakase consists of 10 pieces and each piece was prepared in different ways. We have been to other places where all the fish is prepared or seasoned the same so they all taste the same. Not the case here. The place is tiny, hence the name, so be prepared to wait. Service was so-so. There was only one waitress so we had to get her attention a couple of times for more tea and water. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back to try their other items.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Wonderful service and even better food. The waiter was very nice and chatted with us the whole time. We received a piece of salmon belly on the house which was beyond nice of the sushi chef to offer that to us. We had a wonderful date night and will definitely be back again. We gave perfect stars because they deserve it. The quality of the sushi/ seafood was top tier. I think the only thing I have to mention is that it is very pricey. You probably can’t leave without spending around $50+ per person, something to keep in mind if you are looking for budget friendly bites but we do highly recommend this place.
We had an amazing dining experience! The food was fantastic, and the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. We followed his recommendations and ordered the chef’s choice bowl, sushi tacos, salad, and toro—and he was absolutely right. Everything was so delicious, I nearly swallowed my tongue! I think my favorite was the sushi tacos—they were out of this world. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the customer service was exceptional. Our host was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. He went the extra mile to ensure we had a fantastic time, even offering us complimentary dishes to explore more of the menu. We left feeling completely happy and satisfied. I can’t wait to return! I highly recommend this place for its outstanding food and excellent service.
Perfect for dining solo or with 1 friend. I've had their omakase before and it is very rich, good for a special occasion. This time, I had their walu nigiri, walu sashimi, and a Ferrari roll. I'd get it again!
My wife and I decided to try a different Sushi Restaurant tonight, and we were not disappointed. This location is, well “Tiny”, so the name fits perfectly. However the service, fresh selection and overall experience was outstanding. We were greeted promptly by Jack, who told us we’d have a 10 minute wait. It turned out to be about five minutes. We were immediately served our own bottled water, miso soup and ample supply of wasabi and pickled ginger. The menu was about four pages (one was mostly drinks). Jack was our waiter, he was attentive without being annoying. After our soup, we started with the “Perfect (Hamachi Lover), Spicy Salmon Roll and the Sushi Taco”, all three were different and very delicious. The salmon simply melted on your tongue with different layers of flavor. We could have stopped there, but decided to try one additional selection, “The Warrior” (pictured), was again uniquely flavored and the slight crunch on the top made it even more interesting. While we waited briefly for our final selection, the chef surprised us with an additional “tasty bite”, I won’t disclose what it was because I don’t think it’s a usual offering. Only included the mention because the service here was outstanding. We enjoyed our time here so much we’ve decided to return for our 31st Anniversary, this coming June. Do yourself a favor and try, “Tiny Sushi”!
Portions were super generous (a little too generous) and the taste was amazing. Really recommend the deluxe chirashi bowl. Huge fan and definitely looking forward to coming back.
Tiny Sushi is a hidden gem that truly lives up to its name. This cozy hole in the wall sushi spot reminds me of Osaka. The intimate atmosphere is a portal straight to Japan. Jack, our server, is standout. He went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. His attentiveness to all patrons, particularly his thoughtful care for my parents, showcased the restaurant's commitment to service. The sushi here is nothing short of exceptional. While the menu isn't extensive, each dish is crafted with care, using fresh ingredients. Their vegetarian sushi options are particularly delicious, we had the “tacos”. We had both the Chirashi bowl and Omakase. Both fantastic. The mango unagi and double toro are a great contrast of creative and classic. We spent 180$ for 3 before service and walked out very full. Would recommend ordering less. Arrive early! Tiny Sushi is first-come, first-served with a written waiting list and no reservations. Tiny Sushi is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious sushi. I'll definitely return to when I'm back in town.

It's definitely one of the freshest sushi places in Bay area. Quite authentic. Price is extremely reasonable.

Had a great meal here. Got the Oh baby box, a scallop roll, and vegan roll. Everything was delicious. Even the miso soup and salad. The service was fantastic, really loved the server, and vibes were great. We be going back again and again.

Definitely get here early or be prepare to wait! The service is A+! I got the omakase and it was very well put together. A reasonable price for a 10 piece, there were a few scales here and there, and the miso soup was slightly too sweet but very worth the price!

The fish quality is amazing. Beautiful presentation too. We got the raspberry black tea, tuna mango roll, seaweed salad, and the omakase. Price for rolls is a bit steep but omakase is a good deal. I would skip the roll and get another omakase next time. We preferred this omakase to the restaurant Omakase’s omakase which was around $1k for two people 😅 The restaurant is very small and cozy. Seating is 10ish people max. It is walk-in only which is a bummer because I would not be able to bring my elderly family members since the wait could be very long. Would definitely come back before the rush starts.
Tiny Sushi is that TINY (think Japanese ramen barstool seating IN Japan-style) but excellent sushi/sashimi. Service was a bit off - I ordered Sushi Combo and server heard Sushi Taco?!? So while my husband’s chirashi came in, he had to wait until my entree came, so we could eat together. Then, we had to actually ask for wasabi and ginger… and only got wasabi. We had to ask again for ginger. SMH Little wait to get in, little wait for my misheard order (perhaps lower their in-house music a bit?), so we asked for the check early… that they had no problem providing. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Not a great first impression even with tasty/fresh sashimi. There are other places we’d rather go try/back to…
The fish here is really fresh and didn't have a chewy texture. Expected of a place that looks like they serve authentic Japanese style sushi. Now that might sound odd, but given how there are lots of restaurants that serve sushi, this place really focuses in on the experience. The restaurant itself itself is really small, about 3 tables worth, so if you want to dine in, be sure to come early. If not, you can always just do a take out order, something I've seen lots of people do while I was waiting in line to dine in. The whole eating experience was pretty enjoyable but there was one caveat that holds it back. In all the dishes ordered, there are some sections of rice that seemed to be underdone, which is not what you want to see in dishes as pricey as these.

Inside looks exactly the same as Tani's did before they closed down. Capacity is about 12 people max so expect a wait. My party of 4 arrived on Friday at 7:00PM, and the wait was around 30 minutes. For parking there's plenty in the plaza nearby (near Nations). My biggest complaint was the wait time for food. Although they constantly checked on us, I haven't the slightest idea why some dishes took so much longer. I finished my food while the others waited over 45 minutes for their food to arrive. Food was all very delicious. I would go back if it wasn't during the weekend or prime dinner time.
