Me and my friend came here for a girls dinner and everything was so delicious! The waitresses were so lovely and efficient, really nice atmosphere! As a vegetarian there were really great options for me and the cocktails were great too. Will be back!
Everything was good. And my place after a long time that I didn't come, you can say, a real paradise, is a real paradise immersed in Japanese culture. I highly recommend it with my heart. 10/10 fall in love Amazing. Kristy has been fabulous at serving and advising professionally and trained in reading carefully.
Fabulous. We got the €45 / 5 japas lunch deal and it was so worth it. We got so much food for the two of us (and my boyfriend eats a lot!) bare in mind we went saturday 4pm so it was quiet, but we liked that. The location is great as the area is lovely, the service was attentive and nice, and the food itself was great. I had a delish Lychee cocktail and my boyfriend got a huge beer. Would highly recommend and would go again!
Amazing meal start to finish. It was easy to get a reservation through OpenTable. The drinks were fantastic . I got a pear cocktail and my mate got two different kinds of sake. They were each an amazing. They unfortunately were out of oysters when we arrived. We got the duck pancakes and they were impeccable. The sea bass, crab with caviar , gyoza , and the scallops- were unbelievable. Scallops were buttery soft and unmatched. This place is a must!!!!
This was our first time to eat here as we used to eat in a sister restaurant but this will now be our go to when in Dublin. From the fantastic service by the staff the food was delicious and so were the cocktails! we loved the cosy cool atmosphere and looking forward to going back again soon.
A great experience overall. Linda was so kind and all of the food was delicious! I had the duck soba, green tea and miso cheesecake with ice cream. The dessert was AMAZING!!!
Great food and atmosphere. The food is a little expensive but worth the price. The unagi foie is highly recommended. Special thanks to Matilda, who was attentive, friendly, and made the experience smooth from start to finish.
The atmosphere was lovely! We came for a date night and Evelyn was amazing. She helped explain the menu and also made sure to check in with us about the food!
Matilda was an amazing server!! So knowledgeable and sweet. She recommended so amazing eats
Food: The essence of Japan in Ireland. The bluefin sashimi platter is must-try. Hot Stone Waygu melted on the tongue Service: The hostess Evelyn was great and made sure everything was perfect
The dinner was beautiful. The staff were so kind especially Linola our server - she went out of her way to give us a lovely time. The food is also 10/10 - the veggie gyozas were so fresh and cooked right in front of us! We will definitely be back :)
We had the best sushi in Ireland here! The sushi was very taste and absolutely delicious. Our waitress, Mugi, was wonderful - she warmly welcomed us, explained the menu in detail, and made great recommendations. The service was fast and attentive, and the whole experience was great from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Delicious!!! My friend and I each got a special sushi roll (8 pcs) and shared them for dinner. Mugi was so sweet and gave us great service! We were dressed casually but it was definitely a classy place with dim lighting and would have been fun to dress nice for. Would recommend!
The food and service here are exceptional. Favourite place for sushi in Dublin. Mugi was our waitress and she made it a special experience. Cannot wait to come back for more :)
Lovely, great food and vegan options. Thanks also to Rose our server🌹 🥰
Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Dublin. Nearly a decade since my last visit — and it’s still just as exceptional. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service attentive, and the food simply outstanding. We enjoyed a selection of sushi, a fresh salad, and finished with the wagyu — every dish was flawlessly executed. The photos hardly capture the true quality and flavor of the experience.
Not only is the food something to want to come back for more, the inerrio is very warm and cozy, much more spacious than you'd expect so great for bigger gatherings
Unforgettable food. Impeccable service in a space with cool ambiance. Host graciously accommodated our group of 6 walk-ins on a Saturday evening. Every dish was terrific. The ones that I’d return to Dublin just to taste again are - Unagi Foie Gras, Spicy Hamachi and the Hot Stone Wagyu Beef. Also loved the Nama Lychee Cocktail, which was perfectly balanced and not too sweet.
Gorgeous spot for yummy Japanese tapas style food as well as traditional style sush/sashimi. Fab cocktails, and the staff are just so nice and friendly. Really recommend this spot for a fun evening out or even a low key evening. I feel the staff can feel the vibe you’re after and they go with it. Big shout out to Niall and also all the other staff who I didn’t get their names. 💯 recommend!
Very nice service & lovely food. Will definitely be back! And our lovely server Mugi was wonderful 😍
Food is amazing and far from being reduced to sushi, even if the menu isn’t expense it is very eclectic. It can be pricey but you will understand why when you taste the fresh ingredients. Service is amazing and full of smiles! In my opinion the decoration is no on par with the food quality it really looks like an Irish pub, however that would stop me to go back! Thank you yamamori for the great experience.
We had a wonderful dinner at Yamamori Izakaya - Japas & Sake. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A special thanks to Mugi, who served us with such warmth and professionalism. Their attention to detail and friendly attitude made the experience more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back!
We had a great time Magnus & Matilda looked after our table and made our experience wry special. The food is always delicious in here and you can guarantee to have a wonderful date night
Talk about amazing food and service!! As a person with celiac disease going out to eat is often stressful. The staff here went about and beyond to make sure my dinner was safe to eat and that I felt comfortable. Matilda, our server, was so kind and supportive and was very diligent in making sure my needs were met. And the sushi was outstanding!
So glad the Mexican place was full for the night because I randomly walked into this place and LOVED my experience. Everyone was super nice and the food was exceptional. Maybe I’ll just move to Dublin.
This has been our favorite meal in Dublin so far!! Our server Mugi was so kind and had such good recommendations
Such a lovely spot! The food is so tasty and nicely served, portions are great and the cocktails are really special. Would recommend.
Dark, quirky, and entertaining - the venue nails a distinctive east-meets-west atmosphere that makes for a fun dining experience. The bar tables are stylish, and the menu is broad enough to please varied tastes. Sushi and other dishes are visually appealing, and tasted alright, I just felt the quality didn’t fully justify the price. The staff were attentive and warm though, adding to the overall experience. The music choice was funky and nice, while the basement bathroom, however, could use a refresh as it was somewhat messy.
I recently visited this Japanese restaurant in Dublin and was genuinely impressed. The Ama Aged Tofu croquettes and the Tofu Soba were outstanding — absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I would gladly return just to enjoy these dishes again. The cocktails and sushi were superb as well, beautifully prepared and a perfect complement to the meal. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, with a calming, zen-like vibe that made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Dinner was amazing here! We came on a Friday night around 19:30 with no reservations but were still able to get seated no problem. Each dish we ordered was better than the last and ending on that hot stone wagyu was definitely the move as it was stunning. Evelyn always made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal and overall are really looking forward to coming back!
I would say one of the best sushi I have ever tried even though I'm not fun of sushi at all. A friend of mine has ordered home delivery and we really enjoyed it... Will go myself next time for sure!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars Had a fantastic experience at Izakaya Tapas & Sake. The food was outstanding — fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. A special thank you to Christine, our waitress, who was absolutely brilliant. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Her service really elevated the whole experience. Highly recommend this place for amazing food, great vibes, and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back!
Love Izakaya for the most delicious and unusual cocktails. Great for a full meal or light bites & drinks. Amazing selection for vegans and vegetarians. Super staff and great atmosphere. One of my favourite spots ♡
I'm not going to lie, it's been a while since I have been here but I had to leave this review when I heard what The Poxton (no misspelling here) are trying to do. I have been going to the original Yamamori for years...literally. I have gone to Izakaya a few times too. Both places work. Both places offer a different vibe from each other but the same super service, fab food and incredible cocktails. As a Dublin native, these places need our support more than ever. Even though I don't live in Dublin anymore, whenever I go down to George's St etc, it makes smile, it all feels so alive and familiar. We can't allow that to change. I cant wait to start bringing my daughters to your restaurants, might have to wait a few years as they are still a bit young for Izakaya, so please make sure you don't go anywhere.
Great Experience, We had such a great time with the food and drinks. The atmosphere was amazing. Eibhleann was so great at serving our food and making sure if we were having a great time. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner out.
Amazing place! We absolutely loved everything. The sushi was simply divine. We were served by Evelin, and she was wonderful. I asked her which sushi she would recommend, and she suggested some really great options that I enjoyed so much. I was actually looking for something spicy, and her recommendation was perfect. Highly recommend this place!
Amazing food! We had sashimi, sushi, nigiri, hotake katsu, hot stone wagyu. The unagi foie gras, chefs kiss! Sushi portion is big so order it only if you’re hungry! But overall amazing place
From the moment we walked in, this restaurant exceeded every expectation. The ambiance was elegant yet warm, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern touch. We started with beautifully presented plates of fresh fish — each piece was delicate, flavorful, and clearly of the highest quality. The highlight of the evening was the Wagyu steak, which we cooked ourselves on a hot stone at the table. The marbling on the beef was perfect, and each bite melted in the mouth — rich, buttery, and unforgettable. This interactive experience made the meal feel personal and special. The service was absolutely exquisite. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, taking time to explain each dish and making sure everything was just right. Every detail was carefully thought out, from the pacing of the courses to the elegant plating. This restaurant delivers not just a meal, but a memorable culinary journey. If you’re looking for authentic flavors, impeccable quality, and top-tier service, this is the place to be. Thank you Mugi, for this wonderful experience!
The fact this place does not have 5 stars is crazy. Amazing food & service. My husband and I cannot get over how flavorful the food was. We got the beef dumplings, spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon and cream cheese roll, and the beef waygu. So good. First night in Dublin and we are not disappointed!!!
A friend recommended this place to us when she heard we were going to be in Dublin for a long weekend. When we reserved, we were told it was a table at the bar and we were a bit unsure about it. We needn't have been. The tables have a partition so that one has privacy and it creates quite a cosy atmosphere. We decided for the set menu and everything was delicious and the quantities were more than enough (we are not big eaters though). We were here on a Thursday evening so it was cosy and relaxed - not sure about noise levels during the weekend. Service was very friendly and professional. I have heard that the cocktails are good too, we stayed with the prosecco which was perfect for the evening.
Firstly, the food is excellent. But personally, I think it is slightly on the expensive side. The table we had was very close to other people. Not all tables were like that though, some were far better. Also, our table area was fairly dark (the photo taken of our food was with the flash on). Service was as you'd expect, no complaints. We pre-booked a few days in advance. They take card details to charge €10 per person in case of a no show. I'm guessing they've had previous problems with people booking and not turning up.
Food was fabulous, pricey but good. Portions were okay, but what you do get is amazing. Service was lovely and all waiting staff were polite and respectful. Host got us seated quickly next to a lovely painting. Atmosphere of the place is very nice with the beautiful decor but is far too packed and noisy.
Great night! Evelyn was super attentive and gave us an amazing service. The food was good, but the cocktails were simply just perfect!! Would be definitely coming back!
Myself and two friends dined at Yamamori Izakaya on George’s Street yesterday for lunch. We have eaten there previously and had good experiences, which makes yesterday’s visit all the more disappointing and the reason I feel compelled to leave this review. There are three main issues that need to be highlighted. Firstly, while the Hot Stone Wagyu Beef was flavourful, the portion size was frankly unacceptable. For €26.95 we were served just seven tiny pieces of meat, each no more than approximately 6cm in size. This is completely disproportionate to the price and borders on blatant overcharging. Secondly, the wine list is both extremely limited and outrageously priced. The cheapest bottle of white wine available was €47, with prices going as high as €62. As regular and experienced restaurant-goers, we are accustomed to enjoying good-quality wines at fair and reasonable prices. Yamamori Izakaya’s pricing is excessively inflated and entirely unjustifiable. Management should seriously reconsider their wine selection and include options that are realistically priced. Finally, there is a mandatory 12.5% service charge applied to tables of three or more. This is another unacceptable practice. We have no issue paying for good service, but imposing a compulsory service charge on a table of just three people is unreasonable and off-putting. While we did enjoy the food, the combination of poor value, excessive pricing, and questionable charging practices means that unless these issues are addressed, none of us will be returning. Ordered the set menu for €50 after suggestion from the waiter. Unfortunately the food seemed a lower level me u than the food I saw on other tables coming from the individual menu. The Pork Gyozas were ok and the Chicken Nanban (fried chicken) was not crispy and a bit flavorless, bit it was plenty. The worst was the Spicy Salmon with cream cheese sushi roll which tasted like canned salmon and could not taste or find a trace of cream cheese on it. Not good and not worthy for the price.
While the food was very good, and there was a cool atmosphere, the service was really bad. We were sat at the bar-right by the host stand, yet it was impossible to get service. After 15 minutes of waiting we had to ask for menus. Beyond our initial water and a beer the bartenders never followed up on a drink. We asked twice for a dessert menu that never arrived, so we just left.
Food was decent. Service was slow. One of the dishes we received was not what we ordered and another one of our dishes never came. We got charged for two drinks that we didn’t order which was then fixed, but too many service mistakes in one night. Very expensive for the quantity of food received. Atmosphere was very loud and noisy and hard to talk. If you want Japanese I would recommend elsewhere in Dublin
I visited today and ordered sashimi. A few hours later I became sick and vomited, so I suspect it may have been mild food poisoning or an issue with the raw fish. I understand these things can happen, but I hope the restaurant reviews their food storage and quality control. Aside from this, the service was fine.
Horrendous avoid. I've been going here forever. It used to be a great spot - cool fusion type dishes with some typical Japanese ones, quality, generally very fresh and well cooked. I brought everyone there. It was always good. They changed it after covid - made bigger portions etc. - it got noticably worse, however some experiences in 2025 with the family had made us think that perhaps that the owners / managers were striving to bring it back to how it used to be. We had big hopes it would retain the cool place it once was but after last night's 'meal' we'll never return. First cocktails (1/10) Edit: @ €16 - absolutely awful - old fashioned with lots of syrup hardly any whiskey - just awful. This is effectively a means of scamming customers in my opinion. I remember sitting at the bar in the past having great old fashioneds (once upon a time) and bottle of Kirin. But the Kirin is gone now also. Second - gyoza (3/10)- shrunken, pasty with mushy filling. Not what they used to be whatsoever. Californian roll (4/10), they had no brown rice, so ordered with white _couldn't eat the seaweed wrap - it was like stringy plastic and the crab was full of tiny shell and the celery wasn't right- I think I tasted ash, yes ash, in there but it so large and messy it was hard to tell anything from it. Very enjoyable. Edit: They claim this hand picked nonsense with the crab - I'm eating fresh crab all the time and never experienced this level of shell. Duck noodles (4/10) Friend it said very bland and boring. Waygu beef. (0/10) What prompted this review Never in my life has someone tried to just outright cheat me so bare faced in a restaurant. The meat not only wasn't waygu it wasn't even fillet, insanely chewy, flank steak perhaps. Zero flavor, nothing. It was awful - I brought back to them. We didn't want to make a fuss, we had no intention of complaining but this "Waygu beef" was absolutely terrible. Edit: They thought this helped their case?? Oh yeah, they gave us a free brownie My colleagues had one bite each and lamented how sad a brownie it was. We laughed at a what a disaster the whole meal had been. We got a bill for 190€ with compulsory €22 service fee added - insult to injury. I didn't think Japanese owners would allow standards to fall so low. They've gone off a cliff. It's irredeemable. Will never return here. Edit: They say now we should have told them sooner and they would've fixed it. Perhaps, but also, how about not serving awful food to begin with? Historically they didn't, life was easier. Now they will have to keep replying to one star reviews. I hear Daruma is good.
A hugely disappointing experience from start to finish. We came here expecting a nice evening, but that expectation was completely destroyed. We intentionally ordered appetizers with an aperitif, followed by main courses with a bottle of wine, as you would normally do in a restaurant. To our shock, everything arrived at the table less than 10 minutes after ordering. Aperitif drinks, starters, main dishes and wine, all at the same time. What made it even worse was that the food was already quite cold when it was served. There was absolutely no consideration for timing, order of courses or the overall dining experience. It felt like we were being rushed out as quickly as possible. By the time we could actually start eating the main courses, everything had gone completely cold. No explanation, no apology, and no one even bothered to ask if everything was okay. The food itself was awful. Poor quality, tasteless and clearly not fresh. This had nothing to do with good Japanese cuisine. For the high prices they charge, you would expect at least decent quality, but this was honestly inedible. Everything is extremely overpriced for what you get. In short: terrible service, completely wrong timing, lukewarm to cold food and quality that does not match the price at all. Definitely not recommended and certainly not a place we would ever return to.
