Dinner was fantastic! Our server Ozzy was attentive, knowledgeable and fun! Octopus (part if appetizer) was cooked perfect and so tender. My husbands steak was juicy and cooked to perfection. Carrot cake to die for! Relaxing date night atmosphere. Can't wait to dine again!
We had an exceptional experience celebrating my husband's birthday with a special meal out. The complimentary appetizer offer through Open Table was a wonderful perk. Our meal was outstanding, and the service was impeccable. From the complimentary signature peppers to our multiple appetizers and perfectly cooked steak dinners, every aspect was delightful. The surprise complimentary birthday sundae was a lovely touch. Our server, Josh, and busser provided top-notch service, ensuring prompt refills and efficient clearing of plates. We would highly recommend this establishment and look forward to dining again.
Kara Rey runs a wonderful experience in food and ambiance. Christie and Elena are top notch servers. My bone-in rib eye was still resting while finished my delicious French onion soup. My Mom loved her seared sea scallops. We will return for the Chilean sea bass.
Had the best meal and margaritas last night. The service by Adam was great. The Lemon rice soup was amazing. The grouper limone was delicious. We will definitely be back! Dessert was good too!
Had Caprice salad w/grilled shrimp 🍤 and tried the Fried Gator!! Great time and experience for us and my daughter's 18th birthday!
I can’t say enough good things about Gino’s—thank you for your warm hospitality, inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. You graciously accommodated our last-minute reservation to honor a friend who recently passed, and we had a wonderful time reminiscing. We’re truly grateful for the space you provided for such a meaningful and memorable evening.
Went there for an anniversary dinner, we made reservations ahead of time so our table was reedy by the time we got there. Every single worker we came in contact made us fell very welcomed. Our food was cooked exactly as ordered and at the end we where given free anniversary ice cream with a firework sprinkler on it (thank you). Restaurant itself is very clean and smells delicious even from the parking lot. We will definitely be going back regularly
Their new happy hour menu is the bomb! Salmon cerviche, steak and seafood (crab cake and shrimp) and a 5 dollar Ceasars salad. That along with 2 dollar oysters, simply fantastic. The new renovation look spectacular! I'll be back for a full dinner soon. See you then, Tim!
Food was excellent and service was best I've ever had. Waitress was best, very attentive, refills constantly, and knew the entire menu was great. Everything is super sized. Very pleased.
A steak house with Lamb chops that do NOT DISAPPOINT! Seasoned and cooked beautifully! Highly recommend
I consistently enjoy dining at this steakhouse, and Geno's makes the experience even more exceptional. Their Arnold Palmers are expertly crafted. The filet mignon, prepared Geno's style with blue cheese and bacon, was cooked to perfection and exceptionally delicious. My wife's chicken dish was equally delightful, and the garlic potatoes complemented both entrées flawlessly. In short, every aspect of the meal exceeded our expectations.
Our second time here and this place is nothing short of amazing! A bone-in ribeye that was cooked to perfection. The king crab was juicy and flavorful, oysters Rockefeller was succulent, and the crab cake was absolutely mouthwatering. Dessert...the creme brulee was simply to die for! Drinks were spot on and delicious. Our server Josh was incredible, attentive without being intrusive. Some may say they are pricey...but the portions, flavors, and service are well worth every penny!
thank you asli for the incredible service! food was awesome!!
This was the best dining experience my husband and I have ever had, they went the extra mile to make us feel special on our leap year anniversary ❤️ our waitress, Shari, was so amazing and attentive, she was sweet and took pictures for us. We will definitely be back. I wish I could give more stars because of anywhere deserves it, it's here, hands down
This place has the best food! It was great to have an upscale meal without having to drive downtown! Everything was cooked perfectly and came out in a timely manner. They have an array of different cocktails, and everyone was really happy with the one they picked out! I will definitely be visiting again in the future!
A night out with friends was special as we dined at Gino's Prime & Surf. I've been there many times, but my friends had never been. This time I tried their steak instead of my usual chicken or salmon dish. My meal was the 16 oz ribeye, garlic mash potato, asparagus soup and the house salad. For dessert I had their chocolate fudge cake with a scoop of ice cream. As usual the service was great. The food was delicious, but I'm use to the taste and texture of a higher quality of steak (grass fed).
Took my hubby here to celebrate his birthday and it was great. I had the Alaskan crab legs (a bit pricey, $120) and hubby had the lamb chops but had a good taste. The drinks and dessert were good too. Alex, our waiter was fantastic! Be ready to spend a nice pretty penny as our bill with tip topped $300 easily!
Wow wow wow is all I can say! You get an upscale Chicago vibe from this place! I came in Sunday April 14th with a party of 10 celebrating me and my sisters birthday! I have always wanted to come here but never made it! The service, the food; the staff all exceeded my expectations! Everybody was so nice and friendly! I got the Steak & cake meal and it was the perfect portion! I will make this location my upscale go to! I have not stopped ranting & raving about this place!!!! They treated me and my sister like absolute queens! Top tier all around! Thank you for hosting us!
We had Christmas Eve dinner there. Even though we had reservations, it was still a 30 minute wait as they were extremely busy. Once we were seated, the server was great. It took 1 hour to get out main entrees after we ordered, but the food was excellent.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday in the private dining room. Food and service were top notch. Josh was our server, he did an amazing job as well as everyone we interacted with.
Gino’s legitimately has the best steak Ive ever had. No need for a1 sauce ! Its divine without it ! You won’t be dissatisfied! Its also a classy place , but totally affordable!
We went for New Year’s Eve 2025. Excellent service and food ! The steaks and Filet Mignon were outstanding ! Best Steak house in NWI! Great place for a party too !
Popped in for a quick dinner for two before the Holiday, place was packed. Grabbed a table in the bar area & had the pleasure of Lindsey's hospitality and attentive service! Great meal as always!
Some people here complaining about wait times for their meal. I didnt have that issue. And even if I did, I wouldn't care. This might have been the most tender steak I've ever had. Ginos is on the pricier side but it is a nice steakhouse. So to be expected. Everything was fantastic including service. Ignore the low star reviews. This place is great.
From the moment that we were seated through enjoying amazing deserts the service was outstanding. The atmosphere was very comfortable, lively without being too loud. The appetizers and entrees were delicious. Highly recommend Gino's for anyone looking for a great fine dining experience!
Food was great and service was equally as great. The food didn't take longer than expected to come out of the kitchen and was very good. Had the steak and lobster and I was given a perfect medium rare. Went there for my wedding anniversary and they gave us a very nice ice cream dessert with a little firework candle to celebrate. Our server was extremely nice and talked to us as if we were friends which was great. We'll be coming back again.
I had been here a few years ago, my first time, and honestly i didnt remember how good the food was only how expensive it was. So, having said that, and trying just about every resturuant north of Indy. looking for good food, i'm back at Gino's and this time i didnt care how expensive it was. Its worth it . This isnt good food its Great food,Really great food. Its nice that its so close to home too. Thank you Gino's.
Can't say enough good things about this place. You simply can't go wrong. From The steaks, to the twice baked potato, to the drinks.... and it is a comfortable atmosphere. You know some places have a "tense" vibe? Not this place. It's just a nice place to be.
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner. It took a while to be seated, even though we made reservations, because the front desk lady was not there. Once we were seated, the service was great! I'm pregnant and asked if one of their signature drinks could be made virgin. The bartender came to my table after making it to be sure it tasted good. The waiter was attentive! We asked for one steak medium-well and the other medium-rare, but they both came out medium-rare, so I couldn't eat, but it looked and smelled delicious! The king crab was good, and I loved the potatoes! We also got desert to go which was very good.
Nice restaurant with great steak and seafood options. My ribeye steak was overcooked but had good flavor. Two strips at the table were cooked perfect though. Service was very good. **Second visit: service was phenomenal. Lollipop lamb chops were very juicy and flavorful. Fresh east coast oysters were great. Lobster bisque soup had great flavor, but I’m always disappointed when there’s no actual chunks of lobster in it. Overall, still great spot
The service has been good and doesn't take long to get seated usually. The bar and indoor area is a nice comfortable place to hang out with others while eating and drinking and the enclosed patio area is a reprieve from always needing to eat indoors. Overall the food was good and the drinks were okay. I might rate this a bit higher if partial stars could be given but overall the rating is because of the higher price compared to not meeting the equivalent bar on food taste. In additional to dining in, picking up take out food has also been reliable and quick.
Food was decent not sure if I would ever spend $63 on a steak again definitely wasn't 63 bucks good but the waiter was awesome cool guy. Everybody was pleasant
The food and service was great. The bathroom need to be cleaned. This made the whole experience a bit unsatisfying. When your spending 60.00 for a plate you want a every aspect of the experience to be a good satisfaction. Plus the noise level was a bit overwhelming.
We wanted to love Gino’s so bad. The atmosphere when we walked it gave such amazing supper club vibes. Our server was super sweet and nice. She explained the menu and made suggestions. The eggplant stack appetizer and peppers were out of this world. Drinks were also wonderful. I ordered the asparagus risotto and my husband the Chilean sea bass. This is where things took a turn. We sat for 30 mins waiting on risotto and fish. Our server never once came by to explain the hold up but we heard from other servers there was a backup in the kitchen due to 2 larger parties. Our food was wonderful once we received it. Hot and cooked perfectly. They w us Desserts, which were meh, the crème brûlée has just the sugar crunch but no cream underneath and my tiramisu was more cake like and not at all traditional. Would maybe give it a second try in off chance it was an off night but a little disappointed.
We have been here few times and had a good experience Our waiter and the back waiter were super cool and very attentive. The complementary appetizer of sweet peppers was a perfect start to the meal. My wife had the lake perch and that was very tasty, unfortunately my New York strip came out medium well and not medium as requested. It’s always disappointing paying a premium for a steak at a steak house only to have the steak come out at a different temperature. This was also our anniversary dinner. We informed the restaurant of the occasion and they completely ignored it. I was not looking for anything free but a simple acknowledgment that makes the evening little more special. Otherwise, what’s the point of noting it in the online reservation.
This was my first time dining at this establishment. I would like to start off by saying that our server, Kristina, was amazing. She was very attentive and prompt in assisting us. There was also a Mexican man who was assisting her, and he was great too (I'm sorry I didn't catch his name). He was engaging, helpful, and funny. The first food that was offered was their marinated green peppers. I was told that this is something they give every table, along with the traditional bread and butter. Those peppers were absolutely delicious! 10/10! I ordered the crab cake appetizer, and again, 10/10. It was perfect! The stuffed mushrooms are also a must for any mushroom lover. We also ordered the Italian Burrata. That was okay. It's not my jam. I loved the perfectly ripe tomatoes and the soft cheese, but I left the rest alone. I thought I'd try their own homemade garlic dressing on my salad. It was good, but a bit salty. Three of us ordered the ribeye steak and lobster tail entree. This is where things started to go downhill. The lobster was tough. The steak was super fatty. Another person at the table ordered just the ribeye, and theirs was not cooked the way they asked for it. The double baked potato was good but not memorable. We then viewed the dessert tray. Everything looked amazing. I ordered a bread pudding (I think) to go. When I brought it home, I took a few bites and threw it in the garbage. The whole raisin & coconut thing caught me off guard. Now, I will never eat bread pudding again (or whatever that was). I would be okay never visiting this establishment again. I feel it is more hype than anything. The food is super expensive, so I was under the impression that the food would be phenomenal. Nope. Oh, and the parking situation is awful and confusing. Since I was parked in the back of the building, I wasn't sure which entrance to use. I happened to encounter an employee, and I was informed that you have to walk around the building to the front. It's just awkward.
The short: This premium steakhouse falls short when it comes to accommodating gluten free requests. Just a dinner for two of us; with one of us having to eat gluten free; this is never an issue at a steakhouse. Get a salad without croutons and an entree that's grilled and not breaded and fried. Despite letting our server know about the gluten restrictions, it took multiple efforts to get it right. Unlike my spouse, I don't have gluten restrictions and had the lobster bisque. While the taste was there, the lobster bits eluded me. Either the waitress didn't understand/communicate it to the kitchen and/or the kitchen didn't understand... or maybe both? All I can say is that after the debacle, we left with our stomachs unsatisfied and tastebuds unimpressed. Bottom line: if you have to eat gluten free, this is not the restaurant for you.
The service was good but due to my many food sensitivities I can't have any soy or lactose which means no butter. So because of that restaurants seem to believe I can't have any seasoning either. I ordered a steak and green bean and there was not 1 speck of seasoning on either dish. I usually tell the waiter to let them know to still season my food but silly me, I forgot and paid for it. It was delicious once I took it home and seasoned it to my liking. P.S. They offered to take it back to have them season it but I have trust issues when it comes to complaining about food I can't see being prepared.
Went for Thanksgiving. The meat here was genuinely impressive. Flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned… it was easily the best part of the meal and clearly where the kitchen shines. However, the sides were a little strange. The mashed potatoes came mixed with corn, and the most surprising combo was the mostaccioli mixed with broccoli. It felt like every vegetable was merged into something else instead of being served on its own. The only true stand-alone vegetable option was the green beans. If you’re someone who likes your sides simple and separated, it might throw you off. The dining experience itself was mostly good, though our table placement wasn’t ideal. We were seated right by the door, and it felt a little uncomfortable with guests constantly walking past and sometimes standing right next to us while we were trying to eat. That part might just depend on where you end up sitting, but it definitely affected the atmosphere. Overall, great meat, unusual sides, and a seating situation that could be improved depending on the table. I’d come back, but I’d request a different spot and hope the sides get a little more straightforward.
First and probably last time. My bf and I went out for my birthday dinner on a Friday night. We had reservations and were sat right away. The first thing that felt a little off were the menus having greasy finger prints on them. It felt weird having to touch them but our waitress seemed so busy that we felt bad to bother. Second, my glass of water had a tiny piece of food dried up on the outside so we just scraped it off. Waitress was a sweetheart and I’d give her 5 stars but rating 4 stars because I’m rating overall service because of the greasy food menus. Now, let’s move on to the food. The lobster bisque was a joke, it was so thick, not sure if they used cornstarch but that was the texture I felt. No lobster meat whatsoever. I was very excited to try it but disappointed once I did. The steaks were cooked fine but the mash potatoes needed more flavor. I did like the drinks. I would recommend to skip the lobster bisque and order a salad instead.
The cocktails were delicious. The atmosphere was so classy. The food was ok. We had two appetizers, the sausage and peppers as well as fried alligator. For the entrees I got the salmon, it was not cooked thoroughly. Very pink and flesh like. My hunny got bone in ribeye it was AMAZING!!! We got a slice of carrot cake and my hunny said it was really good! We usually go to Chicago 4/5 star restaurants so the bar was set pretty high. We have door dashed from the other location in Merrillville and we’re more satisfied than dining in at this location.
My friends, wife and myself went here last night. Our server was Candice. She was great. But the food...well. We had complimentary bread and some of their marinated peppers. Both were delicious. Then my wife ordered a platter with Steak Medillians, BBQ Ribs, Shrimp, Orysters Rockefeller and some other things. I ordered the Frito Misto. My wife's rib meat looked very dry like they were reheated and added bbq sauce to make it appear fresh, the steak medallion's had too much peppercorn pepper that it was inedible, she didn't want to eat any of it, so she had them take it. My Frito Misto featured their Perch, Calamari and fried Shrimp. The Shrimp, Calamari and Perch were lacking seasoning. There were hints of some seasoning on some of it, but not all. It could've been better. But the best thing we did have was the Carrot Cake. If the food matched the cake it would be a slam dunk. But oh well, this was our first visit from out of town. Might not not come back. Maybe the cooks were tired. Thank you Candice for your great customer service.
Went there on Thanksgiving. Had a reservation at 2:00 p.m. we had to wait standing ip for 52 minutes. A perdon in our party was 95 years old & not given a seat to wait. VERY DISORGANIZED. The food was awful - prime rib was red and flimsy and red like a fish. Nothing was good. The desserts were very tiny sheet cakes just about 1.5 inch little squares. Terrible.
I'll make a better steak and salad at home for 15$ from Jewel, Aldi, Stracks, Welches, and Costco. I cook so i only expect you to make one as good as Weenos. Saw prices and laughed quite hard. I own a cast iron skillet. You are replaced! Oh, what's that? I can't listen to other people's conversations in the dining room that I do not care about at all...and wish they never existed?Keep your beef. I'm sure it's good. Fyi... you're in NWI , not New York or Cali... realizing that you are essentially trying to weed out " undesirable " people with prices. You'd actually make 2x profit with high quality skirt steak and variety steak tacos. Huge chunks of meat have been out of style for 2-3 years. Sorry nobody emailed you. Costco shrimp is better or any seafood online. Think about your future and profession as it made me sad for you, laugh that you thought it was a thing, and ,ultimately, here we are. Pass on this one folks. There are better, less expensive options that even let you bring your own bread and you may not have to tip. Roasted.
My boyfriend and I came here for our Valentine’s Day dinner and we unfortunately it wasn’t the best experience. We arrived before our reservation time, and had to stand waiting not sure of when we were going to be seated. It would have been appreciated if the hostess at the front communicated to us about how long we will have to wait and that we can have a seat as they prepared our table. When we did sit down, the table that we sat at seemed very close to the 4 other tables in the corner that we were able to clearly hear everyone’s conversations. Our waitress was amazing but I cannot remember her name. She was very accommodating and attentive the entire night even though she had several tables to tend to. I ordered the brick chicken which came completely raw on the inside. It honestly made me not even want to eat it after I got it back , cooked. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops medium well and they were still bleeding when he received them. Both of our meats looked fully cooked on the outside but were still bloody raw on the inside. I have been to this restaurant previously and loved it, even recommending it to other people, but this time makes me not want to come back. The best things that we had were the double baked potato and crab cake. The lobster Mac and cheese was just ok.
Great atmosphere and service. I ordered rigatoni vodka. After my first bite I pulled out a long piece of black hair, which the waitress witnessed. The steak was ordered medium and it came out well done, tough and dry. It's not worth the money. Extremely disappointed! We won't be back!!!
I ordered DoorDash for pickup so that I could get my dinner on the way to work. The lady at the front looked at my phone confirmation and gave me the wrong order. When I told her it was wrong, the manager came and said that someone else came with my order on their phone and got my food. Which was just a silly blatant lie. The lady just made a mistake and gave my food to the wrong person. But instead of just being honest they flat out lied to my face about it. I don’t know why I expected this establishment to be above such behavior. But they just lost a good customer, I’ll never step another foot in there.
I've been at Gino's Steak and Surf many times, the food was great and the restaurant was beautiful, I went yesterday and it was like a totally different place, it looks cheap, almost like a sports bar, the food was terrible, the pasta was over cooked and tasteless, the chicken tortilla soup was mostly water and carrots, the server got out order wrong twice, cheap decorations, looked like someone just threw on some balloons and dollar store fake flowers, extremely overpriced. Will not return.
First time here and it was a total let down! I'm not one to complain but for what I paid I expected a million times better! Everything started with disappointment realizing the main menu wasn't available for valentines weekend. We waited an hour and ten minutes for our food when tables around us were getting their food faster then us who were seated long after our table ordered. Even a table of 6 received their food around thirty minutes. We asked our waitress what the holdup was and her response was were not a fast paced restaurant. When our food arrived my steak was very dry, over cooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside, as well as missing the topping I ordered. My wife wanted chicken piccata off the main menu, but due to the valentines menu it wasn't available at all according to our waitress Patricia, so she settled on the ribs which were dry and overcooked. The fries and double baked potato sides were better than the main course which is a shame! When our waitress came back around and asked how the food was I told her my steak was undercooked and she offered to send it back after I already cut it in half. With the outside already almost charred there's nothing to be done. I told her it was a total disappointment especially missing the topping. Her response was I'll let them know. At that point my wife asked to make sure the topping wasn't on the bill and I asked for the manager because Patricia obviously didn't care in the least bit. The manager never came which makes me belive Patricia didn't ask or once again didn't care. When I see other tables around me with a different waitress with the customers complimenting her on an amazing job. (I wanted to compliment her too because she was amazing!) When she was serving one table she noticed one plate was wrong so she took it back before she placed it down on the table. Why couldn't that have been my waitress? Why didn't my waitress push to find out what was our holdup with our food? Why not work to make things right? What gives?
Let me start by saying if I write a negative review, it says a lot. I am a very busy person and if I set out time in my day to go out of my way to leave a review, my experience was horrible and I want everyone to read my story. I am currently putting my 1.5 year old to sleep at 9:45pm on Christmas Eve because we didn’t leave Ginos’s until 9pm for our 5:30pm reservation. His bedtime is 8:30pm so we got to skip our first year traditions we had planned before bed because he is overtired and mad. Don’t worry, we can start next year since we will 100000% not be at Gino’s. To start, our reservation was 5:30pm. We all arrived on time and was told we were “in line to be seated.” We stood in a foyer with 30+ people that was about 5 feet by 20 feet wide including a host stand and people walking in and out of the restaurant with a bench for two people to sit at. After getting sat at 6pm we ordered drinks which took so long to come out that our server had to go behind the bar and just make them for us. We ordered appetizers and asked if we should put our food in too and she specifically told us not to, to order our apps and then she’ll go grab our drinks, come back and take our food order. At 7pm we finally ordered our food and had drinks and appetizers infront of us. Lobster bisque was a joke, I would call it cream of lobster flavor. There was not one chunk of lobster in any of the 4 bowls we had but don’t worry, they all came with a film over the top from the soup sitting in the window to go out for so long. When ordering, I tried to order Oscar style filet and she told me it was Blue cheese and to just get the Gino’s special … last time I checked Oscar was crab? Probably should make sure the staff understands what is being served at their establishment. At this point we’ve been at the restaurant for 1.5 hours and ate mediocre appetizers and had 1 drink. Our waitress came back a couple times and offered “drinks on her” because the wait was so long. We watched 11 tables around us that sat down after us order, eat and leave. Also watched the table next to us order a glass of champagne and return it for being flat. Dont worry, she got a new glass “fresh out the bottle.” lol. One table actually flipped an entire seating. All while we sat and still waited for our food. Don’t forget. This is all happening with an 18 month old at our table while it was about 85 degrees in there. Around 8:05pm, after half the restaurant cleared out, we started getting our food. The last person being served at 8:17pm. Fettuccine Alfredo, ice cold. Medium well NY strip? Bloody. Medium rare prime rib? Completely gray and well done. Fries cold. Vegetables cold. It was one thing after another. We asked to speak to the manager 4 times and when she finally came out it was for her to come ask our table “how’s everything tasting?” As if she was completely unaware of what has happened the last THREE PLUS hours. Her solution? 25% discount. I’m sorry but this place has no business operating on a holiday. Clearly they are money hungry and overbooked themselves. Way too many people waiting the entire time, no where for anyone to sit, food takes 3 hours, service is mediocre, food comes out cold. I truly will never be back and will make sure to tell everyone I know to never step foot in such an unorganized, joke of a restaurant.
