We went for new years! The squad was amazing! The phony negroni was the best Ive had. The waitress was courteous and sweet.
Awesome food and atmosphere! Awesome drinks as well, Liliana (and I am sorry if I am mistaken her name) made me the best espresso martini of my life. She was also extra kind! I loved the whole experience (please do the oyster festival every year)!
We came here because it was in walking distance of Downeast. We were not disappointed. Atmosphere was very hip, groovy for a Friday night. Service was fast. Food was veryyyy tasty. I wish the portions for appetizers were more clear. We got mushroom ravioli (not pictured) which only came with 2. But the hummus (pictured) was HUGE! You might want to ask first 🤷🏼♀️ Overall, we were so happy with this spot
This neighborhood spot is a little gem. I enjoyed their Steak Frites and Duck Confit Fried Rice. They have a pretty good beer selection too.
Return visit for late afternoon dining, and it didn't disappoint. Friendly staff, casual atmosphere, excellent food. Tried the Brussel salad with shrimp and for an appetizer, the tricolor hummus, delicious.
I had a marvelous time here as a first visit with a buddy. The food was delicious and drink options plentiful. Great atmosphere, too! Rose was a delight at the bar. We're definitely coming back! EDIT: I have been back a few times and it continues to not disappoint! It's now been over a year and it's still one of my favorite places.
Saw this on Phantom Gourmet and said I gotta go! We went for brunch and it was very nice-music was a bit too loud, but diverse chic crowd and space. Food was superb- shared the stuffed dates (couldn't taste the blue cheese though not a bad thing in my case), then each got an entree. Sweet potato hash with fried eggs, crema, and toast for me-really flavorful and delicious. Grilled corn arepas with fried eggs and bacon for my partner which needed some hot sauce but otherwise great. Worth the trip and price :)
We stopped here for dinner on our first night in Boston and were were blown away. The servers were so friendly and kind, and the food was delicious. We ordered drinks, burgers, shrimp and fish Tacos, poutine, raw oysters, and beignets for dessert. The oysters were super fresh and refreshing- and at a great price. The poutine was also great- it was better than poutine I've had in Canada! We devoured it all in no time. The highlight of our night, however, were the beignets. They were drizzled in peanut butter and chocolate, resting atop a soft bed of fluffy, white marshmallow spread. It was crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. For all the toppings on it, the beignets were actually not too sweet, but are instead perfect for the adult (or child!) palate. Overall, highly recommend!
This is now our favorite spot to go to for amazing food, great service and super chill vibe. My husband was skeptical but I was "pregnantly" persistent 🤣. Now we have been to Cunard Tavern 2 nights in a row and the food & service gets better and better. The appetizers, the spicy chicken sandwich and the banana pudding are to-die-for, mind-boggling mmm-mmm-good! I can't get enough of it and i look forward to bringing my family here and trying everything else in the menu. I highly recommend this place! Five stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from this Google reviewer all the way.
It was the first place we stopped at when I was visiting with my family! We really enjoyed it as the food was great and the service was terrific! I can’t say any bad things about this place! I will definitely have to go back and try out more food options when I visit Boston again!
I'm new to the area and wanted to check out a spot that I've heard good things about. Roof deck, modern & creative menu and great drinks. Everything at Cunard Tavern seems to be well thought out and executed properly. I know for a fact that I'll be back again
Our experience at Cunard was great. We went after work and arrived after the kitchen had closed the service. Even so, host Kesy made a point of making every effort to offer us something. She brought a great cold cuts board! Kesy also helped us with suggestions for drinks, always striving so that we had the best experience there. She was fantastic. The atmosphere is quite cool and we will be back soon to try other dishes on the menu and new drinks. I highly recommend.
Five Stars. Great people, drinks, food, and atmosphere. Grace served us and is an awesome bartender.
The beer selection is insane. The vibes are unreal, and they have a roof deck looking at the Boston harbor. This place is it. Service a little slow but they make up for it with the beer selection. They have heady topper.
The atmosphere is fun. The food was great. I had a macaroni and cheese. They had a great variety on the menu. The appetizers are large enough to be a meal.
An excellent location with excellent service and food. The food is delicious and the service was quick! Prices are absolutely reasonable. 5/5!
Had my first trivia night at Cunard Tavern and it was an absolute blast! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, the drinks and food were both fantastic, and the whole vibe just made us want to come back as regulars. On top of that, we accidentally left with the receipt that included our tip, and they gave us a call — not to scold us, but to kindly check in and even apologized for bothering us. The staff is as great as the experience. Can’t wait to be back!
Definitely 5 stars for this place. Their food was amazing. The staff was great and the atmosphere was very cool. Definitely a must try.
Stopped here for a late lunch and got the duck fried rice, Brussels and scallion pizza. Great service and food was good. Our waitress Jennifer C. Was great
We went there for brunch and had a great time. Service wast excellent food was fresh hot and reasonably priced. She brewed a fresh pot of coffee when I told her I prefer my coffee hot. Never had a burger with a fried egg on it, but enjoyed it. I must suggest that either that egg be cooked enough that when you bite on the sandwich, you won’t get the egg yoke all over you or warn customer that the egg is going to run. I would definitely go there again.
We were in boston 4 days and had 1 dinner and 1 brunch here. The brunch was delicious. Highly recomend the lemon ricotta pancakes. But even better than the food was the service. They gave us great tips and recommendations of local places to go. Great great great
We stopped in late after an evening flight and had just barely missed the kitchen. Thankfully the manager was able to hold the kitchen open a few extra minutes so we could order some food. The server, the manager, and the bartender were all friendly and helpful. Overall the food was satisfying, beer was good, vibes were excellent.
Great "local" spot. Great service. Plentiful street parking within two blocks of restaurant. EXTREMELY cold on a cold night. We wore our coats during the meal. Food was excellent, plentiful and reasonably priced. Drinks were reasonably priced. All-female staff was pleasant, engaging, attentive, welcoming. I would definitely return in warmer seasons...
We hosted a jack & jill baby shower for our daughter and son-in-law on Cunard Tavern's roof deck. Ours was the first roof event this 2025 season. The weather was great, food & drinks fantastic, and service top notch. You couldn't ask for a better venue for a small private party (we had 30ish people but their capacity is a bit more). Emily and John met us in advance of the party to talk about the set-up and food options. I could go on and on how good the food was (stand outs were the mortadella boa buns, shrimp cocktail, Mexican street corn, brussels and the freshest veggie crudité than I've seen in a long time... but there was so much more good food in addition to these!). Emily staged the food so that the buffet-style table was constantly replenished with more food and options. Our daughter is a vegetarian (and a few guests are gluten/dairy/nut free) and the staff were incredibly conscientious with these concerns. The bar is just as awesome... they have a roll-up window so your guests are not waiting on drink service as it is "manned" full time for your event. Sam did a wonderful job, and my guests loved their beverages (both alcohol-based and mocktails). Finally, the view from the roof is beautiful as you can see the water from their location. We chose to use the retractable awning because the weather was hot and sunny in the afternoon, but you can certainly go without for a night time event. Finally, this venue is one block from Tall Ship so it's easy to keep the party going:)
A casual, laid back spot in East Boston that feels easy the moment you walk in. The craft beer list rotates regularly and leans interesting, with plenty of other drink options available if beer is not your thing. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is friendly without feeling forced. Chef Andrew’s menu strikes a nice balance between comfort and creativity. There are plenty of safe, crowd pleasing choices alongside clever standouts like the scallion pancake pizza that make the place memorable. It works just as well for a low key date night as it does for an evening out with friends. Comfortable, unfussy, and reliably enjoyable.
I don’t usually write food reviews, but I have to give credit where it’s due — ever since Cunard Tavern brought in their new chef, the food has been nothing short of extraordinary. The flavors are unique, bold, and unlike anything else you’ll find in Boston. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, perfectly prepared, and served with true professionalism. Each time I visit, I’m more impressed than the last. Even tonight’s takeout was flawless — restaurant-quality presentation and flavor that rivaled the city’s finest dining spots. Consistency like that says it all. Cunard Tavern has become my go-to, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Staff is very friendly! My husband and I loved the atmosphere. The food was delicious! Drinks were great! My burger was cooked perfectly and the fries are the best I’ve ever eaten! My husband had the duck confit fried rice and that was delicious as well. Pig ears were very good! I wish Cunard was in my town!
Our bartender was awesome and friendly, she only works Saturdays. Food and drinks were good as well. We sat at the bar because the stable seating for two is comfortable and crammed with little privacy.
Food is good. Service is friendly and quick. Cool atmosphere. Price point seems reasonable for the neighborhood. The hummus trio was delicious and had interesting unique flavors. Our mains were ok, didnt blow out minds but would still come back and try something else.
I really want to give this place five stars. There's a lot to like. They've got some good options for food and for drinks, the staff has been great the two or three times I've been, and overall, a nice place to eat. Not wanting to devalue my other five-star ratings, I'll be a bit critical and say that the Brussel sprouts were a little too firm, the chicken and waffles were a little too dry, and not having a mac & cheese dish on their menu full-time is silly (it is on their kids menu and they have some sauce, maybe a chipotle aioli, that kicks it up a couple notches). A few years ago I added a scrambled egg to a tater tots dish (brunch menu) and that was great, now I don't see tots on the menu at all. Rotating menus keep things fresh, but at the cost of losing some favorites. Solid four and a half stars.
In an area like East Boston, a hipster restaurant like this stands out. Industral style decorations, comfort food dishes with non-traditional ingredients, and a vibe that stands out from the typical hole-in-the-wall restaurants of this neighborhood. The food was good and the staff was friendly. I did think it was a little over priced for the portion sizes in comparison to what's typical in the area, but overall it hits the spot.
Really enjoyed this place. Convenient to the airport hotels, good drinks and beer selection. Shared the softshell crab sandwich and the corn and lobster roll with sides of sauteed spinach and roasted brussels sprouts. The sandwiches were exquisite! The sides were good, but not the best brussels sprouts preparation I've had. The main dining area was comfortable, and we were lucky to have nice weather, so the accordion doors were wide open for some fresh air. Unfortunately, we were a little too late to check out the rooftop bar. I understand they serve drinks and a limited appetizer menu up there. Overall, a great neighborhood venue for a good meal.
The staff was nice, and the place is well maintained. There are areas of improvement however. The chicken from Chicken and Waffles was dry and the crust too thick. Bacon was really good. The Arepas seem small in size, but they are a good bite.
The food was delicious but I felt it was a little overpriced. The portions were also small. (I'm used to spending less and getting enough food to take half home). But I'd recommend it if you're in the area and you don't mind 20 an entree. I had the chicken and waffles and it was delicious.
My food was good, not great, but others I was with were very pleased with theirs. So mixed reviews in our group of solid, to good, to very good. Prices were a bit high in our opinion food wise. Drinks were fairly priced. Overall, nice and quiet setting. Pleased
We went to go get drinks on the rooftop deck and had issues with a large group also up there. There were two guys ordering drinks so we got behind them in line to order, and all of a sudden their whole group just kept squeezing in front of us and ordering more and more. They had no regard for personal space, were drunk and obnoxious, and continuously tried to "push" us out of the way. The bartender saw all of this happening and ignored it completely. We were left to just wait patiently and take all of this behavior towards us because we didn't want to start anything, but it was very upsetting and ruined our visit there. We probably will never go back because this is how we associate the restaurant now.
It's all open Space where the windows open up into the restaurant, which is so lovely. It's right down the street from Maverick train station, another plus. But I am a plus size person, that being said the chairs are very uncomfortable and not as suitable for anyone that's a bit on the heavy side. I had to ask to move my table to another table with different seats, which they happily did but still inconvenient to have to move to my seat. The menu is very small and not much to choose from, so I ordered the burger the bun was soggy from whatever onion sauce they use, so I ended up having to use a fork and knife to eat my burger? My friend ordered the steak frits, she wasn't too happy with it, as it just looked like a steak cut into strips slapped onto fries? We truly came for the rooftop bar, which was also very interesting, the rooftop is first come, first serve. The tables and chairs are so close to one another that you can hear the conversation right next to you, we also had one drink and left. Overall, not an amazing experience but it wasn't bad either.
The food: -Cauliflower was great, interesting presentation and the flavor was fantastic. -Steak was a joke, the size of it was absolutely tiny, drowning in the sea of chips. I asked for medium rare and got pretty much well done. The steak would give off a hint if being old- wonder if that’s why it got cooked so much. The sauce was great though, so really just a shame the dish was a letdown through the tiny size and overcooking. The drinks: -Wine was fine, my wife asked for a dry wine- asked for a recommendation and our server brought something which really was not a dry wine at all, but nice nonetheless. -First of the cocktails left me underwhelmed, I could hardly taste the flavors in it (can’t remember the name of it, it was a little coconut-y (if I remember well) -My second cocktail was similar to old fashioned, and it definitely lifted my spirits after the whole experience. Definitely the highlight of the night. The bathrooms: - My wife said that the bathrooms were stinky and clogged up, and there was no soap. She was quite grossed out. - Men’s bathrooms were fine, stinky like a portable toilet, soap was there- not in the proper casing but the fill was just placed on the sink; nothing I haven’t seen before in men’s bathrooms. Overall: Service was nice, the kitchen definitely has the skills, the place must just ensure that the items they get are fresh/they must quit using old, tiny steaks. Cocktail-wise there are some gems (in my opinion), but I understand people have different tastes, so I’m happy because I did find something for myself on the menu. Wine- maybe your staff could do with w tiny bit of training on which wine is which, I feel like people mostly identify them as „very dry/not so dry”- even putting it on the menu could help. It has potential but needs some work done.
We had high hopes for this place. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and the mocktails really good. The duck drummette appetizer was fantastic and the atmosphere was relaxed. Unfortunately, the main course let us down. While my partner's steak was perfectly cooked, the fries that came had been cooked in very old oil. They had a tough chewy texture and smelled off. My chicken parmesan came highly recommended and looked great all covered in a tasty marinara. But after a couple bites into it, I realized the temperature was cool. When I checked the remaining breast slice, the meat was translucent and cold. It was undercooked and I sent it back. The server was apologetic and tried to fix the mistake. Not her fault at all, but I didn't have an appetite after that so I didn't accept the offer of another entree. I was more worried about getting sick right before our flight the next morning. The chicken breast we ordered our kid came out very last and it was so overcooked and dry that it was inedible. So neither my kid or myself got to eat a full meal. It would have been nice to at least have a mocktail or two comped for the trouble we went through of not receiving meals. But, unfortunately, only the server seemed to care about our experience, as no one else came to talk with us about what happened. While the server tried her best to make up for a mistake that was not her fault, the damage was done. We still tipped 20% and reassured the server it wasn't her fault. Hope our server had a decent night and this place improves.
I stopped in for bite around 5PM, as I've gone by it many times and always saw it very animated. The steamed mussels were good though a bit heavy on the mayonnaise, but a relatively small portion for a fairly steep price; also several of the muscles or microscopic in size indicating that the selection was not of the highest quality. I also had the duck with rice without the kimchi, which was reasonably good but also very overpriced. The staff however was really friendly very professional. I spent over 50 bucks plus tips for just these two plates and without anything to drink.
I wanted to love this place as it’s close to home, looks beautiful and the menu sounded super tasty. However, the cocktails were tasteless and the food was subpar. I ordered the burger and it was dry, it has no sauces or anything to make it less dry. Plus the toppings were very few and the burger itself was so burnt, which is not an excuse for a well done burger, I’ve had hundred of well cooked burgers that are not charred. I had a piece that wasn’t as burned and it also tasted like nothing, it had no flavor which was sad. Then the fries were barely done and some of them were a bit raw. And the place wasn’t even crowded to blame it on that, there were maybe 4 other tables. My partner ordered the steak frites. The chimichurri was good but the steak was also tasteless and had big chunks of fat. Will probably return because there aren’t as many options in the neighborhood, but will only order beer and maybe try some other app. Very underwhelming experience for a place with so much potencial and a great menu (on paper).
The bruschetta may have been the most underwhelming dish I've ever ordered. Two cold pieces of bread with some mozzarella on top. I was astounded that it cost $14. 1/3 people at our table didn't even get to experience the joy of eating it since it only served 2 pieces. I was still wicked hungry after and wanted a burger, but after spending $14 on that lame bread and another $14 on a drink that tasted like a bunch of random bar ingredients mixed together I didn't really feel like spending another $20 for a beef patty between two slices of english muffin. I feel like the owners here either have a really low opinion of their customers, or target rich people with no taste. If you're going to have a one page menu, every option should be fantastic. The service was decent and that's probably the only reason I'd come back.
Went on a Sunday for lunch but they only serve brunch. Very loud inside. $22 chicken and waffles was bad. Very dry and overcooked.
I came here a few weeks ago (late December 2024) when the new chef consultant was on-site rolling out a few new menu items, and it was great. I recently went again and the full new menu looked good, but the food was very poorly executed. I had high hopes that the food would return to what it once was, but very disappointing. On the other hand, the new cocktails are a step up from where they were. I hope the kitchen can figure it out.
Went in to celebrate Mother’s Day. The waitress was very rushed and very transactional and detached. We asked for extra plates to share but the plates were not available. She forgot to bring us spoons. Then she spilled mussels sauce all over my mom. Even though they apologized, the restaurant didn’t offer any comps, just told us that they would pay for dry cleaning if I send them the bill. Lastly, the duck confit rice was extremely oversalted. on a positive note, the Brussels sprouts were delicious. Regardless, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
Came for brunch, immediately greeted with a dirty cup of dish water on the table. Ordered the omelette, it was $19. Extremely disappointing, it was small, no filling inside, and the side? Butter lettuce. Could’ve been elevated with home fries and toast. Mediocre service. Much better options to support in East Boston.
To be fair this judgement is based off of 3 entrees. They were all mediocre. Nothing extravagant. Actually pretty blan and uncooked. The waitress are really really sweet, friendly and quick. This place is on the pricer end. The menu is very limited. There’s not much of a variety. Perfect place to go too if you have numb taste buds and might be drunk. Also the lightening in there makes you want to sleep. They do play music but it’s so loud you can’t think or talk. You have to yell. I don’t think I’ll be revisiting. On the plus side Parking is super easy to find. The build is beautiful and clean. Also they have this cool trap around the door to keep the draft out. Smartttttt!
My coworkers and I walked into this place at 10:30 on a Thursday when the sign said they were open until midnight. While we were initially let in, the bartender confronted us, told us to leave, and threatened to call 911. We may not have minded so much if he was polite, but he was clearly drunk and flipping out. As we left we could see him still serving through the window. That treatment is awful, especially given there were 4 women in our party. Meanwhile we watched some drama involving an overserved woman climbing into an Uber asking for her purse that was still inside. Disgraceful and should be fined.
Service was great, love the staff! However the menu needs to be re-evaluated unfortunately. If you told me you were serving me a “French omelette” with half a plate of soggy lettuce, a 1 1/2 egg omelette with nothing inside and topped with grass clippings i’d dig napoleon out myself to cook me a real omelette. Not worth the 19 bucks and the cup at the table we sat at still had dishwater.
Its really unfortunate that corey & emily asked me to leave because of my dog whom is trained to be a service animal. After corey told me that dogs are not allowed, i told him that my dog is service dog. Apparamtly he was not educated in discrimination against service animals. He thrn said he needs to talk to his manager emily(she saw me walking into the establishment wiyh my dog and did not stop me. But after corey wemt to her as she wax coming in from her smoke break with all her friends that were asking me for proof that my dog is a service animal. Andi had to edicate emily on service animal law, by telling her to google it, thrn she said she was not allowing me in the bar because i said i was suing them for discrimination on service animals. This was extremely unprofessional on emily's part. How can you be a manager if you are not aware of the laws? Good luck Cunard.
