King Umberto's is highly praised for its excellent Italian food, drinks, and atmosphere. Rosario, the owner, is known for treating customers like family. The restaurant is especially popular for holiday luncheons and pre-Islanders game meals.

Great atmosphere, top notch attentive service, and delicious Italian food. You will be amazed how beautiful the dining room is...The Calamari is the best I've had in a long time, cooked to perfection.
Amazing food and drinks. Beautifully decorated. We even got a measuring spoon set as we left the restaurant. Definitely going back there again.
I heard a lot about this place, and it’s all true. It’s one of the best vodka slices i’ve had. But what stood out was the service, just enough staff unlike many other busy restaurants, everyone was helpful and when i left i was thanked by everyone like 10 times, these guys mean business. If they keep going like this i would not be surprised to see them still in business for another 100 years. Highly recommend it
I got the impression they are very selective with their ingredients, because the burrata, prosciutto, fig brûlée, and avocado drizzled with balsamic reduction over baby arugula with sundried tomatoes and olives may have been the best I've ever had! Looking forward to trying more!
5 stars doesnt cover it‼️King Umberto in Elmont rates 10 stars in my book..from the moment you walk in their custom designed restaurant you are mesmerized 😍Then the impeccable service begins and then of course the Spectacular choices of food..Everything was delicious and on point..You have to try their fried cappelini and baked clams as appetizers..anything you get as dinner is amazing..even down to their espresso and desserts they continue to impress‼️✅👏
I honestly don't have much pictures cause I was in aww and truly taking in the beautiful splace. Our boss took us out for lunch and we were seated in the patio area. The space was bright with high ceilings and many windows. As you entered the space the right side seemed to be at least 4 garage door like for walls so I can image in the summer time when they have the garage doors open it would be amazing. It was definitely huge, and spacious for the 18 coworkers that came for the luncheon. Staff and waiters were very nice and accommodating. Definitely will have to visit again on my own dime.
Always great. I had the tortellini with vodka sauce. It was great. It was my first time having their vodka sauce and Im glad I did.
Everything was excellent, but special call out for the service.... The waiter, the bus boys, and all others are very attentive and polite and they remember what you say about drinks and food. Exceptional meal!
I do not even have words on how special King Umberto made me feel on my birthday! A bottle a wine on the house, superb service from Elvin! A photo with a fame! I ordered catering for a family function last week and it was magnificent! I will be a forever customer! Thank you!
The food is incredible. There were 5 of us and we all absolutely raved about the food. The service and staff were also fantastic. We will definitely be back.
This is the best Italian restaurant in Long Island! Looking for all sorts of delicious pasta, sea food and the best garlic bread, This kind umbertos has it all! They have been in business for so many years and if you go there you will see why, amazing staff, great atmosphere, many different seating options, and best of all the food! I highly recommend the sea food pasta, the cheese ravioli for the kids, the garlic bread, and all the other meals on the menu honestly the best Italian food! The desert is amazing as well, the brownie with ice cream is so good!!!
Just had dinner in their new patio area which is beautiful. Santos was our server. He was amazing!!!! He's very friendly and made great suggestions on what to order. The bus boys are very attentive. Plates were cleared in a timely fashion and we were never left without water. The food speaks for itself. We cleared EVERY dish we had. There were 3 of us. We split 2 appetizers, each of us had our own dinners and we shared a dessert. Portions are very generous. There's nothing I wouldn't recommend. Even the table side wine service is impeccable.
Been going to the King for decades. Tonight, Xmas eve dinner, was outstanding. Beautiful holiday decor, great service on a very busy night and the food was top notch.
What an amazing dining experience, from the decor to the food, one of the best meals I've had in a very long time.
One of my favorite restaurants of all time. Stuffed veal is magnificent. Service is beyond reproach. They go all out to insure a great meal, including making special desserts.
Amazing local gem! I went with a friend who is a regular and the servers, hostess and owner came over to say hello and introduce themselves. We started with their signature appetizer the fried capellini. I was saying to myself how good can it be it's just fried pasta, I was totally wrong it was ridiculous so creamy it was the perfect bite. For the main dish I had the sea scallop special over risotto it was excellent, my friends had the branzino and the seafood linguini pasta they were very happy with their choices. The dessert we had the lava cake with ice cream it was solid. Highly recommend overall I give it 9/10!
4/10/24 After seeing so many videos of King Umberto on social media I happen to be very close by and I and I could not avoid going in trying the linguini and shrimp with red sauce and of course one of their famous bombolone donuts made on Wednesdays. Lucky it was Wednesday because wow that thing was out of this world and so was the food. Thank you to John the owner for being a gracious host as well as his staff which was far above and beyond most places. If they will most definitely be seeing me again. Can't wait to try the many different dishes they have as well as the different flavors of donuts.
This place is amazing! The servers are very kind and patient. Food is amazing! I was only in the area for 2 days and had to go twice. We went for dessert one night and then for lunch the next day. Next time I gotta try their patio dining, it looks beautiful in there! The place is MUCH BIGGER than it looks!
It's been a while, but I hadn't forgotten about my first experience here. So, I had to return and the pizza here is even better than it was then. I see they've also added a beautiful open area to enjoy. Anyway, the staff is SO cordial and welcoming. That also keeps you coming back and love how they'll throw in a complimentary slice...if YOU'RE NICE!
Went to a surprise 60th birthday and the host couldn't have picked a better place! The atmosphere was elegant yet lively and transformed you into an outdoor garden with twinkling lights, foliage, and chandeliers. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food was very good, especially the appetizers. They were served by the servers but any extra was offered to whoever wanted more. We had baked clams, caprese, fried calamari, and these wonderful fried squares that were filled with capilini pasta and cheese. I've never had anything like this and they were exceptional. Their penne vodka was also very tasty and my husband had a breaded and fried pork chop with prosciutto and mushrooms. I had a shrimp dish which was also breaded and fried and although it wasn't what I expected it was still very good. There were plenty of tables with families, friends, and date nights that were not for a party. I would definitely return for another great meal. They also have a valet lot but there is a shopping center across the road that you can park in too.
This pizzeria is amazing! The food is always fresh and delicious, and everything on the menu is great. The pizza has incredible flavor and the service is always friendly. Definitely one of my favorite spots!
Always a great meal ! Been coming for over 40 years. We had a family and friends gathering (10 people) and everyone loved the decor and food! We reserved the patio location ! Beautiful and elegant! Our friends from Australia were so happy ! Fried Capellini ! Fried calamari , baked clams for starters. Main course We tried the white bolognese and that is a must try ! Veal Marsala , chicken parm , a special white seafood pasta & linguine frittata del mare was delicious and full of seafood! The server was excellent! ( His name was Vergil) (sorry if I misspelled the name ) and worked there for 26 year! It’s a testament to hold employees for that long! Good owners and you will have great employees. He remembered everything and split the orders for us to share family style! So everyone had a taste of the delicious food! Always hot and prepared fresh.
I was going to be in the neighborhood and had a friend meet me at King Umbertos for a early dinner. 🍝 They have indoor and outdoor dining. Parking is across the street. 🚗 The wait staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The garlic bread and rolls were warm and irresistible. My friend had the chicken francese and I had rigatoni vodka with grilled chicken. Every bite was so delicious. 🍝 Then if all of that wasn't enough we indulged in dessert. The brownie sundae a- la-mode 🍩and a tiramisu. 🍧 Yes if you notice this is my go to dessert at italian restaurants. I hadn't been to King Umbertos in awhile and I can't wait to go back again!!😊
Nothing better than eating like a KING! King Umberto offers the best pizza & service in Elmont! The grandma was awsome thin crispy tasty, the regular slice is a true NY cheese slice you fantasize about & the vodka slice was KING! I had everything right out of the oven fresh & hot!!! I can't wait to go back for dinner!!!
SUPER DELISH! ~ my hunnnie’s Jeff’s firm has season tix to the UBS arena for the Islanders! We were heading there tonight for a special event so I looked up restaurants close by! This came up so we made reservations! What a great find! 👍🏻👍🏻 Especially since we tend to be at the UBS arena alot for non-islander events when the Dime club ain’t available. The place is big inside and has an expansive menu! We got the Caesar salad and Burrata fig as apps to start! Then had two of the specials! Veal tortellini and the Osco Posco 🤦♀️🤦♀️(spelling?!~ I always mess the name of this dish up…😂😂😂) ~ you know! It’s common! Anyway~ all was sooo good! For cocktails I had a French martini and a Pinot Grigio with dinner! My hunnnies stuck with a Diet Coke! We were pressed for time so had to pass on the dessert but would def recommend especially if you are heading to the ubs arena on a non event when food choice are non existent or limited. 💖🥳💖👏🏻💖 PS~ my Huns and I share everything! So the Caesar salads and tortellini are split up so just posting my portion of the dish. 😻😻
Delicious Pizza! Super friendly employees, even helped us pick out the beat pizza! Wish we lived closer! Would be here every week!
As a native Brooklynite and resident, this is probably ranks Top 5 pizza shops in the NYC area. Bit of a drive but whenever I visit LI, I try to make it down here. The quality ingredients, crust, and flavors are perfectly balanced. Not just 1 specific slice (like Prince St's pepperoni square). EVERY slice is excellent. Go there. Haven't tried their pasta yet but the kitchen on the restaurant half smells fantastic. Can't wait to try it.
Food fit for a King! I have driven here twice from NYC to sit in their gorgeous, capacious dining room and have amazing Italian food. Like their unique (to me) fried capellini. Even their bread and rolls are unusually good. Unfortch I got so engrossed in the meal I neglected to take pix, except of the spinach salad I took to go.
My wife has a gluten allergy. This is by far the best gluten free pizza I have ever tired. Cannot recommend more. All the food here is really good for dine in and take out. Call ahead for orders during Covid. Main new dinning room is beautiful. Has dinner recently and the food was amazing. Server Alex was excellent.
I love this place! Maybe the best pizza on LI. Had to try a cheese slice, which was exactly what traditional pizza should ve. Crispy crust. Cheesy and tangy sauce. Got a bougie slice that was on a grandma crust w fried chicken, spicy peppers, and honey mustard. super tasty! It's definitely a superior pizza place. The dining room is huge, and I've heard fabulous, and they even have a section w a bar called the patio. They are a must visit
King Umberto never disappoints! It’s a Long Island staple. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and authentic. The service is top notch, and Jacob went above and beyond, great guy. Highly recommend this place if you want great food and great people!
I've eaten at the restaurant, which is great vibes, but never at the pizzeria. David Portnoy (Barstool) gave them a high rating, so I came to check it out. It's the bad & boujee slice for me 🤩 The staff was personable, and they threw in a free slice because it was my first time, such a pleasant surprise!
Where do I begin? The food is authentic, the portions are generous, the prices are competitive, the service is friendly and professional, and the atmosphere is expertly engineered to factor in all of the elements necessary to create the ultimate dining experience. My first visit to this fine restaurant was as a guest at a bridal shower. I was impressed with the organization of the menu which offered several entree choices; but being a shower, I really wasn’t expecting much. My introduction to the culinary expertise of the executive chefs of King Umberto was my first ever taste of fried capellini. Initially I thought they were rice balls, and so wasn’t expecting much because they are rarely made well; but after my first bite I was in love. They were fried to perfection without being greasy; the outer crust was crispy and not chewy as some fried coatings often turn out. Next was the creamy, white, perfectly seasoned cheese and then the ultimate surprise of little macaronis...oh my. I could have eaten a dozen but I restrained myself and enjoyed some of the other appetizers being served including the fried clams, mozzarella & roasted pepper drizzled with balsamic glaze, and the calamari. The calamari deserves special mention for being perfectly cooked to a surprising, tasty tenderness. For my main course I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and I have never before experienced this dish so expertly prepared: paper thin slices, tender, layered with mozzarella and marinara like mama made. In order for the food, as amazing as it is, to take the spotlight, a good restaurant must pay special attention not just to the atmosphere, but also to the servers who can make or break a dining experience. Since this first visit was a party, the atmosphere was more or less controlled by the hosts; but the servers were present throughout the meal attending to all guests’ needs without skipping a beat. The party was typical, but the food made it exceptional. So of course I had to go back to experience King Umberto’s in a proper dining experience. This time I ordered gnocchi with a vodka sauce. As expected, the food was perfectly prepared and the service was still beyond compare. Our server, Santos, was friendly and professional, and very attentive. All in all King Umberto’s of Elmont is a remarkable old world Italian restaurant with excellent food and service. One little thing impressed me: because it was Mother’s Day all the women in the restaurant received a free gift of appreciation. Not a carnation, not a rose, but an old-school gift of appreciation which you never see anymore: an actual functioning, useful gift of an umbrella. And it was raining so how perfect was that!
Updated 6/05 Absolutely stellar experience with King Umbertos — they truly came through for us in a big way! We were trying to get pies delivered for our Garden City Park Fire Department meeting, but the website said we were just outside the delivery zone. I figured it was a long shot, but the team made it happen! Not only did they get the food to us, but every single pie was cooked to perfection. The crust, the toppings, the sauce — everything hit the mark. You could tell it was made with care, and they even threw in a few extras that did not go unnoticed. On behalf of the entire department, a huge thank you for the amazing service and top-tier pizza. You’ve earned a permanent spot as our go-to. Support local — especially when local supports you! 🍕🔥🚒 ------------------ Some of the best pizzas, if not the best pizza! The staff are extremely friendly, and fresh pizzas are constantly being pushed out.
Update: It's still amazing, and the service is impeccable as ever! It had been quite a few years since we had been here. We had not had the opportunity to see the patio room until this evening. They have done an amazing job. It's beautiful to look at, plenty of seating, and a wonderful outdoor area with fire pits. The service and food as always were impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. If you haven't tried King Umberto's out yet, you really should!
The restaurant is a multiplex comprising of a casual dining area, a pizzeria, and a more formal area. We dined in the more formal area, which is a covered outdoor extension developed during covid but stayed due to its elegance and beauty. It is finely decorated with flowers and lighting, so any reception looks divine. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but you can tell the ingredients are fresh and prepared with the utmost attention to detail. Partnered with gold star service by staff who actually care about the customer's experience, this is really the ideal spot for just a meal or even a wedding reception. The table next to us was having a birthday celebration, and a member of the staff actually took their picture and came back out with the photo framed. I would like to give a special shout out to Elmer, who really went above and beyond in making us feel welcomed.
My visit to King Umberto's of Elmont was the best. First of all, the complimentary house salad with the grilled onions was amazing!!!!! I could have eaten a bowl of it by itself and died a happy customer. But all of the food was delicious, as were the drinks and the service is hard to beat anywhere!! The mozzarella caprese was the best I've ever had!!! From the second I crossed the threshold until I left after the fantastic meal, the service could not have been more awesome, the entire staff--10 stars!! All of my co-workers love this place, and now I understand why. I'm already planning on my next visit! This restaurant will not disappoint!
This place is a GEM. These people seem to genuinely love what they do. They are some of the best in the world. And they treat customers like it’s their first day in business, grateful and respectful to each person that walks through the door, every time. Consistently for years. We appreciate you!!
Great Italian place! The staff are so friendly and attentive from the waiters to the bussers. I usually stick with the same dish every time chicken with penne and broccoli rabe with garlic and oil always so delish! They have always have specials. Also the Montenera sauce with shrimp under the pasta is very good too. For dessert we either get a cannoli and split it or their homemade pistachio profiteroles which is a pastry puff with pistachio ice cream and chocolate sauce/ hard shell! They have a fancy restaurant part, the patio which is indoors and is an addition since covid very fancy good for large parties too and then the back of the pizza area more casual seating but regular menu with service! Would highly recommend!
I saw an instagram post about this restaurant and thought I’d give it a try. What a beautiful place! Service 5 stars Food 5 stars Atmosphere 5 stars….. just fabulous! We started with baked clams - fried calamari & the fig & burratta special. I had the linguine Luciano IF I could give it 10 stars I would. For dessert we had the Affogato ❤️❤️❤️ this restaurant is a 10!
Went there on Friday after the Ryder Cup. It did not disappoint. Incredible service, food and drink. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was phenomenal. Husband had the scungilli in a red sauce over linguine. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend
Came here for a second time and it was just as excellent as the first. We came with a party of 9 . The service was great and attentive. The atmosphere was really nice. Although it does get busy ( I guess thats a good thing) the service never slacked. The food came on time and it was tasty. Good portions. Id recommend this place for a good special event / occasion with a group of people
Come here every year with a group of 20. Food is great. Service is friendly and efficient. Place is very large, busy, crowded, noisy...But it's all part of the experience. Highly recommend!
Was back for the first time in a long time and it was worth the wait. Got a table in the dinning room for that old world feel. The bruschetta was amazing, I had the fresh made farfalle while others at the tabled raved about their veal saltimbocca. The wine selection is excellent as well as the desserts. Highly recommend the place.
Absolutely beautiful place. Great for a nice family dinner and delicious Italian food. If you tell them your birthday, they give you a voucher for a free bottle of wine or champagne, as well as a birthday card every year. Classy business, we need more of them around. 👌🏻
In town for work and someone recommended we try this place. Such amazinggg pizza! Was quick and fresh. They took care of us and brought us complementary slices since we were out of town. Need to try if you’re ever around or need a new place!
Amazing experience! First time coming here and now we’re going to be life long customer. The ambiance, food and service was out of this world! BTW Darius was awesome, knowledgeable and patient with us newbies. He deserves a RAISE!
I have been to this restaurant twice to celebrate my family's member birthday. I had pasta with seafood and wine enjoyed appetizers. Nice decor and ample seating
Visited family for the weekend, and dropped in. Was guided through slice options and was given a generous portion, and informed that a table opened up. A genuine and gracious atmosphere to match their crisp and delicious pizza. Even went back the following night, and had a similar experience. I don’t live on Long Island anymore, but will be back when I visit. Stands out among establishments for its service, quality, and personable staff!
I didn’t take any photos of my visit(Valentine’s Day 2026). This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. I’m not local to NY but come frequently to visit family and this will be a go to spot forever now. The grandma’s is far and away the highlight and I’d put it up against YOUR favorite spot in a blind tasting. Come here and you won’t be disappointed.
The choices of pizza were abundant. The pizza was delicious probably the best I've had this far. The fried cappelinni was amazing. This place is FIRE. We will definitely be back.
King Umberto's is by far the best pizza spot around. They've expanded into a full restaurant and bar, but my review is for the classic pizza shop up front. As soon as you walk through the corner entrance, you’re in the quintessential old school pizza place. The staff is what you would imagine from a NY pizza crew, but incredibly generous. Several times I’ve had them throw in an extra slice which absolutely is above and beyond and makes my day. The pizza itself is extraordinary. Their grandma slice is one of my favorites, and the metro is one of their specialties. While you can’t go wrong with the classic slices, grab a few non traditional ones and treat yourself to a great experience. I gladly go out of my way for pizza from this place, so it’s well worth a trip!
We just had a delicious lunch. The service was impeccable, a warm and well trained staff served delicious Italian American cuisine. The decor for the holidays is over the top and sure to get you in the spirit. The bread and focaccia was sublime.
Dined at King Umberto for the 1st time on Sat. I had wanted to try this restaurant for a long time, and happy to say, it met all expectations. Although we had to wait for a few minutes for our table (we had a reservation), we were seated shortly, at a table, that by today's standards was generous in size) and spaced nicely apart from the other tables in our section. The environment is lively and the ceiling is covered with large floral arrangements; in December the restaurant is known for the addition of its over-the-top Christmas decorations. Diners should be aware that when full, the noise level is high. Wait staff are well trained; they were attentive, without being obtrusive, serving courses and removing plates when we finished in a timely way, which added to comfortable pacing of the meal. Our server Walter was experienced and well versed in the menu. After getting some recommendations, we ordered the fried capellini appetizer, which we were told was one of the restaurant's signature dishes. I ordered the short ribs with homemade pasta and my guest ordered the chicken Milanese. All entrees come with a side salad, which is a nice touch, albeit an ordinary combination of iceberg lettuce and some assorted vegetables. Our entrees came out promptly. My plate contained two extremely tender and large boneless short ribs and a generous portion of homemade pasta, which was sauced the same as the short ribs. My guest's Chicken Milanese consisted of an enormous thinly pounded and breaded cutlet topped with an arugula salad dressed lightly with oil and vinegar. Both entrees were too large for us to finish, allowing for us to take the remainder home to enjoy today. To end the meal, I ordered a double decaf expresso, which was made with quality coffee and came with a small biscotti. My guest somehow found room to order chocolate gelato, which came with three large scoops, which he finished, happily. We will definitely return to sample more.
My family and I came here recently and absolutely loved it. We tried to get a table in the Patio but they had no seating. They called the pizza shop, which is their original area, to check if they had room and got us a table their instead. The dinning area was quaint, comfortable, and nicely decorated for the holidays. The service was excellent, they even gave us a complimentary Christmas gift, a set of metal measuring spoons with their logo on it. We each loved the food, saved it and had leftovers the next night. We ordered the Tagliatelle Cacciatore, Penne a la Vodka, Baked Ziti, Capellini Cakes, and Mozzarella Sticks. If we lived closer we would absolutely go their more often.
The food and the service was excellent. From the baked clams and the fried calamari to the sides of linguine and olive oil and garlic were excellent. The main course was broiled veal chop on the bone and also the pounded veal with bruschetta. Both were cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the tiramisu and the hottest cup of cappuccino and espresso you could ever ask for. Oh I forgot to mention the focaccia and the olive oil was fresh. All the restaurants give you two pieces of bread and that's it. Not here.
We went here 2 nights in a row. First night to the restaurant. The food was outstanding, service was excellent. The wine list is AMAZING! There are some gems for some really good prices. Will definitely go back. 2nd night we ate in the pizzeria. If your want great NY Pizza, it is hard to top this!
Just had the five-course tasting menu at Serrata, by King Umberto’s, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The food was a work of art, bursting with amazing flavors and thoughtful presentation. I enjoy picking the wine; however, went for the wine pairings instead. They were spot-on and complimented each course perfectly. The ambiance is stunning, warm, and welcoming. The vibe from the open kitchen design was amazing and the expansive glass enclosed wine room, just jaw dropping. The staff worked hard to elevate our fine dining experience without being overbearing, just attentive and genuine. The whole experience: ten out of ten. Highly recommend!!
excellent pizza. Ordered a grandma pie, fried calamari and fried capellini. I asked if a pizza i saw being closed up in box was a margherita because i was curious, and everyone makes it differently. They said it was, and they gave me a slice on the house to try! What a friendly place. note: I couldn't even wait before eating to take a pic, so you see a half eaten slice of margherita! That's plenty of fresh mozzarella and basil on there.
No, I don’t even know where to start. I know I’m Italian but this is this is insane. I’ve never had such amazing Italian food at such great quality and great speed. I always like to get my fettuccine with some cheese on top of it. It’s perfect The Parmesan they give is spectacular. I’ve never had Parmesan this good and crispy Not to be crispy, but that’s the best word I can use to describe this extraordinary event that I feel like everyone should experience in their lifetime of living. The beautiful environment that this place captures is impressive and I just want everyone to know that this is the patio place to go. Also, if you guys are into drinks, they have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages that are just beyond extraordinary. Kid friendliness is all the way up there. They’re very friendly to the children and they give them coloring books too. I think this is the best way to go if you want that Italian food at a good price good quality and good seating I’ve never once had an issue with seating and also I heard that they renovated. I’ve seen the renovation in person. It is beautiful highly recommend to bring all your family and friends and loved ones and colleagues. Thank you so much.
We came here for lunch because we took our cats to see the vet in the area. If not because of my cats, we wouldn't be here, although we heard about it from Hubby's friend, who also owns a lot of cats. We returned for lunch again the second time because we found an excuse to bring another cat to the vet. I need to adopt and rescue more cats to keep coming back. Eric was our waiter twice and was very attentive and professional. He's the man! Everything was so good here. We had seafood salad, pizza with broccoli rabe, and seafood pasta, which was enough for two. We also tried their baked clams, which were good. We had chicken scarpariello, and this was amazing! Another dish we tried was spaghetti in clam sauce. Everything was the best here, especially the seafood pasta. The restaurant has a pizza section and a regular restaurant on the other side. It's a nice restaurant with comfortable seats. We had a great experience dining here. We loved the food, and the service was excellent! We’ll come back!
Always go to Umberto’s before hitting an Islanders game, love this place. Food is always outstanding and the atmosphere is tremendous.

First visit today was predicated on the recommendation of a friend who grew up in the area. A good omen upon arrival…a parking spot right outside the door. Had made a reservation for 6 a week bef…
It has been a long time since we dined at this ‘jewel’. Mostly because we moved out of the area. We were so pleased with our dinner. Appetizers were fried calamari & mussels. Both excellent. The …
Pretty good spot here sat on the Patio side it definitely beautiful inside great vibes atmosphere and the food was pretty good as well had the veal park was very thin and tender sauce was delicious vodka sauce was delicious as well the bread was great to start off and the peanut butter moose was good as well definitely will be back need to try some pizza next time as well
Our group has been to King Umbertos for our Holiday Dinner a few years in a row. This year we were surprised to have to stand and wait 50 minutes past our reservation time. In addition, some of the dishes, although Served family style, seemed smaller than previous which was noticeable. Pasta dishes remained the previous size. Bruschetta was very good as an appetizer.
From the pizzeria, dining room, and especially the patio, the vibes are lovely. Pizza concoctions are fun and delicious. I've sat in the pizzeria, and nine times out of ten, the counter staff has brought other specialty slices to the table to try. Servers are friendly all around. In my opinion, the patio has the best vibe overall, and the ambiance in there cranks it up a couple of notches. Not to mention fully uniformed wait staff with exemplary service. All of this plus amazing food makes for an elevated dining experience. Great food, great atmosphere. We were seating near the far side of the restaurant where there was a door and people were coming in and out setting up for an event, this made our table very cold (December). After letting the host know it got better. Service was okay, always had to flag someone down for more water. Would consider returning as the food was good!
Somewhat slow and very loud this heralded spot offers outstanding food in an Post Covid setting. It is not a good choice if you want a quiet setting but the food offers a good reason to go anyway.

Went with a group of 15 and will give them credit for just taking us. We waited awhile (60 min)after our reservation time but understandable with a group our size. Our treatment was great and the f…
We had a party of seven and all ordered different items. The appetizers, main dishes and deserts were plentiful and delicious. Try the seafood salad. It is chocked full of seafood. The meals are …
Very nice and spacious patio, which can accommodate large groups of people. Very nice and friendly stuff. However, the food, to my taste simply is not that good. Yes it is fresh and well prepared, it is just "old school " Italian food. I mean that pasta is overcooked and plain. This is simply not my favorite.
King Umberto is not really suited for people who prefer desi flavors or fast food. It’s more of a fine-dining, upscale restaurant with a very classic and elegant vibe. The place feels more appropriate for formal events like birthdays, weddings, or special occasions, especially if you enjoy traditional European/Italian-style dining. It’s definitely on the fancy side and caters to a specific crowd. Good option for formal gatherings, but not ideal if you’re looking for casual or quick comfort food.
Very beautiful restaurant but the service was poor. Reservation was for 7:15pm didn’t get food until 8:30pm. As I’m typing this it is now 9:08pm and the check has not been bought to us yet . I do understand the holiday rush but this long in a restaurant with little or no interaction is unacceptable .
Food was okay, and little pricey for what portions are given personally. It was very crowded due to the holiday which made service not top notch, brings out everyone's entree except 2 people in our party who waited a good 20 mins. Lastly atmosphere, ambiance was not good. The outdoor add on is terrible. You smell exhaust from the outside, while eating?. Its not right, nor comfortable in any way.
I had high hopes for King Umberto’s after hearing so many good things, but my experience didn’t live up to the hype. The pasta I ordered had poor presentation—just sauce thrown on top—and it lacked flavor, seasoning, and salt. The calamari was soggy and unappetizing, and I tried one other dish (not sure what it was called), but that didn’t hit the mark either. Service was also slow—I had a hard time getting a server’s attention, which might’ve been due to the holiday rush. That said, the restaurant itself is clean and has a nice atmosphere. It just needs improvement when it comes to food quality and consistency. Personally, I prefer Umberto’s in New Hyde Park.
The restaurant is stunning. Absolutely gorgeous and beautifully decorated. This is very much a catering hall more than a restaurant. Definitely recommend for large groups or if you plan on hosting a party like baby shower, bridal shower, birthday, even maybe a casual wedding. This place could be perfect for you. Reason for the mid tier rating is because the food was just OK. Not bad but also not great either. It's very much the quality you'd expect from like a catering hall. I enjoyed it but it just didn't blow me away that way I expected it to. Drinks were strong and yummy.
We reserved a table for 8. Seated about 20 minutes late. What made this visit so disappointing was the waiter. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. Throughout our 2 1/2 hours in an extremely noi…
Decided to try this place after hearing good things about the restaurant, Anyway just want to say food was average and over priced for what we had . I have been to many restaurants I definitely …
My family has dined at KU for the past 18 years, not routinely but often enough to hold the restaurant in high regards, choosing it for special occasions. Rosario was always welcoming, Joseph was our waiter. We still have many polaroid photos from all the birthdays spent there. I’ve been out of state for 4 years and was eager to show my gf a great meal here. But so much had changed. The chicken parmesan (my go to) was quite frankly… disgusting. The sauce was strange watery pink and tasteless. The chicken chewy and mealy and too thick. The breading soggy, falling off and having no texture. Way too much cheese. One bite tasted like soap.. there must have been some residue on the plate from cleaning. And the side salad isn’t included with the entree anymore. You have to pay extra for it. Fortunately the bread basket and potato croquettes were still great. But it’s clear to me that through either a change in clientele expectations, management, or employee skillsets the quality of the food here has plummeted, and it is not the place i so remembered and loved. Sadly I will not be returning.
Took my family of four to dinner last night at King Umberto's expecting an amazing dining experience. BOY, were we disappointed! Although the room was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the waiters were prompt and attentive, the food, of all things, was where King Umberto's failed, big time. We started with two appetizers, baked clams and a pot of mussels pepate. The clams were flavorful but surprisingly tiny. The mussels, on the other hand, had no flavor whatsoever. We tried stirring the pot and laddeling the broth over the mussels, but even the broth had no flavor so it made no difference. My son ordered veal marsala, his favorite dish. When it arrived, it came with the smallest side of pasta I've ever seen. We were all in disbelief. How could the kitchen staff serve such a miniscule portion of pasta to a customer? They should be embarrassed. My son said the marsala sauce was nothing more than gravy with mushrooms. The chef must have forgotten, veal marsala requires real marsala wine in the mix. My wife had the Italian classic, linguini with clams. Upon arrival it looked fantastic, with a heaping mound of clams over pasta. After nearly 15 minutes of pulling clams out of their shell, she finally got around to eating. While tasty and garlicky, she said she'd had better, and it didn't help that her dish was by now, cold. My double stuffed pork chop with cavatelli on the side and my daughter's cavatelli in a white bolognese sauce, both from the Specials Menu, were good, but not at all "special." In the end, our check came to just over $200 which struck me as quite hefty given that we did not have wine, soda, or dessert. I wouldn't have minded had King Umberto's provided an outstanding meal and dining experience, but we left shaking our heads in wonder. One last thought, upon arrival, I approached the front desk and checked in with the hostess. We were right on time for our reservation. Normally, the hostess at a fine restaurant will greet her customers in a friendly and welcoming manner. Not this one. For whatever reason, she never broke a smile and coldly directed us to wait off to the side. Maybe she was having a bad day, I don't know, that's really not my problem. She should have done her best to greet us warmly and make us feel welcome.
Sat in tent and felt cold had to wear my coat. Food was not great. Cappuccino was cold. Bathroom terrible and one stall broken. Food was not flavorful. Very disappointed. Waiters were good but so busy hard to get them.
I had high expectations for this place but was extremely disappointed. The food was so bland we were trying to add salt hoping it would help but nothing could save it. We waited over 20 minutes for our meal to come out and for it to be so mid, the chicken was so dry. Never coming again. The only thing that was good was the Calamari and the waiter was nice.
I was there for a catered event, not a fan of the food. I would give the pizza a try next time if in the area, but I would not go out of my way to do so.
So I just had lunch at King Alberto‘s and I ordered a half an order of Pomodoro sauce with gluten-free pasta. I was charged the full amount which is 1850 for a half an hour when I brought it to the attention of the manager he said oh that’s because when you order a half order, we charge you $15 which it does not say anywhere on their menu only BS but very disappointing. I’ve been coming to King Umberto since I’m 10 years old. I’m well over 60 years old. It was the principle of going back to a restaurant who you’ve been patronizing For over 40 years and to get as I told the manager. Or Having a half in order is not right We are talking about pasta with tomato sauce here not an expensive item. He could’ve done the right thing. His idea of the right thing was giving me a full order still charging me the 1850 and giving me more than what I wanted because I ordered a huge salad that was $19 the salad. well, it’s a popular place because the food is good but I think if you keep on mistreating your customers, you’re not gonna go foreign life as they say God don’t like ugly so don’t try to cheat people. It’s never the right thing to do you just lost a customer who’s been going to you for over 40 years or something so ridiculous. I hope the few dollars that you’re putting in your pocket. Was worth it shame on you so beware King Alberto’s is not what it used to be the old folk that started this place are not around !!! Shame on you! I have to say the young girl that was the waitress Marcelo number 156. She was excellent.
All the “great” pizza spots were closed because of the weather. Pizza Hut was open. That’s all I’m saying. 🍕 …feeling too comfortable I guess
I have visited this restraunt more than once for special occasions. For my sister's birthday, she made the reservations over the phone with Sarah. She did not receive a confirmation (via open table or text message), we arrive at the restaraunt and Sarah says the reservations are canceled. Ok. She tries to explain there is no confirmation, and then tried to accommodate us. The disgusting owner comes over and starts yelling at us that the reservation is canceled and we didn't confirm. Even IF that was the case, why are you yelling at customers in front of an entire restaurant? This behavior is disgusting and I doubt this would have happened to non-colored customers. It was embarassing. The server was wonderful, food was mediocre and took too long to come out.
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in years. I went to King Umberto’s in Elmont last night with my mom for a festive dinner before heading to a show. We had a reservation, arrived on time, and were seated immediately. So far, so good. It quickly went downhill. It took a few minutes for a waiter to come over, but the restaurant was busy—no big deal. Then we waited at least 25 minutes for our appetizer, only for the wrong one to arrive. The waiter apologized and said he put in the wrong order. Another 25 minutes later, the correct appetizer finally arrived—cold. At this point, we were already close to an hour in, but we didn’t complain because we were trying to stay calm and make our show on time. Then came the real issue: another 45 minutes passed before our entrees arrived. They were ice cold. Not lukewarm—cold. We sent them back and specifically said we did not want them microwaved, and that we wanted fresh dishes. We explained we were attending a show and should have been finishing dinner by now, since it had already been an hour and a half since we were seated. The waiter asked for 10 minutes. Ten minutes later, he returned with food that was very clearly microwaved. When we asked if it had been microwaved, he said yes, because the kitchen was very busy and didn’t have time to make fresh meals. Let that sink in. The meals were “fresh” at some point—because they were cold. This wasn’t a kitchen issue. This was a service issue. And at no point did the waiter actually apologize. He just kept repeating that the kitchen was backed up. When we spoke to the host, all he offered was to take the entrees off the bill—since we didn’t eat them. No apology. No effort to make it right. No concern that we had just wasted two full hours in their restaurant with nothing to show for it. We left hungry and had to get drive-thru fast food before our show. Yes, the decorations are festive. But maybe less effort should go into appearances and more into basic customer service, especially for guests with reservations. If you can’t honor reservations or handle your volume, don’t take them. Completely unacceptable.
