Opinions de Gam Tu Bop Glendale
One of the few places in Los Angeles where you can get a good meal for less than $10. Their rice balls are delicious and hot - made to order. I love the pork and the eel. I love the way they package them to go, seaweed on the side so as not to get soggy. Their rolls are good too. A great quick spot to pickup lunch or a snack.
Wow, the rice balls are incredibly delicious! The beef one was by far my favorite one. Rich in flavor. Spicy shrimp was second best and I’d probably substitute the crab meat for a different flavor next time. 10/10 Cheap and well packaged. Loved the salted seaweed.
The food was 10/10. The price was good. We had to take it across the street to outdoor seating because there was no dining in.
Tasty affordable rice balls with generous amounts of various Japanese and Korean fillings! This place is so good it's literally always my first stop when I drive in from Sacramento. My favorites are spicy shrimp, beef bulgogi, unagi (eel), spicy pork and kim chee. I love that the rice balls are individually wrapped and labeled and the nori (seaweed) to wrap them in is packaged separately. I love that it's Korean nori too. Great for takeout, travels well, fast friendly service. To go orders only. If you can't find parking out front there is a parking structure just around the corner that gives you free parking for the first 90 minutes.
I’ve been going to Gam Tu Bop for like 6 years now and I really like them! Their food is affordable and they have a pretty good selection. Everything from beef to mushroom rice balls and I really like their shrimp rice rolls. Just be sure to double check your order to make sure you have enough seaweed wraps. Everyone I’ve taken here really likes it and I usually comes here every time I go to Glendale Galleria
The onigiri rice balls at Gam Tu Bop are on point. The rice is nicely packed without being too compacted, the fillings are delicious and generous, and I LOVE that the seaweed is packed separately from the rice balls so that when you're ready to eat, it is crispy! The service is quick and the onigiri are very reasonably priced. There is no indoor dining/tables available for you to sit and eat your onigiri at, but that's all good with me as it's the perfect food to take to go. This is a great stop if you want some fast cheap eats to take on the go!
I got the beef and spicy shrimp rice balls - they were excellent! Also got the miso soup.
Great unplanned find walking around. Beef rice ball is like beef bulgogi and very tasty!! It's all good. Good selection of fillings. Nice staff.

I love this place! Consistent, truly delicious, and inexpensive. Definitely my favorite place to get lunch or an in-between meal in Glendale. My go-tos are the beef, spicy pork and crab flavors, the salmon is super tasty as well.
By far this is the best rice ball place I’ve ever been to. I used to live a block from here and I would order take out from here multiple times a week. Now that I don’t live nearby, I stop here every time I’m in the area. My favorites are spicy shrimp and unagi (eel). The unagi does have small flexible bones once in a while but that is just part of ordering eel anywhere. Still amazing! My partner loves the chicken teriyaki! This place is by far my favorite savory restaurant in the Glendale area. Great, filling meal for $6-$9 ish depending on how hungry you are (2-3 🍙). Tons of outdoor seating across the street. I’ve tried 🍙 restaurants in Santa Monica, Pasadena, and Northridge. This one has the best filling and the best ratio/the most filling. Everything tasted fresh, does not taste like preservatives. A must try when you’re in the area! Or even when you’re not! 🍙🍙🍙
These rice balls are stuffed with so much delicious filling! The rice was cooked to perfection and the fillings were so flavorful! I've had the chicken curry and the teriyaki, and my daughter has tried four of the other flavors and we have never been disappointed!
I could eat here every day and never get bored. Cheap onigiri with generous filling and expertly seasoned dried seaweed. They're very quick at making these, and it takes me even less time to eat them. Two or three of these rice balls make the perfect lunch, and I don't ever regret ordering from here. Love you Gam Tu Bop, never change.
i go here nearly every week to get a cheap lunch. a full meal is under $10, which is rare for LA! not to mention the food is genuinely delicious. a great option if you’re on the go or if you just want a quick lunch. the service is amazingly fast; i almost always get my food in 5 mins or less. there’s no dining allowed in the establishment, but there are a bunch of public tables that are a 1 minute walk away. just walk straight through the arch and past benjamin franklin. thank you gam tu bop! i hope you never close! i’m your biggest fan.
I travel from Orange County to Glendale for this once a month, I live for the the rice balls. Would take that hour drive every time no regrets. Food is always hot, high quality and delicious. I order the spicy pork and beef and it is always delicious, never fails. Employees are always friendly and willing to help if you have any questions. Keep in mind that parking is not available, you have to park on a busy street which to me is not a problem and it is take out only again not a problem for me.

I mean, pretty straight-forward. Stuff wrapped in rice, then all that wrapped in dried seaweed. The way they give it to you is interesting. To fit all sorts of flavor palettes, they give you not just white rice, but a choice of brown rice. Then there's all sorts of different fillings to choose from. And Rather than simply just giving them to you all wrapped up in the dried seaweed, because the place is just designed for takeout, they know you're going to take this elsewhere, and not necessarily know when you're going to eat it. So to prevent the food from getting cold, or touching the rice with the moisture ruining the seaweed, they wrap the seaweed separately, and each individual portion you ordered is also wrapped. Then, it's just a matter of taking out the seaweed, and then dumping the rice with fillings on top, and folding the seaweed to wrap the rice yourself. Voila! Really straightforward, no fuss. I like it! The only thing is, I did ask for napkins in my order, but I should've asked for some before I stepped out.
Wow! A great find in a huge row of food available. This is more of a quick fix shop. I highly recommend the shrimp & beef onigiri (rice ball). The salmon is overcooked and underwhelming. The tamago (egg) is okay.

I have been coming to Gam Tu Bop for several years now. Before 2020. I was in 3 times this week alone. Everything is great usually when it comes to the food. Always delicious & always very filling. The only small complaint I did have on my most recent visit this week was that some of the rice balls were significantly smaller & did not have very much filling. I had 4 of the crab & 2 of them were significantly lacking crab. They were more rice & I have never experienced that before. Other than that they have even improved on the wait time. Previously it would take around 20-30 minutes easily to get an order out. Recently I have been pleasantly surprised by the prompt fulfillment of the orders.
I’ve had my share of rice balls. And, this place makes them strangely! They give you a separate sheet of roasted seaweed, which is normally wrapped around the rice ball at other places. Here, you have to wrap it yourself. I didn’t like the fact that it was “fussy” to eat it, and I found the beef to be too salty! They really should improve their packaging, too, as the plastic wrap didn’t seem appropriate for hot food.
Simple but tasty rice balls filled with assorted toppings. Spicy shrimp and crab good mushroom. Tasty parking dicey here

I just got an order had to pay additional for spicy mayo and half of it is gone? Crazy
The food was good, but what made bad was the fact that I was asked to leave because I sat down to eat my rice ball. There is no Dine In. As a 7 month pregnant woman I would have expected more. But I get it. I’m just simply not going back there.
