Refined, but not stuffy, atmosphere at this farm-to-table Greenwich Avenue restaurant by Chef Brian Lewis. Love the creative cocktail menu (try the Japanese Vesper). Food menu suggests sharing with lots of small plates and some larger items. Truffled deviled eggs, lobster spaghetti and the mushroom agnolotti were great. Will repeat
If you seek an elevated / trendy yet super cozy place for date night or girls’ night out, head to The Cottage, which is located in the heart of downtown Greenwich, Connecticut. Here, the cottage-coastal vibes are so strong, the service is a 10/10, and the food is absolutely delicious! (We snagged a cute little booth by the front windows—one of the best seats in the house.) Highly recommend kicking your meal off with “Turn the Lights On” cocktail (mezcal, St. Germain, pineapple, and Rockey’s) and the Kusshi oysters on the half shell, which has a citrusy yuzu mignonette. For mains, I had my eye on the sweet street corn tortelloni, and it did not disappoint.
The Cottage is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm yet upscale ambiance sets the tone for an incredible dining experience. The service was attentive and welcoming. I started with an espresso martini, which was perfectly balanced. The crab toast was a standout appetizer—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For mains, the Cottage burger was cooked to perfection, and the lobster spaghetti was rich. To end the meal on a sweet note, the cookies and milk dessert was a nostalgic yet elevated treat.
Went last night with a few friends with no reservation. So we waited about twenty minutes and we’re able to get seats at the bar, but only two of three seats. Not the end of the world. The hostess was able to accommodate our party of three a few minutes later at the bar facing the kitchen. That’s when we met Christian the Executive Chef. Had great conversation with him throughout the night! What a great first time experience!! Can’t wait to go back!
I had a reservation but decided to stay at the bar for my full dining experience. The bartenders were attentive and helpful when it came for recommendations. The food was tasty and amazing, the highlight of my dinner was their mushroom risotto, followed by their beef tartare. My favorite drink was the Apres Ski!
We love it here! Only ever been to the Westport location before this visit but this one holds up. Honestly one of our favorite restaurants in Connecticut. You can't go wrong with anything in the menu, but you may need to be a little adventurous. The Waygu Bao Buns and Deviled Eggs are must orders imo. I had to stop paying attention to the conversation when I first ate the Bao Buns. Cocktails are solid, they have an Amaro flight that's AMAZING. Desserts are similarly unique (mostly). Honestly, check out the menu and if anything seems even mildly interesting you owe to to yourself too go here. One note - Dress here is somewhat upscale. Jeans and a polo are a minimum for guys. Button downs and nice jeans are in the middle. You won't get turned away or anything, but you might stand out. Wanted to mention this so other people might avoid my mistake. Last thing - I'm obsessed with the bathrooms here. I took pictures for a potential future remodel, lol. Love the tiles and the walls.
The experience vs pricing can be good if you know what to order. This restaurant has the best truffle & wagyu dishes in Greenwich. Appetizers are good too, but the price of pasta dishes have almost doubled from $40 to $60 within a month since opening. so...much as i like this restaurant, i have been priced out already and can only dine here maybe on the rare occasions, or maybe stick to a few classic dishes like the wagyu burger & salmon April 12 - First time trying sea urchin. I tried it before the price doubled, lucky me😁😁 it was $40 for the full portion and i probably would eat this or the lobster pasta every week if the prices of both didn't increase that much (it is now $60 for the same dish). The sea urchin pasta is very delicious, the crab meat is fresh. I love it although I'm not typically a fan of raw seafood. April 19 - Nice, clean open kitchen. Came back to other pasta, eg, lobster, but found that the price have doubled. So, I just ordered the burger ($24), medium well. It's delicious!! **WiFi connection is very convenient..it is a great place to enjoy a meal, drinks & simultaneously take work calls, check emails & socialize. Thank you for providing reliable wifi. Very nice staff
Came with friends. Will definitely be back. Food was excellent.
Met two friends for lunch. We had a reservation, and we were seated promptly. We were never rushed, but we got beautiful, friendly service when we needed it. The drinks menu is excellent with a selection of cocktails without alcohol, with alcohol and with a little alcohol. We had the latter which was a lovely concoction of orange and Campari. The Kabocha squash tempura was yummy. I liked the design and color palette of the restaurant. It seemed to encourage conversation. Prices reasonable given today's costs. An excellent addition to Greenwich Avenue.
We had such an amazing time here! The drinks and food are great. Service is great. Will be back!
Really enjoy every meal I have here. Service is great. Thanks chef Brian for the delightful appetizers you sent over.
Chef Brian Lewis impressed us with his take on deviled eggs...amasing...then the fall tasting blew us away...that burger was tasty! service on point...its a mainstay!! Run over!
Great food, attentive staff.
This is one of the most extraordinary dining experiences my wife and I have had in years. Service, Ambiance, and Food were all world class. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
The Greenwich location is just as enjoyable as their Westport location. The food is always unique and great flavors. The Greenwich location is a larger restaurant and more open which tends to make it louder. I prefer the cosy feel of Westport.
Great service and excellent food. Reservations are hard to get, so make sure to reserve in advance (especially for an occasion!) Can’t wait to return.
Nice option for a brunch on Greenwich Avenue. Cosy theme, comforting and well executed food, good service.
I, seriously, do not understand the negative reviews. I have only had amazing experiences every time I enter the place. Everything is beyond expectations and the staff are so welcoming and knowledgeable. I love this place!
Most of the menu is solid, but there are a few real bangers in there. Personal favorites - the Cloudy Tokyo and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Sundae
I ate here for the first time after walking past it many times and not even noticing it. The food here is fantastic!! Great salads, great eggs and excellent coffee. The bread! The interior is bright and modern with plenty of excellent selections at the bar. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely incredible. The food is amazing - truly every single dish is delicious (can't go wrong with the burger though), the service is excellent, and the ambiance is lovely.
Wife and I frequent The Cottage and usually sit at the bar but we broke two rules last night and visited ON Valentine's Day (we never go to restaurants on the actual V Day) AND sat at a table. The 5 course fixed menu was absolutely amazing. Every dish was special, cooked to order, delivered at the appropriate pace, and with excellent service. Massive kudos to the kitchen staff for not cutting corners on the food which often happens on Valentine's Day menus. It was out best meal at the Cottage since it opened... and there have been more than a few before this.
Exceptional dining experience, the food was simply to die for! Outstanding service & ambience! Our seafood plates were beyond fresh & my brisket melted in my mouth. We will surely be back for more of Brian Lewis' wonderfully creative menu. We highly recommend The Cottage to all our friends & family.
I’d been wanting to hear for a while, as I love oko, and it was so good!! The food was inventive and delicious. The whipped hummus was amazing as were all the apps. Even the drinks were creatively crafted - my drink had avocado syrup and blue corn salt on the rim.
Love the atmosphere, good food and wonderful service ❤️
Walked in on a random late Tuesday night and got seated at the bar. The food was fantastic!!! Blake and James at the bar were so friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Chef Brian Lewis served the Hudson Valley Foie Gras himself. It was delicious and the plating was beautiful and creative. We also really enjoyed the Prime Rib Bao Bun and the Crab & Uni linguine. Great cocktails and non-alcoholic mock tails for people who don’t drink. So excited that the Cottage is in Greenwich and we can’t wait to go back!
The service was top-notch from every employee there. We tried several dishes and the best were the spicy scallop tartare, the bao bun, and the bay scallop entre. The vibe was great and I would definitely recommend. A little pricey, but that seems to be the case for mediocre restaurants too these days.
Absolutely the BEST new restaurant in Greenwich. Staff is extremely friendly and professional. Interiors are modern but warm. Food is outstanding. There are good chefs. There are great chefs. And then, there's Brian Lewis.
Incredible meal all around. Sat at the bar and loved the vibe, Diego is so friendly and helpful. The menu is fresh and creative with very interesting and playful dishes. Highlights were bao buns, fois gras, and the cocktails. Will definitely go back to try more plates!!
Food was beautifully crafted and service was excellent. Crab toast with Bearnaise butter was outstanding. Chicken with morels and Bass were both exceptional.
I’ve seen some mixed reviews for this location recently, and frankly, I don’t know what those people are talking about. If you didn’t have a 5-star meal here, you simply ordered wrong. This is execution at the highest level. While I was initially disappointed to see the famous Duck Fried Rice off the menu at this location, the kitchen more than made up for it. We pivoted to the Hudson Valley Duck Tortelloni, and it was a revelation—curried duck confit with coconut peri peri and sunflower dukkah. It brought that same rich, savory satisfaction I was looking for, but with a more refined, pasta-forward delivery. The classics are still hitting hard, too. The Wagyu Brisket Bao Buns remain undefeated; the duck fat potato tempura inside is still the best textural move in Connecticut dining. We also did the Spicy Scallop Tartare, which comes on this perfectly crispy block of sushi rice. It’s a bite of pure precision. For the main, the Miso Marinated Black Cod was the standout. It’s served with a coconut celery root puree that complements the buttery fish perfectly. Ignore the noise. The Cottage in Greenwich is firing on all cylinders.
If you’re looking for a refined dining experience in Greenwich with creative modern American cuisine, The Cottage is a very solid choice. The atmosphere and food combine nicely for special occasions or when you want something a bit elevated. Just be aware of the price point and that the menu leans more towards inventive dishes than traditional comfort fare
Delicious and upscale restaurant in Greenwich! Pricey menu and smaller serving sizes, but perfect for special occasions and date nights. Loved their unique appetizers and cocktails! Will definitely come back to try more of the menu!
I'm always happy to find duck on the menu. Ordered an appetizer with duck and the duck breast . My gf ordered the burger as she had heard about it from a friend. The appetizer was very good, but only two small pieces of duck to go with it. The duck breast came prepared 3 different ways, one of which was amazing and the other two ok. The burger was not as amazing as expected. And the service felt a little rushed. Other then that it was very nice.
Great service. They’ve been open for a couple months but it is still a bit hard to get prime reservation times (6-7) through OpenTable but it Is worth giving them a call or reserve to make adjustments. I liked their foie gras and crispy rice.
Food is ok, but for that price it should be better. Atmosphere is nice, and staff was nice and the menu was interesting until it arrived. Duck was good, other dishes were more complicated than they needed to be and not well executed.
Surprising, eclectic flavors and combinations. Had their spicy squid & pork belly appetizer, surprisingly worked together well! The wagyu beef short ribs as main course was rich and satisfying. Went again a couple weeks later because I craved those to dishes, and I wasn't disappointed 😊
Reservation at 8, table wasn’t ready until 8:20. Ordered only appetizers which came Quickly at first and the remainder came at 9:30 a full hour after seating. Service was slow and a bit aloof. Food was relatively a tasty but wouldn’t go back. Not worth the wait or the money.
Much to do about nothing, waited a month to get in and the food was better than average but nothing outstanding. We were celebrating a birthday and we expected so much more because of the hype. Even the cocktails were mediocre.
Wait staff was attentive. Food was bland. Cottage salad and Tagliatelle had no flavor. I became sick within 1 1/2 hrs of eating there. Not a place I would recommend.
Overall a really lackluster experience. The servers weren't knowledgeable about their wine list or the ingredients of their cocktails. 5 minutes later the bartender tells us he doesn't have the ingredients prepped to make the all bark no bite so we had to choose another one. The deviled eggs tasted fine, the spicy scallop tartare tasted stale and of refrigerator. The manager, Ralph, was more interested in being on his phone throughout the service and was very standoffish. Won't be back again.
This is not the place for pancake lovers. The current batter recipe tasted of baking soda. I would not order pancakes at Cottage again.
Unbelievably bad service by management. It was a Saturday night, non-holiday weekend, and we had made this reservation a month ago. We got there a few minutes (10) early. “We’ll call you when your reservation is available.” Initially it makes sense. They’re busy. We’ll come back. Then… they call us to come to our table. “The chef just gave away your reservation.” No joke. Gave it to his childhood friends without warning. So that’s cool. I get it. The food is great. The service once you sit down is great. Overall, though, tough. You just can’t treat people like this and think it’s fine. We had to wait 45 extra minutes to be sat. The round of free drinks was nice, but come on!! Unreal. Never going back and telling everyone I know that your reservation here could just be mirage.
I was so excited to go and the service was amazing, but.... We ordered 6 tapas-style dishes for 3 of us, so I tried everything we ordered, and honestly, none of them stood out or were not great. Here is the summary: - sahimi of wild fluke- it was fishy! As in not super fresh, none of us loved it - grilled mushroom salad- the mushrooms were crunchy and tasted like croutons, mostly tasteless. Very upsetting.... That should have been heavenly - miso black cod crepe- it was ok,not super tasty, bland.... this dish should have had an umami to die for. - waygu brisket bao buns- probably the best dish, but still not something we would come back for. A little fatty and a very weird black ink dipping sauce that got all over everything and added very little flavor. - beet salad- good but nothing special In summary, it was suprisingly disappointing considering the above dishes could have been a home run. They all sounded great but left us wondering how this chef could have possibly thought this execution would be a crowd pleaser.
It's easy to get a bad review when the waitstaff are rude, management unprofessional and food being ok. Seriously, go somewhere else people. For the prices they charge the waitstaff and manager need some serious re Training for me to put up with that nonsense.
I tried this restaurant three times and really wanted to love it, but.. first time- had to wait 30 minutes for a waitress to take our order and then wrong order was brought out for my friend and my food got cold by the time they made a new meal for me. Second visit was ok, but not memorable Third time - they didn’t have two items on the menu which we ordered and they didn’t tell us until much later, they started to push us to leave (mind you, it was mid-day and restaurant was empty), and they didn’t take credit cards due to system issues, so they suggested to write it down for them. Seriously? And, of course, in the usual fashion, staff was rude. Never again!
There were many seats at the bar. I am 6 foot 3 inches tall and they insisted I sit in a spot I could not comfortably sit in. Despite options near by. They rounded my experience and the atmosphere at the bar upon entry. I left without even ordering though I planned to dine there!
This place is nothing special. Food is way over priced ($20.00 for a plate of tomato’s). More power to the chef for figuring out how to charge people $20.00 for tomato’s. The portions were tiny and the food just tasted kind of blah. Service was just as bad as the food. 10 minutes for a couple of cocktails. The waitress had an attitude problem and The manager or owner was on his cell phone half the time. Someone should buy that guy a belt. First and last time for us.
ANY restaurant should be able to cook a proper burger with hot fries. If not, then why be open, right? Went with a total of 4 people as we are regulars and go frequently. It has been great the rest of the times except for the night of 7/30. It started out well with appetizers coming out on time and they were delicious. Then when it was time for entrees...that is when everything fell apart. Someone at the table ordered a medium rare burger but it came out overcooked. And the french fries were ice cold. We tried to flag down our waiter who was MIA for a bit and then when they were finally found, we told them about the burger. They said please give them 8 minutes for a redo. Ok, we will wait 8 minutes. 8 minutes come by and go. 9 minutes come by and go. 10 minutes go by and go. Now 15 minutes come by and go. Everyone else had not only finished their entrees, but also shared it with this one person who deserved a proper cooked burger with hot fries with the other entrees. Now it is pointless to bring out the burger. We just want the check and to go home. And in all this time not one manager or anyone came over and said sorry for the wait, what could they do to make up for it? This was EXPECTED and did not happen. Then the waiter told us there was an argument in the kitchen and that is why the second burger came out late. And then on top of this, they said they will pack it up to go. Yeah...a soggy burger with ice cold fries sounds great to have at home. NOT! This was super disappointing to see not one burger be overcooked, but the second burger take forever to make. It is even more disappointing that management did not come over to the table to remedify the situation. Very poor hospitality to not do anything to make customers happy. EVERY chef should know how to cook a burger properly the FIRST time and it is a restaurants job to offer the BEST hospitality for its customers. This fell on both levels. Needless to say we will be crossing this off the list now.
What a shame. I used to come there for lunch specials and they were great. They stopped doing it (nothing last two times I’d been there). Today, I had ordered a $28 salmon dish that had about 3oz of food; no flavor and an overcooked salmon. Skip. Just skip, it’s a scam. Service was dismal too. An empty restaurant and our waiter was nowhere to be found. There was his helper who spoke no English.
