Duy (pronounced Dewey) puts a lot of love into his food. I had the best bowl of Pho I've had ANYWHERE in the city of San Diego. The braised pork belly in the photo melted in my mouth! There is parking in the back or you can park on Rosecrans. Love, love, love...not only the food but the homemade spicy chile sauce that Duy makes from chilis he grows himself! Let's give this wonderful local restauranteur our support and eat here soon!
Have you ever struggled between wanting pho and something else. Well, struggle no more….. What you need is a ….Bahn Mi Dip…. this is a life changing meal that you will crave FOREVER...... I have yet to try a Bahn Mi in SD that I enjoy as much as those I had in Vietnam. Must try this hidden gem 💎 of a place. Ps: Don't forget to dip the bahn mi into the Pho "Bahn Mi Dip" or use a spoon to get all that amazing goodness in your bahn mi.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, this humble Vietnamese bistro sits comfortably, like a beacon of culinary simplicity and authenticity. Nestled in the corner of a busy street, its modest demeanor cloaks a dining experience brimming with unpretentious quality and warmth. The star of their menu, the bánh mì, is a testament to the beauty of simplicity. Recently, however, I was compelled to try the sizzling beef, which was an absolute delight. The beef, expertly prepared, melted in my mouth – a joyous celebration of simplicity and robust flavors that speaks volumes about the kitchen's commitment to crafting unassuming yet satisfying dishes. The servers contribute significantly to the restaurant's charm. Their supportiveness, attentiveness, and warm demeanor echo the very qualities that make this establishment a beloved dining spot. Their service is an ode to the beauty of the everyday - it's a simple, but essential harmony in the composition of the dining experience. While the restaurant may seem like just another eatery on a busy street, it offers a welcoming refuge that's akin to returning home. It's the perfect spot to wind down after work, to simply sit and relish the comfort of good food and a convivial atmosphere. It embodies the charm of the familiar, a pleasure that's often overlooked in the pursuit of the novel. In summary, this restaurant is a treasure for those seeking solace in the form of homely, heart-warming cuisine. Its charm lies in its simplicity, offering a gastronomic experience that's comforting and gratifying. It's a welcoming corner of culinary pleasure that calls one back time and again, truly a testament to the joy of simple, everyday dining. Highly recommended!
Stopped by this place for a small snack/meal. The owners were very friendly and provided good service. Got the summer rolls (comes in 4 halves), thai green tea, and bf got the bahn mi with special meat and an avocado shake. Everything was delicious! Summer rolls were light and refreshing! Definitely will have to come back and try their other dishes when we have a bigger appetite as they all look good 😊
Came here because I got a free bahn mi for my birthday! I don’t eat meat often so I got the crispy tofu one. It’s a pretty big sandwich for the price and was quite good! The tofu could’ve been a little crispier on the inside it was pretty soft. The bahn mi had an awesome sauce - it wasn’t super well spread through the sandwich, but every time I got a taste of it was even more delicious. The menu has some good options and decent prices. If it were closer to me, I would certainly go back more often but will definitely try it again in the future.
Amazing spot! After traveling all day, I noticed this quaint spot. The owner was so kind and literally the food was great. The Bahn mi was so delicious. I will definitely come here every time I return to San Diego. Kind staff and the owner even grows her own chillies and herbs that we ate. 100% recommend!!
Bread 🥖 was so crusty…perfect for a this type of sandwich. The classic and the bbq pork were top notch.
The food is so good, and I love the tofu spring rolls . The peanut sauce is amazing, and creamy. Everything is so fresh, and the flavors go perfectly together. It's an amazing restaurant, and I would definitely give it a try.
This place is delicious! We got two of the Banh Mi sandwiches (beef and braised pork) and a Banh Mi salad (chicken) and everything tasted so great, the meat is seasoned perfectly and compliments everything else on the sandwich and salad. We ended up loving it so much we got 3 sandwiches to go. We also got the blood orange beer which was very nice and the sour plum drink is like a slightly sour and salty sprite and is absolutely one of my new favorite drinks. The staff is super nice and accommodating. Will be coming back often from now on.
The Thai tea was delicious 🧋 and the bánh mì was good — I would’ve loved a bit more of the mayo spread but it still hit the spot 😋. And the restaurant smelled good! The place was perfect to sit, relax, and enjoy a meal 🪑🍽️. Friendly service, great prices 💰, and a welcoming vibe. I also ordered the coconut cake 🥥🍰 (haven’t tried it yet, but it looked amazing!).
This place is fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced. Great sandwiches.
Had passed by here for months thinking we should stop in and finally did - so happy we decided to! Highly recommend pepper steak banh mi and pork belly banh mi, plus you can't miss the pork egg rolls, which came out perfectly crispy and piping hot. Service was fast and easy, everyone was quite nice. Cool history of the place on the walls, plus their numerous awards. We will definitely be returning to try the other banh mi! Didn't get any photos because we ate too fast, sorry...
Spring rolls with peanut sauce delicious! I had Pho Filet Mignon which was plentiful and tender in a beef broth with vermicelli noodles, more than I could eat and milk tea awesome cuisine!!! Great customer service as well.
We ordered the filet mignon pho and shaken beef and they were delicious. The vegetables were fresh and the beef was tender and flavourful. The service was friendly and helpful.
a tofu banh mi + 2 perfectly fried sunny side up eggs, and a grilled chicken noodle bowl was the perfect amount of food and flavor for 2 people :) service was very nice
Such a lovely vibe at @ourbanhmi It was my first time experiencing authentic Vietnamese cuisine, and I loved how the restaurant stays true to tradition. The owner was incredibly knowledgeable about Vietnamese food history and even shared some fascinating stories with us. The dishes were full of vibrant colors and flavors — my favorite was definitely the Pho Dip sandwich! 😋
Omg!! I have never had a pho dip before and I was blown away! This was so good! We came on a Friday evening and service was super quick! I do love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. We tried their pho dip, bun Bo hue, and Vietnamese shaken beef and everything was absolutely delicious!
Amazing and affordable local Vietnamese cuisine! They nailed the flavors here so much, it makes me miss visiting Vietnam. If you’ve never tried spring rolls, you must try them here! Banh mi here is so flavorful as well and loaded🤤
Came here for the “Banh Mi” sandwich with the side order of Pho broth to dip. Fantastic sandwich with TRI tip Meat! Can’t wait to try just the Pho soup! Great prices also:)
If you’re looking for authentic delicious Vietnamese food…this is your spot! I am from the Bay Area where there is a plethora of good Vietnamese food. I’ve been on the hunt to find a great spot here in SD and I strongly believe this is the one. I think I finally found the Best pho and banh mi spot in San Diego. I know that’s a big statement, but I mean it 100%. All of our food came out piping hot and all the flavor was there. I ordered the crispy tofu banh mi ($8.95), my husband got the grilled chicken banh mi ($8.95) and my toddler had a small beef bowl of pho which contained thin slices of beef, rice noodles and vegetables ($13.47). Plus two yummy cups of jasmine tea ($2.70 each). The broth surprised us the most because of how tasty it was. I met with the owner who is also a cook here, he told me the broth is marinated with beef bone for more than twenty hours. I absolutely loved how much flavor is packed into each dish. My tofu was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, soft and delicate on the inside. Even my picky toddler approves this restaurant. The total of our meal came out to $40. Which is soo affordable compared to other restaurant prices in San Diego. The staff was very attentive and kind. There is seating inside and outside. I think the seating area inside could use some remodeling and updating, but other than that — this is a spot is perfect.
Some really good food here. I can see why people love this spot. The sandwiches are delicious and their dishes are memorable.
Great place for Bahn Mi and Pho. Duy does a two day pho broth using beef shanks and knees plus seven spice/herb ingredients. His broth is a little cloudy from all the collagen and if refrigerated will set up. (Just reheat it!) We had his pork and shrimp spring rolls, house fried rice, filet of beef pho, roasted pork skewers vermicelli bowl, shaking beef and the flan. Not a bad bite in the lot. We introduced some friends to Vietnamese food and they loved it all. We check every Vietnamese restaurant for Bahn Xeo (Vietnamese pancakes) and Duy said let him know in advance and he can make it. The batter has to "bloom". I'm definitely going back for a Bahn Mi!
Stopped here for lunch after coming across an Instagram reel about their pho dip banh mi, and it did NOT disappoint! The pho broth is clean and rich and flavorful, and it’s a generous portion alongside the sandwich, which is packed with tender, flavor-bomb brisket. The bread is soft and crusty and perfect. We also tried a Cajun shrimp banh mi, and it’s basically the best shrimp po boy I’ve ever had.
We saw this place on Instagram and we HAD to try it out. The place is inviting and we were seated and helped immediately by friendly staff. I order the pho filet mignon and holy moly it was insanely good. My cousin ordered the bahn mi dip and she loved it. We had a great experience and cannot wait to go back!
Biggest and most delicious banh mi sandwich ever. Really yummy and only $7.95. Clean tables and really nice servers (the Dutch girl was super friendly) Their Restroom is a little old and dirty when I went to wash my hands. Lots of free parking in the back. Fresh veggies and perfect French bread. Their taro chip was delicious too. Egg rolls were great as well
Pho was very good very abundant meat broth tasty and balanced. Egg rolls good. Smoothie = they need to make it work. Get another thing. Place is very nice. I saw other customers getting nice meals too. Recomended!!!

This is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Ever since visiting Vietnam I've been seeking a place that makes a good banh mi and this is it for me! They have a variety of sandwiches and they even do a pho dip banh mi. I will continue coming here.
Excellent bahn mi - flavors were excellent and the bread was soft yet had a crispy crust that didn't cut up the roof of my mouth. We also had the pork egg rolls and beef broth, both of which were delicious. If we're ever back in the area, I would definitely come back.
Love this place so much that I order at least twice a week from them. They have the best spring rolls ever and the staff is so nice. Highly recommend 🤌🏽
Tried their special banh mi w/ fried egg today and was pleasantly surprised. The bread was crispy but not hard or too chewy. Meats and pate had good flavor. Friendly staff and service, I'm excited to come back and try more of their food! They have ample seating inside as well as an outdoor patio. They have a parking lot and their entrance faces the street so you have to walk around the coffee store to find it!

We were able to grab a couple banh mi and summer rolls while waiting for late lunch. The summer rolls were very good as it had the right amount of veggies and the egg roll skin was perfectly fried and gave the perfect crunch. The grilled pork banh mi was not too bad, but could've used a bit more flavor in my opinion. The banh mi dac biet was actually pretty filling with lots of meat in it. The vietnamese coffee was good, but could be a bit stronger. Everything came out pretty quick and we were able to sit outside.
Small Vietnamese restaurant where fried tofu stands out. The decor is clean. The service is courteous and fast. And the food is good. Our favorite is their fried tofu, whether it’s in rice noodles, bahn mi, or other dishes.
This place is legit. It'll easily be my go to pho place if it's near my home in the Bay area. Grilled pork rice vermicelli (dry) - The portion for the grilled pork was generous. Very nicely grilled and charred. One thing is the pork was marinated with lemongrass and I'm not crazy about lemongrass. Nonetheless, it was well marinated and tasty. The pickled Daikin and carrots were well done as well. Very flavorful. The fish sauce also done well. I prefer not concentrated personally. Filet Mignon pho - The soup was good. The meat is legit. Very tender. The pho noodle was done perfectly. Not too long so it's not soggy. Vietnamese ice coffee - despite it's premade, flavor is good. Not too sweet which was perfect for me.
Great sandwich!! I got the grilled pork! Good size for the price. I prefer the hot sandwich over the cold cuts though. I recommend. I'm looking forward to taking my kids here. I had Banh Mi from a street vendor while visiting Vietnam. I like these better!! For real!

Really good pho...not the best I've ever had but still really good. Generous portions, good meat, piping hot and flavorful broth and generous amounts of your protein of choice in the pho. Staff is excellent, helpful and kind and it's very clean. Decent pricing on food and $5 draft beers! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the metal spoons are too shallow so it's tough to drink the delicious broth, there are a few too many TVs and I've had slightly better broth.

The parking lot is at the rear of Planet Fitness. Then you walk toward Rosecran Blvd. it’s next door to the book store (looks like an old theater). They have outdoor seating so we brought our dog. However it’s like a wind tunnel cave! The sun doesn’t hit this area and it was chilly. They have two heaters that don’t work. Said they’re out of propane. A bit irritated when we spent over $50 during lunch to support a small Asian business and the atmosphere was not relaxing. We ended up chowing down the soup (I don’t recommend because it was hot in temperature), took a bite of the others then packed it home to eat at the comfort of our warm home. Food: -Chicken wings (6) $10.95 - We got the house sauce but you could choose between tamarind glaze, garlic butter or salt and pepper. The secret ingredient in the house sauce was fish sauce and really buttery. The skin was crispy and the sauce was evenly coated. -Hoa An Special Banh mi ($6.95) - pork loaf, pork belly, jambon, braised pork and pate. This is your typical cold cut. -Vietnamese meatball Banh mi ($6.95) - pork meatball in tomato sauce. It was the perfect ratio of bread to meat and veggies. -Raised pork belly ($11.95) comes with rice - braised pork belly with boiled egg. This had the perfect mix of fat and non fat pieces but it was lacking some spices and wasn’t caramelized. -Bun Bo hue ($12.95) - beef and pork hock in lemongrass and herb broth. I thought this was decent and liked it. I could taste the lemon grass in the broth. Got tons of meat but the noodles were all broken and I had to use a spoon vice chop sticks. Overall, I would order the chicken wings again but had better Banh Mi. Their French bread is really good and came out fluffy and crispy and didn’t get hard but it was lacking the Mayo white creamy sauce. The taro chips reminded me of the ones you get at Costco. I would pass on the thit kho and order the soup again. Based on location, they do well for the area and it’s one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in Point Loma. But if you want authentic, you’ll need to travel to City Heights, Convoy, or Mira Mesa to the heavily influenced Asian area.
We came to this place off of a recommendation from a friend who loves banh mi sandwiches, gotta say i was not super impressed compared to our normal go to banh mi places. We ordered 3 different kinds, the meatball, the beef an the special. I personally loved the meatball out of all three, an the beef came to a close second. The special wasn’t that special, not much flavor or taste to it in general, which was disappointing since there was so many different meats on it. Another thing i wasn’t super happy about was the bread, it was basically a torta bread, it wasn’t the classic baguette you get anywhere else and it was almost stale.. not sure if this is normal or just an off day cause of how crazy the world is, either way we were kinda super disappointed by the actual banh mi sandwiches themselves. We also got the special of the day which i can’t remember the name, it had rice, a paté, an the sausage with chicken and peppers around it, it was ok, again not too much flavor but still good. My favorite out of everything was the dirty fries, idk what they put in this but it was sooooo good, the fried egg an meat were so flavorful and just amazing, I’m not sure if there’s a sauce or it was just the meat juices that was poured into it but the fries soaked it up an made it just over the top great. They had Really good Thai tea & Thai green tea the green one was soooooo flavorful i loved it. We got the summer rolls as well which was delicious and had a great peanut sauce with it.

I never write reviews but the food was so sad I had to. The bun bo hue was incredibly salty and lacked any depth of flavor. The banana flower was not fresh and the noodles were undercooked. If you know what bun bo hue is supposed to taste like, you will be disappointed. There are much more authentic places further down the road.
