I like this place. Nice atmosphere, good service, good food, and the owner adds a nice touch....very pleasant person.
Classic diner vibes with counter service and a lot of booths. Food is consistently good. They offer many gluten free options that are safe for celiac!
Great experience. We were able to sit outside and eat comfortably. We had to wait because were waiting tobhead back to the pet cemetery. 1st time at this diner and I will try and go back. The food was delicious. Took pics.
I had the eggs Florentine, which I would not usually order at a diner because I'm skeptical about hollandaise sauce, but this place had great reviews so I gave it a go. It was really delicious. In my limited exoerience here, I'd say go for it, this place is so far, so good. Wait staff were great!
Great little diner, first experience here beats out the much more popular Mt. Olympus diner down the street. Food was great, clean and well made. Everything was delicious. Looking forward to coming back here.
Food is fresh, great tasting, service is top of the line, and the atmosphere is accommodated according to the season. I highly recommend the Fountain Diner for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Came here 5 years ago the food was great, here we are again and the food is even better! Thank you Our servers name was Jaime he was great. We would visit more often but we live in sunny Florida
We live in the Bronx and the Fountain Diner is a distance away, but worth the travel. Before the Pandemic madness we went more often. Somehow, we didn't get back there for a long time. Glad we finally got an opportunity to make the trip last week. We had a wonderful time, as I treated my husband to a breakfast date...just us two! The fountain Diner makes the best waffles ever! Cooked just right! The chef knows exactly what he is doing in that kitchen! We had our waffles topped generously with fresh strawberries and real whipped cream! They came accompanied with delicious sausage and bacon, coffee and a nice ice-cold glass of milk. You can truly find happiness in their cooking and the menu. The service is friendly, warm and wonderful. We ate outside where they have such lovely flowers and umbrellas over the tables. Highly recommended if you like great food and an easy laid back dining experience.
Awesome Diner with great food and svce. The owner Sal and his staff are always helpful. Very clean and great atmosphere. They serve some of the best homemade pancakes, especially the jumbo Blueberry. I've been frequenting the Diner since the great cruising days of the 1980s. Up and down Central Avenue with freestyle music playing and hanging out in the parking lots until the cops kicked u out . Thank you for still serving great food.
The service is excellent. We were seated right away on a Sunday morning. The food is excellent. The servers are checking on us all the time, (it's a good thing). Will go back again.
We came at a fairly busy time on a Sunday afternoon but were seated quickly. Ordered the same-Patty Melts which were very good but hard to distinquish the taste between the cheese, the carmalized onions and the burger. It was done as asked, medium, and the service was on point. Expensive Menu for other Sandwich types. Memorable Diners are hard to find in our location but this was good.
The food is ALWAYS delicious & fresh. Menu offers some interesting items. Waiters are very nice & competent. Kept extremely clean.
This Diner serves the BEST Cobb Salad l've ever had! Excellent customer service, friendly staff, great variety food choices, short wait time for your meals. Even the owner, Sal, is very service oriented. I recommend this Diner, A+
This place is perfection. The service is exceptional; intuitive and non-invasive. The staff is really familiar with the locals and genuinely kind. The food was absolutely excellent, and the diner was clean. 100% would highly recommend.
Very lovely place . Food was excellent the service was great
This is my favorite diner ever! I have been coming here for years and I always get the Buffalo chicken wrap. It is amazing and I love how friendly the staff is! 10/10 love this place. I came the first day they re opened from closing due to COVID and I was REALLY impressed about the safety measures they are taking for their staff and customers!! Best place I've seen so far that does that much to Entail safety.
I came across this while waiting for my oil change at hyundai dealership down the road. it was quick and i was able to get seating this early afternoon (1:30pmish) and the food came out within a few minutes. the menu has a lot of variety. very cute diner
I've never been to the Fountain. My friends and I were out and said,"let's try a place we haven't been to That was a GREAT idea 💡 I will be back soon. Everything was 5 ⭐
Always fabulous and my granddaughter loves the Gluten Free Pasta and fries. You can be confident eating here if you have celiac. Our whole family loves all of the food no matter what you try.
This is the only diner I've been to in Westchester County that has Gluten Free options--and a fair amount of them. Always friendly, attentive, and clean. Good coffee, also offering espresso and cappuccino. It doesn't get any better than that! Thank you, Fountain owner and staff!
Diner breakfast of challah French toast, eggs and bacon we're done perfectly and super fast. Great, warm and friendly service from the wait staff. Very reasonable prices. I will be back!
Excellent food. They have an extensive gluten free menu which is perfect for my wife and I. So far everything we’ve had has been excellent.
Went to the diner with my 2 year old son and a friend of mine and we had a lovely experience. The staff was welcoming, communicated very well with us and made sure we were doing fine. One waitress even came over and gave my son's paper and crayons which he absolutely loved! I felt like this diner is big on making customers feel like family when they dine at the fountain diner. The food was good too as always! My friend fell in love with the nutella French toast with banana inside. And I was very happy with my short stack of two buttermilk pancakes and a side of ham :) my son lived the kids ravioli! Ate almost all 4!!!!! All in all I will be going back :)
Best diner around! Great food and service. I wish Westchester County could have more diners like the Fountain. All of the food is amazing from Eggs to Tacos. I love the Fountain Diner and suggest it for all people looking to get a good meal. Always hits the spot. True five star!
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Top class diner that makes you feel like family.
It's a very good diner with a menu that's got plenty of variety, including all day breakfast, but doesn't go crazy like some places that have 12 pages. It's amazing for celiacs and others eating gluten-free. Fries are safe, and the majority of the menu can be ordered gluten free. They are careful about cross contamination. Great service too - the waiters were very accommodating and attentive.
Ordered a 12 ounce charbroiled burger with disco fries and the burger was amazing! My daughter ordered a cheesecake and it was absolutely delicious! My sister ordered breakfast food and she was happy with her order. The atmosphere was family oriented and nice. Service was great. Definitely worth the visit!
Our favorite diner. Food is always delicious and served hot. Salads are very large with all kinds of veggies. Omelets are perfect and very tasty. And the diner is spotless - always clean - they pay attention to details. A pleasure to dine here.
Really solid, fast, friendly diner with food that’s a cut above. For example - when you ask for potato chips you get homemade, fresh fried, paper thin, hand cut crisps that are to die for. If Michelin ever decides to do diners, this little detail would get them their star.
Have eaten there many times always very good. Had a little party for my daughter and ordered meals for 25 people to go. Not only was the food fantastic, but I had everything we needed napkins, utensils, pickles, and coleslaw. Very accommodating and super friendly.
I took my mom here recently. She’s elderly and normally doesn’t like to eat out, but she loved it here. Gladys, our server, made her feel comfortable and at home, and afterwards, Mom said that’s why she liked it so much there. When they brought out the food, Mom was surprised at how much there was. Gladys noticed that Mom seemed overwhelmed, and she told her just to eat what she could and she could bring the rest home. Then she went and brought us takeout containers. The food ended up being delicious (Mom had the Chicken Francaise and I had another chicken dish with lemon), and mom ended up eating a lot more than she thought. Plus, their matzo ball soup was wonderful. (I make a point of trying it at every diner I go to, and this was among the best I've had.) We plan to go back again soon. It’s not often you find good old fashioned cooking and service.
It had been a difficult day and my friend and I realized we should eat something before heading back to NYC. Thanks to a Google search, we found the diner, and we couldn't have stopped at a better place. Seated at a booth in the back, we needed comfort food and shared potato skins, chicken wings, and chili nachos. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. The waiter explained that the kitchen made boneless wings instead of the ones we'd ordered and offered to make it right...the dish was very quickly replaced. When he saw us running low on condiments for the nachos, he brought more salsa and guacamole. It was the bright spot of a dark day and we appreciated the comfort of our stop at the diner!
I traveled to Hartsdale from Florida for a short getaway. My bestie and I happened upon this restaurant and the food and atmosphere was utterly fantastic. So much so we ate there almost every day or had it delivered. The staff were fantastic and amazingly friendly. Highly highly recommend this local establishment.
We stopped here after a bit of a crazy day for breakfast and it was well worth it. First off, the service was bar none one of the best. Our waitress accommodated five of us - 3 adults with 1 infant and 1 toddler - without a hitch and even did their best to entertain our kids. The food was moderately priced and the portions were large. I ordered corned beef hash with two eggs and it was a full plate with toast. I even ordered a side of sausage and I was asked if I wanted them split to make it easier to share with the kids. Outstanding food, outstanding service, fair prices were just what we needed for this morning.
Every time we go they treat us like family. I love this place. Love love love. It’s my go to diner. Thank you guys. Not only is your service fast, but the food is delicious and the hospitality is incredible.
I randomly picked this place for the family. We were just up the road and checked and saw some reviews. Upon entering, there was no real wait time. The food was delicious. Full of flavor. The coffee hit the spot. The music was in the right vibe, the 80s. I was jamming food in my mouth and jamming to the tunes. Needless to say. They have gained faithful customers
This place is incredibly clean and the food is excellent. I had Eggs Benedict which were amazingly good, and my spouse had banana/strawberry pancakes which were some of the best pancakes she had ever had. They were light and fluffy. The waitstaff there was friendly, and we had a great meal. I would go back any time I am in the area.
The food here is delicious. I had the Florentine omelette and asked for the home fries well done. They cooked them perfectly as requested. Their breakfast sausage was amazing. My husband also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and onion and it was so good. The service was very quick even on a busy Saturday morning. Our waitress was lovely and she did not miss a thing even though we made a few very specific requests. A truly great diner.
Such a great place. The servers were so kind and they actually got along well with each other. The food was amazing!! I got the chocolate chip pancakes and by far they were the best pancakes I've ever had. My boyfriend had gotten the buffalo chicken sandwich and he was beyond happy with it! Definitely will be going back and bringing all my friends back!
This diner is an extraordinary gem.. the menu has a great selection.. their extensive gluten free choices are exceptional. The owners are always there and know their customers, the wait staff are always friendly, and the food is consistently terrific!
I've only eaten there once on valentines day breakfast. There is ample parking and quick service. The bacon, eggs, saugage and ham were really good. The pancakes were ok. We also had calamari and it was very good. Overall, it better than other dinners we've tried. Highly recommend.
Excellent gluten free selection of food that’s prepared in a separate kitchen for celiacs! Pretty much everything can be gluten free, I loved the fries and got a sandwich. Gluten free pizza is a great option too!
Or go to spot when in Scarsdale. Food is always delicious. Staff always friendly. Had there black bean burger in a wrap and wifey had a veggie burger on a wrap. OMG. So good. Their breakfast is delicious too. They don't disappoint
The male waiters are always professional and attentive. They are very helpful, to the Senior Citizens whoneed assistance too. The cashier is nice and pleasant.. However, she gets confused easily. She can't handle her job, when the diner is extremely busy. So the waitress, then has to jump in and manage accordingly. That's good teamwork. But again the owner should address the matter. Another waitress talks a bit too much, but very professional. Overall a great family oriented diner. Bathrooms are always clean and plenty of parking. .
Fountain Diner is a cozy unassuming restaurant that excels with excellent food and service. While I only visited for breakfast, I highly recommend the Florentine omelette which was one of the best I ever had. Most importantly, anyone wanting to enjoy a gluten free meal without fear of cross contamination or sacrificing taste and quality should have a great experience.
I have been eating here for years and aside from the many wonderful things that I could say I just picked up my food today on Saturday and have not for as long as I can remember been in a Family owned and operatedestablishment that was bustling With customers while still being Warm, inviting, organized, and every other good adjective you can think of. Everyone looked happy There were people at the counter, drinking coffee, and smiling. The people at the counter had comfort on their faces like they were on their living room couchThe workers looked happy And comfortable in their environment. There were people waiting for tables with their families spanning three generations with smiles on their faces. everyone was engaged. I didn’t wanna leave. For a while I was fearing that this atmosphere might’ve been the thing of the past but today was amazing and this place is amazing and that’s just that. You have to tip your cap to the family that runs this place. They have stayed the course through the years and put in the work and in my opinion this place is an institution.
I had lunch with my husband. The food was excellent. If I am io in Hartsdale NY, I would go there to eat. Also a very extensive menu.
Last night I ordered a turkey dinner . It was the best turkey dinner I had in years. The meat was moist cranberry sauce was delicious. The sides were very good. I was surprised to be honest with you. It was top-of-the-line.
Went here recently with a group. Carlos and his team were amazing, attentive, and friendly. Food came out quickly and was cooked very well.
It is a classic diner with a typical classic diner menu. NY diners do it best. I have not been here in two years but I used to come here a lot. I had the spinach pie, phyllo crust, dill, feta which was so good I ordered a second one to take home; $14.95 without the salad. I also took home one of their evening specials, Brook Trout Almondine, full cooked fish with tail, moist, crispy, nibbled and will eat another time. For $20 it came with soup or salad (I got matzo soup with chicken and noodles) baked potato, side vegetable and bread. I pay $35 at a regular place around here, no soup/salad or vegetable. Great deal. I used to get their waffles sometimes with ice cream. So happy I went. The staff if GREAT. Not too crowded fortunately but loads of regulars eating in and carrying out
Local gem with fast, friendly service with all the diner classics. Amazing home fries and omelettes served still steaming, a place you want to become a regular! Lots of parking, and we got a table of 2 right away on a Saturday morning. They have counter seating as well. I will be back for the Nutella pancakes that looked incredible!
This is what I expect from a diner. The menu is diverse, and the food is decent. The prices are typical for a diner in the area. The service is very good and the place, including the bathrooms, is clean.
The service was great our waitress was very friendly and attentive. It's a bit overpriced but that could be because we're from upstate. The food was pretty good but the selection was slim compared to other diners. Maybe because it's small.
We've only been here for Sunday breakfast a few times, and have found the food good and the service friendly. We're in and out in no time with a very reasonable bill. Pancakes are definitely better at the Pancake House in White Plains, but we've had horrible service there twice. I'm dumbfounded there's a line in front of iHOP when this place is just across the street.
Great place to bring the family or just sit alone and enjoy a meal.
Decent food and homey vibes. Food portions aren't great but are passable. All things considered, surrounding diners offer a better value for breakfast, namely City Diner.
Diner food with good service. I liked the gardening outside too.
This place is fantastic !! Now if you don't know about this place !! You won't know it was a secret untill now
Typical old-school diner. The service and the food are good, many items are a la carte, not a lot of inclusions (have to order some sides separate) The pancakes are yummy and huge! (plate-sized) Overall, the place is good for a quick bite. Also, there is ample parking. I've only come here for breakfast so I can't comment on other items, but I'm sure they are also satisfactory. They are always busy.
Very good diner. Food was very good for the price. We went at an off hour on a Sunday so getting a servers attention for more drinks and extra napkins took a little longer than usual but it would not dissuade me from going back.
On the northern part of Central Avenue, still lies an old school diner that has been here for many years. The food is pretty good. It is owned by two Italian brothers and they have done a great job to keep the standard of food very high. The service is always adequate. It gets real busy. There is good parking. I visit here often. My mother and aunt love it. It is not cheap either. You can enjoy a good meal. Great burgers. Quality size portions with everything. Good soups and love the deserts. Try it!!
We've been coming here since 2018. The staff are friendly and familiar. It's a typical diner, so don't expect a fine dining experience. I have been disappointed a few times. My husband has gotten bad fish which was overcooked and probably a day past its prime. I've had bad smoked salmon which made me sick. We usually limit our visits to breakfasts but recently we found a piece of scrub wire jn the cornhash which is most disconcerting. I have become increasingly disappointed in the quality but we will continue to support them as they are convenient. My advice is to inspect the food before consuming.
They are the friendlest people in service that I have ever met.
First time visiting here. And, I'm from city so first Diner since moving to Westchester. Average diner. All I can say is it wasn't the best experience. lol I surely didn't feel welcomed. Food is ok. Nothing special, not bad. However, Staffs are not that friendly. This also can be jist my experience. I see they were friendly with some other folks. So.... Ordered French Toast & Home fries. I saw something looking like Syrup (but disposable container ones) but wasn't sure what it was. I was too busy to check what they were. Asked server if I can have Maple Syrup. Without saying anything he just snatched the disposal things and brought me the maple syrup (not even bottle, just as small sauce dish). He never mentioned it's extra or it is REAL EXPENSOVE MAPLE SYRUP (that's what they told me later. Im not gonna lie. It was thick and good!) Later when I got the bill, charged Extra $3.79+ tax for Maple Syrup. I told them I didn't know it was extra, they were quite mean and fighting.... it's on the menu. I was honestly shocked. Not for extra charge but by their attitude. Maybe I'm the idiot here but I never went to diner that charges Mayple Syrup at extra cost. Nor put it on menu... unless it is specialty item. They told me all diners do this. (Again, I'm from City... there were many dinners I went to and they served maple syrup as norm.. my bad.) They showed me the menu and it was there! lol Who thought mayple syrup as extra menu? Again! maybe I'm the idiot here. (He himself try to find it on menu to prove he is right but took him a very long time to find it. lol So that explains.) At the end, manager took off the cost of Ice Coffee pretty reluctantly. She SAID "I wants you to feel good" but her face said it all. Leaving Not that happy customer. BUT hey, it is what it is. I probably gonna come back since this is the Only diner that's walking distance from my place. Hopefully, I will have better experience. 😆
The diner serves a wide variety of food, enough to satisfy all palates. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable, and the service is good. The interior is somewhat dated, but who goes to the diner for ambiance? There is plenty of free parking, and the location is easy to find and get to.
Where’s the fountain? They didn’t mess the bacon up. However they did forget my sausage. Be careful the menu says two eggs with bacon, ham “ or” sausage… Warning the hash browns could raise your A1C.
Haven't been here probably since high school but decided to give it another shot due to lack of local diner options (on a Sunday AM when the best options are full up). The restaurant itself has been well kept and has a nice atmosphere. It's warm, inviting and attractive. The food was alright, my omlellete was woefully dry, my partners dish greasy as possible. But it was acceptable and appropriate for the setting. Service was alright at best - I'm not sure what it is with resterants making it difficult to get the check and leave recently but it's not the first time I've found myself sitting and waiting to pay for 10-15mins after finishing my meal. wonderful at a nice dinner but very annoying at a diner. I'll probably not be going back for another decade and a half.
As diners go, the Fountain is a solid contender, and has been for many years. Always busy, the service is efficient, if not exactly warm and cozy. The food is pretty much what you'd expect, except fresher and less greasy than many others. The menu is kind of ridiculous. Who would order Mexican-style dishes in a Greek diner? But if you stick with the basics, you won't go wrong.
OK, but sort of blah. Food was not great, and the server seemed a bit put out to have to be bothered with waiting on us.
You get what you pay for..... Costs less than some other diners, but the service and the food were just so-so.
We would go to the diner every Saturday and Sunday for lunch. The food & service are very good. The staff is very friendly. My husband has never made any complaints about the food there until yesterday. To the waitress who said to stop ordering the burgers, which is the only reason he likes to go there, we will no longer be eating at the Fountain Diner
JUNE 25TH. Went back today. The food was good. Service was fast. Coffee was awful. It was like drinking warm brown water 🤮 It was quiet. I wanted my burger medium rare and it was well done. Dessert, we asked for 2 slices of what we thought was coconut lemon. It was actually coconut pineapple...the waiter never said anything. Not bad, we'll try it again.
Went in for a late morning breakfast, I was seated right away. I waited about seven minutes for somebody to come over and take my order. My waiter checked on me once that was it. I was finished eating and I'm sitting there again for a long period of time waiting for my check. I probably could've gotten up and walked out without paying. Finally one of the weight staff came over and asked if I wanted anything else mind you he was not my waiter. I said no just sitting here waiting for my check and he's the one who brought me my check. I saw my waiter standing behind the counter doing nothing. I will not be going back to service sucked.
This diner experience was horrific. First, when we entered we were seated. I ordered coke and brought to me was Pepsi, Pepsi is not the same of coke at all. Then, I ordered an egg omelette and there was a big piece of plastic, aproximately 3 inches by 1 inch. It was hard plastic. It was in the middle of my egg. This plastic I believe melted a bit and I ate the plastic. This can explain my stomach being messed up. When we called over the busboy, he felt very sorry, he brought the waitress. She told us that it didn’t matter and that it was just part of the butter wrapper. She picked it up and threw it in the garbage. How in the world was a hard piece of clear plastic that was cooked in the MIDDLE of my egg part of the wrapper. I simply don’t understand. The waitress didn’t even apologize. I am very disappointed in this diner as I had a few good recommendations and was extremely disappointed. I will never go to this restaurant again.
Absolutely horrible! I found a hair in my salad and quietly told one of the owners. He grabbed the dish off the table and threw it into the busbox. I thought when he came back to the table - he was going to apologize but ...NO... All he said was that he has an impeccable record with the health department and that all his guys wear hair nets. Will NEVER go again and I will tell my friends to not patronize this diner ever!!!!
I driven by these place hundreds of times. I finally decided to stop by and try them out for breakfast. I order old fashioned French toast and bacon on the side. Least to say it was soggy. Bacon was half cooked I didn't even feel like complaining I just left the most messiest chopped up disaster on my plate. When the waiter came to get the plate she looked at me like I was crazy I just shrug my shoulders and said ready for the bill lol. No plans on going back if you have a hard time making french toast can only imagine what the other food is like.
Really sad , went there last night reguardless of her being slow I left my waitress a generous tip , when going up to the counter to pay they asked me if I wanted to tip on my car , I declined because I had already left cash out for her. My bill was 62.09 , when I went and looked at my bank account this morning they had taken out 70.00. It isn't a big difference but that isn't the point , the point is I told them I had already tipped and they went ahead and put a tip on my card when I said not to. That is called stealing from your customers. I advise everyone who goes here to carefully look at your bank account and receipt after paying with a card. Never coming back there
Around 1pm today, I came in and asked for a table for two, the hostess said wait five minutes and then 2 minutes later an elderly couple came in and she gave them my table. I felt like this was discrimination against younger patrons. The hostess was rude and arrogant.
Horrible customer service, we waited for 30 minutes and no one came to take our order, two tables got seated after us and got their order taken, when I ask the sever about it he gave us attitude and told us they were busy but yet you took other people who came after us? I understand being busy but to take the order of two tables that came after us? Maybe it was because the other table were white peoples and while we were minorities, I guess management teach their staff to have their priorities straight.
Loved and adored the diner and usually a 5 star but last night was a totally disastrous experience. Arrived at 9pm, took our order and 35 minutes later the not well prepared food came out with apologies of having only 1 cook. We were never given the choice to wait patiently or to look at other options. There was no attempt of courtesy to keep us informed We were ignored while the staff were chatting happily and playing with their phones. The manager didn't have the common sense to perform a standard customer service tactic: such as "approach and diffuse(pacify)". Instead she retorted that she wouldn't "advertise" there was only one cook. Would you rather tell us and give us the choice or have a definite fiasco? A server tried to take a plate away from one diner while she was still eating the bacon. One diner refused to eat in a rush (they close at 10), another diner couldn't eat the dried up omelette fast and actually got sick in the car, and the third unhappily ate the burger driven by hunger. Even if the food was mostly uneaten; even untouched,, we still paid the check in full. Upper management really needs to reassess the competence of the evening staff primarily the manager. Employees take their cue form their supervisor. It will take some time for us to get over this and return.
Worst meal ive ever had. I had to pull up a chair and a table to eat with my family. Had to construct my chicken “sandwich” with my bare hands. Only good thing about this place was the Salt put out on the table that I manually put on my own French fries, which were a side to my $17 handmade sandwich concoction. Mac and cheese was mids. Wraps were oily as hell. Would’ve been better off skipping lunch and fasting.
So disappointed with this staple that I have frequented for 3 decades. They have great gluten free options and my boyfriend has Celiac, however, we won't be returning. We had lunch there yesterday asked asked our waiter if we could substitute items on our turkey wraps, He said sure and I added avocado and bacon and my boyfriend added cheese bacon and avocado to his and asked for a gluten free wrap. We had two coffees and two wraps and received a bill for over $70. Every single item added was up-charged and we were not told about this in advance. The diner right down central in Scarsdale The Eldorado Diner has the same wrap that I have ordered with avocado and bacon called the turkey spring wrap for $16.25 and it is a far superior wrap. I decided to call the Fountain Diner today and speak to the owner thinking for some reason he would like to retain the patronage of someone who had been frequenting his establishment for so long. He was unapologetic and reported that i can't expect the cost for cranberry sauce to be the same as avocado and bacon. I then said to him, so they additional items added $15 to my cost? I even told him that I get the same wrap at the Eldorado in Scarsdale for $16.25. He became very angry that i compared his diner to another. Maybe he felt ashamed about ripping off his customers when he was confronted with the scam going on at his Diner. He added that i should have asked the waiter, if adding item would increase the cost however we did ask if we could change items, and the waiter said yes and did not educate us about the increase in cost. So he expects the customers to pick up the slack for his poorly trained staff. I called the Eldorado diner in scarsdale and asked if they have gluten free wraps. They do, so we will not return to a place where the owner does not respect their their long standing customers.
The service is great I’ve been going there for a long time but one day I went there and I was on the phone when the owner who is the older man came up to me and says you are speaking on the phone too loud you can’t be speaking on the phone here and he was being racist. That was my last time there I will never recommend anyone to go there ,stay away from this place or I’m sure you will be next .
I’ve been a regular customer at Fountain Diner and always order the same thing — the California Panini. But this last visit was terrible. The bread and chicken were so hard they were nearly inedible. It was clear the food wasn’t fresh and nowhere near the usual quality. I called right away and was told I’d be credited on my credit card, but the refund never came. I followed up twice the next day. When I finally spoke to the owner, Philip, instead of apologizing, he raised his voice at me and was extremely unprofessional. He said he would “take care of it,” but still nothing has been done. After how I was treated, I won’t be returning — and I wouldn’t recommend Fountain Diner to anyone. Bad food and even worse customer service.
We were excited to try this place, as people were sharing it has a lot of Gluten-Free options and they certianly do! It was refreshing to see that on the menu, you can have pancakes, french toast, wraps, sandwiches, etc! But unfortunately, I feel like I needed to come and leave a review here, something I wish I had read about ahead of time. My husband and I each had a sausage and cheese omlette with potatoes and GF toast. We also shared a stack of the GF pancakes. Our total was over $70!!!! I was actually shocked when I saw that, as the menu prices lead you to think your total would be more normal, maybe $45-$50, taking into consideration GF items (which is still high for breakfast!) The food was mediocre at best, nothing special as far as taste/quality or portions. We can go to spots in the same area, with way better service, bigger portions, more courses, less patronage AND be accommodated with good quality GF items (some made in house with thoughtful ingredients!) for the same or less in total!! We were a group of 5. I asked the waiter if my husband and I could be on a separate check (so as not to burden my friends with our GF item subs) and he said they do that all at the front desk at the end when you go up to pay...THE ATTITUDE of the lady who was at the desk later on was actually crazy, I laughed afterward thinking about her in the service industry. She def has boss lady energy, but you cannot make kind, mild, smily, easygoing people feel SO UNCOMFORTABLE when they are paying over $70 for a lame breakfast. AND she was very animated about adding the 18% tip to each of our checks since we were splitting from the group of 5. We work so hard for our money, and do not eat out often, to think were forced to pay an 18% tip (which normally we have no problem with!) when someone is being nasty, rolling her eyes, shaking her head, refusing to make eye contact, to us AS she's adding it to the checks is so sad. There is NO WAY that is the first time she has to split a check like that. I left so disappointed and felt robbed. Never going back and gladly sharing my experience when people talk about it.
