If you are looking for exceptional food and service then you have arrived. I was actually surprised to see some of the negative reviews. Our experience was excellent. Tomahawk steak and filet was ordered with several sides and appetizers. Cocktails were strong but good tasting. Dessert was satisfying and no complaints about the coffee latte after dinner either. Our server was exceptional and attentive. The manager passed by to check on us, as he did for all the surrounding tables as well throughout the night. The portion sizes and the cost of food/drink were as expected for the quality and our experience. Would definitely return if ever in the Hilton Head area again.

We tried Bowdie for Restaurant week. My husband and I did the share menu. We got to sit in the secluded area. Will was our server. He was very good and attentive. We got the ribeye carved table side. Our company got the filet and salmon. The steaks were good. Our friend said the salmon was delicious. We enjoyed the grilled ceaser and wedge salad. Our sides were brussel sprouts and potatoes Augratin. We enjoyed the brussel sprouts more. We had carrot cake for dessert. It wasn't overly sweet which was good.

We were able to get a last-minute reservation, which was a nice surprise. Service was excellent from start to finish. The only minor downside is that you can smell nail polish in the lobby from the nail salon next door—thankfully, the scent doesn’t carry into the dining area. My favorite bite of the night was the lardons on the wedge salad, which was unexpected since I’d never had them before. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The steak was a little over salted but still had good flavor. The layered potatoes were an interesting take on scalloped potatoes but definitely delicious. Not pictured but also tasty was the carrot cake. Overall, a great experience.

We made reservations here during Restaurant Week, was in the last week of January 2025, on Hilton Head Island. Bowdie's had been on our list to try, and this was great timing with their Fixed menu, they had a nice variety of choices for the Restaurant Week Menu. Started with a bottle of wine and my wife got the House Wedge and I had the Shrimp Bisque. The Soup was very good, definitely would get that again. With the House Wedge, it came with Lardons... we had to ask what that was, and it was basically pork belly, I forget the process they did with them, but they were outstanding, you can see them in the photo of the Wedge salad (which was a half order by the way for Rest. Week). For the main course, we both got the Filets and Au Gratin Potatoes. Outstanding all around. Bowdie'd does steak right. It felt like we were at a quaint Ruths Chris. That good, if not better. The Au Gratin Potatoes were unique in how they were layered. We finished with both desserts offered for that course. Chocolate Brownie and Carrot Cake. I am typically not a Carrot Cake person, but damn, their's is very very good. I liked it better than the Brownie. Not sure I would get the Carrot Cake over a Creme Brûlée, it would be close. Definitely going back, but it is pricey, so will be for special occasions.

Wanted a nice steak dinner and I got it here. Perfectly cooked and enjoyed the seasoning as well. Appetizer was bone marrow. First time trying that but really enjoyed it! Had the carrot 🥕 cake 🎂 for dessert, even though I was full and it was delicious. Server was friendly and helpful with meal and dessert 🍨 selection. Great selection of wines from all over the world 🌎 if that's your bag 🎒. Definitely will be coming back here!

Bowdie's Chophouse was an excellent experience. There is a bar side and then a quiet dining room, with beautiful dark paneling. We had the shrimp cocktail, a filet, Caesar salad, and the deconstructed crab cake. The shrimp were large and the cocktail sauce had a nice kick to it. The steak was perfectly cooked. The sides are designed to share. They divided the salad for us.

This place was Amazing first off this was the best Filet I have ever had same for my wife. The Au Gratin potatoes and mushrooms were amazing. Deserts were solid and crab-cake was very good. Eric our server was awesome and can wait to go back! We are already planning a trip to Michigan since we’re on Lake Erie in Ohio to visit friends who live by another Bowdie’s. Great options from Gin and Bourbon too.

We love each of the Bowdie’s in Michigan, and I’m happy to report the Hilton Head location did not disappoint. Same great quality, attentive service, nice atmosphere. Shrimp cocktail is so good, and the Mac n Cheese is a must.

We came here as a recommendation from our boat captain from Hilton Head Boat Charters to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. The service was amazing!! Kendall, Kacie and Wanda went out if their way to make sure this was a special and elegant experience. This was the best steak, wine and salad in all of Hilton and better than a top scoring restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you for adding a special dessert to celebrate our day. You helped to make this a an amazing evening.

Came this evening to celebrate our engagement and we had the best experience! Everyone was so sweet, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great for this special occasion. Thank you!

Really wonderful fine dining experience. Brand new restaurant to the low country. Offers amazing food options from escargot or bone marrow to the most amazing steak selection you could ask for. Given being new and new staff, serve is a little slower as everyone is still learning. The environment is very romantic and warm. I highly recommend, however, please know your check will be in the 3 digit range almost immediately.

We were visiting and made dinner reservations and so glad we did. The shrimp bisque was oh so delish, the best bisque I’ve EVER eaten, velvety smooth and filled with flavor

This place is somewhere between 4.7 and 4.9! It’s an excellent steak house that strives to be high end, but it’s not quite there. Everything from food, drinks, and service was excellent. The only thing lacking was the presentation of the steak, that high end places usually have. The selection of cuts of meat is also relatively small. Those things, however, are not pre-requisite for an excellent meal we had there. Would definitely return.

First time at Bowdie's and it was great. The atmosphere is warm and "club like" and our waiter, Nicole was terrific. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere delightful. For appetizers, we had the seared scallops and the escargot, both of which were delicious and tender. The Tomahawk Rib Eye was nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked to medium rare. It was the best steak we have enjoyed on HHI. The au gratin potatoes had a great flavor and complimented the steak. It was my wife's birthday and they did a very nice job on the dessert too! Their wine selections are well selected and reasonably priced. We can't wait to go back.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here. The ambiance was spectacular, the service, the waiter, food, and the drinks was top tier. I enjoyed this dining experience.

Stopped in just for cocktails and stayed for dinner. Eric at the bar was amazing- super welcoming, down to earth and makes incredible cocktails! He recommended the crab cake- we try a Crab cake every where we go that has them. Out of all the states and restaurants we've been to, this one by far was the best. It was a wonderful experience and will definitely go back

We eat at the nicest restaurants on the island and this one just got added to the list! Top quality food and service. Nicole was our waitress and she did an awesome job.

The best craft cocktails on Hilton Head! Erik and Tom are super fun bartenders. The wedge with pork belly was amazing! The shrimp bisque was beautiful and delicious! The potatoes au gratin was a very generous portion as well as the filet. This is a must try and exactly what Hilton Head needed.

Had an absolutely delicious tomahawk steak tonight, the bone marrow app and tartare are fantastic as well. Jordan was a really nice server, great to have him take care of us.

This is the best restaurant on Hilton Head Island. Every time the found is excellent, service outstanding, and they really want to make every guest feel special.

Incredible dining experience! We were just out for a date night. My wife had the filet and it was delicious and prepared excellent. I had the tomahawk and it was prepared exactly how I wanted it. The lobster Mac was delicious. Casey was our server and did a nice job keeping the bar customers happy and the high top customers well watered. I’d come back, and there are places we wouldn’t. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed

K

Wow! One of the best dining experiences we've had in the area. With Jordan slicing and presenting a delicious Cowboy ribeye at our table, great steakhouse mushrooms, wonderful Manhattan cocktails, and extra attention from Eric, Melanie and GM Kendal, it was an Anniversary that was very special!

That Tomahawk steak is the best steak I have ever had. So juicy and flavor was on a different level can’t escape the price though but if you have the bread like that definitely go spend it on that steak. You wont be disappointed.

The best steaks on the island. A beautiful dining experience. The allowed my wines with a basic $25.00 corkage fee. Steak Tartar, Escargot, perfect side items, and top notch service.

I ate at Bowdie’s while in HHI while on vacation and it was superb! We started out with the Brussels sprouts and mushrooms. YUM! I split the tomahawk steak with my wife and it was more than enough food for the two of us but I just couldn’t stop eating it. SO GOOD! The drinks were also awesome. I highly recommend going if you’re on the island.

Bowdie’s has become our go-to spot for anniversaries, and Jordan always makes the experience unforgettable. He remembers our favorite wine and meals, which makes us feel truly cared for as guests. Most recently, when we celebrated two birthdays, he went out of his way to bring us a selection of desserts to share. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made the night incredibly special. Jordan’s hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care set him apart—he is truly an asset to the Bowdie’s team. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Bowdies' is the superior steakhouse on the island. They cook the steaks perfectly, the side options are impeccable. I dream of the Augratin potatoes and the lobster Mac and Cheese. In addition, the service is absolutely perfect.

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever had the privilege to dine at. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is extremely nice and Brandon, our server was top tier. He went above and beyond to make sure that my wife and I had a special time celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Tonight was our first time going to Bowdie's. My husband took me out for my 45th Birthday. Excellent service, amazing food, and so much more. Thank you for an amazing kick off to my 45th year!

Great place in a super unique setting for Zionsville / Carmel. Service was amazing. Abby was our server for New Year’s Eve and she killed it.

Our server, Eric, was exceptional. His recommendations were perfect. We shared a bowl of the French onion soup, and I can tell you, it was the best I’ve ever had. I’d go back just for that!! We also shared a large steak and the stacked scallop potatoes. Even sharing, we had more than enough food. The drinks were delicious and I topped it off with a crème brûlée. So happy we chose this restaurant and will be returning.

Stopped by Bowdie’s on our way out of HH to grab a bite. We did not have a reservation but the bar had plenty of seating so my husband and I were able to sit with no wait. Eric and Nick took great care of us at the bar. Even introduced to me to a new cocktail. Food was fantastic. The shrimp bisque was phenomenal! I suggest having a reservation if you have more than two people and can’t sit at the bar. Definitely worth a visit while in HH!

You cannot go wrong at this restaurant. It was fantastic! I will say the steaks were top-notch. The appetizers we had were phenomenal, which included the shrimp cocktail, and the crab cream soup. Large, delicious chunks of fresh crab. Our sides to the tomahawk steak, which was perfectly cooked, we're the au gratin potatoes and those were amazing. As well as the brussel sprouts and truffle fries. Finally, our server was lovely. She was fun, helpful, and attentive. I look forward to coming back!

We absolutely love Bowdie’s Hilton Head Island. It reminds us of a classic Chicago-style steakhouse — intimate, elevated, and consistently exceptional. It’s become our go-to spot for date nights. The steaks are always cooked to perfection, the cocktails are top-notch, and the service is outstanding. Can’t recommend it enough!

This place is amazing! We sat at the bar and we were entertained by two of the best bartenders ever, Eric and Nick, they were tentative and they were full of personality and great suggestions! We will definitely be back soon and bring friends. Chef Ford came out and we were able to speak to him and bragged on his amazing food. Just as note, he makes the best Shrimp Bisque that we have ever eaten.

e incredible—definitely try the old fashioned! Their impressive wine list was a top priority for us, and it didn’t disappoint. The attentive service made our evening even better. Since it was a quiet night, our server had plenty of time to share the story of how they started in Michigan and are now expanding south—such an inspiring journey. The food was absolutely delicious. We began with the shrimp cocktail, which featured a spicy yet flavorful sauce that left us craving more. The prime tartare disappeared in minutes, and my husband can’t stop raving about the bone marrow. For our main courses, we shared the cowboy Ribeye, cooked perfectly to our requested doneness—neither too medium nor too rare. The lobster tail addition and mushrooms complemented it beautifully. For dessert, we took home some tiramisu, which made a delightful breakfast the next day. We already plan to make Bowdie's one of our regular spots whenever we’re brave enough to cross onto the island. Can’t wait to return!

Bowdies Chophouse Review Bowdies is a fantastic spot! The food was absolutely phenomenal — my filet was so tender I could cut it with a fork! Even my child’s butter noodles were amazing. As a mom, I especially want to highlight Kendall — he was exceptional. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable dining with a toddler and checked in often without being intrusive. His kindness and attentiveness made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Great food, service and atmosphere. Portions are huge. Only down side is it is ridiculously expensive.

First time here and had a wonderful experience. Our waiter was absolutely amazing and very sweet. I was a little sad he brought me a half salad and not the full salad as it was delicious and I would have never ordered half. The bartender was very thoughtful. I ordered a cocktail which ended up being very large and sugary and I didn't like it at all. He came over, asked me what I wanted specifically and made me a fabulous mezcal cocktail minus all the sugar and juice. The manager stopped by the table after dinner to see how everything was which I do appreciate. It looks like a well tuned restaurant and I'm looking forward to popping in again soon!

Bowdie’s has a nice atmosphere and good service! That’s where it ends for me. Food wasn’t great for us second time here! The steak was quite tasteless needs seasoning or something very bland for an expensive steak for two! Sides also just mediocre. Potatoes were also a bit tasteless and cold! Asked for a cava that was listed for $10 dollars and was charged $17 for a glass of Spanish cava! Ordered an Irish coffee got a cup of coffee with a side of whipped cream no whiskey in the coffee! Someone needs to show these bartenders how to make an Irish coffee (Irish whiskey, coffee hot, tsp.of sugar and whipped cream on top, in a glass). I’ve had a better steak at the Bluffton room, in Bluffton and at Ruth Chris in Savannah. Crème Brûlée was only thing that was delicious!

We went to Bowdie's with some friends to celebrate a special occasion, and it was really disappointing. My steak, which I ordered medium, was very well done. Even the waiter commented that it was inedible. They cooked a new one, but I didn't get it until after everyone else at our table was finished with their meal. Since the sides are all shareable, they were delivered with everyone else's meal and they were therefore cold by the time my steak came out. Also, we had brought a very nice bottle of wine, which the waiter uncorked but didn't pour into our glasses, He just plunked it on the table and walked away- and we were charged a $50 uncorking fee. Honestly, just a 3-star experience at a very high price point. This is the fourth time we have eaten there, and the second time we have had an extremely mediocre experience. Last, I emailed the restaurant the next day to discuss our experience, and never heard back.

Unfortunately, I have to really downgrade my review. We've eaten here 5 times, all other visits were good to excellent. Porterhouse was terrible. Salad was terrible. Service bad. Food thrown at us.

J
Jessica Schneider

Great service and atmosphere. However, the food was less than good. While we enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the shrimp cocktail, the entrees were not very good. I have had much better steaks at a Longhorn. Ordered my filet rare and it came out medium well. It was cooked better the second time but to spend $545 for five people at dinner I would have expected much more. We also ordered the cowboy ribeye, au gratin potatoes, carrots and the lobster Mac and cheese. The potatoes were hard and carrots not very flavorful. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable.

Once of the worst restaurants I have ever had the displeasure and misfortune of dining at. Service staff is young, unprofessional and just all around terrible. Food runners will butcher/mar your steak if you split/share with someone. It’s awful! Could use more seasoned waiters/waitresses and not young 20-something-year-olds who know know absolutely nothing about wine. Recent change of management proved to be a terrible change as you can tell no one knows what they are doing or how to properly run a restaurant. They claim to be “fine-dining” but are super casual. Plates have multiple burn marks/scorches from the broiler they use to keep plates hot…scorch marks on entree plates at a so-called-fine-dining-restaurant I think not. It’s a joke. Soup is lukewarm so don’t even bother ordering. No decaf coffee either. What limited options for a restaurant who claims to be fine dining, I call false advertising. I have been in the restaurant industry for years and am truly disappointed. When I initially set my reservation, I was excited to see what Bowdie’s was all about. However, upon dining, I have realized how poorly run this establishment is, which was a complete shock. Two thumbs down. Don’t waste your time here. You’re better off making the drive to Savannah for more quality food and service. The new Chophouse 119. Just stay away. A social club if anything, but not a restaurant that warrants the high praise it receives. I dined here for the holidays and once again to give a second chance a couple of weeks ago. Both utter disappointments and will not be back.

Unfortunately I think this was the worst meal / dinner experience I have ever had. Especially for the 400+ dollar bill that followed. The staff was kind, but young and inexperienced for the level of service you should receive with this price tag. We sat at the bar, and the negative conversations happening about “Sunday shit shows” etc were extremely inappropriate and took place throughout our entire dinner. My husband and received each others steaks so our waiter exchanged them by lifting my plate with his kitchen rag, spilling my steak sauce all over the counter, wiping it up with the same rag and leaving a huge smear all over the counter for the rest of my meal. Never asking me if I would like more. My steak was also extremely undercooked but it had already taken 2 hours for our meal to come and saying anything at this point seemed pointless. The carrots were incredibly overcooked. And not to mention there was a massive cockroach in the bathroom between the woman’s stalls. Sadly, it just felt like the entire restaurant was getting run by inexperienced young individuals with no real management. It was a complete disappointment for our last meal of vacation.

L
Linda P

By far one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. I ordered the salmon, and it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever — completely bland and disappointing. The wedge salad was another letdown. Instead of the traditional crispy bacon, they topped it with pulled pork… why? It made no sense and totally threw off the dish. A complete waste of money. As for the service, it was just okay — definitely not up to the standards I expected from a place with this reputation and price point. Overall, a major disappointment. I won’t be returning.

Y
Yahweh is all Eil

When I got there there were maybe five people there. It was a nice place, however when asked if I had a reservation I said no. I was told I would have to wait for at least an hour before being seated. No reason fir the wait. I felt unwelcome so I when next door to a Thai restaurant. When I left I looked in at Bowdies and it seemed like only a few people were there. I felt like I'm not the clientele they carter to, which is ok. This is America and we have choices.
