Nice country pub, very comfitable inside. We attended a Christmas party, the food was mostly good. I thought the main course was a little disappointingly. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. The service was a little slow, but it was a full house.
We had a great experience at Heaven's Kitchen. The food was a little pricey but worth it. It surpassed expectations. The service was friendly and the food came out relatively quickly. The atmosphere was quiet (7pm on a Sunday evening) and pleasant. If I want a dining treat in the future I will certainly be considering a return trip.
Huge kid friendly play area in the garden, I'm amazed we were the only people here! Our 4 and 2 year old were having a great time on their own. I almost don't want to review it so that we can have the play area to ourselves in future. Lovely food, came quickly, we had the roast and chicken skewers. Make sure you come here and boost the pubs popularity. This place isn't well advertised on the kid friendly sites and perhaps should be. We will be back
I came to Heaven’s Kitchen with my mate after hearing about the £25 each sharing special they do on Thursdays. We had the tomahawk steak which was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. You can really tell they use quality meat and know how to prepare it right. The service was great too – friendly, attentive, and made the whole evening even better. Definitely coming back soon!
Child friendly. There is a great playground for kids. 3 slides, 10 swings, climbing frames, Wendy House and a massive green garden to run around in which kept them amused. The roast Sunday lunch was absolutely lovely! Kids under 5 eat free. I liked the blackberry and cherry cider. Staff very attentive.
I love the tropical fish tank and various fish very nice in a lovely location just off the A3. I did not stay at hotel i only went for a light meal and alcohol free drink.
We booked The Squirrel Inn to celebrate our daughter's amazing life. Dorian and his team ensured that everything we had requested was provided and at least 100 friends and family were able to share their memories with us.
Absolutely Outstanding Sunday Roast! We had the pleasure of enjoying the Sunday roast at Heaven's Kitchen at the Squirrel with a group of six, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and perfectly timed. The roast itself was incredible—perfectly cooked, tender meats with rich, flavorful gravy, and all the classic trimmings. The Yorkshire puddings were beautifully crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, and the roasted vegetables were seasoned to perfection. Portions were generous, and every bite was a delight. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, making it a fantastic spot for a relaxed Sunday meal with friends or family. The staff ensured we had everything we needed and the overall experience was seamless. If you're looking for a top-tier Sunday roast, this is the place to be. We'll definitely be back!
My family attended a table for the Boxing day festive menu at Heaven's kitchen. We were all very impressed with the level of customer service. Our waiter was attentive, efficient and also had a great humor and made us laugh. The food was delicious!! Fabulous dishes and the price was extremely reasonable. It was most of our first time visiting here and we will definitely be back.
First visit to The Squirrel Inn. Food was superb and service was very good too. Nice feel to the place.
Stopped en route to London for a quick meal and had the most fantastic experience at this pub. We were greeted by Dave who couldn't have done more to make our two children feel more welcome. The children's menu was the best they have ever seen, and high praise from our youngest who said it was the best beef burger she has ever had. As well as the usual kids meals they offer much more variety like ribs or steak, all for £10 inc dessert. Outside is a huge play park. Location is perfect if your passing, less than a minute detour from the A3. Highly recommend this pub, and I would suggest to the management that Dave should have a pay rise!
We had a wonderful Anniversary dinner at the Squirrel Inn. The staff were very welcoming and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the T-bone steak and it was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. My rack of ribs fell off the bone and I couldn’t finish the portion even though it was so tasty. Looking forward to our next visit!
We decided to try this The Squirrel Inn as our two local favourite restaurants have let us down on poor quality or missing items consistently over the past few months. When we go out we really do appreciate the quality of the food and the service. I had the Lamb shanks which were to die for. This was served in a good proportion but it was a little too much for me. No worries though ......... my better half had no quarrels on helping me out. The mash was great and the veg was cooked to perfection. My partner has the pork belly and he was impressed as I was. The only thing that springs to mind is that the service was so fast they never delivered the bread basket (which we ordered on arrival ) but we really didn't mind as the food was so good. I wish I could managed a dessert as they sounded amazing but are not advertised on the website. The serving staff were polite and friendly, we didn't need to book which was a bonus. The seating person was friendly and accommodating allowing us to choose our table. We will be back again.
No longer Heavens Kitchen, but still a great place to eat. Lunch was excellent. Hunter's Chicken was the best my wife has had. Plenty of succulent chicken and lots of tasty cheese. My lamb shank was very tasty and served with perfectly cooked veg. Finished off with 2, very sweet and yummy, Sticky toffee puddings. Dorian was as welcoming and friendly as ever, and the place was clean and comfortable.
My partner and I were given a gift card by a friend toward the cost of a meal at The Squirrel (Heavens Kitchen). We booked a table at the Godalming based restaurant and we were not disappointed! My partner had a 12oz Sirloin Steak and I had an 8oz Fillet Steak - they were superb (apart from a small amount of gristle in the Sirloin)! We both had our steaks medium rare and they were perfectly cooked and as sides, we both had chunky chips and shared a portion of Cheesy Mushrooms, which were also really nice! Although the menu is expensive and Heavens Kitchen is not somewhere we were choose normally, we were very happy with all of our food and the service was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant/pub to anyone wishing to experience first class Steak.
Everything was perfect, from the Rib-eye steak to the amazing staff and service! A massive thank you for a lovely evening! I’m not a fan of my birthday but the team here made it really hard not to enjoy, with a sweat treat and a surprise happy birthday song to celebrate. Definitely recommend!
I came here with my partners and our waitress Lucy was so welcoming to us ( we’re a polyamorous couple and we’ve had bad experiences in the past). However, here my boyfriend and girlfriend felt so safe, I would 100% recommend Heavens Kitchen to all members of society and will be making a return soon! The food was good as well 😅
We only stopped off at this pub for some pub grub on our way down south, but we’re so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious — proper hearty portions and full of flavour. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We’d definitely recommend it to both locals and anyone passing through the area. A great little find!
Lovely place, lovely food (mouthwatering!!!!!) I had the Sizzling steak YUM! amazing chefs Lovely polite staff and good service ,talkative nice to have a chat with Location is Very easy to find lots of parking spaces The rooms are spacious cozy very clean, housekeepers are very polite when they knock to check if you need anything they are also talkative too I will definitely be coming back
Beautiful setting, the food is amazing, always on top point no matter the time of day. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and always on hand to help. Would recommend and stay here again!
Lovely little place full of character. Well priced rooms that are small but have all you need. Nice food. Would recommend.
Nice meeting with siblings to get together about our Mothers passing- she loved the Squirrel!
We had lunch at Heavens kitchen today(2nd time in 2 weeks!)Once again the food was fabulous, generous portions, delicious sticky toffee sundae...yum.The staff were lovely, the chefs do a great job, everything beautifully presented. We will definitely be back!
My family stayed at the Squirrel for my wedding for 2 nights. They were absolutely brilliant. We had a meal the night before and the food was delicious, the staff were very accommodating, they let my family rehearse some music a corner of the restaurant. My family have told me the rooms were beautiful, and the whole place is set on such a nice site. We had a breakfast here the day after my wedding and it was outstanding! Very friendly and helpful staff, the food once again was outstanding and I am overall just so happy with the level of service The Squirrel have provided myself & my family!!!
A GEM What a pleasurable visit! The welcome was really warm and friendly! The menu choice hit the spot with some different offerings! You have to visit to get the full works! The food from the starters I chose to the steak (cooked to perfection) and the innovative crumble desert ! were taste bud delicious! Book... go..... Enjoy.
New year's dinner for 24? No problem. Good food (hot and all served more or less at the same time without error). Pleasant service at the bar and table service (Tony?). Nice selection of drinks. Dog friendly. One more potato next time please.
Really good food and very helpful and friendly staff made this a truly lovely experience.
Went for lunch - the food was excellent and service very friendly. Useful being so close to the A3 but not a rural location. They have cottage rooms too. Yes we would go back.
We’ve been wanting to go here for a while, ever since we went to the one in Farnham. We were greeted by super friendly staff and not once could we fault them, they were attentive, but not too attentive, quick to serve us drinks and explained everything perfectly. The steak was delicious, but for the price, and considering our previous experience at the Farnham branch it was a little disappointing. We felt that the offering was a little sparse compared to before, and this wasn’t just the steak, the stuff that came with it was a little lacking. We were a little confused why chunky chips were +£2 compared to chips with fries on. Also a nice touch would be to maybe offer something like bottomless chips, considering they cost nothing, but that would make you feel like you were getting more for your money. There were no veg and we had to pay extra for a side salad. In all we had 2 drinks each, a coffee, the tomahawk to share and a side salad, this all came to around £140, which I thought was a little steep. Like I said thought the staff could not be faulted and the steak was delicious. The location is nice, easy to get to being just next to the A3 and a good walk from home for us. They are dog friendly and we sat outside and enjoyed the on and off sun/cloud and a little drizzle.
Generous portions of main course. Liver cooked perfectly, vegetables bit underdone. Lamb shank, meat fell off the bone, lots of it.
We went here for dinner, the presentation, staff/service and view/setting is lovely, couldn’t ask for more, unfortunately the food fell short, scallops were over cooked, steak was a bit fatty for a fillet and for the prices I’d expect the food quality to match.
Nice pub. Good location for getting together. Very good service
Met a friend for lunch here and the location is very convenient. Staff were friendly and attentive and it looked like there had been a bit of a makeover since our last visit with bull themed artwork. We opted for the 2 course set menu which was reasonably priced. Starters of calamari and chicken wings were really tasty but the main of sandwich and chips was average. Bread felt a bit dry and stale. Filling was OK and the coleslaw was nice. We did not stay at the hotel so unable to comment
We visited The Squirrel Inn for the 2-4-1 meal deal last night and enjoyed a delicious steak meal. The service and food was brilliant but the restaurant and tables need some updating.
I just had an early supper on a very quiet, Thursday evening, so there was no atmosphere. Outside they have some nice seating. Despite it being quiet I had to wait for service. The menu is very heavy on steak and burgers. I tried the easy, safe option of a basic burger. The chips were excellent as was the Guiness. The burger texture was too dense for my taste. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could.
Popped in for lunch, but just ended up having a bowl of chips because quite expensive for a quick lunch. The service was so slow, had to ask for water 3 times. The staff are very nice, but almost "too nice". So over polite and formal, made me feel uncomfortable. It's just a nice pub, but seems to be trying to be more. Maybe in the evenings that works, but in the day they could relax a little.
Set out to try the new food offering for a family and friends birthday lunch. Venue looks nice , well set out and clean. There was no rush as it was quiet so had a nice chilled out meal and chat. A friend ordered a meal , there were two similar dishes on the menu and she specifically ordered the one she wanted, when it arrived it was wrong so I asked for them to change it , it came back shortly after and was still wrong with the wrong potatoes and vegetables , but didn't bother to complain again as the meal was edible. Another meal , a steak , granted we had probably confused the waiting staff or kitchen by asking for a slight deviation but the steak was under cooked , chewy fat and covered in a very salty dressing , pretty nasty to be fair. Other mains were acceptable , the lamb shank was very good. I think the prices are a little high , some of the side dishes especially. We had hoped to use them again in a few weeks for another birthday celebration but that definitely won't be happening. Sorry but overall not that impressed
Waitress (Lara) was very good and attentive, answering all our questions and supportive to the family, 5 * for her. The food, however, was a bit disappointing... Asked for 3 medium rare steaks and got medium to well done for all of them, onion rings were very greasy and the beer was flat.
Great location with a lovely little park. I can say one of the downfalls is the food quality and price. Extortionate prices for average wetherspoons quality food. They have also reduced their age for children to qualify for kids eat free. (They will also charge full price for the kids meals on the order unless you specifically ask them to do so worth bearing in mind) We have ordered steaks as well as many other items on the menu. One of the most disappointing steaks I've ever had, all knotted up with fat and almost completely inedible. We would be here ALL the time... IF the menu was sorted out.
Disappointing Steak Experience I was really looking forward to a great steak, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark. My steak arrived overcooked and dry, so I had to send it back. By the time it came out again, my friends had already finished their meals. The second steak was better, but still not perfect. On top of that, I ordered the bone marrow chips, which turned out to just be cold butter on French fries—definitely not worth the extra money. With the steak already being pricey, it was a letdown all around. Almost £100 later I was disappointed and it wasn’t the dining experience I was hoping for.
First the good news. The pub / restaurant was enjoyable, well appointed and with good service. The food was tasty - wine especially - if on the expensive side. Now to the disappointment. The rooms are not up to hotel standard - barely motel. Two heaters in such a small room tells me the building is poorly insulated. But in mid June this means scorching heat in a small south facing room with no aircon, no fan, barely any ventilation and a towel rail that could not be switched off. It is safe to say I did not have a good night. I couldn't even distract myself with TV - it didn't work. Added to that, and the heater (obviously not in use) had an unsafe flex leading me to wonder what else was neglected. But it continues. Tossing and turning in the middle of the night, I felt something crawling on me. Worried it might be a bedbug, I caught it but "luckily" only an ant. To the staff: NOW would be a good time to bin that heater and AT LEAST stick a fan in there. And FIX the TV, don't just go "yeah we know".
We visited for a family work Christmas party and were left disappointed. First impressions weren’t great, with kitchen staff sitting on their phones in the dining area on arrival. The drinks were also poor. The rosé tasted cheap and overly acidic and didn’t match the menu description. We tried another wine with the same issue and eventually opted for Prosecco, which was also low quality. The menu is quite pricey, so expectations were high. While the food looked good, it tasted reheated or previously frozen. A steak ordered medium rare was very undercooked inside. Although the waiter was accommodating and a discount was applied, the overall food quality didn’t justify the prices. Not the standard we’d expect.
Experience was disappointing. One of our meals was incorrect so they had to wait for their meal to arrive whilst the rest of the table started so as not to go cold. We were then charged for the incorrect more expensive meal and over charged service charge due to the way their system works. Overall not the experience we had hoped for a treat night out. We’ve been quite a few times and not noticed how service charge is calculated so I actually feel swindled and will unlikely be going again now we know. Advice, check your bill and make management aware, they must have been taking extra money from customers for years!
It’s such a shame as this pub/restaurant has so much potential, great location, parking, great outdoor seating areas but the service and more now than ever since a menu change, the food really lets it down. My partner and I visited recently as we do often. I would normally have the chicken skewers and some extra veg on the side as it was the healthiest item on the menu. Disappointingly the menu has changed and there isn’t a healthy option. Anything chicken is deep fried from frozen. Only a starter of a ‘Greek salad’ was offered.. that was disappointing too and drowned in cheap oil. Chicken burger which my partner had was a couple of dry buns filled with a deep fried chicken breast which dripped with and smelled of used cooking oil, a slice of tomato and a dollop of sauce. The coleslaw looked and tasted like the cheapest basics brand from cash and carry. Hugely overpriced and service was almost non existent. What’s happened? This could be such an amazing place with good food and decent staff but until something has been done about the menu which honestly I’ve seen better options at Wetherspoons (many years ago too), we won’t be going back.
I dined at the Squirrel last night with 2 friends and were disappointed compared with previous visits. The waiter was attentive and pleasant ( even if he added ice to my drink when I had specifically asked for none!), but not all the items we chose from the menu were available and the batter on my fish was not fully cooked. Our main gripe, however, was with the rather grumpy landlord when we paid our bill. We had been charged for lemonade when we'd only had soda and he said they were a card only business when I offered cash. Very poor when we had not been made aware of this fact. Truth is, because we weren't confident that the deserts we may have ordered would be available, we all left having spent £30 each yet still hungry. Suffice to say, we won't be going back!
The staff were really nice but service was incredibly slow and the food wasn't very good. My chicken breast was huge and served with what looked like one small potato cut into three wedges, and some broccoli. The broccoli was nice but overall the meal was quite dry and also left me still hungry. Dessert (tiramisu) was alright at least (to the owner - thank you for your vigilance and nobody likes a fake review but yes I did eat here, the booking was not in my name and it was a group of four on a Friday lunchtime)
Two for breakfast one did not wish all items but still charged for two full. On menu states £3.00 for unlimited coffee/tea, charge £6.00 bit misleading unless you read it twice then could mean free with breakfast or £3.00 much as you like with breakfast. After all that the food was bearly adequate so not again, plenty of better place's in godalming
Awful rude staff particularly the manager. I have never ever come across such an arrogant rude condescending individual in my life he is clearly way out of his depth and in the wrong industry. He overbooked us on the night Tuesday 16th September then tried to blame us for giving him the wrong date even though we had concrete evidence that we booked for that particular night.. the whole experience was horrendous. I wouldn't stay here if you gave me free accommodation for a week ..Awful Staff avoid this place at all cost's..
Staff are great food is ok ish. But rooms are awful they need to be refurbished. And I left early and couldn't get my money back. And the Bar is very sticky needs good wash
: A Disastrous Christmas Dinner – AVOID AT ALL COSTS I never write reviews, but after our appalling experience at this restaurant for Christmas dinner, I feel compelled to warn others. We booked a 6-course meal for five people, expecting a special evening. What we got was a chaotic, overpriced ordeal. To start, 3 of 5 of us received drinks on arrival, and we waited over 30 minutes before we could even order another. When we finally did, one drink never arrived, yet we were charged for it. This set the tone for the rest of the evening. Over 4.5 hours, we begged for our food. Courses arrived cold, incomplete, or burnt. Our main course was cold, our dessert was missing key components, and by the time the final course was due, we were so disheartened we opted to settle the bill and leave. We complained to both the waitresses and the manager. The manager’s excuse? He was “overwhelmed.” For a restaurant charging over £500 for this experience, such an excuse is unacceptable. This place ruined our Christmas. The service was abysmal, the food was a disgrace, and the management clearly couldn’t handle the evening. I strongly urge you to avoid this restaurant—it’s simply not worth your time, money, or patience. You couldn’t pay me to return.
