My first time trying breakfast at Mama's Egg house and it was great. The Prosciutto Egg's Benedict is delicious! My wife had the Meat Lovers breakfast, their sausage is so tasty. Neat place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly and the food was served 10 minutes after we ordered. So fast for a Saturday morning! We'll definitely go there again when we're in town.
I ordered the Manny's Omelette, which has chorizo, nopales (catus), mushrooms, red onion, pepper jack cheese, and avocado. I ordered mine with hash brown, and instead of toast, I paid $2 more for a biscuit and gravy. The gravy was delicious!!! I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.
Went here and was very surprised and enjoyed immensely. Got the chicken fried steak and potatoes and it was amazing. Super great gravy, mimosas was excellent and the view and dog friendly patio was very chill and relaxed. Parking could be an issue since the lot is small and street parking is guessing game depending on the crowd size. This place was busy in a good way, everyone seemed to go there, most likely to the great food and be options.
Mama's is a perfect place for brunch. The first time we visited Idyllwild, we were so impressed with the food that we had to come back. We live about an hour away, and the drive is worth it. Make sure to try their ribeye and the Golden Hour juice!
On a busy weekend it gets a bit tight in the line to order food. If you have the patience this place is quite worth it. Great morning cocktails and great breakfast options. Definitely a little Chicano flavor especially with the chiliquiles!
Nice outdoor seating with beautiful views. I had the Filet Mignon Benedict and it was delicious. The meat itself had amazing flavor, the house potatoes and latte were yummy. We made a few recommendations to some tourists since we had really enjoyed our meals and they were pleased aswell. Next time we're in town we will be back.
The food was incredible, I dare say the steak was one of the best cooked steaks I've ever had. I ordered the chilaquiles and steak, the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked and so so tender. The service was really quick! Love the atmosphere of the place, it's definitely going to become a place we eat at when we visit Idyllwild. 10/10 ⭐❤️
Everytime im in idyllwyld I get breakfast here. Love the outdoor seating. The chili Verde omelet is amazing and so are the bennys. Everyone's friendly here. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Dog friendly
We arrived at about 10 am and there was a little line outside. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the counter. I had waffle and eggs and replace the sausage links with a vegetarian options which was available ( I guess they use morning star breakfast sausage from the taste ) .. Orange juice was fresh and coffee was good, too.
The portions here are very generous so you can easily split an entree with one other person. I got the Chicken fried steak… it was out of this world! Finger licking good. Gravy is made from scratch it is a perfect balance of cream and spices. The food is so bomb you can smell it from down the street. It’s a cutesy restaurant w outdoor heated seating and in door seating. Would definitely come back here again.
I had the BLTA and my Dad had the steak sandwich. Both were robust in flavor and filling. The fries were good as well. The staff was helpful and friendly
Tried this place a few times while we were in town. Try everything from the tiramisu French toast to the breakfast burrito, California breakfast burrito, tried three meat plate I think it was called or the meat plate. my crew tried various other items on their menu. what I can tell you is we enjoyed all of them. There was never one complaint the entire time we ate here The food was fresh it was hot it was delicious I highly recommend this place we also enjoyed sitting out on the patio everyday.
This is my go to place, every time I come here I order something different. Portions are good, enough to share, I have not been disappointed. Had thier fried stake breakfast. Best I have had. Give them a try, you will not be disappointing 😊
Busy during the weekend but worth the wait. While we were waiting, I was eyeing all the food being brought out. There burgers looked huuuge, burritos were gigantic! I ordered the Chilaquillas and rib eye, and it was delicious. Outside seating as well as inside. No fountain drinks, only bottled, coffees, OJ and I believe I saw them making some mixed alcoholic drinks too. Definitely recommend
Loved the breakfast burrito (with bacon) and a green juice. Nice ambience outside and friendly staff. 10/10. Definitely recommend.
We have been here 3 times already, which means the flavor of the food is so Delicious!! Their Chicken and Waffle is oh my so mouthwatering good!!!! Their French Toast is delicious as well.... we have ordered the Country Fried Steak, the Chile Relleno Omelette, the BLT, the Bacon Burger, and everyone has been satisfied and pleased with the taste of their food! Top it with a glass of fresh squeezed Orange Juice and oh my... it’s a wonderful breakfast. It is a bit pricey but we really enjoy our time eating at the outdoor sitting enjoying the fresh air of nature! I can honestly say that everyone in our party recommends this place.
I wanted to not like this place because the price for the quantity seemed high, but the execution on the flavor of the cocktails for lunch and the salad was exquisite. Kudos to Juan for making some truly remarkable beverages. The Hibiscus Margarita 🌺 and The Empress Lavender Lemonade drink were memorable, refreshing, and so tasty. You can see the effort that went into these quality drinks. I was pissed that the side of fries were $7. There were like 40ish fries. We also ate there for breakfast. Felt it was pricey but we’re here in the mountains, it basically tourist pricing so I figure we gotta deal with it and be grateful to be here. Still giving them 5 starts.
Wonderful food, staff (all of them, especially Rosie the manager), and atmosphere. Great place recommend highly.
We ate at many great restaurants during our long weekend to Idyllwild but this was the only place we went to twice! It may look busy but the line moves fast. We had biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak, ahi tuna salad, BLTA sandwich, a few different smoothies, and everything was delicious. We'd definitely stop in again next time we're in town.
EASILY top 10 best best breakfast places in America, for classic items like Benedict or the rib eye and eggs. Drinks are marvelous too. We had the ahi tuna salad, the waffle and bacon, rib eye steak was maybe the best ever. Gravy and biscuit combo was so good. Plenty of parking around. The huge patio terrace is so cute too. Service is kind and very effective in this absolute hit. A hot spot I would blindly recommend to everyone passing by!
Idyllwide , CA The vegan food here was soooo delicious. The portions are huge so the entrees at approx $20 each could possibly be 2 meals. Mountain town on the PCT so this restaurant attracts the thru hikers.
Mama Eggs house is a very nice and modern, yet cozy and comforting place to eat at if you are with the family and want some delicious brunch. There is plenty of beautiful outdoor seating to enjoy the natural view. Aside from the vibe itself, the food was incredible! I ordered the birria chilaquiles and my mind was absolutely blown away. The birria itself was very flavorful and really hit the mark being a solid birria, additionally the tortilla chips were perfect and crispy and were not soggy whatsoever. It is clear that they do put attention to detail in the food here. The tiramisu french toast was amazingly sweet and had such a light airiness to it that made it very fulfilling to eat. I would highly recommend this spot if your looking for food that is comforting and that would sit in the belly nicely!

Great breakfast and a wide variety of choices. I’ve tried several items and liked them all. Even though you’ll pay a couple extra dollars, they serve very generous portions and it’s worth it. Also, they have a lot of healthy juice blends.
Visited on a Saturday morning, luckily a bit before the bigger crowds. We had to wait for about 10 mins which was alright as it was still a bit cold and wet outside and we wanted to sit inside with our baby. All the employees we encountered were super friendly. One of the waitresses took our order, if you’re seated at an awkward table they will let you know if you have to place your order at the counter. The food came out super fast and was some of the best food I’ve had in a while (I’ve yet to find a Hispanic food place as good in SD). My husband and I shared the Birria Chilaquiles (spicy) and the Humpty Dumpty Burger which balanced out the spicy food. The regular coffee was good and they’ll top you off for the road. A bit pricey but what restaurant isnt pricey just how it has been most days and the food did not disappoint. Also if I’m not mistaken they have vegan options. I wish I would have tried their juices or lattes because they have a fancy coffee machine. Can’t wait to be back when there’s some snow.
This place deserves 6 stars. The food and service were impeccable. This is not explicitly a Mexican restaurant, but the Mexican items are the most authentic I've ever had, coming from someone who's mother and grandmother are traditional Mexican mothers. The juices were so good too. And my vegan wife had a plethora of options which is very welcome. Highly recommend
From the moment you arrive, you'll realize this isn't your typical breakfast joint, which adds to it's charm. The open seating setup, with it's perfect balance of indoor coziness and outdoor fresh air and sunshine, sets the tone for a relaxed, welcoming meal. Time slows down here. You'll likely arrive to find a line out the front door. Don't let that detour you! That's how you will order. As you wait in line, the servers will float past with plates that will make your mouth water and have you rethinking your order several times. Honestly, it's the best kind of marketing, every dish that passed by made me hungrier and more excited to try this charming spot. Ordering was simple and our drinks were served right away. The coffee did not disappoint and that alone deserves 5 stars, along with the fresh squeezed sunshine in a glass, we call orange juice. Do to the genius marketing, we shared our plates to be able to get a more in depth experience of flavor. Our taste buds were tantalized by a Belgian waffle with eggs, and a hearty breakfast burrito. Both simple and flavorful. This spot has officially earned it's place of my "return again" list.
Place was great. food was perfect especially in idylwild can be a tough place to find good food let alone great food the burrito breakfast amazing the biscuits and gravy were different from what I am use to but tasty. will return staff was friendly and all pay attention to great detail pancakes were good too

Idyllwild is one of my favorite spots to visit on the weekend. Fortunately, they have a restaurant that offers a pretty decent vegan menu! I’ve tried the breakfast bowl and the potato tacos, both of which were good. The potato tacos are really unique, and I’m a big fan of them. The outdoor patio area is lovely when the weather is cool out. There are a lot of flies, but they’ve started providing tables with a lil fly deterrent so it’s not really an issue anymore!
You give your order at the counter, pay, and then your order is brought to you. Other than that, no other service is provided. There is a self-serve station before the outdoor seating, but as this looks like a wait staff station, it can be overlooked. As this was my first experience at this restaurant, I did not realize we were expected to gather courtesy water cups, jelly, extra napkins, etc. until we had pushed four rows into the crowd and settled in at a table against the rail separating the restaurant from the sidewalk. The 2 drinks ordered came up first, then 3 separate trips for the entrees. My waffle, hashbrowns, sausage, & eggs were warm, not hot, but the waffle, served with one pat of butter, was delicious even before I added the syrup. The large 3 sausages were flavorful & I shared those & the hashbrowns with the others. The eggs ordered hard were just a bit runny in the middle. Overall, it was a good experience. Portions were decent-sized, fresh, and mildly seasoned. Tourist priced, which included tip just for 1 meal only: $25.42, which consisted of a waffle, 3 eggs, 3 sausages, and a side of hashbrowns. See the pictures attached.
My husband had recently eaten at Mama's on a solo trip and he enjoyed it so much he planned a road trip to take us there for breakfast and enjoy a day in Idyllwild. The restaurant is cozy and we enjoyed sitting outside under the pine trees on a cold sunny day. I ordered chilaquiles with no protein, but they arrived with chicken. I really was not craving chicken, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning them. The chilaquiles were good. My beet juice was delicious and everyone enjoyed their breakfast. It is a little pricey and you must be patient because the line was out the door since you need to order your food at the counter.
Want to state up front that we were there on a very off peak Tuesday so hardly anyone was there. Loved the variety on this menu. Breakfast items and lunch items. I had a beet and goat cheese salad (I know these have become trendy but I really do like them!). It was good but not that best ever. Flavor was good but quantity was a little small. Also has some very large pieces of greens that made eating it a little awkward. Enjoyed it though. My lunch mates had the tiramisu French toast (4 stars), omelette with cactus? (4 stars), and chorizo burrito (4 stars). Ambience was average for this kind of place. Enjoyed it and would return should I come back here.
Enjoyed an early morning breakfast sitting outside. It was such a gorgeous day in Idyllwild. This cute little restaurant was open, so I stopped in for breakfast. You seat yourself and order inside, and the waitress/waiter will bring your food to your table. The food was pretty good, definitely larger size portions, a bit pricey on the drinks in my opinion, $8 for some orange juice and $4 for tea, water container outside for free water.
A great place for breakfast and lunch! All of the food was delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect. I gave 4 stars for service because a waitress told me to be seated and that she would bring me a menu, but she never did. I gave 4 stars for atmosphere because the outdoor seating area appears to have a yellowjacket problem even in the winter, which makes it uncomfortable to eat outside.
Stopped by to get a vegan breakfast burrito for lunch since my partner has an egg allergy. It was big enough to split comfortably and quite tasty.
Great restaurant just a little confusing for a first time visitor! It reminds me of Disneyland where you find the menu and try to pick out something that sounds good no waitress to answer question but they do carry the food out to your table. I guess at Disneyland there’s a pick up window so a little different. Now if you didn’t order enough drinks you will need to wait in line again. With my five year old this restaurant was a little inconvenient and awkward. I’m used to a waiter or waitress style restaurant with a hostess. I almost feel they should put up a sign with instructions. Delicious food after all the confusion and everyone works hard I didn’t know if I was supposed to tip since I paid up front. I think I added a tip but this was seriously a confusing and busy restaurant. I like going down the hill to Patsy Mae’s takes 28 minutes to get there. I will write a review as time permits. -A

First time here. Super busy! We waited 1hr to get seated. Worth The Wait! Staff is there to get the job done! respectful and kind! We got breakfast and coffee Food tasted fresh and delicious! Definitely recommend it cant wait to go back to try lunch and the mixed drinks!
First of all this is our favorite place in town and food is amazing and typically service has been the 17+ other times we have eating here. This morning my wife ordered for us and food came out fast and only issue was my wife ordered ranchero instead of chilaquiles. I walked to the counter and let them know she ordered the wrong item and could I swap it or just use this dish and modify or add chips. She first insisted we preferred the wrong item and then after going back and forth with an attitude told me she had to charge me full price for another dish. Typically I’d be ok with this but there was just an energy she was not willing to meet us half way or even cared what I did It triggered me and I let her know just forget about it. We just shared my wife’s dish and I can’t say this experience would prevent us from returning but as an owner that values service and works really hard to uphold a standard I would want to know any experiences that may not align with customer first. How I would have handled it would be simply ask how can we make you happy? Maybe charge me 5$ for chips and call it a day.
FYI as of Jan 24th, 2026, patrons need to order at the counter and then seat themselves. I was given a menu and was not told to order at the counter, and ended up sitting for 15 minutes at the table. I finally asked and was told to order at the counter, which I got up and left. I would have ordered, but my 4 year old was already squirmy and decided to leave. Atmosphere was nice and had plenty of outside heat lamps, which kept the outside area warm.
It took quite a while to get food, but we were enjoying the view outside so it wasn’t that bad!

Folks working there are pleasant, plenty of seating outside, and their smoothies were good. That’s where the good ended for us. Food was so bad though. Just terrible taste and 4 of us asked for over medium eggs and 3 of us got practically raw eggs. They nailed the 4th one however. Pancakes were dry and flavorless. Their lattes? Think Chevron coffee. I’m fine paying tourist prices if the food is good but this place isn’t it. Won’t be back.
The food looked and smelled like tastes good and the atmosphere is beautiful, but the customer service was the worst I’ve ever experienced and completely ruined my Christmas vacation. They got my order wrong and never confirmed it with me. I ordered chilaquiles with steak on the side for my son, and I chilaquiles for myself because I have lupus and cannot eat meat. Instead, they brought me steak and eggs. When I checked the receipt, they insisted that was what I paid for and refused to exchange the food, blaming me for not checking sooner. They were unwilling to work with me or fix the mistake. When my friend tried to explain the situation, they told him the same thing. He became upset and started arguing because they were insisting he eat food that was not what we ordered. At that point, a kitchen employee came out and tried to confront my friend and told us to leave. I had to calm my friend down and explain the entire situation again, emphasizing that no one had tried to resolve the issue. Eventually, they did bring out the correct chilaquiles, but the staff was angry and rude about it. They even gave extra food, but I didn’t feel comfortable eating it after how everything was handled. Overall, this was a terrible experience. If you come here, make sure to check your order carefully, because they don’t double-check and will charge you regardless. The poor customer service overshadowed what could have been a nice visit.
