Opinions de Khalil Biryani House Jamaica
Easily top grade place for Bangladeshi food in NYC, and that says a lot. Their (weekend only) "special beef biriyani" is one of the best biriyani anywhere.
Hands down, some of the best food I have ever eaten. It is consistently amazing. Everything from the seekh kebabs to the Beef Curry or Goat Biryani is fantastic. Highly recommend.
Today was our second visit to Khalil. The food was GREAT! My whole family liked them. The stuffs were also helpful. We ordered Kacchi Biriyani, Beef Tehari, Kabab and a Chicken Tanduri. Not gonna lie Kacchi Biriyani’s price was quite expensive. There is no particular reason to charge that much for the kacchi. Beef tehari price quite normal still expensive! Quality and Taste and representation of the foods were top notch but the price is quite EXPENSIVE!! Oh, they could’ve installed a mirror by the sink!
Khalil Biryani has a bustling atmosphere, but the seating situation leaves much to be desired. The limited space and small tables often require sharing, which can be uncomfortable, especially during busy times. I tried the special beef biryani, which was flavorful but disappointing in portion size—just one large piece of meat. The beef tehari I took out was not impressive and fell short of expectations. The chicken roast with polau was decent On a positive note, the staff were helpful, and I also sampled the kebabs, which were just okay. Overall, while the food has its highlights, improvements in seating and portion sizes would enhance the experience.
This is the place to go to if you’re craving any type of biryani. The biryani dishes are absolutely delicious. The fish curry was tasty as well as the chicken roast Palau. I took off and one star because men consistently push women and have no respect for them in the line. The people that work here need to do better with that. The tables to sit at are disgusting and not cleaned prior to a new customer sitting down. The floors also need attention as well. This place is better served as a take-out spot. The food is consistent good.
They used to make kacchi biriyani with baby goat and that was really delicious! Unfortunately, they started using Australian Goat or something similar for the goat biryani. That's ridiculous; lost the quality of cooking and ingredients. If you take out you will always get mostly rice, very little meat but, if you dine in, you will get meat proportionately- that's my experience.
The food was good and the service was okay as well. It's a little crowded and the ventilation wasn't that great. But my main concern was the interaction between the so-called "owner" and a newly hired server. The way the owner was talking/scolding the waitress was extremely rude and very demeaning. I understand she was new, and any new employee needs proper training. He could have the conversation in private. It was humiliating. We kind of lost the appetite after hearing the way he was talking down towards the employees. We don't think we'll go back to this place where employees are not treated as humans but as modern slaves. The owner seems to forget his roots and shows his superficial power over employees. Feel sorry for those employees who have no choice but to work there with him.
My first time trying their food was in Bronx & it was ok. This place in Jamaica, queens I ran into by accident lol. Looked clean but very limited space for seating . I actually had to seat with other people & it was very weird eating with strangers! Hopefully in future they will have more space ! Customer service was ok, restroom could be cleaner ! Didn't smell ok! I wanted to try their kacchi. (goat) biryani but the price shocked me! I was just telling myself with that price the biryani should taste amazing ! Rice portion was quite enough for one person but meat was not much! I expected more meat in the biryani! I liked the food but little too sweet for my taste! I asked extra green chillies just to finish my food . So for that price & taste would I travel that far just to try their food , not sure ! If I am on that area maybe I will try something else .
I ordered three different kebabs and a chicken drumstick. After eating just one piece of kebab, I started feeling extremely sick and had severe stomach pain. I didn’t want to post this, but this is the third time in the past year that I’ve had a bad experience, and I’m really upset by the consistent disappointment with their food. I also took photos of the drumstick from multiple angles to clearly show that the chicken was undercooked. There were fresh blood stains, and the meat was visibly raw and pink, which clearly indicates it wasn’t properly cooked.
I have had biriyani from them in the past and always had a good experience but today (02/19/26) i bought their kacchi goat biriyani and Oh My God. They only gave a small piece of meat and gigantic three chunkes of just FAT. My appetite dropped immediately after seeing it not to mention there was no potato. I paid $21.76 dollars which felt like absolute waste of my money cus it felt like i gave that money to get fat chunks. Never returning here again after this experience.
Yesterday, we went to their Jamaica branch and ordered beef tehari, beef kacchi, and goat kacchi. Honestly, it was one of the worst biriyanis we’ve ever had. We’re never going there again. Please don’t waste your money there.
beef biryani here is a disappointment, it's overloaded with fat and bones, with barely any good meat pieces. The taste is awful, I wouldn't dare step into this place again. 😤 biggest red flag of this restaurant is posted at the door pending grades, they probably have failed the inspection
I ordered through phone call at 11am and I told them that I would pick it up by 1pm. The order was not ready when I went to the store. I asked them many times about my order whether it was ready or not 5 times. They kept saying to wait with no further instructions. The short lady that was working on the register had a bad attitude and not professional whatsoever, and needs to get properly trained. On top of that she kept on cutting me off without letting me finish my concern and talked to her co worker that came out of nowhere. They both started to blame at me saying that it was my fault that I did not take the order and it was placed on top of a garbage can. Although the order was big, they did not notify that it is placed there. Once I left to long Island, they called 30 minutes later to say that we did not take the order. Also, when I asked for asked for a refund they argued and said that they do not give refund and still blamed on me even though it was the workers fault. I am a regular customer at this store where I was mistreated not once but multiple times with rude behavior. There should be also clear directions where customers should pick up their order. The guy on the register who takes the customer is very rude and condescending, where I have seen him treat customer the same way before.
So I am a regular customer of Khalil Biryani House Other employees always been nice I went there at 12:41 am basically they going to close but the guy named. Sharif is so ridiculous he don’t even know how to behave with customers. I never ever complained before but this kind of customer service is unacceptable he was too rude as I was just asking for the price of the foods worst guy ever
⭐ 1 Star They used to sell some of the best biryani in the community, starting from their original Bronx location. As everyone knows, that Bronx branch is now permanently closed—and honestly, that explains a lot. When the main branch shuts down, it really makes you question what’s going on with the remaining locations. I recently bought a full tray of beef Tehari for $150, and it was a complete joke. There was barely any meat—mostly rice. At best, maybe 2 pounds of beef, if that. Paying $150 and essentially getting a tray of rice is unacceptable. They also said the tray comes with salad, but when I asked for it, they handed me one tiny foil container. That’s it. This feels like straight-up exploitation of the community. The pricing is outrageous, the portions are misleading, and the value is nonexistent. What you’re actually buying for $150 is shocking once you see it. I used to genuinely love this place, which makes this even more disappointing. The quality has collapsed, the service is terrible, and it’s now one of the most overpriced and disappointing food experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this place to anyone—not even to try. Save your money and go elsewhere.
If I can give a star I will give that. This is good location where they get lots of locals Bangladeshi customers. We as an Indian found it to be the decent one in hillside. We normally order the combo whenever we go around that area. First it was good they served the portion in individual bowls that's comes in the $11:99 combo. As we started to become a more frequent visitor. The portion size decreases sometimes and then sometimes they started say Dal is not ready or this Sabi is not ready.....we are ok until we asked for substitute with other Curries or Dal its will become little annoying for them.....then they end up giving a bit of it angrily not even a full portion like it supposed to be......you should see their. faces as if we asking for free food. After our meal we normally order Chai now then started to ask us to leave because other customers are waiting its not like other sit are not available it is available. I found them very racist. I won't recommend this restaurant for all. It's just a Bangladeshi restaurant not suitable for other natives.
I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. From the moment we walked in, the attitude of the staff was off-putting. They seemed annoyed and rushed, barely making eye contact. Instead of taking our order, they huffed and asked if we were ready, but didn’t give us a chance to respond before walking away. We felt completely ignored and unwelcome. After waiting another long stretch without any sign of the staff returning, we decided to leave. It was clear that the staff didn’t care about providing good service, which is a shame because the ambiance of the restaurant appeared nice. I won’t be returning, as there are plenty of other places that value their customers and know how to treat them with respect.
Not a new york local. They used to sell good food. Went and bought some Somucha, Roll, Chop. We get in our car and it starts smelling. We went back to the store, saying this was smelling. Asked kindly whether these were made today. They insisted these were good. We got the food home still smells! This is specially bad, when we went back to the store saying the food smells. বাংলাদেশী খবর দোকানে এই অভিজ্ঞতা খুব কষ্টের কারণ ।
So i placed an order over the phone for a chicken biriyani and picked it up within 10 min of placing the order, after i picked it up and was about to eat it i see the food wasn’t hot. They never cared to heat up the food at all and later i see they gave me only one piece of chicken where every where else you get two pieces.
I bought the Chana, kebabs and beef tehari. Disgusting beef tehari. There was so much bones, and fat. There was no proper meat in here. The TEHARI was tasteless. We had better beef tehari at Fulkole in ozone park. We added caramelized onion because there was no taste. Oh and the portion is extremely small. lol I paid $18 at fulkole and got what could feed 5 people. Kebab was good. The Chana was also nasty and very small portion. Honeslty wouldn’t even recommend this place.
