Opinions de DQ Grill & Chill Johnson City
Best onion rings, best milkshakes, best service, best prices, best smells. Told my brother this is my new favorite place to eat out! ... especially the milkshakes which were an awesome deal compared to the Dairy Queen in Ga where i used to go to.
They have the best ice cream. This D.Q. does a better job at making blizzards, milk shakes, dipped cones, sundaes, and banana splits. I have been going here for treats for 35 years and still love it.
I ♥️ $7 meal deal w hot fudge sundae and basic cheeseburger...thru drive up window it's the best when doing errands and need to fuel up. Thankful for DQ all over the place too.
Absolutely great service!! I hadn't been there in a while so asked what deals they had. The girl at the counter was extremely helpful and got me a great meal. They have $5-$6 deals that are great!! Definitely go in and enjoy the service!
I bought the 4 piece chicken strip basket w/ gravy & sm drink & was incredibly delicioso! I just couldn't find straws @ the drink station. Plus, I love the cashier's sparkly pink nails.
I wish it wasn't so expensive or I'd eat here more often!
Smiling faces and great food with plenty of treats for when your sweet tooth kicks in. The 5 buck chicken tenders deal comes with country gravy. Yes gravy on fries is delicious ....need I say more, let me just give this 5 stars
Love their ice cream, burgers, chicken strips and fries. We use the app and pick up in their pick up area, no wait at all.
Food is always good it's just usually slow In drive thru and when people have to wait a little longer for.something they've ordered theu need to park somwhere else besides blocking the drive thru till customers can't get out.
A friend looked at me and said I've got $10 bucks what can we do? She had DQ coupons. I got a combo, she a kids meal. Shared onion rings, she hadn't coffee and were both full. Good company and good food. It was very nice.
Mine and my wife's favorite late night guilty pleasure. Always going at night to get DQ Blizzards. The staff is always very kind and our blizzards are always on point. Very generous with toppings.
I love dairy queens food, there looked over alot but there amazing burgers and the way they have so many combinations of blizzards it truly is a good place to stop and eat.
Food is Always Great No matter what location I go to.. Ice Cream is the Best here!! On a Hot Day this is the Best place to stop and get lunch or just stop to get any kind of ice cream…… It SURE IS MY FAVORITE!!!
My children love D.Q. but we've not tried their food just their different flavored Blizzards. Really sweet and tasty. Better than frozen ice cream at supermarkets.
Dairy Queen isn't just for ice cream. Their chicken strips and hamburgers are really good. I love to have bbq sauce added to my burger. They've got seasonal Blizzards out now too.
They are very extra clean here at this Main Street location in Johnson City , TN . The food is always fresh to order , Harvest Berry Blizzard , and Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Blizzard are addictive and awesome !! Friendly Staff both inside and drive thru .
Same staff for years , great lunch , and they had the best breakfast, but quit serving it.
I think this is the best tasting Dairy Queen I have eaten in 30 years
Enjoyed a hot fudge sundae with extra fudge. Yummy!
The food was great! Extremely happy with food, ice cream and curbside service. The location was super busy. We ate in our vehicle and service time was about 15 minutes. May seem long but the entire hour that we were there eating the line never stopped being wrapped around the building. They kept it moving. They were working extremely hard. I was shocked to get such great service and food as busy as they were. Will definitely visit again!
One of the most underrated fast food restaurants has to be Dairy Queen! It is close to my work so I decided to give it a try for lunch. I had the chicken strip dinner with the white gravy as my dipping sauce since my mother swears their gravy is as good as what my grandmother used to make. I also got a chili dog because the picture of it looked so good. Service was really good and the person that took my order was super friendly. The chicken strip dinner was delicious, but the star of my order was that super delicious chili dog. The French fries are the best fast food fries I have ever had - they were definitely cooked fresh just for me. The only reason that I gave this restaurant 3 stars on atmosphere is because I didn't go inside, but just used the drive-thru. I think next time, I am going to try one of their burgers.
Great place to go. Took all the kids there after a school program for blizzards and ice creams and everyone had a blast. The kids got everything they wanted and it was the exact way they wanted it. Plus the servers delivered it upside down the exact way they are supposed to! A great Dairy Queen to visit. I highly recommend this location to anyone seeking frozen desserts.
Very good food. Staff very friendly. It was very busy though and pretty busy every time I go by. It's an old building and can tell it but regardless of the looks, the food is good. I recommend
The cashier was super slow!! At the time I was there, there was no one else there, and I was getting, was a gift card!! It took a good 12 minutes for her to get it for me!! I've been there in the past and gotten the same thing, and it took just a couple of minutes.. and they were slammed that particular day! So I think she could've done better!!!
Great food. Fresh and perfect peaceful place for the kids. Three of us all ate for 20 bucks.
Kenzie and Susanna at the DQ in Grey TN went above and beyond to help a sweet old lady who fell outside, scraped her elbow and hit her head. They were fast to react with the medical kit they had and attended the lady until medical staff was able to get there! I was very impressed with the care and urgency they showed!
The burgers and fries are really good. The cakes are decorated very nice and the ice cream is awesome. Its very clean and the workers are friendly and helpful.
Very accommodating! The lobby is closed from short staff and Covid procedures but they’ve got a good system going. They were able to identify my mom’s black car in the middle of the night to bring me my chicken sandwich. And it was piping hot! Best ice cream to this day! How do they do it?
So good. But one time they did make my blizzard so thin that I drank it through a coffee stirrer.

Great service and decent pricing, if only the full menu was available. But with everything going on, I suppose this is to be expected. All in all it was good, kiddos loved their soft-serve cones, the blizzards, and the "cupfections".
I've been eating at this DQ for decades. The food has changed so much since my first blizzard 30yrs ago. Ahh.. how I miss the rebel steak and the chicken breast sandwich.
Good, not terribly expensive for a DQ. Would have given this place 5 stars had the clerk not been so unfriendly bordering on snarky. Sorry if she's having a bad day but if so, the manager should have put someone on the counter a little more personable.
It was great. They even did the thing where they turn the blizzard upside down. BUT they don't have cherries
Stopped and got 2 waters because we had been working on rental property and it was 92 outside. The water not only tasted terrible but when I opened the cup to pour it out there was a bug in it😡
Ice cream is always good and blizzards are amazing. Service was slow and has been for awhile now but I think it was due to staffing issues as there never seems to be many workers present.
Just had a Oreo blizzard with fudge in it it was good everybody was polite and professional
Haven't been to a Dairy Queen for years. Loved their burger...got it with everything. They had the best onion rings. Forgot to take pictures.
Great food. Need to make sure the order taker listens to you. Twice they have gotten it wrong.
If you wouldn't have to wait so long it would be okay the food is okay could be better
My favorite parking lot to cry in. Kind of exposed to the road, but at least you can eat your blizzard in your car while you have your existential crisis. Sometimes the drive through vibes are whack but what're you gonna do these poor kids make $7.25 an hour.
You can't go wrong with a blizzard or other sweet treat. Also like their chicken strip basket with delicious Texas toast I've been going to Dairy Queen since I was a child. I have a ton of fond childhood memories that involve Dairy Queen but it's not the same and I miss alot of the foods that they used to have on the menu. Especially the little burgers, they used to make the best little slider...before we named them sliders. I also miss HOT FUDGE CAKES!
It's a very nice and friendly atmosphere good food restaurants is clean restrooms are clean. This is a fast food chain so don't expect anything to be like a restaurant that you'd pay $25 for food.

The food is pretty good, the prices are on the expensive side, some of the employees are nice, but this place is very slow and the interior and exterior both are frequently dirty. The interior looks like it gets cleaned once a day at most, but the exterior always has trash lying around, they are always doing some type of work to the back part of the building and drive through area, and it's always very dirty.
I would say this is a little above your average dairy Queen. I may be a little prejudiced due to the fact they had a pumpkin pie blizzard. If you like pumpkin pie you have to try it. But then again I only go there for their blizzards.
Love their rotisserie chicken bites..decent prices..employees could sound a little happier when taking orders..but overall a nice place to eat somewhat good food....Their food is always COLD anymore and very small portions....used to be a favorite of my husband and mine but they've cut back on portions and it's cold by the time you get it.
Machinery broken, took order, took my money, then let me wait 10 minutes for an ice cream before letting me know there was a problem. I understand machines break down- please set a reasonable expectation for your customers in the future.
Price to quality and quantity ratio is not it. The entrance and exit is in an awkward to access location.
If you're traveling pass on by. Difficult to get off the interstate to obtain access to their parking lot. Slow service, greasy go french fries in an average fried chicken sandwich. The only thing I give 5-stars to was my chocolate milkshake.
Usually is a good place for a good meal. But I recently stopped by for a few chicken baskets, and the chicken was overcooked and the fries were sauggy. They only gave me one bbq sauce for 3 baskets, and got I'll when I had asked politely for more. The employees act like they hate their life there.
Since the new owners have took over I have not liked it that much. And the girls that work there are not very personable or nice. About a year ago I ordered a hamburger steak dinner and got it home and there was no gravy,I called and asked about the gravy and they told me they don't even serve gravy. They might have changed that now but gravy is supposed to come with hamburger steak dinner, right? It was weird.
Spent 30 minutes in the drive thru at this location on Thursday 3/23. I am perplexed as to why it took so long. However, I've had better experiences in the past with the speed of the drive thru. This time I was able to watch people across the street playing with R/C cars while I waited in the line, so it was ok.
Slowest service ever. Got into the drive thru line and was in line for 30 minutes. There is a curb all the way around so you can't escape the line if your car doesn't have decent clearance. Finally got my order and was missing items. Had to go in and get the rest, took 5 minutes till someone came to the front counter. They seemed severely understaffed for the 6:30 pm dinner hour.
We get blizzards & sides. Usually cheese curds....we drive 20 minutes out of our way 4 blizzards. Sayin that....yes I recommend Dairy Queen. Everybody needs a lil ice cream sometimes🤟🏽
My wife and I frequent this location for desserts. This is mainly because we get coupons though. They are often so busy that the wait is very long, and the ice creams often have less toppings when they are busy, when most places we go to are pretty consistent no matter how busy they are. So at times we leave feeling like even with the coupon we didn't get our money's worth, and haven't been going here as much recently.
The servers were very nice and helpful in getting us some straws and delivering the ice-cream to our table. The ice-cream flavors were good. However 3 of us ordered a blizzard and all three were not even milkshake consistency. They were very melted. There was no warning or apology for it either.
Last two times I've stopped their they always leave something out of my meal I don't understand it I don't work there but I know what goes in the Box
I got peanuts on my ice cream omg it was a salt lick....big peanuts with some of the peanut paper still in it but so very salty not good ..... An only strawberry an pineapple for fruit no cherries.... No wet walnuts ..... Ice cream was tasty though, staff super sweet and nice just very limited toppings
I ordered 3 $5 lunch box and messed up on all 3. I will give the girl whom rung me up a break because she was fairly new but they messed up on my burger and charged me extra for a Sundae that was supposed to come with the order. I will reconsider other options next time.
The cashier was nice but they didnt ask me if carry out or dinning there. I was waiting there for my food and a lady was in the lines of " what are you waiting on" in a rude voice. I gave her my receipt because I know at other places you tell them your number so I gave her the ticket. Then there was a waitress who didn't know what she was doing and was looking for me but the food was prepped as if I was eating there. But then I asked for a bag to put my food in and then I left. All food was fine, it was just the customer service that wasn't good.
Food was not good, the burgers had been cooked earlier in the day and sat for a long time, fries were not any better they were chewy and cold. The employees were nice, would have taken the food back but they locked the doors and it was only 5pm. Probably won't eat there again. Do not recommend them.
The inside of the store was closed. The line was incredibly long for the drive through. I prob waited 15 minutes. When I ordered there were about 4 cars in front of me. By the time I picked up my blizzard it was more like a thin milkshake with brownies in it. Not my favorite trip to dairy queen for sure.
Great food and deserts but they run out of gravy alot I've been several times with hrs until closing and they have no gravy and have never offered to make more even when it's 6 p.m. and they don't close for 4 more hours. Once again I go there for dinner for the family and they don't have BBQ chicken tenders this is starting to be normal it seems or they just run out of the things my family likes either way we're starting to not even consider going there anymore. Update 1=22-24 went there tonight the lobby was open went in got our food to go and it was fast and very good but most importantly it was right keep it up and I'll change my review
The food is good for the price but not for the wait. Was told it would be 6 to 8 minutes for fresh meat and fries for my chicken strip basket and flamethrower combo. I wait 15 minutes in line and get to the window, pay and then was told to pull up to wait more for fresh food for st least 10 minutes. Would've gotten an ordered pizza made fresh faster than this. Must be patient to eat here.
Yes the food is the best and the ice cream is out of this world. But working with the staff was extremely hard. They've been there so long. They have a hard time accepting new people. One person in particular that was very rude to me. I wouldn't suggest working there, unless you can handle it. Night shift only half way cleans so its not in the best condition inside either. Under and behind things was gross.
Saturday after Thanksgiving on a busy highway they apparently were short staffed. Three of us ordered essentially the same #1. The woman working the cash register was friendly. The burgers took almost 25 mins and were not hot, barely warm. Fries were slightly warmer. The whole restaurant was waiting in food though it was not busy. Not sure what’s going on but supervision is needed.
I'm not very happy. 1st time in a very long time getting ice cream from here and it will be the last! When I got my small blizzard it looked really small. Smaller than it use to be. So I googled it. I honestly thought i got a mini it was so small. Well mini are 6 Oz small are supposed to be 12oz. So I was curious i measured my cup. 10oz! I was jipped! Money is tight these days so when you go out you expect to get what you paid for especially when price is high! Plus the drive thru person wasn't friendly at all. Also my blizzard didn't have a lid on it. It's drive thru not inside the store! Needs a lid! Then nothing was in a bag they handed everything to me separately. I got a Reese fluffernutter and didn't get mixed good at all! All the chocolate pieces and marshmallow was all at the bottom!
This place was super busy and the staff seemed overwhelmed. We waited patiently to order. One employee asked if we had been waited on and I responded "Not yet." She said nothing and turned around and walked away to work on more orders. My husband ordered the Peanut Buster Parfait. He started eating and mentioned the peanuts were really salty. Halfway through his face turned red and he coughed. He said it tasted like they dumped the bottom of the container with peanuts and layers of salt. It was so bad he went to talk to them. No one was at the counter except a group waiting to order. He threw it away and we left to get him some water. Very disappointing!
We ordered ice cream, when we got to the window, they informed us what we ordered was not there special we said we wanted. They changed it for us without a problem, except.. they threw away what they thought we ordered, opposed to upgrading the order then... Made us wait ten minutes after we kindly moved forward. ERM!!!
Went to eat at Dairy Queen, the lobby sign states lobby open 12-5 pm it’s currently 3:20 pm and all doors was locked forcing you to use drive through which is backed up. I have noticed this location is declining in customer service.
The manager - a really big lady - handled an awkward situation with one of her employees extremely unprofessionally. It was so unclassy and awkward for the customers. She also lied and told us it was state law that their bathrooms had to be closed even though all restaurants are allowed to be open and we had just come from one that had an open dining room and bathrooms. (After Covid-19) Definitely will not be returning.
The staff was over all friendly but lacked true empathy. When you order a cake online you expect when you go to pick up said cake, that it will atleast look something like the cake you ordered. But nope you get a zero effort generic cake with a generic flower that looks nothing like the cake you picked out of 20+ options. The only response was "we don't air brush but "(which was only 1 of several things that wasn't right) "it says Happy Birthday Momma like you requested." Offered no apology other than for my frustration, no apology for it not being close to right. Will not visit this location again for anything because if you don't care enough about a birthday cake thats ordered days in advance (which also means I could have been contacted and informed that they could not make the specified cake) then I have no faith that you care about your daily orders. Thus ending my many sub par visits to our city's only DQ.
Tonight was my 2nd visit in less than a week trying to get a simple butterfinger blizzard. The 1st time I ordered a butterfinger blizzard and got a nasty Snickerdoodle blizzard tonight I ordered a butterfinger blizzard and got a flippin ban split blizzard. For the friggin 5.00 it costs it should be right EVERY FLIPPING TIME!!!!! I WILL NOT GO BACK AGAIN
They didn't even hardly dip our cones ice creams melting all over them We couldn't even eat them they're melting too fast they even handed them to us like that ridiculous! I'm trying to find where I could post a picture
Tried to order a cake. The programming just ends. No prices at all on Anything but a $5 and $6 box. Tells every little detail about a soda burger and cakes GIVES ya all the ingredients... but left clueless to the prices at this not so fast food joint. What's the big secret? Lol
I went to this location to be told I couldn't have a piece of crispy chicken on my chicken bacon ranch, also told me I couldn't have a crispy chicken sandwich made like a chicken bacon ranch. Then the manager told me that corporate makes it to where you can't do that because the calorie count. I called corporate and found out that wasn't true. To beat it all the manager didn't even offer to make my sandwich after I politely complained. This location is a complete joke.
I just watched an employee sweep, wipe tables and take money. Never once washed her hands before handing food. Another employee wiped her nose with her hand then bagged a drive thru order. I asked for my money back... no way I'm eating here. No one handling food has gloves on.
We only go for the Blizzards, and I'm always disappointed. They are ALWAYS half melted and from time-to-time missing essential ingredients. You'd think they would try to perfect one of their most popular items. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
Half way through my blizzard and my cheek gets cut by a hard piece of plastic. Not sure if something fell in while the blizzard was being made or if it’s a piece of the machine but super disappointed. We love Dairy Queen but have had consistency issues at this location. After this I’m not sure we will be back.
Employee made my heath brownie cup and broke brownie in half and pushed it into ice cream without gloves.
Went there 8:30 pm Saturday night. Waited in drive thru over 20 minutes. Didn't know the rest of store closed at 3 pm. Clerk wasnt going to put my 3 blizzard's in a carryout tray. A real cluster! Will not return
My husband went to get the family some food and not one thing was as ordered even though he asked questions and verified when they repeated the order and extras. He found the mistakes and got one fixed at the pay window and got charged a new price. That was fine then was asked to pull up while they made it. This is fine as well. While waiting saw he wasnt charged for bacon . So when food came asked if it was made right....it was not. Then they refused to fix it unless he gave the wrong burgers back. Then when got home the salads were made wrong too and no dressing.
I watched a young man with long blond hair they called "Owen" play with his hair and blow in his hands then made my food. That is beyond not sanitary. Then my husband got a banana split that was the saddest I've ever seen. He bragged on it saying it was the best he had ever made.
Never got an order so was out $10 corporate didn't respond after talking to them, and their ice cream machine is down, the only thing decent they have was down Ha.
Went to the one in Johnson City yesterday and sat in the drive thru for 20 min get up to order and they had no cookie dough or brownie. They was out of everything. Very disappointing.
Dining room is closed so everyone must use drive-thru but the drive-thru is the slowest I've ever seen and has been for years. Would rather spend my money somewhere else and not wait 40 minutes for subpar food. Ice cream is good but I can get ice cream anywhere.
A waste of my time and money. I ordered a chocolate sundae and yet what I was given was a hot fudge sundae. Not the same thing not the same consistency and not what I asked or paid for. No clarification was asked at the time of placing my order and yet I was still given a hot fudge sundae instead of a chocolate sundae.
Went through drive thru. Line was kind of long so knew I would be waiting a bit. Ordered our food and when I get to the windows had to wait to pay then had to wait for my food which is not a big deal. Get the food and go home only to find half my order missing. I call the restaurant and they have a voicemail that has not been set up? So I call corporate and they get my info and tell me that they will contact the store and have someone get back with me to address my complaint. We'll it's been a week and I haven't heard back from anyone.
Consumers BEWARE! I would stay away from this facility. If you use any third party apps for pickup or delivery this DQ will markup menu prices averaging around 20.8%. I find it to be shady business practices and unfair to us. If we can't trust then to be transparent and honest, I certainty wouldn't trust their food. I would like to mention its not the companies like door dash marking up the prices, they break down their service fees. Its the franchise owners themselves setting the menu prices.
We went inside this store at 9:20pm. The entire store was filthy!! Every table and booth was dirty and/or sticky. The topping area behind the counter looked like a bomb went off! It was disgusting! I will not be eating here again! I don’t know how the health department has not shut them down at this point it was THAT dirty!!!
Sadly every time I go here they are slow & that’s okay to an extent. Tonight I ordered two completely different meals & get home both burgers are the same. I asked the woman who took my order at the beginning what came on the burger I ordered & double checked everything I said. I’m so aggravated that this has happened more than once. So tonight I don’t get to eat my dinner & money was wasted due to them choosing not to answer the phone when I called. I live on the lake, that is too far to just turn around & go back.
The cashier ( who took her name tag off as soon as we walked in) is incredibly rude. Visiting from nc and I asked very nicely for some of the crackers and she very rudely stated no those are for us employees with our soup. Here as a secret shopper. Every employee is on their phone and does NOT care about customer service. This restaurant is filthy and being serve safe certified myself this restaurant would NOT pass a health inspection. Stay far away they charged us for full meals and when brought to their attention they told us to leave and get over it.
Service is slow and lacking. It is more expensive than all other dq's in the area by a serious degree. Orders are frequently wrong as well as warm when they should be cold and cold when they should be hot. Takes roughly 15 minutes to get order without a line heavens forbid there is one. It is legitimately fast to drive 10 minutes to the next closest Dairy Queen get food there and drive back than to get an order at this establishment. Would not recommend.
They really need to update their website. I have ordered curbside twice now and waited over 15 minutes with no food. The first time, I just went inside and asked for my food. The second time, I called the store and told them I had been waiting a while. The lady who answered said "you're supposed to call us when you get here". I checked online and my receipt just had my car make and model and said "park in a curbside spot and your order will be brought out to you". I checked my confirmation email and it said the same thing. When I told the employee that, she said "it tells you on the app you have to call us". Again, I told her I don't have the app and I ordered online. Clearly their website is missing info about picking up your curbside order. Also, there is only one curbside parking spot.
I normally have a good experience at this location but this time, fries were missing out my meal and they forgot the sundae that was supposed to come with the meal. We didn’t realize until we were almost home (we live 20min away from everything) so we called, I was super polite, asked if we could come back for it another day, and the sweet girl I talked to put the manager on the phone. The manager was extremely rude, said she’d put my name in the book, got no apology for *their* mistake, and then hung up. Take accountability for your mistakes and maybe be a bit more polite and your reviews would improve.😊
I order a blizzard that has cookie dough I told them I do not want cookie dough can you substitute it with brownie bites. The manger was not even wanted us to change it to another ice cream . I had to pay different. Do not go here
The slowest drive-up in all mankind. Last time I was there, it took over 20 minutes to get through, even though there were only five cars ahead of me. I don't know what they're doing in there, but whatever it is, it's not working!
Absolutely disgusting. I was charged incorrectly and wrong items listed on receipt but didn’t stay long enough to find out. After paying, the guy working the window began making our ice cream. No gloves, dripping sweats, then proceeds to grab a rag from the counters, wipe his entire face and neck of sweat with it, and then throw it back on counter to proceed making my ice cream. I am no germaphobe but he did this over my food, over all the toppings, zero gloves or regard to sanitation. I drove off and left without a refund, without food, and disgusted. 100% will not be back.
