Tip: Stick with the Italian dishes; some found the steaks flavorless. Make a reservation, especially for Valentine's Day, as the place gets packed.

Opinions de Trattoria Romana Johnston Johnston
We had brunch to celebrate my son coming to visit from out of state. The atmosphere was cozy and casual. The restaurant is decorated very well with a comfortable space between tables. The service was very good and out waiter was very attentive to our needs. Everyone at the table wanted something different and everyone commented how good their food tasted. I would definitely attend brunch there again and I think we will try dinner as well. A great experience.
The food is excellent, the service is amazing. And, probably the best eggplant parm in RI. The only challenge is that the steaks are somewhat flavorless (but, why are you going to an Italian place for steaks!?). So, stick with the italian dishes and you can't go wrong!
Been to all of their locations. Food is good across all sites. Staff in Johnston is amazing.
I just love eating there, The weight staff is always friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is beautiful and of course the food is always delicious.
Today was our 3rd time in for lunch and as always it was amazing!! quite lunch time atmosphere, great server, and the food was amazing as expected. Highly recomend.
First time there. We had family reunion of sorts today. Food was wonderful. Kendrick was awesome and took some photos for us. We will be back!
Had a fantastic Valentine’s Day dinner here! Even though the place was packed, I was seated immediately upon checking in for my reservation. Our server was attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager also stopped by to check in, which was a nice touch. Great experience overall—I’d definitely return!
From the bar to the dining room can't say enough about the first rate service here. How many places can you go can where you remember how wonderful the host at the front was? Well, here you can. Really friendly folks with an elegant atmosphere. The Italian food is fantastic, especially the pasta plates. Perfect setting if you're celebrating something special.
My wife and I visited this restaurant once again this past Saturday nite. My wife had the stuffed chicken special and was very tasty. I had the chicken cacciatore that was well prepared with mushrooms, red & yellow pepppers and onions. The restaurant seating and ambience leads to a nice evening. Our waitress did an excellent job. Will definitely visit Trattoria Romma in Johnston in the future.
I loved my server. I believe his name was Kendrick. I don’t know how he memorized the amount of specials they had! They have homemade pasta which we got with the Rigatoni al Forno. The wedge salad was good. Pasta Fagiole was good. More like soup than some other places that usually make a thicker one. I loved the prosciutto that came with the Burrata board was great with the garlic bread. The prosciutto felt fresh (some other places make it kind of slimy) They have a parking lot and it’s clean inside.
Really enjoyed our experience. Server was exceptional. Food was very good with the exception of the fried squash blossom. It seemed like pancake batter and wasn’t crisp. But other than that everything was perfect. Would recommend and will be back.
I have always wanted to try this restaurant, and I will say...It was worth the wait. The Negronis that Corey made were perfect. The Veal Marsala was deliciously creamy and tasty. No.. I did not lick the plate, so luckily there was some freshly made warm bread to finish the job,. Skyler was very attentive, and all in all ...just a perfect afternoon lunch. We will be back......soon.
Excellent food and service. We were originally planning to go to Pat's Italian, which is close to Trattoria Romana. Pat's was supposed to be open until 9 and when we arrived at 8:35 they had locked the main entrance so we opened the entrance to the bar and were told they decided to close early...on a Friday. Really disappointed with them now but there is a silver lining. When heading back home we drove past Trattoria and although I had been to the Lincoln location I had not visited the Johnston one. I actually forgot it was even there but we decided to give it a shot. So happy we did! I had chicken sorrentino and my girlfriend had veal sorrentino. Both excellent. We also had an octopus appetizer that was a special. That was cooked perfectly! Our waiter was Travis and he was such a great waiter and representative of this excellent restaurant. Very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. We will request him when we go back. It was just a great experience all the way around. Better atmosphere too. We now have a new favorite 🇮🇹 restaurant!
Our party of seven dined here recently to celebrate a family birthday. The ambience was wonderful. Travis, our server, was excellent, being attentive without feeling intrusive. Our meals were delicious also. If I have one complaint it is that the menu states entrees are served with potato and vegetable. This is not the case. $32 for a pork chop and mashed potatoes? I think a small side of veg should be included.
While the service was good, I felt that the main courses could use some work. Everything was overly salty or bitter. But I do have to say that the desserts are fantastic. First of all, the service. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Even though she was serving multiple tables around the whole restaurant (and outside), I never felt abandoned by her. She was also knowledgeable and accommodating. I got the Veal Milanese, which was cooked too much (but not burnt). Its pairing with arugula and parmigiano-reggiano made everything so bitter and salty, since there was no sweetness in anything except the few tomatoes from the greens. It didn't help that the salty Veal had lemon on it. My companion, who had the chicken parm, had a similar reaction about the salt. Hers had sauce on it, which was decently prepared but had no basil and lacked good flavor. The real star of the show were the desserts. I had an affogato (espresso and gelato) and my companion had a tiramisu. Both were fantastic, I have to say. The espresso was very good and the gelato had a nice vanilla flavor. The tiramisu was wonderfully assembled with good cream, espresso powder, and light chocolate notes. Everything was wonderfully balanced and had good flavor. I think that a person who is easygoing with their eating preferences will enjoy this place. But those with higher standards will have a tough time enjoying the main courses.
First time there, Jessica, our waitress was amazing, She had the specials memorized, I do have to say I wish I had a paper copy it was too much to remember by the time she got to the end I didn't remember what the first two or three specials were. The food was average was really disappointed especially for the price. I had the steak which was cooked good but a little too chewy my garlic potatoes were fantastic. The drinks were strong but had barely any taste, my Washington apple Martini was bland which I have never had happen before. The food came out nice and hot. The place is very cute, but a bit on the tight side. Go to the bathroom before you get there, They only have one lady's room and one men's room. Don't have the bread pudding for dessert a very bland, and the ice cream they put on top which is vanilla but has no taste. The only thing I do recommend is the strawberry Romana dessert with Grand Marnier. Will I come back? Not with these prices.
Bartenders not friendly and not attentive at all. My friend and I were barely given the time of day while we were here throughout our entire dinner at the bar. Not sure what was happening but bartenders seemed overwhelmed and irritated. Not a fan. Food however was on point and delicious. Will go to different location in the future.
Our experience started out good but didn't end well. Although we mentioned that we did not want to be rushed, our main course was served incredibly fast. My drink, an Expresso Martini was excellent. Caesar salad, very good. Tortelloni Ripieni Primavera was like eating soup. The tortelloni was overcooked and soggy. The Pappardelle Alle Bolognese was also soupy. These two sauces should be somewhat firm and not watery. We did mention this to our server. I don't think we will dine there again. Very disappointing and not what we expected!
We were a party of 6 celebrating a 75th birthday. Kendrick was our server & he couldn't have been better. Not overbearing, attentive, knowledgeable. Three of us had chicken francaise & all agreed it had no flavor at all.
Dined at Johnston location Friday with my sister. I ordered the salmon with pink vodka sauce over pasta. The salmon was in small pieces and 90% fat. I’ve never had salmon so fatty in my life. The first piece I ate I wasn’t sure what it was. I thought it was a blown out piece of mushy pasta. The second one was just as fatty and I realized that was the salmon. After that I had to inspect each piece and try to remove the fat and salvage the salmon which was less than the fat I was removing. I didn’t complain but now I wish I did because when I got home I was severely sick from eating this dish. I woke up with the absolute worst acid reflux that felt like my throat was on fire. I never get acid reflux and I tried everything to get rid of it tums, milk, crackers. Nothing helped. I was sick the whole next day. I couldn’t eat and so uncomfortable with this acid in my throat the whole next day so bad it was painful. I had plans to go out the following night that I had to cancel due to being so sick from that dinner. I’m not sure if I had food poisoning but I’ve never been so sick from eating out in my life. Please don’t serve that awful salmon to anyone else in the future. I don’t wish this terrible burning throat and stomach on my worst enemy.
This place is absolutely beautiful inside. It was my first time here. I was floored with how beautifully it was decorated. That’s where the positive ended. We sat at the bar. There were only 2 other people at the bar when we first sat. A very sweet blonde girl with glasses greeted us and served our first round. She was personable and helpful. After that I’m assuming she was cut. We had a gruff inhospitable bartender after that. He worked service bar and took care of tables all while neglecting us at the bar. I asked about gluten free options and he informed me “that’s difficult here.” We were left without waters and with empty drinks wondering how, as the only people at the bar we were getting such horrible service. The gluten free chicken Marsala was flavorless and tough. I told him we were on a time constraint and he was super snarky and put the bill down “because you’re in such a rush.” I should have just waited to eat elsewhere. If the bartender had been the least bit apologetic or humble it would have been better. He was snooty and his delivery was awful. I have lived and dined all over the country and I will never eat here again. Stay away.
