A proper little gem – gluten free friendly and full of character We visited The Pig & Waffle shortly after it opened (last Saturday) and honestly, what a fantastic find. It’s a lovely independent bistro with real character, warm, welcoming and cosy, especially with the log burner going. It has that relaxed countryside feel but with proper attention to detail in both the food and service. The brunch plates were beautifully presented and full of flavour. smoked salmon, pouched eggs on sourdough was excellent, generous portions, perfectly cooked eggs and really fresh ingredients. The brioche sub with cured ham, pear and cheese was outstanding too. Everything felt thoughtfully put together rather than rushed. As a gluten free household, we were particularly impressed. There are genuinely good GF options (not just token alternatives), clearly marked on the menu. Even the cakes in the adjoining shop cater for gluten free, which is rare to find done properly. It makes such a difference when you feel catered for rather than accommodated. There’s also a small on-site car park (around 10 spaces), which is really convenient. Being newly opened, it already feels polished but still has that lovely “local hidden gem” vibe. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, excellent food and genuinely gluten free friendly. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend supporting this place, it’s a brilliant addition to the area.
Wow! Just had the best brunch here, food was divine, staff were ever so friendly. The atmosphere was very nice. Will definitely be back with more friends and, hopefully, try other menus soon. Thank you for a pleasurable visit.
Our first visit to the Pig & Waffle and we were really impressed. We had informed them beforehand that we were celebrating my son getting his GCSEs that day. The staff kindly decorated the table and even gave a congratulations card to him. My youngest daughter had the kid's breakfast waffle with bacon. She enjoyed most of it, leaving only the scrambled egg, which she's never been a fan of. My wife had the loaded bacon waffle fries which looked (and apparently tasted} terrific. My son and I had the tapas menu, 6 courses for the price of 5. The food was amazing. We had the rack of ribs, potata bravas, Spanish omelette, bread and olives, chorizo and calamari. There was huge amounts of food! It could easily have served another person. Lesson learned for next time! The staff were happy to box up the leftovers for us to take home. We finished with a dessert of a kid's chocolate brownie, a kid's biscoff sundae and a profiterole sundae. The kid's sundae was the same size as the adult's! My daughter couldn't finish all of it but said it was the best ice cream ever. The other desserts went down a treat too. Considering the amount that we ate and drank, we felt that the price was more than reasonable. We'll definitely come again!
Absolutely sublime, the food is out of this world. Authentic Spanish home cooking and to be greater by a wonderful Spanish member of staff. A little but of the Mediterranean in Northamptonshire. Value for money, quaint setting.
We’ve had several meals here now and it’s always delicious! Great vegetarian tapas, with lots of options. Delicious waffles for dessert too. Also been for brunch, again nice vegetarian options. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there’s a nice atmosphere.
What a fabulous brunch. The portions were huge and every element of the breakfast was outstanding. Just perfect (and I've tried a lot of breakfasts!!). Coffee was brilliant too and was also from a local supplier. Without doubt, the best breakfast in the county. Service was great and there was a great atmosphere. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Can't recommend enough. Fantastic food and service as well as a special treat for my daughter who's birthday it was. Update - Lemon Damn on tap! The food was absolutely amazing as always and the 7 tapas dishes for the price of 6 meant we over ordered but saw it more as a challenge 😂 Can you do B&B please so I never have to leave?
Today we had stopped by the Pig and Waffle Pub and we ordered our meal (as seen in the photos I shared) I have to say, the venue is cozy, the service is delightful, but the food is far beyond excellent!! I mean every single dish was absolutely delicious and excellently presented.. I will definitely add this venue to my personal Top Venue ..
What a lovely little place! Definitely recommend to book before going as can imagine it fills quickly, little pricey but worth it. Great taste great atmosphere lovely staff
Amazing service for a table of 13 on a Sunday, all the staff were very friendly and more than happy to help! We had a slight mistiming on our end and they were really helpful with us and looked after us. Food was wonderful and tasted as good as it looked. Definitely would recommend and visit again, thanks for the compliments we got from everyone too!
Transparency - I am already a fan of The Greedy Pig group who run three local establishments in the area! We took a trip to Pig and Waffle for TAPAS and simply wow. Not only was the environment amazing, the staff attentive, funny and friendly, but the food was truly scrumptious. Just keep in mind it is Tapas only (but they do skin on frittas aka chips for us mortals). TGPG just can't hit the nail on the head any better in their establishments and I just wish they would email me back as I would love to offer my services to them! lol #MEMDigital #JustSaying ;-p
Finally had an opportunity to visit here and it did not disappoint. We took a gamble and turned up after a dog walk and got the last table available. It was meant to be lunch, but the amount of food we received, this ended up being dinner! Lovely cosy vibe, tables are close together but it didn’t seem to matter. The dog was happy curled up by the inglenook. Food wise, the burger and chips were good, but the pièsta de résistance was the tapas. The pork belly was falling apart and I could’ve happily just ate this. The rabbit dish, worth noting, lovely flavour. We were given a chicken casserole with compliments and that was hearty and well seasoned. I had 5 tapas dishes to myself - way too much for one person - I reluctantly asked for a takeaway box as I didn’t want to waste any of it. 100% will be returning to try other menu items.
What a fab place - nestled amongst the period properties on the main road in Grafton Underwood. Friendly and attentive staff, a cosy atmosphere and a great (if a tad eccentric) menu. What's not to like? I had the surf and turf burger (pictured) - whilst my wife and daughter opted for one of the extensive 'brunch' choices. All were delicious! We'll deffo be returning to sample the tapas courses.....
Superb Spanish Tapas, cosy with excellent service. Really quaint setting. Order the Chorizo and the Patatas Bravas!
Wow the food was amazing and the stuff went beyond. Many thanks for the great night out
Very good food and service. A bit cramped and noisy inside, but the nice outside area is worth considering!
For tapas lovers and more amazing places for brunch or dinner
Fantastic place to go that was a old post office now converted into a bespoke little restaurant Breakfast amazing then for the afternoon and evening it’s the mezzai meal choice great for couples and family
Lovely place set in a quaint village in Northamptonshire. Great food and great service - well worth a visit.
We had such an amazing Tapas today for lunch… the service and food was incredible! I would truly recommend going:)
One of the nicest meals we've had in ages, amazing food, fab service and lovely place. Great with allergies.
Staff and food were amazing. Will be back for sure! Thank you
Lovely little place, great food, and beer from local brewery. It was very enjoyable and would definitely go again 🙂
On Sunday the 19th January I once again booked for my family and friends. This time I dragged my son up from Birmingham it was his 50th birthday. On arrival we were greeted by Charlie (who I believe is a new manager). He was very attentive and ensured that we all enjoyed our time with you, Anna who after several visits now knows my face which was nice. All the staff were very professional and I would recommend them highly. I believe this was my 10th visit, and once again look forward to my next visit.
A small unassuming cottage in this picturesque village is hiding a secret, the secret is excellent food and service. We had done our research in advance and knew we wanted the tapas menu (although I was tempted by the brunch menu it sounded delightful) we ordered a selection of 11 dishes to share between 3 of us, was it a little too much (possibly) but we didn't let any go to waste. Every single dish was tasty and well cooked, the pork belly bites were to die for, the lamb melted in your mouth. Amongst the Frito misto were some lovely mussels, and lovely crispy whitebait. Too many dishes to list but all were amazing. The dessert selection was also good, and we each enjoyed our choices, the cheese cake was the winner though, so good. Staff were all friendly, and service was quick and efficient. This is a place we will definitely return to, may brunch next time, but the tapas would be hard to ignore as there were more things I wanted to try.
We went here as a family of 5 tonight. The service was friendly, helpful and well timed and the food was delicious. We had about 3 tapas dishes each to share and at the end we all had a different top 3, from the belly pork, to the prawns. The waffles were also good and went down as well as the martinis. My only complaint is that I liked all the dishes and so ate far too much. Apparently they don't also serve willpower...
It was a faultless evening for us. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional and really reasonably priced. The wine choice was brilliant. They went to the added effort of arranging a birthday card to be on the table. I'll be back again, thank you for a wonderful evening.
Amazing location, service and food. Thank you so much for making it a great night. The card and desert were a lovely touch for Moira’s birthday. Will definitely be back soon with friends to try some of the other amazing dishes on offer. Absolute hidden gem. The bread and olives to start were also amazing 😋
We booked the Pig and Waffle for 2.30pm for 4 of us. We arrived a little earlier so the lady said we could sit outside which was ok as luckily it wasn’t raining and was quite a nice day, even the sun was out so was pleasant enough to be outside. There was a party of 14 and another of 10 so was very busy inside. A lovely polite girl called Nia came outside to offer us drinks while we waited so we ordered some drinks but said we would have them inside once we got seated. We waited outside for about 20 minutes and was told our table was ready. We got seated and checked the menus ready to order. Nia took our drinks order and I said we were ready to order our food. Nia said her work colleague would come and take the food order so we waited a little while to order our food. We placed our food order and had to wait quite some time before our food arrived. This isn’t anything negative as I could see they were short staffed. The 2 ladies on shift at the time were very good and kept everything together considering it was busy so credit to them. The food arrived lovely and hot and was excellent so thankyou to the chefs. A special thankyou to Nia who was so polite, calm and patient and who looked after us. We had a lovely time and look forward to visiting you again in the future
OMG. This is the first time we have been here, and what a gem of a place it is. It's in a great location, the bar and dining area has a lovely feel about it. The food and drink was absolutely delicious. And to top it off was the service from their new recruit. Charlie was very helpful, friendly and is an asset to the company. We will definitely be going back
It was my husbands birthday and I asked them in advance of the booking if they could make a Pina Colada for him despite the fact that they don't serve it on their menu. They got all the ingredients in ready for our booking and did just that for his special day; made him 2 pina coladas . Really chuffed with that! Food was great. Tapas was just the right amount (not too small, not too big). Lovely little quaint venue. Excellent service. Will be planning on coming back with a bigger group
Outstanding food, every plate was amazing. Staff are super lovely. Great pricing too. We have been to many places around London that don't do bbq rubs or belly pork this well. Fabulous countryside pub with amazing choice. Will be back. Again, and again, and again.
The quality of the food was excellent and every dish was tasty. The team there were super friendly and attentive. This was my first time there but it won’t be my last!
I had booked a table yesterday for a little birthday lunch with my mother and sister. And straight away we felt welcome and there was a lovely little birthday setting on our table (birthday sash and card). The waitresses were lovely and friendly and gave advice on the dishes we were ordering for Tapas. The food was cooked to a great standard and were all very tasty, especially the dessert waffles 😋. The restaurant is not huge but quaint and cozy and had a good cottagey feel. My family and I had a lovely time and we will be back again soon. Great work to the team and thanks again for the birthday card 🤗
Food delicious , staff wonderful , Will be back ❤️ Forgot to take photos but you won’t be disappointed
The service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant, making for a nice setting. However, I found the food did not justify the price. We ordered eight tapas dishes – some portions were very small. The pork belly was dry and tough to chew, and the octopus was also dry and no bigger than a finger. The Spanish tortilla was dry and cold, and a size of a hash brown. On the positive side, the patatas bravas were tasty, and the pork ribs were the highlight of the meal. The rest of the dishes were fine but nothing memorable. Alongside the food, we had one large bottle of sparkling water and two juices. The bill came to over £90, which I would have been happy to pay if the food had been top quality. Unfortunately, it gave the impression of being reheated rather than freshly prepared. A lovely venue overall, but in my view, the food needs to match the pricing.
We were travelling across this part of the world and I particularly found this place as a 'lunch stop'. I so wanted it to be brilliant. But it wasn't quite. It was nice. The people were friendly. The place looks great, and very welcoming. When you get inside, it's slightly quirky. Actually it's a lot quirky. But that's fine. It's unique and I quite admire that. But the food left me feeling a little let down, if I'm honest. And I think this is so fixable, so I hope this encourages rather than discourages the establishment. The menu is breakfasty brunchy, which is what appealed in the first place. There is also a tapas menu but we didn't try this, maybe we should have done. So my breakfast bap lacked finesse. The bacon was overdone and greasy, the sausage was average, the hash brown was greasy, the fried egg overdone so not really giving any runny yolk, combined with a huge bap, which was off-putting. I don't know how best to explain it. On the face of it, it should be delicious. But it wasn't. Sorry. I was left with the impression I'd just filled my arteries with oil. And that feeling took a few hours to dissipate, sadly for me. My colleague had the Benedict. Again, could be delicious. But just wasn't really. I think you're close to being great. But a 4/5 from me today.
The octopus was overcooked and the pork belly bites would benefit from being paired with a better sauce as the current one lacked depth and tasted like a basic jarred apple sauce. The rest of the dishes were very good and the service was excellent
Popped into this little gem in Grafton Underwood for a brunch and a drink. Great friendly service, lovely relaxing location. Large menu. Food very tasty . Prices for food and drink a little on the expensive side but generally expected for this type of establishment. Although this is some mileage from where we live in Northampton, would definitely visit again if in the area.
Great tapas and friendly staff, although a bit of a long wait on food.
Visited a fair few times now, for breakfast, for tapas, and just for a drink. Food is always spot on. Service is good. I expect to pay a bit for good food, however, the drink prices are getting a bit out of control. We visited for a quick drink the other day on our way home from walking the dog. Over £15 for a G&T and a lifeless pint🤔 it’s now put me off going for a drink.
I have been working in the area and have visited on numerous occasions over the past 18 months. Over that period the food has gone downhill a little - prices have increased substantially and portion sizes have reduced significantly (£10 for 2 small koftas, £11 for a single scotch egg...). The food is still good but I do feel they are cutting corners versus where they were 18 months ago, for that reason I'll now always choose to visit The Red Lion or Snooty Fox instead.
A great place with a unique twist on the food which is very refreshing. My only critique is that for the price, portion sizes of the non tapas dishes were a bit small. Staff were very good as well.
The food was nice but the service was really disappointing. We came for a special occasion and the welcome was cold and impersonal. I know hospitality is a very hard job but there were no smiles to be seen and everything was matter of fact/transactional unlike The Snooty Fox where it's more service with a smile and an injection of personality. There were a couple of etiquette issues - for example, if one person is paying for a table I personally don't think it's good service to announce the total to the whole table - the fact someone has presented their card after looking at the bill implies they are satisfied. The drinks are amped up - I had 'Aperol & All The Bits' but it was just a small, warm Aperol Spritz. Maybe it was just a bad day but unfortunately we won't rush to return.
Disappointing vist to Pig and Waffle today. Service was very slow. Food was good but I was disappointed by being given half a slice of toast with my Veggie breakfast. Come on! Half a slice!. They had run out of brown bread, bananas and pistacios and we were there as it opened at 11.45am. The menu seems to have been reduced but prices remain high. Didn't feel today it was up to the expected high quality so often enjoyed in the past. Particularly unhappy with them refusing to give us a voucher for the £25 difference in the cost of our meal and the gift voucher we were using to pay. Basically, we had to use it all at that visit or lose it.
Went here for brunch with a friend, he had a breakfast bap which he enjoyed, I had a vegan brunch, some of which was a little overcooked. Almost £50 for 2 juices, 2 brunches and 2 coffees seem a little excessive for what we had. Everything is getting so much more expensive though I guess.
Generally, the quality of the food was great. However, we came away feeling a bit ripped off. £8.95 for 5 small pieces of calamari! And the same for two tiny lamb koftes. I know it’s tapas, ie. small plates, but sadly the portions do not match the price tag. Also, they do an offer of 7 dishes for the price of 6 which isn’t advertised anywhere except on the toilet door. We had ordered 13 dishes and the waitress didn’t inform us of the offer at the time of ordering so we missed out on a free dish. That might have softened the blow a bit when the bill came. Desserts were better value for money, although the churros were dry and hard so didn’t seem like they were freshly made. All in all, just a bit disappointed. 🙁
The tapas section interested us and even though sounded a bit weird to have Spanish food in an English pub, we though we would give it a try. We were showed to a table, it was tiny and the surface very sticky, not a good start. We ordered 4 small tapas dishes and a side of chips, for the most part they were ok, the ribs very fatty and gristly, the rest were ok nothing special. We also ordered a couple of desserts one of them being a Galician almond tart which was meant to be decorated with with the StJames Cross but ......er....it just wasn't, and was actually quite bland to the point where I could hardly taste the almond. At one point a customer with a large dog walked past my table, I love dogs but thought it was not very hygienic, you would get that in a restaurant either. The service was ok, shame they ask for a tip when the food is so expensive for what it is. So a couple of drinks, 4 small tapas dishes with a side of chips, 2 desserts, 1 liqueur and a hot chocolate came to £75, restaurant prices for a pub.
Can't really recommend it. Was a long wait (almost an hour) for expensive food that didn't taste high quality. Wasn't awful either, just not worth the wait / price. Staff friendly enough. This is only the brunch menu though. We haven't tried dinner.
Really friendly staff can’t fault them. We ordered from the brunch menu. I’m sorry to say but it’s not worth the price at all, the food tasted bland and purely of frying oil. Which is a shame as we had read great things, maybe the dinner menu is better.
