Everything was way above expectations super clean polite staff.
I had a custom made sushi roll. The lady listened to what I wanted. The rice wasn't dried out. All ingredients were paired perfectly. That was the best sushi I've ever had. The price was great too. My daughter and I loved how quick they got it out as well.
For Kilgore, good place to go for a quick / hot lunch. Didn't really try anything I didn't like, plus the young lady was zipping around taking care of everyone's drinks with serious proficiency. I definitely would come back if I get a job in Kilgore again.

First time back since it was turned into a buffet. I ordered the quart of Wonton and Egg Drop Soup since I'm sick and needed something light and it hit the spot perfectly without making me sick further. My boyfriend got the Shrimp Lo Mein and said it was good. Order total was 20$, so not bad. Will return when I'm better for some glorious sushi!
I am super happy to make this review. When Lava in Kilgore first opened, they had a full menu with outstanding food and Sushi. Then, a few months later, they went to BUFFET ONLY. This was not so good. I went there last Saturday, Dec 27, 2025. THEY HAVE THE FULL MENU AGAIN. The meal was exceptional, and the service was great. So now there is a Buffett (for those that like it) and a full menu with Sushi Rolls that are great. I ordered the Shashimi Plate, which was the best I have ever had.
We love Lava! New Management! Tina, Breanna, and Chef always greet us with a smile! Food is always fresh amd best sushi I have ever had!

Meh its ok. Went at a slow time and food was edible... left over from lunch and thats very understandable.
Don't eat here unless you want your money stolen Me and some coworkers stopped by for lunch one day and the waitress decided to take it upon herself to tip herself when we had cash tried to take a $15 tip just for one of my guys And the food wasn't even that great
