Shoutout to Jessica for always being the best server!!! All of the staff is amazing and also accommodates, but Jess we love you. ♥️
First time experience. Limited parking but the food was very good & plentiful & the service was very friendly. Will definitely go back!
This is one of the few places I will eat at. I know the food is fresh, the kitchen is clean and I always enjoy my meal! The staff is great as well!!
Great food. The portions were big, The Fries were perfect, and I don't say that easily. burger was good. Service was friendly attentive and welcoming. I would definitely go back.
Excellent homemade hash, great burgers (specially the bison burger), attentive personable wait staff who know the menu and make excellent suggestions. Strongly recommend eating here. Order off nenu and get the eggs Benedict with pastrami instead of Canadian bacon. Out of this world!!!
The food was awesome and the service was great! Be prepared for a lot of food!! If you have a small stomach you'll have enough to share and it's good
I love this diner everything I've had has always been fresh and delicious. Milkshakes are great and staff are friendly! Happy to have such an awesome diner right down the road.
I love this place. Been coming here for years now. Food is always fresh, cooked the way you want it and comes quickly. Waiters and waitresses are professional and pleasant. Feels like part of the community.
Family feeling. Friendly staff welcoming all from the moment we go through the door (or call in an order to go). The salmon is a favorite with the spinach and onions side. Accommodated my request for avocado slices as well as a horseradish sauce drizzle. Now my signature dish. NY style cheesecake is rich enough to share or i get my own and have plenty to take home, along with the half serving of salmon entree. A delightful surprise the next day. Soups always flavorful and filling. Great eat in or take out. Friends I brought there were also delighted.
They were very kind to my hectic family and served a lot of great dishes to all of us! My burger was extremely underwhelming so I would not recommend that dish to any newcomers. Otherwise, excellent fries, great Reubens and their pea soup was to die for!
Extremely friendly service. Great diner classics and some unexpected dishes as well!
I can't think of a reason to give this place any less than 5 stars. It has the classic diner experience, inside and out. It has that classic diner aroma. The menu was huge; you can get anything here. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and affordable. I'll definitely be back!
Hands down one of the top 3 diners I've eaten at in the area. Very consistent quality of food slight variance in flavors depending on whose cooking but always delicious. Prices are average.
Great food. Nice people.
The place is fabulous! The food is fantastic, plentiful, and each plate like a picture! The place is clean, cozy, old world diner eatery, and the staff, friendly, and prompt! We are new to the area, and definitely plan on going back! We just stumbled on it by chance, and so glad we did! A must with the right prices! Try the Gold Cadillac Burger!! Won’t be disappointed! Nancy and Travis
I've been eating there for a while. I door dashed a burger with just pickles and onions. To say they understood the assignment is an understatement. They gave me so many delicious pickles and onions that I had enough for my chili fries. Those diner workers. Everyone there deserve raises.
AC was not working but our waitress and food made up for it. She was wonderful and my pancakes were absolutely perfect! Thank you!
I've been to quite a few diners since moving up to Ulster county back in later 2021, but this diner is one that makes you feel like you're one of the family. I'm usually in here for breakfast and can not think of a better way to start off my day than with good food and wonderful servers like Blondie!
When did pretty late with friends and the waitress was super accommodating to our party of 8 Told us not to rush. Was super accommodating and nice. Got a happy waitress (that time of year) My food as well as my friend's was good. We kinda go weekly You should too!
Shout out to our server Kayla H who did a great job on customer service. She was very polite and the food came out within a reasonable time. The coleslaw was delicious 😋
A lovely experience!! I came here with my mom after a rail trail walk, and we were both very satisfied. My mom got a salad special, and I got the Cobb. Both were very fresh, flavorful, and generously topped with chicken and fixins’. They could have definitely been split if you wanted a second meal, but shut up we were hungry. Our waitress was attentive, but not overbearing, and super personable. Prices were very reasonable. A great quick bite. Would def recommend. :)
Ordered for the first time and I will definitely be making it a regular thing. Their expansive menu has everything under the sun and the quality of the food, packaging, and customer service is incredible. Very friendly staff and quick cook time so I had no complaints. I am very picky about breakfast plates but Broadway Lights Diner hit a complete home run with my order. Thank you very much! See you soon!
I enjoyed the diner and the food. I had a good time.
Great food, wonderful staff, good prices.. the chocolate malt shake was amaaaziinnggg. *edit May 2022* Been back several times- still awesome food and great staff. Our server Jess is attentive and friendly, and food still amazing. French fries perfection- crispy on the outside, clouds on the inside..
We were looking for a quick place to grab dinner after riding the Polar Express with our daughter, son in law and 2 grand babies. We stopped here because it was close. It turned out to be a great decision! The waitress was kind as well as helpful, and our food was served quickly. We were very happy with our meals and had more than we could eat! What a pleasant surprise for a quick bite!
What a great experience was had at the Broadway lights diner. Blonde our waitress was energetic and on point ☝️. Soups are amazing as well has the lasagna I devoured. Highly recommended
The service was great. Our breakfast was delicious! Good ol' homefries were perfect. I forgot how good diners can be. Everything was spotless. We will definitely stop again!
Very friendly able to accommodate gluten allergies safely!! Service is a delight!
A lovely place with kind staff, the food was plenty and delicious.
Second time here. Food was great both times from the loaded freshly made soups to the various sandwiches we ordered. Even the coleslaw was creamy and delicious!
A cozy neat diner with good food & pleasant employees. It's exactly what you want from a diner late in the evening
Recently my family just moved to the area (after my husband was relocated here) we have not had the best experiences at any of the diners in the area.. however the other night was a different story.. Our server, Blondie A..[according to our receipt], was an absolute gem. she offered great recommendations, and really cared about our feedback. It was just her alone the in the restaurant ( she didn’t miss a beat answering phones, sitting the door, cashing people out) but as my family sat there and watched her in action ….We don’t think there wasn’t anybody that came thru the doors she didn’t know and or didn’t make an attempt to make them feel at home! The food she recommend was good but it was her that made it amazing. I hope this establishment knows they have an amazing server who deserves a pat on the back. Blondie A, we will be back looking for you! And thank you for making us feel like part of this area for the first time since our move!!! 👏
I went on a whim looking for dinner and would definitely go again. The food was tasty and excellent value, the portions were very generous. Most noticeably the staff were incredibly attentive and lovely. A very enjoyable dinner.
Amazing breakfast here. We had a lovely server who recommended the French toast in the platter and it is. It's one of the best French toast I've ever had, eggs are eggs, but the bacon was perfectly cooked, crispy enough to crunch but still have some chew. I'm sure could've asked for more if you wanted. Star of the meal was the home fries. While they needed some more seasoning, they're cooked amazingly well for perfect crunchy to softness factor. Big fan, I'll go back next time I'm in town.
Broadway Lights is my home away from home! The food is always delicious, consistent, and comforting, just what I need every time I visit. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family. I've been coming here for years, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. If you're looking for a place with great food and even better people, this is it!
Well, vacationing in New York and driving around to all the different towns, we decided to stop and have a bite to eat, the look of the diner is what drew me to it. This is like a true diner, not a restaurant built to mimic one! Upon entering, you can tell the age of the restaurants, and again, I really enjoyed the aesthetic, you can tell they had a lot of regulars, and they had a lot of phone orders coming in for pick up. They also seem to be locals. Calling in, I could tell by the conversation as our seats were located right next to the phone. we were greeted as we went in, and our server was extremely attentive. The menu is absolutely huge, they offer so much. It was kind of hard to decide because I just wanted to order everything. I myself decided to go with the classic BLT, it did not disappoint. The bacon was thick and cooked perfectly and there was a lot of it, more bacon than anything, and I am not complaining, the lettuce was crisp and fresh, and the tomato was also firm and Fresh. My son ordered the breakfast pancakes. It came in a stack of three, and they were huge. He was very pleased with them. Our youngest ordered a grilled cheese. It was cooked perfectly, and their bread choice was not as thick as a Texas toast, but thicker than a standard loaf slice. One child ordered a classic cheeseburger, he said that it was cooked to a perfect medium, and the vegetables were just as fresh as the ones on my BLT. My wife is vegan and it was really awesome to see that they offered a beyond burger patty, so that is what she ordered, typically places overcook those, but not this place, you can tell that the Chef definitely knew what they were doing, and they executed all of our dishes perfectly. Given The Chance we would definitely return to this diner .
Great local dinner in the classic 90s way. Food was great tasting, home made and filling. The waitress treated you like a friend and kept asking to refill your drinks. Plenty of parking. Kid friendly. Lots of people enjoying a leisurely breakfast/lunch. Would recommend the home made cornedbeef hash and some eggs. This place is a gem in an area if town that is revitalizing.
Excellent service and great food. The staff seem to be local and very friendly.
I wanted to give a big shout out to the diner and their staff for doing a fantastic job while serving people on Christmas Day. They were the only place open and it was jammed packed. We especially want to thank our server- we think her name was Jennie, very kind hearted and efficient while keeping us up to date about the kitchen delays. When our food did arrive, it was worth the wait.
My step daughter found this place three door dash and it’s been remarkable every single time. I tried the turkey club on rye add onion with fries and everything was so delicious. Tonight I tried the French dip sandwich with onion rings and it was perfect. The beef was cut perfect. Don’t get me started on the cheesecake! It’s light and fluffy, they don’t make it with crust and usually that’s my fave part but that doesn’t stop me from getting the cheesecake every time! Definitely 10/10 recommend!
My fiancé and I came here before going on a hike in the Catskills. We were both famished, and Broadway Lights Diner & Cafe did not disappoint! I had the Stuffed French Toast with cream cheese & topped with strawberries. I also had an egg cream. Both were amazing and filled my stomach up quickly. My fiancé had the Country Skillet, which he loved. In addition, our server was extremely kind. Anyone in the Kingston area should definitely check them out and give them your business!
Very nice service, good portions and price, great atmosphere.
I’ve lived in Kingston just about my whole life and this diner has always been my go to when I want a hot meal. I’ve become a fan of their steak and cheese sub with fries, fills me up and then some. I’ve used the delivery service that is available. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. Thank you for the great food and service ☺️ Ohhhh and the Oreo cheesecake and carrot cake amazzzxiinnnggggh!!
Was in Kingston from Vancouver to do a job. This place stood out and I had to check it out. Super cool 50s diner. Massive menu with basically anything you can think of on it. Went here twice while I was in town and the food was amazing. If I lived here I would be a regular for sure. If I ever come back to Kingston this will be my first stop to get food!
Love the the atmosphere with amazing service . The food is great and delivery come fast and hot! Hats off to this family business. My favorite for breakfast and dinner for decades.
Dad and I go to lunch every week for four years. Why its taken us so long to make it to Broadway Lights Diner, I do not know. As we often do, we each got a cup of soup and split a sandwich. Let me tell ya, the cup of soup was HUGE. It was the size of a bowl everywhere else. (We both had leftovers.) I got the Beef Barley, one of my favs. This had a rich brown beefy broth, not that orange colored tomato-based abomination that is often panned off as beef broth. Dad chose the Cream of Spinach which he said he enjoyed. When I tried the bit that was left over, I found it just a tad too salty. We split a turkey club. It was a B-E-A-U-T-Y! The toast was toasted to perfection, not pale, like I've experienced elsewhere. The turkey was abundant, sliced to the perfect thickness, moist not too dry. The veggies were fresh and proportionate to the rest of the sandwich. The bacon was neither too soft nor too hard. Usually, I have to ask for extra mayo on the side, but here there was a sufficient and not overbearing amount. We each got a fountain drink - me Pepsi and him whatever the clear one is for Pepsi. The check came to $32. That's about what we expect to pay these days for lunch for the two of us. I highly suggest that you give it a try.
Food here is always fresh and made with care. delicious never disappointed.
Amazing family restaurant.. Where service is at the top of the menu...price are more than fair...with generous portions......very clean a dinner...
Broadway Lights is a staple in the Kingston area. Leaving NY 20+ years ago I always make it a priority to stop in for a meal. The food is aways prepared perfectly and there is always plenty of it. The staff continues to be warm ans welcoming. No matter when you stop in the diner is clean and ready to take care of you. Living in the mid-west we do not have diners that are not franchise approved, so I truly miss great places like this. Continue the great customer service and making that wonderful food!!
Great local diner where you can get to know the super nice staff. I recommend the corned beef hash and other great breakfast selections. There’s a lot of visual activity to look at out the windows instead of the typical parking lot view of other places. You really get a sense of local vibes being here. We find ourselves coming back time and again.
Everything a local diner should be! Generous portions, friendly and attentive wait staff, and delicious entrees. I highly recommend a visit if you're looking for some terrific diner food with a homemade feel.
Always a must stop as our halfway point to lake George. Great portion sizes. Excellent selections on menu. very friendly and kind servers. Never had a problem making a substitution for my selection.
Classic diner vibe with a vast array of options. My wife and I are always happy ordering pick up when we’re too tired to cook. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can’t go wrong. The staff is responsive and friendly.
I've eaten there a couple of times after doing business in downtown Kingston: I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was pleasant. I also noticed that it looked and smelled clean. The portions are very generous. I will return.
Not only is the diner located close to home, the food is very good. I frequent the establishment very often. I love when "Blondie" is working. She adds a lively atmosphere that welcoming. I love going to places where I feel that I'm a part of. Made so friends with some of the other regulars.
Excellent! Had the gyro while the rest of my party had the cheeseburger and club sandwich. Food was very reasonable and tasty. The gyro was actually better than what I ate when I visited Greece! Service was super attentive and our server (Destiny) was so helpful and sweet. Would be back again! Visit this place if you can- the menu is massive and they do not miss.
Broadway Lights Diner on Broadway in Kingston is definitely worth a stop in. The menu is huge and so are the serving sizes. The food is not bland. They are not afraid to put some seasonings into the dishes. One of my favorites is the CUBAN PANNINI. Having lived twenty years in South Florida, I've had my share of Cuban Sandwiches......this one ranks up there with some of the best I've had in South Miami and Key West. Great Club Sandwiches with perfectly Golden French Fries....and the Onion Rings.........I totally Crave Those Rings!!!! Give them a try....You won't be disappointed.
I have been frequenting this establishment for years. You cannot go wrong with a diner just based on the variety of food. I have ordered many things and have never been disappointed. The waite staff are friendly and concise.
Excellent house made corned beef hash, fair prices. Good place to get a good solid meal Just had a Cobb salad, best salad in Kingston. Always good food, great service
The food was decent. Service was great! My only complaint is the Fish and Chips dinner special is misleading because it doesn’t actually come with fries. I even asked the waitress if they forgot my fries and she said no, the fish and chips dinner special doesn’t come with them. 🤔
It's been years since I've been here. A few of my wife's friends decided to eat breakfast here and everyone enjoyed their food. The waiter was kind and the food didn't take long. We would definitely come again and try dinner
It's a jukebox vibe, clean and quaint diner feel. Order their sausage link. After trying it for the first time, I wished that I had ordered a plate of them and made myself a sandwich. Yum!
Diner with plenty of options. Large portions.
Gluten-free pancakes were lovely. A little bit sweet for me but certainly worth the cheat. Their house sausage are pretty damn good too. Never felt so full.
My best friend took me out to eat at Broadway Lights Diner located in Kingston, NY. We were greeted without even fully entering & were seated right away. Waitress came right behind the greeter taking our order. Food & drinks were delicious, unfortunately our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because we couldn't finish eating all the food. Oh & the bathroom was clean & smelled clean as well. I'm definitely going to try going again one day & I would highly recommend anyone going as well.
I really like it here most of the time, but today I wasn’t feeling well but was starving. Ordered a turkey sandwich, they served it to me dry, and the waitress forgot about me and I kept having to get her attention to get more to drink. She wasn’t busy either.
Young gentleman that served us was prompt and courteous. Food was fair to good and came out quickly. It's a diner in the middle of Kingston says all you need to know about the atmosphere. I would certainly not hesitate to go again.
Went for lunch and was seated right away. Service and atmosphere were everything you'd want from a diner. Stacy was charming and fast as lightning. The restrooms were very clean and the seats were comfortable. I ordered a short stack of French toast and the Benedict hash. I really enjoyed the hash part which was buried under the beautifully poached egg and unfortunately subpar hollandaise. The corned beef hash was flavorful and crispy with just the right amount of fat and the poached egg was made perfectly to temperature. The hollandaise was underwhelming and bland, there wasn't a strong enough presence of vinegar and it was also a bit watery. The English muffin was also a bit soggy, likely from the watery hollandaise, and the parts that I liked were hard to finish because the sauce covered most of the plate. The potatoes were also a bit dry and flavorless but that could be fixed with a sprinkle of table salt and a touch of butter. The French toast was everything I look for in a basic, frill-less, toast. It was fluffy and had light notes of cinnamon and vanilla. My biggest suggestion is a lot can probably be solved by using real butter. If the kitchen is using the same spread that was served on the table, you're getting more water than fat. Which could explain the separation in the sauce and the dryness of the potatoes. All- in-all, it was good.
The server had excellent service skills. No problem there. Like most diners can, this diner cannot substitute toast for a pancake without a $3 upcharge. THREE DOLLARS. Ridiculous. The Spanish sauce is awful. Everything else was good, but the Spanish sauce is not really Spanish, it’s just tomato paste with tomatoes in it. You can’t taste anything else other than the overpowering amount of tomatoes. I couldn’t tell I was eating an omelette. The only reason I didn’t abandon the omelette and eat somewhere else is the fact I hadn’t eaten in twelve hours.
Our friends were seated 15 minutes after us, but got their food within minutes. After waiting a good half hour or so, we finally received the explanation that our check was skipped, and other orders were fulfilled before ours. Our waitress was really nice, and it wasn't her fault, but it was frustrating. The restaurant did very kindly offer us a free dessert, and the food was extremely good.
Was disappointed on how dirty the diner was. Broadway Lights was always my hometown favorite and was excited to return after 16 years making this my first stop immediately when I got off the thruway. Walking in was like stepping back in time which at first I liked the nostalgia; however, it seems it had a lot of nostalgic dirt and grime as well. The food itself was ok. The service was good. I just can't get past the grungy feeling in there.
Eat here often, best diner in town Food is consistently good, waitstaff is great. Men’s room is consistently gross. Tonight urinal not working, other toilets filthy as usual Use bathroom before you go and bring hand wipes
My last trip to diner was not so good I had a cheeseburger which is. Normally a good item at a diner not this time was cold and the burger was kinda soft and didn't taste very good However I've ordered from there before and had very good food and I've eaten there before and it was good so anyone can have a bad day and the service was still very good but it also smelled like pinesol in there which is good because they were cleaning but not when people are eating that smell gets in your nose and everything taste like pinesol but I still don't count them out was a bad trip next time could be different
My boyfriend and I had the meatloaf. I had mac and cheese we both had. Clam chowder Manhattan clam chowder. He had macaroni salad and we also had an appetizer of loaded potato skins. The appetizer was excellent. The mac and cheese and the spinach side that I had was excellent. The meatloaf, not so much. He was sick within about 3 hours. Plus the wedges forgot my spinach and I had to ask for it. Other than that, the service was excellent
The service here gave a very warm welcome and got us situated quickly, and had a very extensive menu of items. The place was also decorated very nicely for the holidays. The food was okay, but nothing that I would call home to tell about, just felt very plain, and the eggs did not taste as they normally do. For what we needed as a quick bite in town, it was enjoyable enough.
I was really surprised when I got my food on 3/27/24 and saw the the portions are way smaller the when I order last which was like 3 months ago I got the double Texas burger will mash potatoes and another side order of mashed potatoes the portions have never been this small and it cost $28 the menu said 15.95 and it really cost me 18.95 and said 4.50 for.the side of potatoes and was chatger 5.50 for 2 scoops of mashed potatoes the last I oder 3 months ago I got 2 double Texas burger with potatoes it cost 36 that was with taxes and delivery so something isn't right with that thats messed up smh and it's sad because they were really good but last night was ridiculous
The food quality is inconsistent. Sometimes I'll get a good meals but than I'll get a really bad one. The wait staff is friendly and works hard. The atmosphere is great and they have nice seating. It looks clean at first glance but if you look around you see some flaws. It's not dirty but it's on Broadway, the hot-spot for peat problems. The owners seem nice and the parking situation is good. Breakfast there Ix good any other meal is on and off. They have great chocolate milk there when it's fresh, but they have given me spoiled chocolate milk before.... It was nasty. The prices are kinda high for what you are getting. The menu is nice and full. I guess the biggest problems I have is that it's inconsistent and over priced. I would recommend you try it for yourself it's not bad for breakfast. But If you want a good diner experience go to Dietz stadium diner, don't listen to people who say go to kings valley diner. Kvd is not that good and Dietz is the best diner around.
Got seated quickly. The waitress came over took our drink order then disappeared for 15 minutes. Finally, the coffee and drinks arrived to garbage, breakfast order and again 15 minutes she comes back. I ordered eggs over easy. The eggs were hard. The yolk was solid. She got me another set of eggs rather quickly. I'd ask for more coffee. Other than that, the atmosphere is nice. Service was lacking. The food could have been better. It's breakfast dudes. What are you doing?
This was bs! Took too long for food! Food wasn't even good! Just bs! Stay away!
Upon entering, you'll notice tons of street construction going on. The service wasn't the greatest especially for breakfast. I ordered a short stack of pancakes, bacon, eggs. The only thing that was eaten was the 3 stripes of bacon. There were dish bins on the floor catching water which was leaking from the ceiling. Staff had to walk over thebins to enter the beverage area and customers had to walk over them in order to use the restroom. This wasn't a good experience for me, hopefully you'll have a better experience if you go.
Although I gave gone to Broadway Lights and been somewhat satisfied and may have given them a better review, I am left with a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended) when it comes to their delivery. I suggest they stop delivering and pay attention to their diner instead. I have ordered twice for delivery. First time the food was delivered cold and I had to put it in oven to redo it. A little annoying since they are located right up the street and the food doesn't taste as good reheated. Then Saturday, I decided to give them a second try. I called for a simple hamburger and fries. Was given by the person who answered the phone to the owner. The hamburger and fries was $9.95 which was overpriced to begin with but I had a death in the family, was not up to cooking so was willing to pay it. The owner informed me they had a $15.00 minimum for delivery and a delivery charge of $1.50. If you didn't want to deliver then why make excuses? You did not have those charges on the cold food you delivered me prior to this order. This order would have. brought that order way past $26.00 I will never pay that much for dinner here when there are so many wonderful restaurants in town that have way better food which I did. I ended up with a hot Italian meal delivered from Dibellas Restaurant (not some crappy diner) for $15.00. Needless to say, Broadway Lights will never see me for delivery nor will I ever go to the diner again. I will let everyone know in this large building how they attempted to rip me off without success.
Sad to report that after many many years of coming here, we had a bad experience tonight (4/29/17). It was primarily the service. My review isn't being submitted because of the experience with the server. Yes, it was bad service from start to finish but I can forgive a new server making mistakes even if it means I watch my spouse eat their entire meal before I finally get mine. My decision to provide a review is because the manager never acknowledged the problem and even chastised ME when I mentioned it to her at the register. When I managed restaurants and this happened, our policy was to always go to the table and apologize to the customer, offer some kind discount or a free dessert, encourage the server to make an extra effort, and check back on the table yourself towards the end of their meal. The goal was to see if you could still have the customer leave with a smile and not go home and write a bad review on Google.
I drive for medical transportation and I ordered from here frequently and the food was always ok. Today I go here, and I guess the owner or boss has a problem with my clients I dropped off and called the police on us saying “this is private property I’m calling the police” like I didn’t order my food 20 minutes before even pulling into the establishment. I felt so uncomfortable and racially profiled I abandoned my food because I didn’t trust it wasn’t going to be tarnished and I’m 6 months pregnant. Will NEVER order from here again and if you’re a person of color you shouldn’t support this establishment one bit
Growing up in the area this was a well established prime dining experience each time no matter if we dined in or had delivery. The last several years the quality of food and service has turned into a complete nightmare. The owner and staff can be rude and condescending and food leaves much to be desired. It’s a shame we no longer want to give them our business ...but hey to them the customer is never right so I’m sure they won’t miss out.
I just ate here recently this week. I ordered a cheese burger cooked medium w/ fries. The meal, at least at that point, seemed to be fine. What wasn't fine was about an hour after my meal I started having diarrhea and then for the rest of my evening I was throwing up uncontrollably, I couldn't keep any fluids down and at one point had a body temperature of 95 (which is borderline hypothermia) from all the fluids I had lost. I was food poisoned. I was severely food poisoned. I felt fine all day and hadn't eaten anything but a muffin and a coffee for breakfast about 5 or 6 hours before having lunch at the diner. I called to let them know I got sick and they did not offer any useful information. They swore they get their ingredients ordered regularly and that the cook has been there for 20 years and that they wash their produce. Well, some step slipped someones mind that day. Be it not washing the produce, cross contamination or whatever else you can think of, I ate at this establishment and got extremely severe food poisoning. I would not recommend eating here as even though it could have been an accident on someones part, it's an accident that has cost me missing two days of work and two (going on three days) of being bed-ridden. "Accidents" have extremely dire consequences when it comes to serving food and bc filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau costs you a song and a dance, I'm left with writing this review in the hopes that someone reads it and avoids another painful experience like mine.
They need a new cook back there. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese with grilled onions. The first time the waitress brought it over she warned me that the onions weren't cooked, they were raw onions and purple not yellow. She was very nice so I was too but asked for them to get cooked. She takes the order back. 5-10 minutes later she returns with an egg on a roll with cooked onions but now no bacon or cheese lol so I call her back over, and she again takes my sandwich. Finally 3rd times a charm, I got my bacon egg and cheese with somewhat grilled onions. Definitely will not be going back there ever again. Also my friend ordered soup and it was literally cold...had to send that back too. Kings valley is way better.
Thanksgiving! I am a single mother who spent 16 hours at work with barely a bite to eat. End of shift I ordered mild chicken wings and fries. All I wanted to do was eat. Not only was my sauce a sweet mango flavored but you can tell that I got wings that were cooked and sat under a heat lamps for probably 2 days straight. The wings were so hard my dog couldn’t even eat it. My entire order went in the garbage and I went to bed hungry. Never again will I order food from there
Our experience here was really bad. We had a very long wait (we were seated quickly, but it took a long time for the waitstaff to come over and our food took a very long time to come - and no, they were not busy) and none of the food we got was good. The burger was inedible (so greasy that the bun was soaked with grease and falling apart), half of the fries on both plates were uncooked. We got 4 different meals and not a single one was good. All around just really disappointed. Will not be returning and do not recommend.
The unrelenting, rude and catty behavior witnessed as a customer here today was horrible. My family and I came here today for breakfast and though we were sat several tables away, the obvious bullying of another waitress could be clearly overheard. Two women that work there were yelling at one woman (our waitress) because there was a discrepancy in communication. English is her second language and had zero trouble communicating with us and yet the two women used this as a reason to act like rude school girls picking on a colleague. It was actually gross to do- and in front customers. My family and I were beside ourselves. Our waitress- I believe her name was Christalla served us in such a warm and kind manner. Helpful, on top of things and put together so nicely even with a lovely Christmas sweater. The women making fun of her looked like they had just rolled out of bed, couldn’t run a comb through their hair (one of them in particular) and were dressed in their dirty pajamas. They should try going to another country, learning a new language and building a life instead of putting someone down. My 8 year old daughter was so upset hearing what was going on that she drew our waitress a picture to gift her and wanted me to say something to the other women but honestly I didn’t want them to then take it out on her more. I’ve been coming here since high school so 15 years or so. I really hope that this family run business takes this into account and doesn’t encourage that kind of work environment.
I drove there to eat but once I glanced around the neighborhood, I thought it wise not to so I went elsewhere. A truly undesirebale part of Kingston.
Kingston I’ve been coming to this diner in Kingston for a long time, and over the years, it’s become clear to me that there’s something off about the way black patrons are treated. While the food can be decent, the atmosphere and the service leave a lot to be desired—especially when it comes to how black people are treated. I was there recently and witnessed something that made me question whether my past experiences were just me being overly sensitive. An older Black man, probably in his 70s, came in with his granddaughter. He wasn’t bothering anyone, just playing his numbers like so many people do. But the way the waitress treated him was nothing short of disrespectful. She made a big deal about how he kept going up to the counter to place his lottery numbers, saying, “I’m not going to keep doing this, the lottery’s closed, I’m busy.” The diner wasn’t even busy—there were maybe five people in there, and the attitude was downright nasty. I was with my mother the second time I visited, and it was the same behavior—hostile and dismissive. To be clear, I’m a Black woman, and I’ve always noticed the difference in the way I’m treated at this diner compared to others. It’s hard not to feel like we’re being singled out, and quite frankly, it’s disheartening. There’s only so much one can tolerate before realizing this place is long overdue for a boycott. I don’t care how many Black people they have working there; that doesn’t erase the way their customers are treated. It’s a shame, but I can’t support a business that shows such blatant disrespect. It’s time for a change, and I refuse to be part of it any longer. I hope this review serves as a reminder that we need to hold businesses accountable, and the way they treat their customers—regardless of race—matters. There are too many other great places to support that actually value their patrons.
