Wonderful, quaint place with fresh delicious food! We shared the Fried Dumplings, House Fried Rice and Lemon Chicken. Lots of flavor, generous portions just enough for two (maybe 3 but we were hungry... hahaha) Definitely will be back when in La Jolla... just a short walk from our favorite hotel too.
This restuarant has been here for decades now. Been on the front page of the union tribute in 1996. The food is great honestly my Chinese Grandfather would've loved it. The style, is traditional, waitresses are very servicable. I loved it 😁👍
Mongolian beef 10/10. Service quick and polite. Quiet atmosphere to read a good book and chow.
This is the best Chinese food I have had in so long, this is better than catfish fried tacos in Mexico right? 🤷 Che Che maa maa che che ja ja
Food was delicious. Waitress was kind and patient as she made our customization to the food order. Waiting time was reasonable. The space was clean and decent sized. We are so thankful to them for serving us food on the Thanksgiving day afternoon when I and friends were starving and all other restaurants nearby were closed 😕 Just tipping wasn't enough so I couldn't stop myself from writing this review as a note of thanks to the "China Chef".
I absolutely love their salt and pepper shrimp! It is my favorite thing on the menu. You are able to control the level of spice in your dish if you are someone who doesn’t like spicy food. I get it the way they make it regularly and I think it is delicious and the spice level is perfect for me! They have many different options and a few different desserts as well. I enjoyed their green tea ice cream!
Absolutely delicious. The Buddha Delight had so much flavor. Fried rice was very tasty. The service is excellent! Will be back and recommended if looking for really good Chinese food.
This is our go-to Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious. They are always faster than I expect and they really do a great job taking care of us! Thank you, Bob, for very quickly taking care of a mistake on tonight's order!!! FYI I always order through their website, Asian Garden Order Online, only $2 delivery charge.
I am not normally one to leave a review but we were so impressed with El Pescador Fish Market that I just had to. Initially, it made such a great impression as all the seafood looked incredible. The option to have anything cooked the way you choose is an amazing concept. We got there around 7:45 and placed our order. We received half of it but checked with them when we noticed that they were cleaning up. Some kind of computer glitsch had dropped off part of our order. Their response to this was over the top accommodating and professional. They brought us new and more food than we could eat and still insisted on cooking the Halibut I had ordered with extra servings of everything. Definitely an amazing and professional staff. We live in Atlanta or we would frequent this restaurant often. Do not miss this opportunity to get her while in La Jolla!
El Pescador Fish Market is absolutely exceptional. The service is great, and the quality of the food is outstanding. I’ve never been much of a fish person, but this place completely converted me. The seafood is unbelievably fresh and incredibly delicious—everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I’m still talking about it days later. If you’re in San Diego, this is a must-stop spot for seafood lovers (and future seafood lovers).
My favorite seafood restaurant in entire USA. I have been in at over dozen times from their original location cross the restaurant in 2012 and the current restaurant for many years. Sean is a talented owner who puts out absolute delicious seafood and hospitality. If you like seafood get here! Thanks Sean and the staff for many great meals.
Stopped in for a late lunch and this place was bustling. El Pescador is a fish market with a restaurant attached and plenty of seating. I got a salad with fresh halibut, avocado and vinaigrette. The food was good—4/5. The halibut could use more seasoning, but overall it's simple, no-frills healthy food. The wait staff was very nice too. Worth a visit if you want fresh seafood without any fuss.
This place is awesome! The seafood is truly the star of the show in every dish you order. Super fresh (truly from the case) with a bunch of local fish options. The sandwiches are amazing- highly recommend getting them borrego style with avocado added. The watermelon lemonade can’t be missed and the fish tacos are huge and delicious!
Have eaten here so many times but this is my first review. This place literally never fails. Let’s start with the oysters….only got 4 as a little app for myself but I seriously could have eaten 2 dozen. Currently regretting my decision as I devoured my 4 in about 60 seconds. And their mignonette is next level. If you like oysters, do yourself a favor and get these. I got the west coast ones but I’m sure the east coast ones are also FIRE. Moving on to my main dish, got the blackened/cajun salmon plate and this also was next level. Even the freaking side of veggies was amazing. It’s probably not the cheapest seafood in town but it is easily the best. Worth every penny.
I had the catch of the day swordfish regular sandwich with avocado and my partner had the mahi mahi regular sandwich with avocado. Fireeee sandwiches. I loved my swordfish especially. Top 10 sandwiches I had in my life. Would definitely come here for a nice lil Sammy if you like food that's delicious. If you don't like food that delicious idk what to tell you, maybe share some broken shells with the seagulls.
This place is the best. My favorite item is the swordfish, always a treat. So so fresh, and it's amazing in a sandwich. (tip: always say yes to Avo) Don't sleep on their clam chowder either, it's the best I've ever had outside of the east coast. And the salads are on point too, can't go wrong really with the protein choice. Fish, shrimp, octopus, scallops all are super delicious. This has been a go-to spot in my family for about 20 years and I just can't get enough!
El Pescador Fish Market is a perfect blend of a classic seafood market and a casual Mexican-inspired eatery. You order at the counter from a great selection of fresh fish, which they turn into sandwiches, burritos, tacos, and more. The vibe is laid-back but lively, and the focus is clearly on quality. We had the clam chowder, which was creamy and packed with flavor, the calamari steak plate—grilled instead of fried, super tender and unique—and the yellowtail tuna burrito, which was fresh and healthy, though a bit different than expected. Everything was well-prepared and delicious. If you love fresh seafood, this spot is a must-visit!
Everything was impeccable here from the quality of food and prices to cleanliness. For how fresh and high quality the seafood was, the price range was extremely reasonable. Everything we ordered (clam chowder, cioppino, ceviche, grilled teriyaki salmon burger) was not over seasoned and cooked just right. I love that not only they cooked them well but did a great job highlighting the seafood without overcompensating with seasonings. I appreciate them using real plates and bowls and utensils too. Also the tip suggestion started from 10%, which you don’t see often anymore. It makes me want to tip them more! You order at the counter where you can see all the fresh seafood in the case and the open kitchen. They bring the food to you and bus your dishes, just get your own water which is readily available. Service was pretty quick and efficient. Given how busy they were, the restrooms were very clean and pleasant. Lastly I love that they disclose the source of their seafood. Sustainable fishery is super important… Overall experience was nothing but satisfying and I’d definitely recommend here for a decent quality seafood experience that doesn’t rip you off!
Fresh fish and seafood restaurant. The concept is to choose from the fresh selection displayed and decide what form of preparation you want and just sit and enjoy a quality meal. The restaurant is spacious and the selection of fish is rich. All the dishes chosen were excellently prepared, whether it was fresh tuna, scallop ceviche, grilled lobster, grilled sea bass, fresh oysters or the mussels that were in an excellent sauce. Keep in mind that sometimes the line to order is particularly long, but the wait is worth it.
Fresh delicious seafood. Happy smiling employees and great environment as well as a great location.

Excellent food and service. We both enjoyed our meal. The dinner was reasonably priced. The restaurant is very informal. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table.
Wonderful dinner. Not very fancy, but clean and nice. Food great. Best shrimp salad sandwich I ever had. Largest shrimp I ever had on a sandwich. All four liked what we had.
We were trying to find the best fish taco in La Jolla, and I think we hit the mark! The clam chowder was also excellent. I appreciate it how helpful the staff was ordered.
Everything was fresh with a great selection of seafood. Resturant was very clean tables , floor, counter, in and outside.

Ate at El Pescador Fish Market and Restaurant while visiting the area and overall really enjoyed the food. Ordered a few things. The halibut was very fresh with a nice charred grilled flavor and overall very tasty. Probably the best halibut we have had, though I still think I personally prefer swordfish. The veggies on the plate were refreshing. I had the swordfish sandwich for $20.95 and it was excellent. I've always liked swordfish but this was next level. Charred on the outside, tender on the inside, and a great option if you do not like a strong fish flavor. We also tried the 8oz chowder for $5.95. It was good, but I prefer the New England style more. My son had the salmon kids meal for $15.95. It came with rice and beans and he finished it in minutes. I tried a bit myself and honestly could eat this salmon everyday. You order at the front and the food is brought out to you. There is no real table service. It was pretty packed during late lunch. There is a very small parking lot in the back, maybe four or five cars, and otherwise there's street parking available. It did feel a bit pricey but the food was fresh and delicious. I really loved the fish here and would definitely come back to try these flavors again. You can also buy fresh fish to take home, and it all looked great. The ambiance inside was nice. 4.5 rounded down.

Please start checking how cooked your boba is before you give to customers! The boba teas are a favorite but I have now had ones that have ranged from overcooked to completely undercooked. In the attached photo you can see just how undercooked my boba was (and I ate most of it), but for those who haven’t ever eaten raw boba it is like eating balls of chalk - horrible.
The owners were super nice and the food was FAST. Mine was piping hot, my boyfriend’s was “warm”. It just wasn’t that delicious...The fried rice was basically unseasoned. I ended up drowning mine in the sweet and sour sauce to give it some flavor. My tofu/broccoli dish was okay and overall the portions were very generous for the price (lunch special!). I don’t think I’d come back here if I were in the are again

The food is edible but totally bland and eminently forgettable, if abundant. We ordered egg rolls that were dry and tasteless, but crispy. The crust was the best part. We also ordered shrimp fried rice, which lacked seasoning and required generous applications of soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce for any flavor at all, but had a goodly number of shrimp. Our "spicy" Kung Pao shrimp had a few peppers in it, but totally lacked spiciness. We won't return. Bland, bland, bland.
1st order here. Ordered General TAo's Chicken. They asked if I wanted it with vegetables or deep fried. Chose deep fried. Dish is in general described/known as a crisp breaded chicken pieces in a sweet tangy sauce. The dish I received was total MUSH breaded chicken, not AT ALL crispy, and nor any sense of 'sweet' with the tangy. Mine order being the 'deep fried', I can not fathom stomaching the MUSH breading that would suround the non deep fried order. This dish being one of the 10-12 'Chef's Specialty' dish offerings - headlining the menu, it leaves very little confidence in what would be expected of the 30-40 other menu offerings - outside what they would consider outside their chef's specialties. Photo'd is roughly the portion remaining I won't eat.
We came here on a busy day, and the food was understandably rushed. I ordered chicken fried rice and I noticed that it tasted off. Instead of having the chicken stir fried and cooked with the rest of the plate, it was boiled and added separately, taking away from the flavor of the rest of the food. Additionally, service was very slow here. Though I appreciate the hard work of the people in the kitchen and the server, I unfortunately did not have a positive experience.
Ordered the Kung Pao dinner plate. Asked for spicy. The food was sub par from the flavor to the quality of the meat which was chewy and strange texture for chicken. Fried rice is nothing but fried rice, literally nothing else. Wouldn’t highly recommend this place for a $21 dinner plate I would expect high quality food.
This is for delivery only. And never order from these people. I called up, placed my order and was told that it would be 45 minutes. It took a little under 90. When I got my food, it was cold and the delivery driver left without offering me any change. When I got inside, my food was cold and the order was wrong. I called up and was told the only way I could get a refund would be to drive all the way down there and back. And I had better have a "complete" order. I did this. When I got there, the woman made me wait again to get my money back and then she very closely examined all the food to make sure I hadn't dared to eat anything to make up for the 45 minute drive there and back through traffic. I got my money back and then the driver was very threatening and said I had better not say he stole from me.

Terrible service! Right when I walked in the first thing the owner of restaurant told me to make sure I tip. Very rude and unprofessional!
2 days ago, I visited here to have lunch. I ordered several foods with rice. however my rice color was weird; it was mixed with white and 'black'. so we asked to the waitress to change into new one. but she said that there is no problem and 'just' eat it with rude behavior. eventually she gave us new one but just kept argued with us so we were totally messed up that day. taste was just fine but she really had attitude problem.
Worst food I have eaten!! I will never eat here again!! Don’t waste your money!! My friend ordered chicken with vegetables he got 2 very small pieces of chicken with very soggy vegetables. I ordered Buddha’s delight. again very soggy vegetables with only 2 very small pieces of tofu. I was very sick to my stomach after eating it. (I didn’t finish my food)
It seems the food was much better in January, but now it’s May. I ordered the General Tao’s Chicken (spicy) and it was just really bad. The chicken is supposed to be battered, deep fried then sauce on top, but what I received was just a very soggy mess that had no flavor or spice. I took all of two bites and just threw it away. It was that bad. I should have just gone to a Panda Express. If it wasn’t for the wonton soup and two fortune cookies, I would have gone to bed hungry. 1 star for the wonton soup and two cookies.
Worst Chinese food ever! Orange Chicken was soggy and not spicy at all. Mongolian Beef was terrible and bland. The House Fried Rice had no flavor. Ordered delivery and food arrived in about 20 minutes which was great until I realized that the food seemed like it had been cooked long ago. I don't know how this place stays in business in La Jolla...
The food was delivered 45 min after I was told it would be here. The food is gross! Has a little bit and bland! Pork fried rice.... tastes like nothing but grease and nothing like it should! 😢 I order one thing, they bring another. Don't waste your time or money! They did not even tell me how much before they hung up. Not worth it at all!
This is a terrible restaurant. The service from the waitstaff was awful. I told the waitress I didn't like the table by the door and asked if there was a table for three inside, and she agreed to let me know if one became available. However, we were still seated outside even after we finished our meal. We spent ninety dollars on a meal and were stuck sitting by the door, which was very uncomfortable. The waitress completely ignored our complaints. Be careful before entering this restaurant. Negative review.
