ʻOhana at Disney's Polynesian Resort is a popular, all-you-can-eat restaurant known for its delicious food, lively atmosphere, and excellent service. Many reviewers rave about the noodles, bread pudding, and honey butter. Some find it pricey, but overall it's a favorite for a fun dining experience.
Tip: Reservations are highly recommended and can be hard to get, so keep checking for openings. Many recommend the noodles and bread pudding.
Top tier. Likely the best quick service restaurant at a Disney resort I’ve had to date. The atmosphere was welcoming and joyful. The service was top notch! And the food speaks for itself. We did have to wait exactly to our reservation time due to how busy the Polynesian resort is with wait times, but definitely worth it. Also appreciate Disney for taking allergies seriously as we had no issues having a gluten allergy accommodated and considered.
Kona Cafe has long been a breakfast favorite of my family for many, many years. Located on the second floor of the main building at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, it’s an aesthetically pleasing restaurant for which reservations are highly recommended. Unless you are staying there, walk over, or ride over using another mode of Disney transportation, you need a dining reservation to park on property. The rest of this review is going to be a love letter to their legendary Tonga Toast breakfast entree. Tonga Toast is essentially a large piece of bread that is turned into French toast and rolled in cinnamon sugar. There’s half a banana inside- we think it gets mushy and ask for it on the side. It comes with a side choice of like 4 meats. And you can have syrup or Strawberry Compote. We never fail to ask for extra compote and pour it over every inch of that cinnamon coated bread. Amazing. Kids probably need to share one- it’s a lot for one adult to handle. It’s in my top five breakfast dishes of all time. It lives up to the hype, served in a really nice restaurant in a beautiful resort.
We had an amazing experience at Kona Cafe! We had a reservation for a Sunday morning at 9:30 and it was the perfect time. It wasn’t too busy when we were seated. Our server was amazing! I am not great at keeping track of names but I need to start paying more attention! I eat gluten free and they are SO ACCOMMODATING at Disney. She asked if I was comfortable talking to her or if I would prefer to talk to the chef. They have tickets that they write allergens on to ensure the kitchen is well aware. The kitchen does take some extra time to cook your meal because they are very conscientious of allergies to ensure that nothing is cross contaminated. We were sat and ordered before a table next to us, but they got their food 5-10 minutes before we did. No worries! We had to get some POG (pineapple, orange, guava) juice! Fricken delicious and refreshing! I ordered the gluten free Polynesian egg platter and it was the perfect amount of food! It was very filling, and nice to have the fruit to lighten it up and a little donut for dessert! The donut is from Erin McKenna’s bakery and is free of 7 or 9 of the top allergens. I cannot remember! It was very good donut for being so free of allergens. My boyfriend ordered the Loco Moco and it was crazy delicious! It seemed unconventional as it was rice, chorizo gravy and a hamburger patty, but it was amazing! The flavor was great, and it honestly wasn’t too filling and heavy. We had an amazing visit and cannot wait to go back to try more!
For guest of the Polynesian resort, the Kona Café is one of those must do breakfast spots on property. This is where you can get the infamous Tonga toast, which is a dessert breakfast item wearing too thick slices of brioche or perhaps Hollow bread are stuffed with slices of banana, battered, and then fried before being rolled in cinnamon sugar, and served up. I think this leans more toward dessert but is served at breakfast and American fashion. Our party love the Tonga toast, though two of our members did agree that it was a bit too sweet for a breakfast item, and we did decide to split it. Another member got the pancakes that were topped with pineapples, and we can report that the pancakes were very fluffy and the pineapples added it just the right touch of sweetness. We would definitely recommend this place for those staying at the resort or even though staying on the monorail as it is not too difficult to get here from other locations. That being said there are amazing breakfast places in Disney and this isn’t one that we would go out of our way to see, especially given that you really should have a reservation for Kona Café. otherwise the wait times tend to exceed 30 and 45 minutes on average. The other issue might be for those in your party. You have sensory concerns given that the Kona Café is, more or less, in the atrium with all of that accompanying noise. There aren’t really walls that separated from just the general areas and so that can be quite overwhelming. still if you like a tropical flare to your breakfast and don’t mind too much noise or having to wait long for a seat and this is the place for you!
We were able to snag a last minute reservation for dinner as a break from the park. (Suggestion just keep checking because they will open up!) It was my daughter’s birthday and our server made sure to make her feel special the entire time. The food was amazing! The braised short rib was just falling off the bone and the chicken was so juicy and flavorful. Our son loved that they had a kid-friendly sushi option.
Kona Cafe is always a hit and the food never disappoints. You get the Polynesian vibe right in the center of everything and a second best to being at Ohana. Someone always get the short rib which is delicious. Other great options are the pork chop, salmon, and Asian chicken! Plus if you love the Ohana noodles they are a secret menu idea that can be requested. Apps we get are the pot stickers and wings which h always hit!
I have multiple food allergies and remembered Tonga Toast fondly. The chef came out and explained how they could remake it safe for me. It was delicious, and I felt safe eating it and not at all like I was a problem, or in the way by asking to see the chef. It was such a great experience all around and highly wheelchair accessible.
Catch a full & fresh, tasty breakfast at Polynesian Resort before hitting the Disney World parks. A really neat, totally Vintage Disney feel here. Kona is smaller & more quiet than Ohana, & there are no characters.
This place is busy with tons of families with school aged children. The food isn't very exotic if you eat take out Chinese but it's sweet and tasty. As a single adult dining alone I felt out of place but the waitress was very lovely. I wish I got her name - she was the best server of my whole visit. The Hawaiian rolls are very soft and sweet. The Boa was great and even if you're kids don't like the filling they can unfold them and eat the bun. (The kids at the table next to me did this somewhat to my amusement.) The ribs where we're tender and my waitress recommended that I just swap the pureed carrot for the pureed potatoes which was an excellent decision and had no additional cost. She recommended the bread pudding. I eat the ice cream (very large scope) and enjoy the pudding for breakfast. She also without asking brought water to go. I was a little surprised but by the time I made it back to the Contemporary on the monorail - and back to my room the large water was in fact all gone. I would recommend just asking for water to go at the end of any table service in the summer.
This was our 1st visit to Kona Cafe. We are avid pin traders so we always like to make a reservation for lunch or dinner in one of the resorts. Jose was our waiter. He was very nice and attentive. He was able to accommodate my request with no issue. The kids meals come with plenty of food and the adult meals are large as well. I would say this is more of the more affordable places as the bill for a family of 4 with tip was about $86. I got the Turkey Bah Mei and Hub got the Kona Burger. Both items were tasty, fresh and super filling. We loved the cucumber ribbons & meat that was on the burger and the Bah Mei tasted like heaven. I actually could not finish and took 1/2 home because it was so large! Kids had the tenders and burger. Both were piled high with fries! Kids loved their meals. The highlight of the meal though, to be very honest, was the Pineapple Bread Rolls they give you in the beginning of the meal. They are fluffy, semi sweet and just delish. I must have and TAKE Home for later!! I have no negative comments about this meal as we would be more than happy to eat here again and look forward to it!
It's not my favorite place on property, but that's just personal preference. Kona is a great resource if you can't land a Disney meal reservation at your top spots. The food is great, the service is great, and the atmosphere is nice (youre in the Poly, which is awesome.) Truly, everything is great, its just missing the "Wow/Disney" factor in my opinion. The sauces were all phenomenal. They have amazing sushi, creative drinks, and more.. located inside the Polynesian right off the monorail! When you walk in the resort, Kona will be upstairs on the left. You can usually have better luck with reservations here than most places. They also have some clever desserts, espressos and etc.. you'll most likely need a reservation to park here. The attendants/security can be super strict. You'll probably enjoy your meal a lot, but it most likely won't become your favorite Disney dining experience.
The breakfast was delicious and affordable! If you can’t get a reservation at Ohana they offer a lot of the same foods here!
The coffee place right next to Kona Cafe is amazing. Couldn’t find it on Google so leaving the review here. It is the best coffee in Disney, I will skip any other Starbucks and Joffrey’s. The sweet cream cold brew is so good and the lady making it was incredibly nice. 1000000/10
Awesome restaurant, and very decor. The food was so delicious. 😋 Our server Jose was great! The Potstickers were the best that I've had in a while.
Kona Cafe is a hidden gem. I enjoyed my meal. not much in terms of theming like other disney dining spots, but the vibe is relaxed and chill. While everyone is over at Ohana, they're missing out on this place. I came here for lunch and ordered a Backscratcher: super sweet, fruity. Porkbelly Bowl: this is delicious. Savory, smokey. The server recommended I mix it, and I agree! It has a very strong sesame flavor and if you don't mix everything you will get slapped with the sesame flavor! The pork belly is very very smokey. Wasn't expecting that but it really paired with all the other flavors in the bowl. I really liked it overall. No Sugar added Pineapple Cake: tiny, perfect for a solo diner or two people after a big meal. I really really liked this. It was the perfect ending to a meal without it being slap in your face with sugar! Everything was delicious. I highly recommend coming here and giving it a try. Next time I want to try the sushi, looks incredible! The potstickers looked good too. Something to look forward to.

The sushi, danish & coffee were all very good. We also ordered the iced decaf with Bailey's, but I didn't taste the Bailey's much if any. It was $15.50 so I was expecting more flavor. I wouldn't spend the money for that drink again but everything was worth it & the staff were very friendly & accommodating!

I've been going to Disney for over 15 years and the food has often been fine but not spectacular and usually on the expensive side. But this trip, I have been so pleased with every meal that I've had with them, either in the Parks or at the Resorts. Case in point; Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. As a single person travelling, I received excellent service, an attentive server and the chicken was wonderful! I was made to feel very comfortable and have nothing but wonderful things to say about both the restaurant and their staff. Thank you so much!

We had a fantastic dinner there! The service was good and the atmosphere was immersive. Seriously, the from the floor to the roof, it is an experience. We had the chicken and the salmon. Both were awesome! Don't forget the dessert. We had the chocolate cake. It was delicious.

Love the hotel and the atmosphere in the Kona Cafe. Matti was an excellent server. I had the Loco Moco and it wasn't horrible, but it was horribly bland. The hamburger patty had ZERO seasoning -- not even a bit of salt. The gravy was mostly flavorless. The eggs were good. I added ketchup just to give this dish some flavor. I asked for some breakfast potatoes on the side; they were cooked well, but again, no seasoning. Had to douse them in ketchup. My husband had the macadamia nut pancakes. He thought they were okay, but you guessed it, they had zero flavor on their own. If you didn't put some of the pineapple on top, they would be completely bland. The coffee was great. I had a pot of decaf and he had the Kona Coffee press pot and both were very good.
We made reservations for a relaxing breakfast on the last day of our trip. We were staying in the new Island Tower at the Polynesian Resort, so we decided to try the Kona Cafe. It was pretty busy that morning, but the service was quick and friendly. The server came by multiple times and checked in on us. From the time we ordered until we received our food, it was probably around fifteen minutes. The breakfast menu is kind of limited, with less than ten options, which are kind of different versions of the same thing. We both ordered the Breakfast Platter. The platter comes with 2 eggs, potatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, french toast, and mini pancakes. It was quite a bit of food. I did not leave hungry. The pancakes come with a macadamia nut butter and a pineapple compote, very good. We did not try any of the specialty drinks, just juice and coffee. I will go ahead and just say that our breakfast was delicious! Our overall experience at Kona Cafe was pretty great. The atmosphere was nice, the service was quick, and the food was delicious. I would eat here again, and I would recommend that you also give them a go, especially if you are staying at the Polynesian. It was nice to have such a nice place to eat not far from our room. Kona Café at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was an unexpected highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, the service stood out—especially Shawna, who went above and beyond to make our experience welcoming, fun, and seamless. She was attentive without being overbearing, warm, and incredibly helpful with suggestions. The potstickers were a clear favorite—crispy on the outside and packed with flavor. They were beautifully plated and came out piping hot. Honestly, we could’ve ordered a second round and been perfectly happy. What really made the meal memorable, though, was the extra effort the staff made for our daughter. While grilled cheese isn’t on the official menu, they had no problem creating one for her—and not just any grilled cheese. This was a triple-decker, golden-brown, cheesy dream that had all of us sneaking bites. She declared it the best grilled cheese she’s ever had, and we didn’t disagree! The atmosphere of Kona Café is casual yet stylish, and the open kitchen adds a bit of fun energy to the dining experience. Even with the bustling environment, the meal felt relaxing and unhurried. Kona Café is a great choice whether you’re staying at the Polynesian or just hopping over on the monorail for a great bite. The combination of fantastic food, outstanding service, and a few surprise moments made this a standout experience for our family. We’ll absolutely be returning on our next visit to Disney World—and asking for Shawna again!
Food was delicious and plenty for our family of 6 but quite expensive for kids. Glad we did it but can't see doing it again unless as a date meal with just two adults.

Normally, someone else might have given a 1 because of what happened, but I'm giving a 3 for the sake of the other dishes. First, the positives: the burger and the soup were quite good—especially the burger, it was really nice. The service was very slow, and the food took a long time to arrive. The main issue was that we ordered three dishes containing tuna—one of them was a rainbow poke bowl, another was a tuna poke bowl, and the other was something like tuna sushi. Everything with tuna smelled really bad, and as you can see in the photos, even the color was gray. We informed them about it, and they did respond, but since we knew any replacement would take a long time, we didn’t order anything else.

Had the pot stickers and the soup of the day to start which both were nice however the mains came out about 5 minutes after we started eating and they said they’d take it back and keep it warm which isn’t really something you’d want happening when spending $150+ on food. So we had to rush and finish what we could leaving half the soup. By the time we got the ribs it’s was warm at best and pretty dry, we added on the mushrooms and potatoes which were nice and definitely helped but at $40 per plate for the ribs alone I expected better
