Opinions de The White Lion Leamington Spa
I was down in Lemington from Manchester and did a little research to find a nice dog friendly pub for Sunday lunch before I headed back home and found the White Lion..I was in fact with my new kitten and the weather was not as good as promised. I had booked an outside table as no in door tables were available. The thoughtful host found a lovely table inside away from other dog owners which was a great start. I ordered the special 3 meat Sunday Roast. The meal arrived promptly and was delicious. I was also surprised when the host popped over with extra Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes. I had also been offered extra gravy which being a Northerner eagerly accepted. As I enjoyed the meal with perfectly pink beef So much I found a little room for an apple crumble. Not disappointed. Even the cappuccino was good with a side of smarties. Overall, a splendid experience and my only criticism is that it is too far from home to become my go to Sunday lunch venue.
If you look at google the photo is an old one as the pub as recently been done out so no breakfast as the chalk board says but they do morning coffee from 10am. On a recent visit found the place very nice staff were polite and accomadating food was all good no complaints. Their is a large room off the main pub for large parties of around 20 that can be closed off. The pub has arond 100 tables so plenty to choose from inside and out with garden and patio area.Toilets may be a little hard to find but they are clean and to a good order. Also dog friendly so good for walkers and people just dropping in.Not much more as i can say but a good pub and i had a good experience their so go along enjoy or not if you dont go you will never know.
White Lion is an absolute gem of a gastropub, a place where rustic charm meets refined taste in a beautifully restored setting. Walking in, you’re immediately enveloped by the warmth and character of the space—there’s a palpable sense of history in every detail, yet the entire place feels refreshingly polished and elegant. It’s not just a restaurant; it feels like stepping into a thoughtfully crafted experience. The service? Impeccable. Every staff member seems genuinely invested in making your visit memorable, striking that perfect balance between attentive and unobtrusive. They move seamlessly, anticipate needs before you’ve even thought of them, and all with a welcoming friendliness that feels both professional and heartfelt. It’s rare to feel this well looked after without a hint of pretense. Now, onto the main event—the legendary Sunday roast. It’s no exaggeration to say this might just be the pinnacle of comfort dining. The roast itself is flawless: tender, perfectly cooked meat with a golden-brown crust, alongside all the traditional trimmings elevated to new heights. The Yorkshire puddings are crispy and airy, the gravy rich and savory, and the vegetables cooked to perfection, retaining a freshness that’s often missing in classic pub fare. Each bite feels like an indulgence, like this is exactly what a Sunday roast is meant to taste like. White Lion isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a place to experience. With its stunning decor, exceptional service, and food that feels steeped in both tradition and passion, it’s the kind of restaurant that doesn’t just meet expectations—it redefines them.
We had a lovely stop at The White Lion. Needed a place for supper that was cozy and reasonably priced... We hit the jack pot here. Love my Ale pie... So lovely and probably the best I've had in the UK since moving here. My wife had the fish and chips... She was very happy and my son had the sausage and mash! His came with lovely mash... And so did my pie. We will be back. Ohhh we did not have a reservation (but they fitted us in) and we're give the most cozy little table for three. Service was amazing from the time we walked in. Definitely we will be returning!
Had an excellent Sunday roast with all the trimmings. I've enjoyed their weekday menus a few times now, but the Sunday offer was a real treat. Good quality meat and a generous selection of vegetables.
The garden is really lovely and peaceful, and the staff are polite and friendly. We usually just come for coffee since it’s local and in our neighbourhood, but one day we’ll definitely come back for dinner. I highly recommend their coffee
I made a booking for 16 people, put down a £10 deposit per person which I got back promptly after the booking. We were allocated a private room. The food was excellent, having preordered 48 hours in advance. My guests and I were on the clock as we were doing a canal cruise and needed to return a boat promptly later that afternoon. The food came out quickly, was fresh and tasty. Would recommend the White Lion for anyone booking large parties.
Great food, great service. I've never had a bad meal here. Can't fault the roast dinners too. Probably up there as one of the best roast dinners i have eaten out, as they rarely hit the spot. Would recommend
We recently booked the private dining room at The White Lion for a 16-person family and friends gathering on a Sunday afternoon, and it was simply brilliant from start to finish. Kia from the reservations team was wonderfully attentive and accommodating in the lead-up to the event, making the whole process stress-free. On the day itself, Ben and his team took fantastic care of us. Because we were a larger group, we’d pre-ordered our food, and everything was served seamlessly. A lovely surprise was the team bringing out extra Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, and gravy during the meal which was completely unprompted but hugely appreciated. Because it was a beautiful day, we decided to move to the garden, and the staff made it happen effortlessly. I can’t speak highly enough of The White Lion. I’m not local to the area, but my in-laws are and now I’ll be looking for any excuse to come back. Thank you for making our celebration so special.
This is an easy review to write, it's wonderful when you find a new 'go to' place and this one certainly qualifies! Great food, great service and great management. The first time we came they made a mistake with our bill and that was put right and more with free drinks and desserts on our second visit. Thank you Kia, your a credit to the team over there, see you soon!
Amazing Sunday roast! Great service from the manager, Rob, and our server, Freya. The extra potatoes and gravy are also a lovely touch, although I was too full to take advantage of them. My husband had the lamb which he said was amazing too!
We knew this pub from years ago and today we revisited it and very glad we did too: Walked in the front entrance to be met by a beaming smile from Hannah who immediately took control, listening to our needs, directed us to the best area for us and with her staff ordered and served an excellent meal with refreshments at a very good price. Thoroughly great experience with lots of humour and warmth . Looking forward to our next visit. Well Done !!
Exceptional service catering for all 26 of us. Staff very attentive, friendly and professional
Another 10/10 Roast dinner here, best in the area by far… always great service. Had a few requests for the waiter Ben (and waitress but didn’t catch her name ) and chef… all was no trouble at all. This place always gives genuine service and always bring me back. Never deviate for a roast in Leamington as I’m always disappointed. Well done Team White Lion !!
Such a fabulous meal. The lobster special was outstanding. Service is always great. Thanks
Super meal, friendly welcoming staff ... had a lovely evening
Great family pub, garden is kid proof which is great, as i have 3. Great staff very friendly. Fairly priced.
Such a beautiful venue, it completely surprised me how lovely it was. The staff were spectacular helping us select a table, helping us move when it was too sunny where we were sitting, providing real support and insight into the menu, uneven offering me blankets because I'm a baby. The food was fine, though not overly amazing. I wouldn't let that stop you though it was a lovely afternoon, in such a gorgeous back garden.
I have visited this lovely pub several times now, and I haven't been disappointed once. And I haven't found anywhere else that quite matches this place, for service, food quality, cost and atmosphere. The staff are lovely.
We just called in for a coffee this morning and had a fantastic welcome from the staff and what's more we had lovely hot drinks ( not tepid which you sometimes get!) You'll have to try it....we looked at the breakfast menu and are definitely going back!
A wonderful welcome the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful and the food is amazing venue is very nice 😀 👌
Really great food and lovely staff here. We went on a very busy Friday evening and the staff were obviously rushed off their feet trying to keep up. This did mean there was a bit of a wait for food to come out. But it was worth the wait, every dish was delicious (and we are quite picky and judgy when we eat out!). And staff were really kind and obviously doing their best to give good service on a busy evening. The setting was lovely too, dining outside. Thanks for a great evening!
First visit but definitely not the last. The Sunday lunch was delicious and the cauliflower cheese was the best we've had out of all of the many many restaurants and pubs we've had Sunday lunch in. Nice atmosphere, good service, extra roasties on offer 👍 an all round great eating experience with the added bonus of a sunny day to be able to have a drink in the garden
A really great place. Food was lovely, staff were nice. The garden is enclosed and gets the sun for most of the day. Gluten free and Vegan options available.
Popular village pub part of the Peach pub chain which has several in Warwickshire. We did not have a booking but they were able to seat us. An old pub but modern decor. Service friendly and attentive. Good menu choice, which varies by season. Vegetarian choices. Both enjoyed our food, we will be back.
Only popped in a couple of times recently for a drink. Great friendly service, good atmosphere and food looks nice but haven’t tried yet , but intend to do so. Reasonable prices as well👍👍
Best roast I’ve had in years - staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice
Very friendly staff, good selection of beer. Very clean toilets. Service throughout our meal was excellent. Correspondence during booking, confirmation and reminder Very well carried out. Very large car park.
Superb! Thoroughly recommended. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is good quality, nice cooked and presented. Nice that you’re offered extra Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, not that they were required as the portions are ample.
3 visits in a week due to the excellent customer service and fabulous menu. Lived in village 12 years and visited multiple times since Peach pubs taken over. Can really feel a difference with atmosphere, food & staff. Navine & Jacob in particular. Thanks to all, looking forward to trying the Christmas menu:
Have been here before with family. It’s always a lovely experience. Had a lovely Sunday lunch today and not disappointed. I had the vegetarian roast dinner and it was all delicious. Staff come round with extra roast potatoes and yorkshire puds which is a nice touch. Staff super helpful and everything done efficiently. We will continue to come here as it’s always good food and service. Thank you all.
I had such a wonderful experience dining at the white lion Our server, Maisy, was fantastic. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout our meal. Her warm personality and excellent service really enhanced our visit. We'll definitely be back, thanks in large part to Maisy's outstanding hospitality!
Impressive oldy- worldy wood beamed interior, clean and well arranged dining tables. We'll maintained facilities, plenty of parking space and good location / access to the restaurant for all customers. Fabulous menu options for a wide range of budgets, enthusiastic and attentive staff help to make your visit a memorable and fulfilling one.
Beautiful interior and fabulous garden for summer drinks with friends. Ample car parking staff were very friendly (it's a huge area to cover for waiting staff) Food was good (I'd recommend adding a side) if you have a good appetite. Room tempature was chilly a/c was up too high that however is something that is easily resolved. Dirty vegan burger £15.50 Banoffe cheesecake £8.25
Went for Sunday roast, tried the beef and pork, and it didn’t disappoint! The entire place make you feel at home, the staff is incredible friendly, they even come to offer more sides if you are not satisfied, which I thought it was a nice gesture, despite it was more than enough for me. I didn’t have space for dessert, but will need to come for the apple crumble, it looks delicious!
Came here on a Saturday evening and got a table last minute which was great. Restaurant was busy but we weren’t overlooked despite this. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The food was also nice, we ordered chips, wings and marmite butter with ciabatta. The only thing I will say is the amount of butter for the bread wasn’t enough and would’ve been better if we had a bigger pot as these ones were very shallow!
Service was a little slow on a Wed lunchtime, but the place seemed quite busy with larger groups of people. Staff very pleasant and attentive. Prices of food quite reasonable and we especially liked the 2 for £30 on some dishes. The fish and chips looked great. Sadly the beef pie wasn't available the day we visited as most of us would have chosen that. I chose the gammon, egg and chips. I wish I'd asked for peas instead of the rocket salad. The 4 stars (almost a 3 star) was given because the gammon was quite a small portion and a bit gristly. Chips were lovely though. Nice ambience to the pub Would definitely return there.
Had a really nice meal for 2 here. My partner had the Sirloin on the bone which was beautifully cooked and the chips were good. I had the miso cod which I really enjoyed. Thankfully I had some of my partner's chips as it was not a huge portion. We then shared 3 cheese board which were delicious but very small pieces and we should have had one each to be fair. We sat outside in the covered area which was a wonderful setting. The restaurant inside was also very busy as it was Saturday night. Service was good considering how busy they were. It was a really nice evening. The food was overall good quality but not 5 stars as it was not exceptional. Still I would highly recommend a visit
Seems to be a sister pub to the rose and crown in Warwick , as they have the same menu. The food was to the same standard , which is very nice. Absolutely love the cheese souffle! A bit pricey , but I guess the new prices we have to get use to with inflation. Service was good , maybe some of the waitress need a bit more training on some of the dishes and serving drinks 😉😉 Overall a good experience , we will be back 😊
Our booking issue was resolved immediately on arrival, waiting staff were helpful and very attentive
Usual problem when not reserving a table. Got stuck in a side area and the service suffered. £19 for a roast dinner was steep.and it wasn't great. Didn't get the table cleared and had to go and find someone to pay. Unimpressed and will not be returning. Picture of the table remaining uncleared when we left. Says it all.
We have visited the place for the first time. It's very well refurbished. Lovely pergola outside. We have been greeted by a friendly staff. We have ordered our dinner there. The drinks were quite nice. My partner ordered a chicken terrine for the starter which was nice. However, we have been disappointed by the mains and the children's meal (very basic burger, no veggies on the side). My partner has ordered a veggie burger with fries and I've ordered the crab. For the price, we were expecting more for the presentation as well as the sides and taste. The fries were not great. The food was ok. I was also very disappointed by the Tarte tatin as it tastes burnt caramel. We might come back if they make some improvements on the presentation, the portions and the sides of the meals. But at the moment, we will probably come back just for drinks but not for food.
Normally a great place to eat but was disappointed with the food and slow service albeit very friendly. Maybe just an off day for the White Lion
The staff were lovely and helpful. I was there on Sunday for lunch. I ordered roast beef pink but when it arrived it was essentially raw and I couldn’t get a knife through it. My friend had ordered well done and said it was chewy. For £24 I don’t expect top rump. They need to use a far better cut like sirloin or rib. I sent it back and had chicken instead which was very good but not what I had wanted. Vegetables and accompaniments were lovely but the meat should be the star.
I ordered the fish and chips, followed by the apple tarte tatin. The fish and chips are were decent, but the pudding was excellent. The restaurant itself and its surrounding neighborhood was charming. The service, however, was shockingly slow for the quiet afternoon we visited.
