First time atThe Log Cabin and what a delight! We went for Valentine’s Day. Got a late reservation and was slightly worried about where we might be seated, but our seating was perfect. We got drinks from the bar and waited in the beautiful lounge before our reservation, which was right on time. Not crowded or loud. Definitely made to feel special. Our server was lovely, very attentive. All 5 courses of our meal were wonderful! Hubby had surf & turf and I had the Salmon Oscar. Had the French onion soup & shrimp/grits for appetizers…yum! Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere! Will come back again- for special occasions as this is not in my regular dining out budget! It’s a great place to come for a special occasion! We enjoyed the live music for a bit before leaving. Also, the hostesses were so sweet to offer taking photos at their sweet backdrop!❤️

An anniversary treat, that we would repeat. :-) This venue has vintage colonial charm, with upscale tavern feel, and carefully curated dishes. The holiday decor included rustic and hand crafted ornaments, along with classic decorations and lights - very welcoming and low-key festive. The unique butter served with the bread was delightful (thyme, mustard, and maple), and pairs well with the sourdough and pretzel breads. The entree flavors were on point for the duck breast and the scallop/cod cakes. The vegetables and starches chosen for each complimented well, and the unique seasonings lead to enjoyable journeys of flavor that felt like a "complete" and satisfying dish. One note of critique was that the particular duck breast we had was slightly more rare than we prefer, and also had significant connective tissue which made part of it impossible to eat. One note of particular praise is the beet and pearls served with the seafood cakes were a distinctly bright and an enjoyable surprise. The tiramasu is very small, but PACKED with flavor. This desert typically leans either toward Rum (boozie sweet), or coffee/cocoa (savory spice). My preference is the latter, and in a bigger portion....HOWEVER, this bite was delightful. It leaned toward rum and sweet, but just enough to be distinct without sacrificing the espresso notes. It was also very moist and very light, and even though my typical portion preference is 4x what was served, a 2x size would have been approaching overkill. Again, delightful. The chocolate espresso torte was also delicious and like a light decadent fudge. The portion was perfect, and the citrus collis was a perfect compliment. Joanne was our server and she was very personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. The manager met us on our way out and helped us get a picture by the tree near the foyer piano - she was also very personable and welcoming. Cost is on the high side of premium. Starters (snacks) are in the $8-12 range, Small Plates (appetizers) are in the $15-25 range, and Entrees range from $34-$75+ depending on the protein. At $50 the duck breast should have been much better prepared and sourced to ensure premium experience. The seafood cakes were delicious, but again for this price point a real fresh crab or lobster cake would be more aligned - or a much better quality scallop (with perhaps Mahi). We cannot speak to the steak/filet experience, but those were in the $70+ range - we would expect premium cuts of meat and perfect prep. Overall, very satisfied and will return. Due to the premium pricing, we would recommend this for very special occasions as budget allows. We also encourage customers to provide feedback to the kitchen to ensure the experience aligns with value.

I've been aware of the Log Cabin for decades but for one reason or another I've never actually been. I've made a terrible mistake. The atmosphere delivers. The staff was amazing, and the food was fantastic. My daughter had potato crusted halibut (not pic). My wife had the scallop and cod cakes. I had the pork shank osso buco. Everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and the accompaniments were a very creative blend of flavors. Their chef is very talented. I just couldn't say goodbye without trying their sticky toffee pudding, which lived up to it's reputation. I'll definitely be returning to try some other selections from that incredible menu.

Food is incredible - every detail is high-quality and very well-done. Cocktails are delicious and well-balanced. Service is top notch. Ambiance is beautiful and historic. Tim the owner is super nice and hospitable. 10/10 highly recommend. Higher-end prices but VERY well worth it. Reservations recommended.

What an awesome first time and definitely not the last time. Thank you for helping us celebrate 16 years. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. The Jumbo Shrimp and Grits was delicious. The Seared Salmon Oscar and Creme Brulee were phenomenal. Thank you again.

Me and my partner dined here yesterday (kinda last minute res) when we first got there the host was so incredibly sweet and kind. we got there 15 minutes before our res and we sat in the lounge (gorgeous). our server (i believe his name was christian) was unbelievable. We ordered the charcooch, bone marrow, carpaccio and pork belly. The carpaccio might’ve been the best bite i’ve ever had. The drinks as well were so delicious and well balanced. We WILL be going back.

My Father-in-law treated his wife, my wife, and me to a dinner in honor of the celebration of life for my mother who had recently passed in March. The food was simply fantastic; fresh, hot, and extremely flavorful. The service was on point, very attentive, and quick. The atmosphere was very antique; a log cabin motif, based on a speakeasy history. Such a wonderful experience... and the desserts... amazing! I wholeheartedly recommend trying this restaurant. You will not regret the decision... I guarantee!

Celebrated our wedding anniversary on Saturday May 17th at 5pm in the porch room. The atmosphere was amazing and we had the best server, Edwin. He was so helpful and attentive. The French onion soup is a must. We got the salmon and seafood pasta. We did have some sand in the muscles but that’s to be expected. This was our first time back in a while and we were so impressed with the food. We are so excited to dine at the log cabin again.

Hearing about the log Cabin is nothing compared to the actual experience. Upon walking in, you realize there's something special about this place. Reading about the history and seeing the beautifully decorated interior transports you back to a period of elegance. We sat at the bar; the area is gorgeous. Lily the bartender was so good. She was passionate about making exquisite cocktails, and it showed through. The dishes were amazing in taste and the presentation was absolutely gorgeous. The setting was intimate, and we had wonderful conversations with strangers turned to comrades. You don't need a special occasion to dine here, dining here IS a special occasion. Highly recommend.

Best hidden fine dining in Pa! This place is so cozy and romantic. We made reservations in the Booth Room. Food was delicious. There was jazz music. Great place for any special event or date. Service is top notch.

Absolutely excellent! We had brunch here to celebrate a couple of family birthdays, with it being one of the best meals I’ve had. All seven members of our party agreed their dishes were prepared to perfection. The atmosphere was great for the occasion and the service was spectacular. Alandra, our waitress was top notch; we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. The prices are definitely up there, but everyone agreed that every dish ordered was well worth it. We’ll definitely be back to celebrate many more special events in the future!

It's hard not to love this place. We dined in the bar area next to the fireplace which had great atmosphere. We were celebrating an anniversary and it was nice that they signified this with a small arrangement of flowers and a place card. We were able to take the flowers with us, which will help us remember the evening for more than just one night. We started with a seafood bisque and the French onion. My wife is a self certified french onion connoisseur and is always in search for something that is as great as the french onion at the Dobbin House in Gettysburg. This is the first time in many years I've heard that this was the closest to that standard, so a long way of saying the french onion was fantastic. The cabin in the woods cocktail was excellent if your an old fashioned fan. It comes to the table in a small bottle and both the bottle and glass are smoked. It felt like it payed homage to the restaurants speakeasy days from the 30's. We both enjoyed some of the steaks, the Filet and the 21 day dry aged Ribeye. Both were very good, probably the best steaks we've had.

We had my birthday dinner there and everything was MAGNIFICENT! Kendall, our waitress was great and the food was amazing, but I dinged a star for the dry pheasant breast. It tasted good, just dry. The steak, although, was superb! The atmosphere was also of note...perfect lighting and great live music. I highly recommend!

Celebrating our daughter's birthday here was the best choice! Enjoyed the live music afterwards. I had duck confetti salad and it was delicious! And the seafood chowder was the best. Snowcrab legs were a special and grandson devoured them

Amazing meals. First visit to The Log Cabin this evening was excellent. Great atmosphere, quite a history to the place. As for the food, everything from the calamari to the pasta with PEI mussels and scallops was excellent. Our server Christine was outstanding. Great young lady. Want a place to go for a special occasion? Try The Log Cabin.

Loved this place! Definitely on the pricey/upscale end but we definitely felt like it was worth it. All the food and drinks we had were excellent, the staff was friendly and accommodating, we had a great table right near a window looking into the yard, and the ambience of the place overall was wonderful. I’m hoping this is a place my partner and I will regularly come back to!

This evening I enjoyed an excellent dining experience at the log cabin celebrating my parent’s birthday’s as they are a week apart. When we walked into this historic building there was a live band playing jazz music. Our server Tina was attentive and well versed in her duties. The food was expertly cooked to perfection and delicious. At the end of the night we even met the chef to congratulate him on a job well done. This is clearly an establishment that seeks to provide the best possible experience. 5/5 will dine here again

Wonderful service with a personal touch. The food was fantastic. The filet was amazing, but if you have the opportunity to try the blackened salmon, it is second to none. The only ding I could give would be for the (live) music volume; it was impossible to have any kind of conversation in the sitting area where they were playing. I think turning it down a notch or two would maintain the same ambiance. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Wow! This was a great restaurant and I highly recommend it. The food was excellent! My meal started with a flavorful, French Onion soup. It was served very hot (be careful not to burn yourself), with cheese beautifully melted over it. My main dish was a juicy, tender, steak filet with a side of well seasoned potatoes and veggies. The potatoes and veggies were totally amazing! I loved the seasoning on them. Desert was a "Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb". The entire thing was smooth, through and through with rich chocolate favors! There was a chocolaty, crunchy crust on the bottom, more chocolate on top, and a soft and smooth chocolate surprise in the middle. The middle had a thick layer of soft, peanut butter cream filling. This masterpiece was topped with cream and a chocolate leaf. As much as I loved the Chocolate Peanut Butter bomb, next time I may need to try the Toffee dessert. I do like Toffee and the actual dessert looked much better than I was expecting. It looked incredible and came with ice cream. The Log Cabin was also just a great venue for a large group gathering. I was there for a work party. We walked in to festive, but not overwhelming, live music. Decorations were tasteful and welcoming. When seated at the table you could talk with everyone who was sitting with you. We've been at other work parties where hearing each other was a struggle because the room was just too loud. Here we could easily carry on conversations with others. There were plenty of staff and they were all friendly and eager to help!

My husband and I recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary and decided to splurge on a nice, fine dining experience. This place did not disappoint! I LOVED that they put a little place holder on our table that said Happy Anniversary. The drinks were amazing. The food, I cannot put into words. I had the Pork Osso Bucco and it was the BEST pork that I have ever had, my husband had lobster tail and he also said it was the best that hes had. The atmosphere is beautiful- the owner walked into the dining room and approached every single table and engaged in short conversation with everyone. Best service we have ever experienced! We will definitely be back!

Special place for us and family. Price increases pose threat to its future. Edit: With more time and a keyboard: Under various ownership, I have dined here for 45 years. That would give me at least 150 visits, and I've held private corporate dinners as well. So something here is special. It's just hard to run a restaurant, hard to keep great staff without paying above scale, and it is a tough time for beef prices as the owner notes below. Great article by the way, on the restaurant business from WSJ. I will continue to dine here well into the future because i can. But some will find prices off putting, and I think charging for a few slices of not-fresh bread service unnecessary - not special enough to deserve to charge. Love the onion soup, the beef, the osso bucco, the salmon; but it is the only restaurant, perhaps across 48 states of dining, where neither of us care for the mushrooms. That's odd. I would be disappointed if it were not in my rotation.

I was on a weekend away with a friend. We went here for dinner. She was very impressed. Our waitress was Mary Rose. She was extremely nice. She's very good at her job. Well the food was excellent . We started with the bread for the table. It was so good. So glad we got it. Also got the platter with cheese, meats, nuts, pate and crackers. It was delicious. And we both got the salmon entree. It was superb. It was a great evening out. Thanks

My 5 star rating is for Natalie who was kind and efficient. I reached out by text on a busy sat night as we were traveling through and wanted to eat here. She responded by phone and was very gracious when we arrived. We had to wait a bit which we already knew but Natalie made sure we were comfortable and checked in on us throughout. She went out of her way to make it extra special for us even though it was crazy busy there. Log cabin is lucky to have her. Our server was also excellent. Thanks again for being so accommodating and thoughtful!

This place was fantastic! Yeah, it’s a little pricey, but honestly worth every penny. When we went, there was live music and the band was amazing — it gave the whole night such a fun vibe. The food? Outstanding. The pork was hands-down the best I’ve ever had, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Everything else we tried was great too, but that pork stole the show. Our waiter was awesome — super friendly, attentive, and made us feel really taken care of without hovering. Overall, between the atmosphere, the music, the food, and the service, it was just a great experience. I’d definitely come back whenever I’m in the area.

My boyfriend and I made dinner reservations for his birthday. We didnt book it enough in advance to sit in the dining area, so we had reservations for the bar area. The food and service were exceptional. We really enjoyed our visit. Our waitress/bartender even encouraged us to do a tour around the building when we finished eating so we did. We ordered a few other drinks I didnt get pictures of. Our bill including tip was a little over $250.00. That is very expensive for us to spend but we splurged since it was a birthday dinner. ***Edited to add our 2nd visit: Once again, our food was excellent! Our bill total for 2 people was $191.58, without a tip. Still very pricey in my opinion but every once in a while, we splurge and come here.

Excellent restaurant for a romantic dinner. Always have a reservation for this restaurant otherwise, you probably won't get a seat. I only gave a 4 because our waitress wasn't very attentive, gave the wrong specials and gave no details on the specials. I brought up that what she said the special was, wasn't on the menu and she corrected herself saying it was yesterdays. The table waitress next to us went into deep details on the specials along with making some recommendations. We got none of that! We were there almost 1 1/2 hours and our waitress came by 3 times to check on us. The food was absolutely phenomenal! I would absolutely come back for dinner again with the hopes we receive a better server. We also ordered the Salt and Vinger chips with fresh pretzels (Fabulous) and didn't finish it so they boxed it up but didn't put the dipping sauce in the container. I was so looking forward to it later that night but was totally surprised it wasn't in the container. The young lady playing the piano and singing was also awesome. We thought about staying after dinner to listen to her but the lounge was full so decided to head out.

The history and atmosphere of this place (it was an old speakeasy) is amazing, but I was disappointed to be seated upstairs in a room that felt more like a plain side room than the atmosphere this place is known for. This tainted my review (room was super quiet with only one other party of two sitting in it; I felt like we had been banished from the main area). With this said, our waitress was super friendly though it did take a long time to get our food (not her fault). The food was delicious though. Would I recommend? Yes, but I would request to be seated on the main floor (with two roaring fireplaces, this is definitely where you want to be in the winter).

Very nice atmosphere, especially with the jazz trio playing in the reception area. Service was not commensurate with the prices charged. There was a mix up with my wife’s drink. She ordered a Tito’s martini and knew that it wasn’t Tito’s right away. She mentioned it and the manager brought her a new drink and mentioned a mix up with a beefeaters martini being served. The manager was very busy serving so I imagine they were slammed or short staffed. I had a house special drink, a form of margarita, while very tasty had an off smell. It could be the use of egg whites? If the smell wasn’t present I would have made it two. We were off to a slow start but placed our orders. I had oysters to start and I’ve had better. They were a bit flabby and inconsistent in taste from one oyster to the other and didn’t really match the description. $25 for 6 oysters. Additionally, I had asked for a glass of white wine with my oysters and had to remind the waitress to get my wine. Little things like that kept popping up through the meal but for over $200 for two I expect better. The focaccia was excellent, airy and crispy with hints of rosemary. Probably the best item I was served. The French onion soup came next and it was good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but good and I would order it again. And again, my drink, a beer needed a reminder with my meal. Next came the main course, I had the pork shank, described as Osso Buco. I loved the flavors of the accompanying medley it was served on but I found the meat a bit dry. I thought the grits were a bit hard to find as well, but overall not bad. My wife ordered the filet and has now given up on trying to get a filet served at the right temperature. She wanted it pink and warm in the center and it came out red and cool in the center. She sent it back to be refired and even the second attempt failed, but she just gave up at that point. The baked potato was the best part of her meal along with the accompanying veggies. The promised steak sauce never made an appearance. Dessert and after dinner drinks were fine but beware the pricing on the Port. There is none and the waitress described the selections without pricing. The first one was $60 and the rest were $12 after I asked. Throw a couple of $20-$30 glasses in there for a better and more balanced selection. So, overall the food was good(3 stars), if not overpriced, service was average, and the atmosphere was nice, but nothing lived up to the prices charged.

I had heard so many great reviews and I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it wasn't my favorite. Because it's a log cabin it was super dark. Sometimes I like the older, colonial aesthetic, but the vibe of this place isn't my preference. In regards to my meal, I did enjoy my cocktail and oysters, but the rest of my meal fell short. The lobster bisque looked gorgeous, but had a salty, bitter taste. My friends enjoyed their dishes (Fried chicken dish and imported pasta with shrimp dish), but felt that they were overpriced. The best part was the dessert which was a toffee bread pudding. I'm glad that we tried it, but in my opinion it was not worth the price. At least the service was very good and there was plenty of parking!

Several in our group had the duck breast. Very meager at 2 small strips of breast per person. The sauce was excellent but vegetables almost non existent. Others had the osobucco. 2 of them were fine however the third one was almost inedible. Waitress never came to ask how our meal was or we would have told her. Service was slow.

G
Gavin Pokrop

I was not impressed at all.... the carpaccio was *okay* at best, and the osso buco was dry and bland. I didn't even stay for dessert because I didn't want to go 0-3. But I will say the place has a nice atmosphere for whatever it's worth.

I have eaten at the Log Cabin many times and I have always found it to be enjoyable. Good, food, good service and a cozy environment. Last night I ate there alone on business. Upon returning hotel I became quite unwell. I a ‘em to have had some kind of food poisoning. I had a simple meal, onion soup a strip steak amd mashed potatoes. I suspect it was the bernaise sauce that got me. It seemed a bit tart and was likely spoiled. Very unfortunate as I live this place and dine here frequently.

Last Saturday evening, my husband and I visited The Log Cabin, which had long been my favorite restaurant in all of Lancaster County. We’ve celebrated countless special occasions there over the years and made wonderful memories. However, the menu hadn’t changed in a long time, so we eventually stopped going. When we heard it had recently been updated, we were excited to return. We didn’t make a reservation, as we only planned to sit at the bar for a few drinks and appetizers. Upon arrival, the hostess informed us the restaurant was fully booked and that we wouldn’t be able to dine. While I had a gut feeling we should just leave, we decided to stay for one drink since we had made the trip. The bar was completely empty—just one other couple finishing up in the corner. The bartender greeted us and asked what we’d like. I ordered a beer, but my husband needed a moment to decide. The bartender huffed and puffed, visibly frustrated and rushing us to order. It felt incredibly unwelcoming. We were not finished with half of our drinks when she dropped the check on the bar without even asking if we wanted another round. Our tab for two beers was $20. My husband had been paid in $100 bills that day after golfing, and when he placed one in the check holder, the bartender said I don't think I have change. She tossed it back on the bar and said, "Do you have anything smaller and walked away?” At that point, I was so upset I actually began to cry. I left the $20 and a tip and walked out, completely stunned by how we’d just been treated. Later that evening, I spoke with a manager over the phone. They were apologetic and invited us to come back, which I appreciated—but unfortunately, I won’t be returning. We supported The Log Cabin through COVID, ordering every drive-thru holiday meal and delivery we could. I just can't believe this is the level of service that is happening at one of Lancaster's finest dining establishments. I noticed another recent review describing a similarly disappointing experience. If you have a reservation, you may still enjoy your meal—but I strongly advise against dropping in for just a drink or light bite at the bar. The bartender’s behavior was unprofessional and frankly, inexcusable.
